Moondancer has always had a really refreshing and unfaltering love for Synthetics as long as I've seen them playing on Aurora. I'm positive that they'll give their all and then some if they're accepted. We used to geek out over Synth Lore, and they've written tons of IC documents on Synthetics as well. I can't think of anyone I'd rather see accepted for Deputy, but for my post to have merit despite my opinion I have to ask questions. 1: If you could change one thing about Synthetics, what would it be? 2: What aspect of Synthetic Lore is your favorite? What aspect is your least favorite? 3: If given autonomy under the current Lore Dev, how would you go about implementing your ideal changes? Especially on the Scientific papers. Hopefully this is only the first post to foster discussion on this app, and if so, I'd have done what I sought out to do. +1 FMPOV.

Happy new, much more spooky Dev cycle. We have a lot of the same as well as afew small additions. PAGES TO BE UPDATED (Note, Green is lower priority, Blue is medium priority, Red is high priority. A star means it is new to this edit of the list.) All imagemap pages: *[/u] (Assigned to Chada1. Imagemap pages put on hold due to massive consistent map changes that would render them outdated) Minor Food guide update: *[/u] (Assigned to Chada1) The Icelance Rifle needs to be added to the uplink page: *[/u] (Assigned to Burrito Justice,) Virology and minor Medical changes: [/u] (Assigned to Burrito Justice,) Hydroponics Guide: [/u] (Unassigned, this guide was stated by a community member to be out of date.) Guide to Modular Weapons (R&D): [/u] (Unassigned, this guide was requested by a community member.) Medical: [/u] (Current additions assigned to Burrito Justice. However, this just notes that they're reviewing and correcting/altering guides. Feel free to chip in where you see incorrect information.) An update to the Improvised Weapons page: [/u] (In a recent dev cycle, improvised armor was added into the game, this should be added to the Improvised Weapons page alongside any other weapons. Still important.) Other Antags: *[/u] (There are still many guides to Antags that need to be updated especially following the dev cycle to come, noteably Changeling, Wizard, Ninja and Cult. As an Addendum, Malf AI has the highest priority.) Mining changes: [/u] (With the recent implementation of custom kinetic accelerators, some additions and changes to the Guide to Mining will be necessary, or at the least a guide to KAs) PAGES TO BE REVIEWED (Note, Green is lower priority, Blue is medium priority, Red is high priority. A star means it is new to this edit of the list. These priorities are only set to encourage review and have no bearing on guide quality) Ninja page update: [/u] (Light overhaul handled by Ron) R&D Guide: [/u] (Minor update by BurritoJustice.) Getting Started page: [/u] (Handled by Burrito Justice. Placed here for feedback) Guide to Medicine: [/u] (Handled by Burrito Justice. Far too many changes were made for me to not include it here. Review needed of the Brain traumas section especially.) New Wiki Frontpage: [/u] (Handled by Chada1, Recolored to White, feedback appreciated.) Antagonist Uplink Guide: [/u] (Handled by Burrito Justice, placed here for review.) Corporate Reporter page: [/u] (Handled by Chada1, changes still pending.) Mental, Medical, Disabilities and Chemistry changes, including Asthma: *[/u] (Updated onto multiple guides by Burrito Justice)Community input will never stop being important, let me know if you find any problems with this list. Feedback helps me improve it. Be sure to message me if I forgot anything in this list.

BurgerBB's Developer Application
Chada1 replied to BurgerBB's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I'm not averse to Burger rejoining the Staff team, as they seem to have improved on their conduct. -
An idea I had is making Phoron glass output twice as much Solar power as regular glass. I still like this idea, but I would consider that one too. +1

Apology accepted, and if you'll try not to be so confrontational (Or at least make it *Clear* you are joking, because I did Not take what you said as joking) then I think that's it for me. Edit: And no, violently is the correct term. Because the way you were phrasing things were seemingly meant to offend-- You were effectively acting like a certified troll. That is not banter, or I didn't think it was. Edit 2: I would like to also point out that Paradox indeed was decently out of the banter zone near the start of the conversation and my frame for 'Your line for banter is ridiculous' had been based off of the Sun Sam situation I was present for ages ago.
-
I think I count as involved in this? What I think is that JKJudge needs to just calm down and stop reacting violently to harmless jokes. That's really all I could ask. Everytime they do it, it causes drama. Both in the case of calling out Sun Sam for 'Metagrudging' for cracking a joke to taking me and Paradox's(On second thought, Paradox did go pretty far...) so just my goofing as an actual attack on Snoops character which I definitely didn't intend it as. (And if Snoop took it that way, at least in my case, I apologize) You can't force people to be nice, but maybe this is a personal feeling but it ruins my mood everytime I see it happen and get accused of something I didn't do. That's basically all I can add. Effectively, he calls out 'Toxicity', while most of the toxicity as far as I can see is originating in him. You can see this in how he tried to bait me into insulting him while I was trying to drop it.

