[Resolved] Staff Complaint - Aboshehab - Questioning Ruling
Faris replied to HunterRS's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Yes, practically copy pastes, each applied within short time after the other. Because of the earlier point, always applied with Edgar, always the same app. The previous and current team want a fresh perspective. I haven't really seen these flaws, only recently I had to speak to you about doing RnD, Xenobiology and Robotics. The specifics on why I didn't allow this are lost to me but I'm sure I can dig them up, they're a bit irrelevant at the moment. You can apply and play Edgar as an RD, you just can't apply with Edgar. They're entitled to their opinion. As do the people that support this ruling or just don't care about it. I agree, that's why we want a new perspective. You elect to bring back the past. You have that chance, just make a whitelist without using Edgar. My stance remains the same. -
So, I'm going to hit this on the top. You have around four months of play time, which you managed to get a plethora of bans including two permanent bans. You first one was acquired after two months of gameplay, the second a month after your accepted appeal. In total, you have sixteen negative notes. Even after your first accepted appeal, you joined as a character called "Penis Enlarger", this just gives me the impression you frankly do not care about the rules. You also have a substantial history with a plethora of servers, the same tendencies and habits. You've generally been banned from them for the same reasons here. So, what's different this time? You've been given a plethora of chances over a short period of time, what's changed?

The note is being expunged. I discussed this matter with Ejundersc0re. Too many factors not accounted especially since an investigation was not fully completed due to a few factors out of their hand. I'll also be contacting Rosetango privately. Keeping it open for 24 hours.

[Declined] BurgerBB's Diona Species Maintainer.
Faris replied to BurgerBB's topic in Developer Applications Archives
So, I won't really echo Mofo's concern here since it's already touched upon. Now, you seem quite eager when it comes to Diona, you've contributed quite a bit from the mechanical side of things, but there are a few concerns I have about you. Now, from personal observation, which could all well be wrong but it's what I've seen, I'd like you to correct me or provide further context if I'm not correct here based on your opinion. You've had a few run ins with staff, all of it barring one pertains to roleplay in general, though I'm chalking up the first two to you being new as they're based on you being new at the time. I also can't really say that your Diona roleplay is something I too approve of, based on a staff encounter with another Admin and a picture you've posted. This doesn't really seem alien to me, a Dionae telling another that they shagged their mother. Remove the name and I'll just say it's a human with a speech issue. This makes me skeptical in the quality of whitelists that you may approve and the bar in which you hold your current whitelistees to. Now, that's not to say everything I have about you is bad. You're eager, you've done a lot of work mechanically. But maybe you'd be better suited to helping current lore developers instead of taking the mantle yourself? Edit: It's also come to my attention that one of your Dionae characters is supposedly versed in the following jobs. Bartender Chef Cargo Technician Janitor Librarian Scientist Roboticist Medical Resident Lab Assistant Which is also not a full list as I see it doing chemistry as well. All these qualifications were supposedly attained in EDUCATION SUMMARY: The Nal'tor College of Career Excellence, Culinary Aptitude Test Pass [29/8/2459] The Nal'tor College of Career Excellence, Horticulture Test Pass [12/8/2459] Mars University, Masters, Mechatronics Completed [6/10/2446] Lunar University of Medical Science, Doctorate, Medicine [3/8/2456] Lunar University of Medical Science, Doctorate, Philosophy [3/8/2456] I'm leaning against supporting this application now, since I'm getting vibes that you're going to effectively change the Diona into a species that is quite powerful. Though I'd like to hear your thoughts on these too. How do you justify them? What is your reasoning? How come your character is able to effectively work the most specialized and difficult jobs? -
[Accepted] Elohi Adanvdo's Diona Loredev App
Faris replied to a topic in Developer Applications Archives
A few questions about yourself. If accepted, you understand that you will be working with a team, which means interaction with others. I feel you burn hot one day, the next you're very cold. How confident are you in being able to handle applications, receiving complaints and working with others. Are you able to work with others, both the community and the staff team? You won't be working on your own here, you'll be developing your respective species, you'll be dealing with the quality of roleplay presented by the current whitelistees, you'll be dealing with feedback and sometimes less than savory critique to your work, you'll be working with developers and you'll be working with the moderation teams, both the IC one and OOC one. Now, I'm not really sure how you are on a personal level, I don't speak to you much yet I have seen you quite a bit on the different Aurora platforms we have. I'm still quite skeptical about your ability to work cohesively with the team. I'd like to hear your thoughts. -
I'm taking the complaint.

