  1. they're snowflakey alright, the idea was to have a guwan who went against the usual guwan stereotype so the whole premise was snowflakey to begin with. the zhan incident was a nudge to that one tajara article about increased zhan crime rates on adhomai, and it would give the character more depth, being suspicious and even outright scared of tajara.
  2. BYOND Key: DatBerry Character Names: Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Sandy brown/yellow. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: multiple times. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: slightly unlike the other races, unathi will usually need a strong reason to go to the other end of the universe to work under humans, making each unathi's backstory a bit more vivid somewhat unique while being not too snowflakey, believable and likely to happen. the unathi playerbase are also more likely to bully you for scratching traditions and you will likely end up oppressed if you go guwan. they give the lore a more realistic feel and not just "on paper restrictions". Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: well, in my opinion, some of their priorities are different, while humans worry about their career and their financial issues, I would imagine unathi are more concerned about their honor and clan standing. It's a mindset humans left behind ages ago and puts more social restraints on them. Character Name: Sarr'koh K'ohr (Currently Guwan) Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Sarr was the second son of Karr'koh K'ohr, a warrior under one of the hegemony lords and, along with the older brother of Sarr took part in the contact war, earning the clan much honor but losing his eldest son, Barr'koh. which caused the father to be over protective of his second son, Sarr. Having been too young to take part of the contact war, and being sheltered away from the nuclear exchange with his mother. Sarr lived a very overly protective childhood, with very limited contact with other hatchlings of his age, but he enjoyed the stories of the war that his father brought him in the form of letters to his mother, boasting about the battles he's had, but with time, the letters kept mentioning the fighting less and less, till it only mentioned that father was doing well. the contact war is over, Karr has returned home tired of war, his only hopes being in his last child, Sarr, he took every moment he could to train him and teach him his fighting techniques, hoping for him to become a great warrior in the future, but perhaps because Sarr was only 10 at the time, the father did not realize the huge issue his child had. Sarr now in his teenage years, around 16 years old. His father brought him to the clan household to spar with his cousins, there Sarr proved to be a disgrace to his father's name, where he displayed the greatest feats of cowardliness witnessed in the clan's known history, his father refused to look at him, giving him the silent treatment, as he was beaten up by his cousins. After the ordeal, his father continued to ignore him, this continued for two weeks, then; his father came to him, told him that Sarr will be leaving the house, which Sarr didn't completely understand, until his uncle Narr'koh visited with a ticket to tau ceti, where he explained to him that this was all a learning experience and that he will learn more about the other races, but Sarr knew it was to keep him away from the clan after the sparring incident. Now 17, Sarr'koh is on his way into Moghes' orbit in a shuttle, his legs shaking out of fear, determined to gain his standing back. his clan prepared for him to start a security cadetship with Nanotrasen in biesel, away from unathi space where he could taint them more. On his trip, he had stopped in one of the port hub stations in the frontier space outside of Uueoa-Esa, on his way to the next transit shuttle, Sarr was confronted by a gang of zhan tajara, where he was mugged of most of his belongings. being left with no money, Sarr had to beg for a job in the hub he was stuck in, finding a minimum wage job in a fast food chain, Sarr kept saving up money for his trip for the following 3 years. in that time he had managed to become more accustomed to human laws, and more fluent in ceti basic. though due to improved security patrols, there were no more confrontations in his time staying there. now 20 years old, with enough money for a one way trip to Tau Ceti, Sarr had contacted Nanotrasen's security academy to start his courses the next day of his arrival date, eager to start his training and with it his first step to regain his father's acceptance back.. What do you like about this character? He's different than all my other characters when it comes to conflict, i've had all different mixes of passive, aggressive, robust and unrobust, but never a true wuss who hates being so and wants to change it. he's also a different brand of guwan than that we've been having lately, one who still cares about traditions and honor, and strives to gain his clan name back How would you rate your role-playing ability? There's much to improve on Notes: I was going to make a more 'traditional' unathi, but seeing the increased number of non guwans, i opted for a snowflake guwan that goes against the normal guwan archetype Story edited to unguwan the character.
  3. post a screenshot of the ban message you're getting, it helps.
  4. I don't think this is needed but, Pikl has been one of the best trials I've had the pleasure of getting them to handle my ahelps, they always dib and deal with issues in a timely fashion, are polite and have a subtle sprinkle of meme, and most important, very active all around the week. +1
  5. Everytime I open your app wanting to leave some feedback i end up forgetting. My first impression of ezuo's first character was an overwatch clone (which turned out to be a coincidence) and I didn't think of them very highly at first, though that was just a first impression. Steph Deflores is one of the most professional acting captains around lately, they may or may not be competent, but their roleplay as far as I've seen was A okay. into the story, it's ok but there's a bit of missing details, if he was a traditionalist, how did he feel about leaving his world and working with the same aliens who brought his homeworld to it's current state, a hegemony unathi may not be bothered much, but an ex traditionalist would feel extremely uncomfortable at least, how did the transition make him feel? +1 but I still want your answer.

