[Resolved] Staff Complaint: NoahKirchner

We're discussing this as an entire staff team, as it was always a case by case situation with no prior guidelines. -
[Resolved] Staff Complaint: NoahKirchner
DatBerry replied to driecg36's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Posting here to inform you that I will be handling this complaint. I can see both sides of the argument, though I am not a fan of high ranking individuals who come on board as visitors either, I will have to discuss this as it may end up changing the wording on the rules or having clarifications put up, or a change in policy all together. -
Not really a fan of this idea, the warden was made equal to officers because as munks said, people incompetent enough to get whitelisted used it to swing their powerboner around incompetently. If we need such a role added the warden can do it, they have nothing to do most of the time and you won't have to worry about them running off. I mean, it's made to teach clueless new cadets/sec players but I guess you're out of touch with the server now

On one hand you're pretty good at paying attention to details as chada noted, and you know your lore and regulations/procedure. On the other hand you've been raging more often since your unban, you ranged from unfriendly to outright uncooperative and hostile, as a wiki developer you don't actually have much say in what you do add, as regulations fall under CCIAA and lore falls under lore devs; there's room to argue but the final say still falls under the respective department, how well do you think you can handle having to add things you disagree with? we've had old wiki devs quit because they refused to add some things to the wiki, who were less volatile as you. Honestly, my guess if you were accepted would be joining and working fine for a month or so before an incident breaks out, you made me regret supporting your unban quite often, so why should we trust you wouldn't start another incident as a staff member?

[Denied] Coalf's Head Lore Manager Application
DatBerry replied to Coalf's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Being a lore manager doesn't necessarily require you to be a lore writer, I don't think most movie directors are actors and what not, though the argument that Coalf doesn't know the inner works of the Lore team holds true, I don't think it'll be too hard for him to coup with them, he's invested enough in lore and the player base. The second point is important for a lore manager, if you're managing lore for a game it should be aimed at the player base most of the time and not a select few who like to sit around and talk about the slums in a place they never actually go to, (no offense to whomever does that) but there is a valid point that there should be more engagement for the majority of the crew, lore should be in their face, and their actions should have consequences due to said lore; they shouldn't need to go rummaging through news articles to actually know what's happening in the world. Lore not effecting crew is not fully the lore team's responsibility though, they will need the dev team's help to have any real content added that doesn't feel patched on. However that's just my opinion and maybe jackboot would call me a "hardcore ICer", but I think the lore team has improved compared to 2 years ago(?) in regards to involving the station crew. I haven't had much direct interactions with jackboot besides when I applied for unathi, where he gave me some good criticism but the ending of his post suggested he was going to deny it if it wasn't for the feedback on his first post on the application, as in, if it wasn't for the feedback he wouldn't have given me the chance to make adjustments which weren't exactly major. anyhow, this is only a minor thing, but I've noticed that in the player discord he doesn't put effort to retort player's criticism or discontent with the lore or the way the lore team operates. Sure they're not always the brightest complaints or the nicest wording but neither does JB put any effort in making them feel that the lore team cares and that they'll just continue doing what they were going with. perhaps this is why no one comes to you with criticism? That said, Jackboot does take criticism into account, he just fails to portray that he cares publicly , I assume they are worn out from all the years of being the lore manager; for example, while showing he was adamant about the psionics arc, it seems like those plans were canceled. So unless there were some backdoor wrist twisting from skull, JB did listen and change his plans. Tl;DR: I think Jackboots' social skills are worn out from all the random salt players bring him over the years and could use a break, or work on showing the player base he actually cares. anyway back on about coalf, he's one of the people who will instantly notice when they make a mistake on their own, they're always critical of the team they're in and of themselves too, and are not shy from bringing tough topics into discussion, it seems most of the people who think coalf just "memes" have only interacted with him sporadically or haven't had a serious discussion with him one on one. While I haven't seen Coalf "leading" he has the quality to be a leader, or at least grow into one. Overall I don't have strong feelings about this application, I think Coalf can help lead a positive change in lore, but I also think the lore team can improve on it's own, in the end it's up to skull so whatever, though I'm more inclined to see a refresh in leadership. P.S: I think you answered this already but do you think you can handle BOTH moderating and managing lore? it can become very daunting. -
one IC year is a very short time, I assume you mean almost an irl year? I suggest artificially buffing the time he's been working on the aurora if he was a bumbling idiot only a year ago and now has a PhD, that would make little sense.

