Okay, I have been informed that Bay does their sprites oddly, and has different shading techniques to us. So, Polaris sprites are more up our alley. As in they have a darker outline for some reason,

Us, Bay, Polaris. We look weird, Bay has really dark outlines, Polaris is less darkly outlined.

Change the color but keep the body shape and type please. The body shape is superior though the color is better.

You and another have said that now- but, uhm, I can't actually see the difference. What's the difference? Other than- the, uh, gibbed version.

The body proportions are better. On the female sprite the breasts also look unnatural. The body seems more compact. There is also a beer belly on the male caused by the shading that when I noticed I can't not see.

I'm really not a fan of that second sprite. It looks really gross @Resilynn and I really don't think you ran it through /all/ the hat and hair sprites.
As to Amory's sprites, they're okay, but that is not what boobs look like.

if this is liked, i'll get the colors scaled properly for in-game use and a .dmi posted
here's what's goin' on with this sprite:
- i tried to stay as faithful as possible to the original's silhouette so clothes/damage/etc isn't messed up
- anything inside the silhouette was completely scrapped and redone. definition, shading, everything. it looks more like a human than a blow-up doll, at least to me.
- the hey arnold pixels at the side of each head were shaved off - this shouldn't break any hair or helmets, but if it does, let me know what breaks and i'll fix that, too. suddenly the head is more...human-looking.
- the colors can easily be tweaked, but i went with a redder hue and way less saturation. i thiiiink our sprites are whitescaled anyway, though.
- i'm not 100% satisfied with it, but it's the best i can do given the already broken and malformed silhouette we're all constrained to.
- originally i had the muscle tone cranked all the way up. i'm not opposed to making multiple human forms with different body types, stocky, lean, beefy, etc.
- this current body type at least fits the typical average from most people's flavor text: they're clearly fit, and either work out or have a physically demanding job, but they're not hulking walls of muscle and veins.

Having a more realistic body can still make it unappealing. The second sprites look unsettling from the front. The "football head" may not be realistically proportioned but it is a style that when leaned in on has created interesting character sprites.

The sprites shown look sickly. They seem like the vat grown sprites, or from a grittier style of server.

Also, why did you remove the breasts from the female sprite?

What do other skin tones outside generic caucasians look like with these new sprites? Maybe something other than pasty skin will improve their look because right now I just can't see myself signing up to them.

Our current sprites are more pleasing to look at than the suggested alternative.

Most hair sprites cover the football head, or make it look even worse than it really is. I support ape-head, and true white. The true white from Polaris' looks great as well when shaded for other races. I think it'd make all races more distinguishable rather than everyone being some weird yellowish color unless they're black black.

The football head looks better with hair than the compressed, smooshed head presented. As I said before, the front profile is incredibly unflattering. It looks like a narrow head with fins instead of ears. The "football head" shows the ears and other details. It's a good use of space and size and texture.

This is a good example of where realism falls flat. I'm sorry but these realistic sprites are incredibly unflattering and alien. The side profiles are good, but when it's looking at me not so much.

Please for the love of everything, don't add these. Not sure exactly what you call it but the colouring/shading of these human sprites look both drab and soulless when you actually try to use them. They don't fit with the rest of the colour palette of our server. I wouldn't be against it if they actually fit with the rest of our aesthetic.