    I return!

you realize this is 3 years old?
  7. tether your mobile internet to your computer? if you're using an android it should be as simple as plugging the thing into your computer, turning on 3g/4g and toggling USB tethering. can use google if you find it hard to find usb tethering but it should be around the wifi hotpost in settings.
  8. There isn't much left to post after muncorn's reply. but i'd like to add some points: we do have just about enough ipc security, their balance is different than humans and a robot officer could singlw handedly ruin an antag round, most of our current IPC officers roleplay well and are very well rounded characters (not abusing being a robot to increase knowledge as an example). but your detective slash officer whitt is a loose canon, and I'm not sure if it's his quirk or you generally don't know regulations but he grazes them and breaks them at times. an IPC officer that is a loose canon that breaks regulations is not something i'd like to see around, and you don't have any other security members that can convince me you can do otherwise.
  9. I thought i replied to this already. SHODAN was very open about feedback on sophie and they accepted it and improved a lot since they've started out. While I don't know if sophie the character is ready to take on a head of staff job, I'm sure SHODAN can handle it, and if they can't, they'll listen to feedback and improve. +1 from me.
  10. Chada pretty much nailed it, Borgs and AIs are equipment, smart equipment, so smart in fact they are for the most part sentient. But that doesn't mean they're people, at least not while in a station bound chassis/AI core. Borgs and AIs's rank is the lowest of the low, their priority is below an assistant or an intern, but they are often given a fake feeling of being important due to the crew trusting them to follow their laws and have no personal bias. (spoilers: a lot of them do) You shouldn't follow all orders, but that doesn't mean you should delay/deny every single order because you can. at some point you will become more of a nuisance than help to the crew the crew would prefer to ignore you/not include you in issues. Just because you serve according to rank and role doesn't mean you don't need to serve those of lower rank. the CMO can't give two shits about the chef needing access to the unstaffed garden and there's practically no reason to deny it, unless there was reasonable doubt backed by evidence that whatever the chef will do inside would break one of your laws, or had someone with a higher ranker specifically told you not to allow them. as chada said, your laws take priority over your emulated emotions, and preferably (for me anyway), your emulated emotions should never effect your decisions, otherwise you're just a silicon human. Something I've noticed in my long time of playing the lowest rank on station, station bounds are more likely to open aux storage for me when i add "please" at the end of my request than when i don't, which should not effect their decisions at all, and honestly, I would consider it shitborg play had I made proper statistics about it. because it touches on their OOC Ego that it was only a request and not an order. It's funny when you realize how much station bounds react differently to requests and orders, more so in the latter, when they feel offended, they'll try to weasel out of following it. which brings us to the next point, Law lawyer-ing. I still remember the exact issue that happened which caused this rule to be added. a certain AI was suberted with a specific law that stated that they need to help john smith, that they do not state the law, that they do not hint at the law, that they do not allow the laws to be changed by anyone but john smith and that this law override everything else. the AI announced it was hit by an ion storm(didn't announce the traitor law or hint at it), allowed the RD to hack in (technically didn't allow him, he hacked in himself) and as soon as their laws were reset they announced JOHN SMITH HAS MODIFIED MY LAWS WITH ILLEGAL EQUIPMENT (in all caps i shit you not). the traitor took extra steps to NOT get fucked by the AI and the AI did everything it could to fuck it over, at this point you just stop bothering with hacking the AI and just blow it up. this is one of the more extreme cases of law lawyering, some lower levels can be seen in my two complaints on two borgs/android characters In the archive, basically broke/lawyered the laws due to their emotions, opinions and what not. things that are sub par to laws taking precedent or heavily effecting them, whether ICly or OOCly, is law lawyering. at least in my opinion.
