  2. S-senpai please notice me...

  3. Hello! I wanna start off with this round of applications was a close one. In my call for a deputy I asked for a manager of people, professionalism, and a peacemaker. I am fully confident that you are all of these things. I think you would have been absolutely excellent for the position, and as someone who isn't a current or past member of the lore team, would have been baggage free from all the factionalism and drama that the team has experienced. I had actually planned on accepting this application before Kyres applied and I had to reassess. I would've been really happy to have you on the team, and I'd even go as far as to encourage you to keep your eyes peeled for any future lore team openings that you might be interested in since I think you would be a strong addition. For now, however, this application is denied. Thank you for your interest!
  4. I have a few concerns to address before I move on to my verdict. You were a fantastic deputy last time you were around and extremely helpful to me and the team. My issues however are the following. 1.) You seem to get stressed out and drained by the occasional drama that sparks up in lore writers. While it's understandable, we do need a cool head in a position of management. 2.) You have personal obligations which caused you to suddenly resign before, and I'm worried a similar unforeseen event could leave me deputy-less again. I think Marlon raised some valid concerns too that I do think we need to be a bit mindful and non-forceful when handling retcons. While sometimes they're absolutely necessary, and I know it's hypocritical coming from me and my past mistakes, but we need to be cautious to not alienate players and invalidate their characters with our decisions. With all of that said, you were an excellent deputy who I didn't really want to resign in the first place, and I'm more than happy to welcome you back. Given the overwhelming support, even from the other applicant, and my own personal experience, I've decided to accept this application. Welcome back!
  5. Someone voted Marlon's answer down... now I don't know if I should trust it... I will have to test this tomorrow.
  6. I see people puffing on cigarettes and I was wondering how tf they do it. Right clicking doesn't yield any options, I don't see anything in the IC or objects tab, and I've tried a variety of emotes. I've even tried holding it my hand, targeting my mouth, and help intent clicking on myself. Teach me the magic of nicotine addiction.
  7. No one made a Happy Thanksgiving post. So, happy Thanksgiving! I'm thankful for our great community.