As of this week, I'm pleased to say the Aurora wiki has been opened to public edit, Courtesy of Skull. All edits must be approved by Managerial Wiki staff. The CCIA team leader, the Wiki team leader, and the Lore Master are all authorized to accept these changes. I'm a bit ecstatic about this turn of affairs but let's get to the basics, there's basic criteria of what makes a good wiki edit. For Edits: 1. It corrects an error, or otherwise serves to correct a problem. 2. It adds additional information to improve the page. 3. It removes unnecessary clutter. 4. It rephrases the text to be more clear or user friendly. For pages: 5. It serves an obvious purpose, not filled adequately by any other page. 6. It is deemed by the Wiki Maintainer team to be a quality addition, on discussion. Many of the edit criterias also apply to pages and vice versa. These may be expanded in the future. Depending on workflow, the umbrella of moderation may be increased. But for the moment, I'd just like to encourage edits to follow a specific format. An edit achieving even one of these criteria is good, but they will be considered even if it doesn't obviously fall into these grounds, but it would vastly increase the likelihood of acceptance if it does. These are more guidelines than requirements, to sum it up. For more information and the Wikipedia bound guide to editing, see: https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Guide_to_Editing This page also includes instructions of how to log on, and the process of submitting an edit. Happy editing!

You can print the directives at a paper printer thing, Request console? However I agree it should be more visible. An idea is posters or bulletin boards like Exodus used to have in obscure areas (Xenoarcheology outpost, engineering) to be put into the Auroras' civilian/high traffic areas. I pitched this suggestion to Jackboot before for lore developments, but this for high important directive papers with lore developments as an add-on sounds much better. On the AI following Directives, the AI serves NanoTrasen as a whole, not just the Station command. So, in theory, you could consider the Station Directives to be from the highest echelons of NT. Thus, extremely important. But that's a stretch. I wouldn't mind a re wording of the laws, but the freedom of AI personality and gameplay (As little as there is) should be preserved IMO. For an example of serving the company as a whole and not just Command, look at the wording of Protect and Serve. 'Serve/Protect NanoTrasen personnel, with priority as according to their rank and role.'. And arguably the CEO/CCIA are the highest in both rank and role and are presumed to have written the Directives.

[Accepted] Open Wiki Registration.

We who approve wiki additions also have the option of marking users as spammers which are sectioned off from regular suggestions. So that is an option as well. -
I still believe this is a very relevant suggestion, as it stands, new players to Medical have far too much expected of them. This leads to them wandering aimlessly through Medical or doing things they ICly shouldn't do, such as not understanding the proper dosage of Bicaridine and the like. I really think this simple alt-title would make a large difference in the accessibility of Medical to new players and enable them to learn in a less stressful environment. Consider this a bump so it isn't lost in a pile.

My complaint is largely on the responsibilities thrusted on a learners role. We don't expect Security Cadets to know how to protect themselves and use all guns responsibly with supervision, we don't expect the Engineering Apprentice to be able to do the Engine or Tesla with just basic supervision, we don't expect Lab Assistants to do all of the work in R&D with just a Scientist there to watch. In theory, there's not a lot of reason that a Student, Intern or Orderly, whatever they are called, couldn't up their alt-title to Resident to hint that they are through with schooling and working full time for their license instead of just getting practical experience to help in school. We just throw far too much responsibility on Medical Residents as of this moment to expect them to know nothing. It actually breaks character to teach them the basics of Dylovene, Inaprovaline etc, because of this. They should already know all of that. That said, I don't want Resident gone, it fills a decent niche of an advanced learners role. Its just, it's NOT a basic one. There needs to be a slot or title for that.
-
So, this was a long time brewing. As it stands, there is no learners role for Medical. To explain what I mean by this, there is no role that isn't expected to be competent. I will explain more on this before I carry on. Used to, we had a role known as 'Nursing Intern', it was expected to know very little and be taught how to work in Medical from the ground up. Now? We have the Medical Resident, which sounds like the same thing? Wrong. The medical resident occupies the niche of a fully educated Doctor undergoing residency, which in the Medical industry is required to obtain a license to practice. You are a fully schooled and mostly competent Doctor who is just doing their rounds (Known as Residency) which is displaying competency to their peers. Why is this bad? Two words. Mostly Competent. For comparison, you have... Lab Assistant - Incompetent, but trusted around lab equipment. Engineering Apprentice - Incompetent, but trusted with engineering tools. Security Cadet - Incompetent, but trusted with some security gear. Medical Resident - Near full fledged doctor, trusted to do everything in medical with light supervision. One of these things is not like the other ... one of these things just doesn't belong The Medical Resident as a concept has evolved past being a learners role, now it's a 'I'm out of date in Medical but completely competent' role, as it stands, you have to OOCly handwave the Medical Residents incompetence and pretend he learned nothing in Medschool for this to be a learners role, that is not preferable. Soooo, proposal; Add Medical Intern as an alt-title. Problem solved, easy peasy. Fixed.