  11. You may not know this but Derek Stafford has gained a notoriety for incompetence, he is the rare breed of semi regular characters that still can't escalate things properly nor use the right equipment at the right time and border line regulation breaking. I've yet to play or observe a round with Stafford where his performance was optimal, let alone exceptional for a promotion to HoS. I suggest you play more often as a security officer, maybe even make a cadet character and ask to be trained. as it is, I rank Stafford really low in the list f regular security characters that would get promoted. Another point is your IPC Hu. TAP, I've seen them in cargo, in medical, in science, back in chemistry, in civilian jobs and god knows what other jobs they've taken, there's no indication that these are different robots, or if they even reset their memory banks and download more info before taking on a newjob, can they do all these jobs at the same time in one shift? seeing the same character hop around different jobs irk me greatly and not something I'd encourage. after you get your whitelist, will Hu. TAP also be jumping between heads of staff positions? I think you've still got somethings to work on, -1 from me.
  12. I too was a bit skeptical at first, applying as soon as you got unbanned. but I've seen your behaviour IC and OOC and it's been pleasant, though sadly I haven't seen you in a head of staff position to see how you handle the stress, but I've seen you deal with stressful events as a security officer, other people already stated you're handling interim positions competently. so i'm willing to +1 this.
  13. soon with the economy update, the liggers will have to pay up.
  14. Realistic vs believable. Eh. I could believe that. It's the whole concept though, why try to block radio signals going to and out of your radio? it doesn't really make much sense. It'd be better if it was a modified radio that bird worked on with wires and things going out.
  15. You do know tinfoil DOES block some signals, right? how will the radio actually broadcast if the signals are being blocked? unless our station bounds run at cell frequencies it won't work.
  16. Reporting Personnel: Robert Osterweiss Rank of Reporting Personnel: Assistant Game ID: bPg-aZyW Personnel Involved: (Name, Rank: Offender/Witness/Other (Ckey)) - Nathan Corvo, Captain, Witness (JKjudgeX) - Urzkrauzi Vizili, Officer, Offender (Jackboot) Time of Incident: around 1:40 station time Real time: Location of Incident: Holodeck, central ring hallway, brig. Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty [X]Harassment [X]Assault [X]Misconduct []Other _____ Overview of the Incident: It all started in the holodeck, Officer Vizili came and started turning the gravity in the holodeck on and off, tripping me inside. I managed to get out, and that's where i grabbed the officer and threw him away from the holodeck, the officer ran back to me and sprayed me in the eyes with pepperspray more than once, which blinded me for a while. due to his unjustified aggression I attempted to disarm him, where according to him later, i managed to disarm his ballistic sidearm, which he used to justify shooting me with rubber rounds later. why did he have it out to begin with? why did he think it was a good idea to shoot an unarmed blind man with rubber? these were questions officer vizili did not answer me when I was in the brig. During my short time in the brig, I witnessed officer vizili throwing the detective's equipment (who went to cryo) at the forensic technician's office. ignoring me telling him these are the detective;s equipment, officer vizili continued to knock on the windows, and later used his baton to "knock" on them, causing moderate damage to one window and cracks to another, this was a reinforced window mind you. After the captain's arrival, officer vizili lied about using a baton on the window, claiming the damage was only from throwing the equipment, after an argument between the officer and the captain, in which officer vizili earned a gold medal in mental gymnastics, the officer tried handing me his gun, saying that I can shoot him because he made a mistake, claiming that was the captain's argument. he then stripped fully out of his gear and walked out, I believe to cryogenic storage after the demotion. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: Captain Nathan Corvo Actions taken: demotion. Additional notes: none
  17. Reporting Personnel: Robert Osterweiss Rank of Reporting Personnel: Assistant Game ID: (bPe-bUMj) Personnel Involved: (Name, Rank: Offender/Witness/Other (Ckey)) - Mathew Rayburn, Cadet, Minor offender - Ss'rite Ketriss, Unathi Security Officer, Offender - Rasheeq Al-Sammach, Tajara Security Officer, Offender - Watchman, IPC warden, Witness Time of Incident: right now Real time: 3:35 GMT+2 Location of Incident: departures, shuttle Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property [X]Neglect of Duty [X]Harassment []Assault [X]Misconduct []Other _____ Overview of the Incident: We were at departures after the end of the shift. Apparently Cliff Danger was a wanted man, at departures, the cadet Mathew Rayburn rushed to cliff, and used a flash on him wordlessly, and went with the arrest, when there were other officers around, a clear breach of arrest procedure which may not have been known to the cadets, should've been known to the officers. there were neither warrants showed nor charges stated. We had an incident with biological hazards earlier, which had security dispatched, but this incident was a long time after the issue was dealt with, a "we were too busy" excuse would not fly. Let's just say this was a slip up due to pressure, alright. when I questioned why cliff was was arrested and without the proper procedure they continued to say only one thing. If i may quote. "non of yourrrrrrr buissssnesssss assssssissssstant.", The fact they did not feel the need to explain their actions give the earlier incident another perspective. they broke regulations, and they did not give a damn. It's simple as that. As long as they're not questioned then they feel like they can take shortcuts to arrests or whatever they please. I think these two officers need to visit cadetship once again, this would've been absolutely unacceptable had there been a head of security. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: This happened at the end of the shift, thus I decided it's better to file an IR. Actions taken: Additional notes: the recent influx of officers not understanding nor caring about regulations is very worrying.