[ACCEPTED] Eridani Mercenaries/PMCs
Faris replied to T1GWS's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
A bit overdue which I do apologize for. So let's go over this. In essence, the core concept is what I had in mind, albeit a bit different. Though I am afraid in saying that there's a few concepts I don't find to be really fitting with our setting, I'll go over them. I do like the idea of five major units, but I'd like there to be much more. So I'll go with the concept of five major and known ones but I'll have it know that there are more units that are simply lesser in influence. These mercenary units should be more localized. I never envisioned Sol Government to actually put much stake with PMC's by giving them the same tasks they task their military with. I'm not so sure on the Blue Storms. I feel it's a thing in our setting that you don't cut off healthy tissue in favor of prosthetic and such. I doubt we have any prominent figures that willingly have cybernetics installed without a medical reason. It just screams space cyber ninjas to me. White Eagles scream 'murica to me. What military Eridani has is not going to rival any actually organized and competent military force. I doubt their equipment would rival the military either in such a scope as you cited. The Black Clan is far too powerful to have as a Unathi entity. Considering these major five would end up commanding large formation of troops and even naval vessels. It may be reasonable for them to be a minor cell, just not something big. I feel there's a lack of a "professional" and "official" look to them. So personally I'll take the concept of the main five but add it that there are other smaller units. I'll use all but the Unathi unit, with the four I'm using modified to better fit the image of professionalism I'd imagine they have and in adherence with our setting with the points I mentioned in mind. I'll see if Zundy has anything to say. -
Yeah, agreeing with Arrow here. I feel the pros and cons balance the weapon putting into consideration it's not a thing you can get early on. Assuming you reach its levels RnD wise, you can make the bag of holding as well. There's also major coding hurdles from what I hear that make the effort outweigh the work. Voting for dismissal but not binning yet due to the 1 week grace period.
-
I think the addition of a new hud icon for "search" would be pretty neat.
-
We already enforce this. Any antagonist that wastes their slot without furthering the narrative as per the rules will result in administrative actions. Now, the issue is the lack of people actually ahelping these incidents, we can only deal with things we are reported or notice. I'm going to lock this as it's already a policy.
-
I personally do it if it's a relatively heavy ahelp that may take more than a few seconds to deal with. Yes, out of courtesy but that's heavily based on the fact I'm a Head Administrator and I want the team to deal with the issue without me looking over it. It's not something I'm going to stipulate as mandatory as I trust the staff to conduct themselves in a way befitting to their position and trust put in them. Voting for dismissal.
-
This is already heavily discouraged and if it just amounts to a person sitting in a bar doing nothing, it violates the rule pertaining to antagonists furthering the narrative. If we add this as a specific rule and keeping add more specific rules when they're already generally covered by the rules, we're just going to end up with a bloated mess. Voting it for dismissal as it requires the addition of a specific rule.

[Denied] SovietCyanides CCIA Application
Faris replied to Theplahunter's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
I vehemently disagree. His unban was not the first time. The reason it's been two years is because his unban requests was denied. He was given a chance in the past and he broke that trust. He was only recently given "another" chance, he's still on thin ice for any repeat behavior. I prefer he stays a member of community and away from staff postings for a while before this notion is entertained. I'm sure you're familiar with what happens when people are brought onboard that are under "parole". Skull has specifically stated that if any reoccurrences of his past behaviour becomes visible, they will not be given any further chances. If he proves that he is able to stay away from his old habits over a reasonable period of time judge, then I'd be willing to consider it.