Ey' House of Synth. I've considered your app, and my concerns were few to start out. You did a great job on the Mining Guide when you used to be a part of the team, and I don't see any reason not to be glad to have you back on the team -- Just be sure to let us know if you decide to take another hiatus! Application accepted. This can be locked and archived.

Hello AgentWhatever! It's been a month give or take, and here I am as promised to review your application. Your knowledge of Wiki work and methodology are extremely impressive, looking over previous projects of yours and the like, especially the multitude of imagework on the Wiki, on merit this application would be a very easy choice. However, on review of your activity, despite being asked to be a bit more active, you lack activity on the server. I can't give you this position on merit alone -- I have to be sure that you're involved with the community as well. I'm going to have to deny this application. You can reapply in the future when your activity is better, and you won't have to wait a month in that case. Thank you for applying! This can be locked and archived.

I was opposed to this when spoken of on Discord, but when laid out in a suggestion, it seems a lot more reasonable. I apologize, Burger, and I'm onboard with this. I had an idea in the past for a 'Chemistry Module' that did something similar to this, but this expands on that concept in a much better way. I wish I had a decent suggestion to add on, but I don't, so I'm just offering my support.

I'll start, I have a Dionae character I play sometimes named 'Those Who Brave the Dark'. They're the result of two Diona NT employees who chose to split due to differing goals, the remainder merged into a different Gestalt which left for reasons. The ones that sought to maintain their position and goals is the one I play. The one I don't play is up for grabs and currently exists as an NPC who only exists in backstory. This is the flavortext I'd like a person who uses this character to incorporate in some manner, They can be named anything you like, but should be somehow related to self-determination (Those Who Ran Away, The Ones Who Left) etc. If you miraculously run across my Dionae while playing them, they aren't on favorable terms but they don't hate each other, think of it like a very troubled family. PS: Their Medical records should say

If there were is any hope of fixing this problem, a whole lot more than just saying yes will have to change. I can't say I haven't experienced most of this while playing as well, it's horrible, but there's a limit to how many people can be included in an event without detracting from it as well, there are on average 60 players in a round when these events are happening. I don't know how you could hope to include them all. The only way is for a lot of chaos to happen or for it to happen on Station instead of far removed from the Station. My ears are open to ideas.
-
I'm agreeing with Prates sentiment, the AI is a very important gameplay element that shouldn't be restricted to the massive level as suggested, what it needs is Roleplay quality control, not complete absence from rounds. I +1 the idea of a Whitelist instead of a % chance. Anyone who can be trusted to play Heads of Staff should also be trusted to play the AI, if they abuse it, it could just be an AI ban as per usual instead of a whitelist strip.

[Resolved] Player Complaint Scheveningen: Part 2
Chada1 replied to BurgerBB's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Do I count as involved? I think I might, but if I don't, just delete this post. I've seen a lot of this drama as of now (And was even part of it for a little while during Burgers' trial app) so I am pretty sure I am involved. I'll start with, I take a lot of issue with your behavior, Burger. You consistently go off server to talk behind peoples back and it's effectively the same as defaming people. You should not be surprised in any way shape or form that people are offended by your actions. If Schev joined a server to talk crap about you when you weren't there, you'd probably react very poorly as well, because it's rude, you are talking behind peoples back and slandering them. It was worse when you were doing it as a part of the Staff, but now that you aren't it's still bad. That said, you have apologized and though Schev didn't accept your apology, I did, but you've still been doing it, but I've gone on for too long, this complaint isn't about you. Scheveningen has been known to go off and get really bitter about people and go off on them, though I harbor no ill feelings towards them (Or you), they should have known that there was no way this would end well for them, there is absolutely nothing that would justify what they've said and done, they effectively tracked you down and harassed you non-stop, that's nothing short of bullying and ridiculously inappropriate and unnecessary. I'll be disappointed if they aren't punished from this complaint, but it could be dismissed due to occuring off server. If it is dismissed I suggest you block Schev and push them out of your mind. -
I don't know about the mechanics (Or if they'd be possible to implement) but a high-skill uplink gun sounds amazing and I think it could be a welcome change from the status quo of 'Spawn regular traitor revolver, shoot Security to death or die trying'. I think some discussion would be beneficial on what the mechanics could be tweaked to. The ricochet is something I'd hate to see lost, though.