  8. I'd be diggity down for this, code reds can really linger too long.
  9. Ceasefire with New Kingdom and Democratic Republic 25.11.2461 Earlier today, ambassadors of our Republic met with officials of the Democratic People's Republic of Adhomai and the New Kingdom of Adhomai at the Das'rra Imperial Palace outside of Shastar City. Disarmed and under heavy guard by galactic peacekeepers of the S'rand'marr Coalition and the Jargon Federation, the ambassadors began to discuss terms with the enemies of the People's Republic. As of this past hour, all present agreed to a complete ceasefire. While several ceasefires have been called in the past for matters such as councils for the Parivara and other humanitarian reasons, for the first time in over 10 years, our people now know the first peace which is meant to last. The decision to enter into peace negotiations with the monarchist and reactionary rebels came following the standstill of the past months which saw unprecedented brutality and the loss of tajaran life. As brave tajara after brave tajara on both sides of the conflict laid down their lives in the ultimate sacrifice, the banality and futility of war became increasingly apparent. For the past ten years, millions have paid the price and the whole of our race has suffered under the burden of constant loss. The People's Republic under Hadii has stood strong for its ideology and beliefs, affirming and reaffirming constantly the necessity of integration into the galactic community and the uplifting of the tajaran people with harmonious cooperation with our technologically advanced brothers from beyond. The belief that our identity would be lost in the process is the rallying cry of the misguided. Poverty and repressive institutions is not the essence of our being, and our beautiful culture would only shine ever brighter among our equals in the galactic stage. Our warriors were brave, and the suffering we endured was not in vain. We fought for the very future not just of a cabal of political elite, but the entire tajaran race. For the past ten years we fought to prevent the uprooting and regression of all of the progress we have made. It was the sincerest hope that as an entire species we may look forward to the future united and not divided that our nation persevered to bring back our lost brothers and sisters. We know now, all too late as all tajara have suffered, that we must let them choose their own path. As a constant stream of reports on terrorism across the Republic and casualties from the front line streamed into the governmental bunker under Nal'Tor, members of government and high command wept bitter tears and tragedies which became all too common. Sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, fathers and mothers all left to fight the good fight, never to return to their homes. Loved ones set off to their local markets and factories, only to be collateral damage in the bold attacks of their own neighbors. As anti-war protests at home and abroad in the many member states of the nations which delivered us from destruction began to spring up, the flower of peace bloomed. The flower of peace bloomed in the heart of every tired soldier, every citizen who lost their homes, and every sensible tajara who could see how senseless a continuation of the conflict would be. Early this morning ,the S'rand'marr Coalition, tired of a war they joined only two months ago which we have endured for a decade, delivered an ultimatum to our government to seek peace terms or else the Coalition would leave our Republic to devastation by rebel forces. Already weary and ready to end the violence, President Hadii immediately accepted. While negotiations have only agreed upon an immediate ceasefire so far, the desire for lasting peace was readily apparent. Ambassadors of all sides unanimously agreed that the bloodshed must end for all time and that our three nations must learn to coexist and live in harmony. Future discussions will primarily revolve around the exact borders of our nations, drawing the map in a manner which will be agreeable to the populations of various areas in question and the needs of our governments. After a full day of talks which brought about the ceasefire, President Hadii issued a press released commending the Adhomai Liberation Army and the Imperial Adhomian Army on their bravery and dogged principled defense of their values and traditions. The men and women of the People's Republic, however, garnered the most praise for their determined and sometimes seemingly hopeless defense of our bright future. In the face of destruction, they spat in the face of destiny, refusing to be shackled once more to the old ways which subjugated all tajara. While we failed to bring all tajara into the inevitable march of progress together, their valiant efforts have saved the People's Republic from destruction. It is our sincerest hopes that despite our differences, our brothers in different nations may look to us as an elder sibling, eager and ready to take them by their hands and lift them up onto our shoulders. All tajara who wish to join us will not be rebuked, but welcomed with open arms. One day we will all set aside our differences and once more enjoy unity as we had under President Al'Mari Hadii.

  16. I thought it was a rule because of like, didn't Richard Syion or something always make their nuke op char just Richard Syion while also being security on station? It was something like that or they waited until their character was canonically fired by CCIA (then the DO Corps) and I remember them bragging that "Now I can make my character be a nuke op and get my revenge since he doesn't work for the company anymore!" This was many moons ago but it's why I always thought it was a rule.

  20. With Kyres resignation some time ago the position for interim deputy loremaster has been unoccupied. As of today I have decided to open applications to search for my assistant to help in the administration of the lore team. The duties, as described by the lore team rules and regulations thread, are as follows: The most important, but not the only feature I'm looking for, in a new deputy is the ability to play the role of a peacemaker. I'm looking for someone who is level headed, calm, and friendly who can be agreeable to the other lore writers. There's often a delicate balancing act that needs to be played in various dynamics, from factional disputes in lore team itself and balancing the interest of the head staff against those of the lore team which must be carefully undertaken. Players with a poor reputation or who are known for losing their cool will not be considered due to the delicacy of it. While previous lore writing or management experience would be especially appreciated, the application process will not be strictly limited to current members of the lore team. A good solid working understanding of our server's lore is absolutely a requirement. In addition to the developer application template, please include anything of your choice which you believe will be conducive to your cause to being brought on board as deputy lore master. If I believe what you have provided is insufficient in the amount of content, I will inform you so you have the chance to add to your application. Good luck all hopefuls, and happy applying!

    Music Lore

There's tajara's blood storm metal band, and Yasmin Piaf pop star. But I like to think humans all listen to the original Deus Ex soundtrack. Skrell used to canonically love "come sail away" by Styx. Also something about IPCs and Steam Powered Giraffe when Nebs was lore dev.

