Mogelix Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 This is a stupid change and I am incredibly fucking livid. I just managed to escape from a chair atleast three times, but all three of those times I was only unbuckled and my cuffs remained on. I was then promptly immediately re-buckled. Antags in prison have pretty slim chances to escape already. Officers do the wardens job and oversee every little thing you do, you're often denied your PDA even if nothing evidences you having uplink on your PDA, and over all its just a terrible experience that comes down to 'kill yourself or get permabrigged'. This change even worsens the experience, for a reason that I am told to be 'So you can leave someone who's in cuffs for longer then a minute'. This strays from the entire point of cuffs. They're meant to be a temporary restraining device, not a portable prison. A better change would've been to increase escape time to three or even four minutes. This disencourages spamming resist, and encourages choosing your moment to escape. Please change this, I can see the annoyance in resist spammers but this is not the correct method to deal with it. This takes out the suprise of a well timed unbucklecuff resist, as even a passing officer that sees you are not firmly planting your ass on the chair will instantly rebuckle you and reset the whole process. The brig exists for a reason, bucklecuffing is already annoying but this puts me in physical fucking pain as a antag.
Pratepresidenten Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 It wasnt always like this, but for some reason it is? Im all for a revert/fix. Although Im not sure if this is a bug or not, as the text clearly states "X is attempting to remove their handcuffs", then timer pass, and you.. unbuckle from the chair/bed, which makes no sense. Maybe you should chuck this up on git while you're at it.

GreenBoi Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Yeah, I agree with this. So many times, I've nearly been able to escape or do something fancy in Processing but then I'd just be STUCK. A long time ago, there was this merc round and I was stuck in the chair. I managed to unbuckle myself but not uncuff and that meant EVERYTHING. It also doesn't make sense IC, how do you unbuckle before uncuffing yourself? You can't click off the buckle thing without hands and your hands are very much restrained so it just breaks physics.
LordFowl Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 (edited) I am interested to know why this is labelled as a request to "revert"? I am fairly certain this has been a thing since the Baymerge, since even before the Baymerge. Since forever, in fact. Edited January 28, 2019 by LordFowl
Resilynn Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Regardless of how long it’s been around, I dislike it too and am all for removing it.
CampinKiller Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 My main issue with this is how hard it actually is to get out of cuffs. It’s not something that is an easy task, hence why it is not simple in game. Imagine being handcuffed to a chair in the real world - how would you get out of the handcuffs and chair in 2 minutes?
KingOfThePing Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 With the obligatory hair pin in your sleeve, obviously.
Butterrobber202 Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 (edited) Here is an idea, it takes two minutes to escape normal nonbuckled, as it is. Then just tack on an extra 30 seconds or minute when you are buckled. If you escape from the chair, obviously the cuffs would drop to with this method. Edited January 28, 2019 by Butterrobber202
Carver Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Could make it so you have the option to uncuff MUCH faster (let's say 30 seconds over 2 minutes, via having harm intent enabled) but in the process you break an arm/bend a shoulder proper out of place. Easy getaway potential but too crippled to be a major threat.