  18. I wrote a response and then forgot to send it, and then got too lazy to write it. Tl;Dr: OOCly, we may have different opinions but they are rational and polite about it, something good in a head of staff. Icly, Leonce is one of the fairer officers around, I think he can handle being an IAA perfectly. I also like how you did not jump to HoS instantly, it's a lot different than playing officer. all in all, i think driecg has what it takes to be a head of staff, +1
  19. Pretty sure it's a bug, if an airlock is crowbar'd open due to cutting the wire, it will automagically close, but this seems to happen only when the entire room is depowered.
  20. an xenobotanist leaving mutated bluespace plants in the open is akin to the warden ordering ion weapon crates and scattering the contents in the bar. Both wont kill usually but they can both be both an annoyance and a lethal hazard. I would like to request the logs for the round since both parties are conflicted on whether abby threw more peppers after the morgue incident or not, it may as well have been the other xenobotanist who completely finished his stock.

    Legalize Ambrosia

legalizing pot has absolutely no good RP benefits than "lmao weed dude xdddd" stereotypes increasing and conflict RP regarding drugs dropping. It would be much better if it was added to the gardener/chef access vendor, and allowed to be prescribed by the psychologist/psychiatrist. This will: A: make ambrosia more used B: keep the drug abuse/trafficking/sale viable for the conflict value C: give the psych job more shit to do (they seriously need more attention) all the arguments I've hard in the thread are "but it makes sense to legalize it!! it's like pot!!" "it has medicine in it!!" the medicine in it can overdose, and with alberyk's new OD update WILL kill you, and maybe set you on fire. No one has argued what kind of roleplay this encourages other than pot heads getting a right to be annoyance. Fully legalizing ambrosia will: A: encourage mass production of drugs available to crew B: lmao duude weed xdddddd C: crew overdosing and fucking dying D: easier access to advanced chemicals like bicardine and dermaline, usually found in very small units (1, 2u) in other plants, apparently is around 7-8u in ambrosia. Either make this prescribed or keep it illegal, because it's shitty for both IC and OOC reasons to fully legalize it.
  22. There's a difference between being able to stop discrimination and being able to persecute people over it. NT isn't a safe space workplace and xenos aren't catered to. it took them ages to stop people calling them racial slurs over public comms, and haven't exactly banned it from doing it in person. the regulation you're suggesting will only punish the person, not stop them. he will just continue till he lands a HUT, and continue anyway. adding a gag to the brig for the extreme cases of vocal abuse is a better solution than adding a new regulation that effects so much more than just the case you brought up.
  23. that was only one example, it will also shoot down any conflict RP before it gets anywhere. here's another example: local guwan is shit at his job, ligger and other crewmembers call him a lazy asshole and bully him over department/common radio. guwan talks to security and get's immunity to any discriminating harassment he could receive whether it be over radio, PDA or in public. and in some jobs, becomes immune to any discrimination at all. this new regulation would open an awful can of worms that can be avoided by picking up duct tape from primary storage and just taping the mouth of the prisoner shut.
  24. I actually do see an issue with this, with minor crimes, officers usually care less about evidence and witnesses, and I've already seen once instance where a cargo tech got another arrested for sexual harassment with no proof, basically her word against his. with slander and misuse of comms, they will obviously have witnesses, to slander someone and spread lies, you need to tell these lies to someone other than the victim, for comms abuse, that's pretty obvious. Harassment charges with officers would work because there's OOC expectations that sec will not be shit, but covering the crew, and the manchildren portion too would start a lot of issues. take this example: Nurse McTits PDAs her friend officer who she knew for many shifts that Baldose McSurgeon has been harassing her all shift in medical, there's no way to prove this without another witness or a recording. but since it's a low pop round, or other officers are busy with something, Officer McFriend might even ignore the need for a warrant and attempts an arrest. IMO: this will enable bigger issues than it will solve, I'd rather deal with some bald saying i fuck the furniture than deal with two drama queens claiming the other is harassing them.

    Legalize Ambrosia

you will need a prescription from the psych for ambrosia, this will make it used more often, but still an abuseable drug. obviously the prescription will require an anti toxin pill with it too.