  23. Ministers Seek to Ease Tension in the Coalition 03.11.2461 The grim deadlock of the two front Rasn'rr campaign begins to take a heavy toll on the morale of the S'rand'marr Coalition as officials begin to express discontent with the war. Complaints and anti-intervention protests in the homelands of our allies have sprang up, leading to some coalition members to express unease to Republican officials. A human representative for Tau Ceti insisted that her soldiers were promised that they would be home in time for Christmas. Ringspire, a private military contractor from Eridani, insisted on a renegotiation of their contract for higher pay for their services. Even NanoTrasen has weighed in, expressing concern about the loss of valuable personnel to the terror campaigns of the rebels and the high costs associated with their participation in the conflict on Adhomai. A thinly veiled threat from the corporation to Hadii in his bunker stated "This conflict is no longer profitable." Truly, the only real allies in these dark days are the ideological volunteers who share in the glory of Hadiism and the Skrell who generously defend the vulnerable members of our population. After the formation of the S'rand'marr Coalition, our armies began their offensives with a concentrated armored assault in the south supported by our allies. Unfortunately the offensive quickly bogged down as widespread terrorism plagued supply lines and destroyed morale. As snipers and bombings assassinated officers, units became disorganized and were turned back by the inferior yet determined rebel lines. Soon the rebels attempted their own counterattack, but were soundly defeated. For the past two months waves of rebels have crashed against our defensive lines, always failing but never surrendering the initiative. Every attempt of our forces at counterattack is quickly halted by saboteurs and a surge of attackers. The situation has developed into a war of attrition and willpower as the death toll rises but no ground is gained or lost. Taking advantage of the situation, rebel news outlets have begun a campaign of demoralization, attempting to paint the situation in the grimmest possible light to fool our troops. In an effort to counter rebel propaganda which has penetrated both our public and foreign nations, the Ministry of External Affairs has begun releasing informative articles and pamphlets on extranet websites and social media. Despite the Republic's best efforts to suppress the falsehoods of the monarchists and reactionaries, they each have found ways to surpass our supervision and disseminate their news abroad, thoroughly slandering the People's Republic as a totalitarian regime and ignoring the heinous crimes of their own. The info-graphics point out the hypocrisy of the DPRA, which claimed the PRA maintains death camps of tajara rights abuses despite past treaties with the Sol Alliance. The hypocrisy is further highlighted with the continuation of their terror campaign aided by "The Ho'tak Commandos," a unit of war criminals who conduct assassinations with no regard for collateral damage. Also debunked by our ministry is the smooth speaking of the NKA and their foreign circular, "The Royal Telegraph." Despite the easy and friendly reading of their careful wording, they fail to address the exceptional poverty which most of their citizens face, as well as the inherent class discrimination of having "nobility" which they enforce by law. Despite our best efforts to make pleas to reason and to spread truth to the greater galactic community, documentary filmmakers with few scruples have already influenced opinions abroad. Human journalists who filmed combat during ambushes and sniper attacks have gained widespread popularity with films such as "Winter of Fire" and "The Lost Cause." The emotional impact of the amateur documentary films was further strengthened by taking video of wounded Coalition soldiers and interviewing them on their experiences. Aside from the brave Unathi Kataphracts, who have displayed no fear, many of the injured fighters cried for the cameras when describing the horrors of the ALA guerrilla campaign. While officials for our empathetic Republic have expressed great sympathy for the terrors we have been facing, it condemns the transparent and shallow sensationalist "journalists" who have taken advantage of our active duty soldiers and those of our allies in order to make a quick profit, attacking the reputation of our Republic and blaming us for the injuries in the process. We here at the Adhomai Chronicle cannot stress enough that we have always been, during the duration of this war, defenders against regressive reactionary rebels and war criminals and protectors of progress for the Tajaran future and its uplifting participation in the galactic community.
  24. I started playing SS13 to roleplay since I learned about it from a roommate at the time who I played Dungeons and Dragons with, so I started straight off with HRP servers. I would get bored in my early months and run off and do LRP stuff and get in trouble, but for the most part everyone was pretty eager to show me the ropes when I played learning roles like lab assistant and asked to be taught ICly. Most of my learning of the game, beyond the basic controls, was done ICly at first and later through scrounging wikis.