Locking and archiving. Doc will continue work on the validhunting incident. -
I'm going with -1 too. It seems that you only roleplay extensively when your friends are around, even when you switch departments and character's it's the same OOC friend you are playing with, nothing wrong with playing with your friend but it does give off the feeling you are excluding others. Always in the same department, always together , I don't think I've noticed you two in a round where you were each minding your own business. Even as an AI, your friend will come as a borg, which reminds me of that one time you were a malf AI, and command was trying to reach your core, and the same friend joins the game just in time as a borg to help you out. Another issue I noticed is you taking issues into LOOC, even as a ghost and while not involved, though there's been progress, it's still too early to disregard this. And lastly I am not sure what your grip on security and regulation is, but last time I had an interaction with you had to arrest you over beating an IPC corpse and refusing to cooperate for no real valid reason, forcing me to escalate a lot due to lack of handcuffs at the time, which is not an excuse for you to keep on resisting out. I do not want to see a head of staff who who disregards regulations when it effects them and resists any conflicting motions blindly even when they're in the wrong.

[Resolved] Arrow 768 - Head of Personnel Adler
DatBerry replied to Azande's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Sorry for the late reply, I intended to finish this twice, losing both replies. Doc and I investigated the logs, and asked one of the raiders who was in cargo, we come to the conclusion that the HoP did not shove himself in any real danger that breaks OOC rules. he had a reason to go there, and continue being there, he had to check on his department and employees, and to allow security access. he was informed the threat was mostly over when he attempted to go there and it wasn't like there was a full blown lethal shoot out right next to him. As far as I know, the HoS has no authority over the HoP, in his department no less, and even if he had some justification it would be considered an IC issue. We however came to unearth some validhunting incident that was not reported at the time, of some cargo crew who attacked the raiders. We will leave this thread open for 24hours unless other evidence is brought up, and will continue our investigation into the valid hunting incident. -
I will lift this ban due to the chance of it being a genuine mistake, but you have been here older than I have, and you're still making mistakes like this, even as a mistake you managed to delay the round end, and I don't understand why you would have pulled out the weapon if you were so worried they will catch you with it, which leads me to believe it wasn't just a mistake, and you were testing whether a stun weapon could actually kill you, or maybe you wanted to suicide due to negative interactions previously in the round. Whichever the case is, You've had already told me everything at the time, we were on delayed round end time so I had to make a quick decision, most of the staff at the time agreed to a perma. You are on very thin ice after this, if we don't seen any improvement this ban will be reapplied, with a very slim chance if any of it being appealed.

Doc and I will be handling this complaint, I've already requested the round's logs and we will be contacting everyone involved to get clearer details of the incident. edit; also, you can send your ahelp more than once if it's not dibbed, staff could have missed it or were busy and assumed someone else grabbed it. -
giving borgs a head of staff's stamp completely voids the point of a stamp, it should rather get a generic department stamp instead. Heads of Staff stamps are there to confirm the captain read it and approved it, it's no longer a confirmation if a borg who can be ordered by laws did it

