geeves Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/7878 * Added a new category to the traitor uplink, which is only available to revolutionaries. * Head Revolutionaries now spawn with an uplink that has 50 TC, they also get an alert telling them to not abuse it. * Revamped the drill dropper into a generic orbital dropper, capable of dropping ANY sort of item you wish it to. * Added a Mech orbital dropper. Added an Armory orbital dropper. * Made loyalty implants display their text correctly when they implant someone. * Added aggression implants, which makes whoever it is implanted into extremely aggressive. Quite useful for starting a revolution. * Added some description_antag to mercenary cipherkeys, informing the reader that the mercenary radio key is :t. * Added a gear crate (not for mercs) which is just six syndicate softsuits. Useful in a pinch.
BearSchwanz Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 People already treat revolution as traitor with extra steps, not sure how this will do anything but escalate it. I love the idea in the sense of having proper RP, escalation and gimmicks but otherwise if we're still expecting the common "join my company" head rev and the lone head loyalist cadet I'm not sure what this would cause rev rounds to devolve into but team death matches.
Arrow768 Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 I have severe concerns that this just ends up like that most of the time: Quote Queue thinly veiled bullshit announcement that is barely believeable. "We must protect us against the bad cooperation" Spawn guns Start (T)DM
N8-Toe Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 I like this. I like it a lot. opens up Rev to other gimmicks in my opinion by giving them the teeth to carry it through.
Carver Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 This looks interesting enough that I'll actually want to play the game mode again. As it were, I don't see it possibly ending up anywhere near as bad as Crossfire. If I may suggest, have the six softsuit bundle come w/ gas masks and extended emergency oxygen tanks as well.
Hendricks Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 Honestly I love it. Revolution is so stale. A little chaos spices things up, can you go more in depth on the ‘aggressive implants’ though. Because when I imagine extremely aggressive I imagine low tier trying to kill everyone hulk style. Like can you be persuaded? Can you only be angry at what your told to hate? Like, I need some deets or everyone is valid.

The softsuit bundle comes with: 6x Softsuit body suits, 6x Softsuit helmets, 6x Double-Tank Extended Oxygen Tanks It's black and orange, syndicate-ish style. 1 hour ago, Hendricks said: Honestly I love it. Like, I need some deets or everyone is valid It just makes the user angry, supposedly. "Rage courses through your body!" style. The anger isn't really directed, so if someone hurts you and implants you with it, and it makes you angry, you're probably going to beat the shit out of them. If they manage you convince you that command is evil, THEN inject you, your anger might be directed towards command. A problem that I think Rev has is that it's difficult to justify your character going "ya know what? im going apeshittt". by implanting them with something that makes them super fucking pissed, i think your character going apeshittt is a bit more possible, and justified. Roger. Thanks for elaborating and that is kind of what I was hoping for too.
Uaine Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 I feel like a lot of people have so little faith in their fellow players on Aurora. Yes, there might be instances where Revs turn the round into TDM. That'd be very unfortunate. But I think something simillar could be said for any gamemode on SS13. Lets not look at this negatively from the start. I think some good Rev players will make great plays and narratives out of this update.
mwhit030 Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 This all looks really good. Hopefully people will stop complaining about rev being boring when shit blows up more.
Garnascus Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Long long LONG overdue and a much requested change. I think this will easily make rev rounds more fun.
FreshRefreshments Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 50 TC just seems like a bit much, to me. How much does the Armory dropper cost? It should be quite a bit, considering some of the firepower in it. I guess if 100 TC for two Head-Revs is also for the entire Revolution. I also have an idea of, maybe make the Orbital Dropper a gun on its own, but the ammo it takes are types of maybe cards? Chips that you insert and lock down something to send. Miners get a drill chip when they buy the dropper, but an antag Rev can buy "Armory" and "Mech" chips from their own buy thing. Itd also allow (maybe) an easier way to add more antag droppers later, if someone wants to. Also, an "Aggression Implant" might give a tiny dose of Red Nightshade? A drug that literally makes your screen tinted red and makes you absolutely batshit furious. Maybe an "Aggression+ Implant", where both of them give you periodic messages about being fuming, but the + Version gives you an extra boost for a little while. Its also entirely possible this is a terrible idea, and just whats in the changes for now is fine.

geeves Posted January 8, 2020 Author Posted January 8, 2020 item_cost is how much TC the thing costs to buy.

Carver Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 @geeves How many implants come with the aggression bundle? I feel that a reduction to 5 points may be advisable as they are, in effect, a purely RP-based implant that can very well backfire on the user. It may result in them being somewhat spammable (unless a purchase limit, let's say 2-3 bundles per head rev, were implemented) but it's not exactly easy to implant people as it is, so I don't see an issue with it.
geeves Posted January 10, 2020 Author Posted January 10, 2020 I'll let it sit for a while, I don't want to make balance changes right now with no data. If a rev round gets rolled (unlikely) or voted (please do), gimme your feedback here on what you'd like to see changed.