Re-add radio muffling when someone is either weakened or handcuffed.
DatBerry replied to Scheveningen's topic in Archive
I'm against completely disabling it. Handcuffs already give you an unrealistic advantage of completely pacifying someone who could otherwise kick you in the dick. I understand where you're coming from and I agree shouting instantly for help is shitty, but I don't think this is the best way to add it, currently it has too many "what if" scenarios and promotes lazy antagging. I suggest, in cases where you would not be able to use your radio here, it would instead give a text of you trying to use it and a 1-2 second randomized time to complete the task. This will have more than one uses: A: If you are weakened down from a fight it's still possible to call for help if you're not interrupted B: You can use your radio when arrested by security C: Antags can react in time and cover their mouth and strip their headset, at the expense of dropping whatever they were doing and delaying it a bit. This will balance it out, no longer can you rat someone out as easily, but it also doesn't give antags a safe space to carry on their silent murders with even more ease then they already can. -
BYOND Key: (This is your Byond Login/Ckey) DatBerry Staff BYOND Key: (This is the Byond Login/Ckey of the staff member) PrOwOatePresidenti & OwOxia Game ID: 6dOw0b9 Reason for complaint: (State your reason for your complaint) OwOing Evidence/logs/etc: Additional remarks: I'm sick and tired of these OwOs that are plaguing aurora, It's a meme from a bygone era that bare only a slight resemblance to the memes of old. I would also like to remind the staff team of their oath of never giving any OwOs staff positions, I blame this on Aboshehab for being a terrible headmin. I also want to bring about the morality of posting OwO to players without their consent and staff members, underaged players too! this is simply not acceptable. therefor I demand the immediate banning without any chance of appeal for the two. I summon my metaquad friends witnesses to testify against them, our group has been working from the shadows for many years and we are finally ready to stand up against this oppression that was left to plague aurora for too long.

[2 dismissals; Archive: 30.10.2017].Provide a bodyguard for the merchant
DatBerry replied to alexpkeaton's topic in Archive
I consider myself a veteran merchant player by now. I think the only suggestion here I support would be adminbus'd ERT-like security gaurds if someone that isn't the merchant boards the warehouse. Attacking the merchant is usually a mistake, they are a non-NT person with lots of connections, he can supply you with anything cargo wouldn't normally do, as long as you have credits, merchants are willing to do a lot of things. -
[Denied] DaBurs Head of Staff Application ²
DatBerry replied to DaBurs's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
-1 not a person to trust with a head of staff whitelist in the foreseeable future. More often than not I see you chucklefucking, most recent incident I witnessed was as a librarian, you went around posting ricky & morty copypasta all over the place. a check on your notes shows you didn't improve, with more than one incident about lower than standard roleplay. Even as a more serious character there are still flaws, one incident I've witnessed personally was as a dionae scientist, you shut down a botanist asking for mutagen instantaneously, you did not ask why, nor ask for paperwork, you just said "no" and to top it off you told security he was acting suspicious, never mind the weird human-like suspicion as a dionae, you shut down any cross departmental work that could've happened, not something I enjoy seeing in a head of staff. Tl;Dr: both as serious and less-than-serious characters your play is sub-par -
From what I understood, they were in front of maintenance, hive had retreated after the first engagement into inside of security and they were out of his screen range. now there 3 maintenance entrances and they are all isolated, if he had left them out of view range, he'd have time to pick another route and think. He was informed he can continue to reply the complaints via a proxy account, but otherwise banned. he can appeal with said proxy account or a PM on discord. the reason for the ban was claiming there's a decision between the admins to never promote delta to anything past mod, which was aimed at making delta explode at the admins. I wasn't there when the decision was made, and I believe it was mostly discussed by the admins, it's likely this wasn't the first nor second incident.

[DENIED] Markus_DC's IAA application
DatBerry replied to MarkusDC's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Going to have to go for -1 as of now. You're way too new to the server, I don't believe there's anyone who is ready to vouch for you for a head of staff whitelist. the only time I've seen you play you broke the same simple server rule twice after being talked to, I won't hold this against you fully because you said you were on meds, but the quality was pretty low. So until you've proven you can roleplay to standards I'm going against this.
