Species you are applying to play: Vaurca

What colour do you plan on making your first alien character: One of the C'thur hives! 🟣

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Read through all of it but going through each individual brood just to make sure.

Why do you wish to play this specific race: I want to play a Vaurca because you can be so out there with the character and really go off the deep end if you're playing one of the more outrageous broods. It offers such a wide range of personalities and broods that all come with their own quirks and gimmicks. Being able to play a character that I can have a lot of fun with, being more "alien" is definitely going to keep me hooked. I love the lore too! The entirety of the VR which is so ingrained in their culture is going to be exciting for me too, especially when I get to decide what MY character's VR would look like, what they do in there and how it would reflect when I play them. The conflict that can arise from the different broods is great too, because I'm such a lover of conflict. The fact that you can despise another Vaurca just because of their standings and clash with them interests me too.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: You're not JUST getting yourself a new fancy free radio hivemind to mess around with when you play Vaurca but, you're going to have to go into it with an entire new mindset of emotions, sensation and feeling. Where a human might have their own opinions and personalities that shape them when you play, a Vaurca is much more rigid in that sense. You're created to do whatever job you've been told to do, and your purpose is your purpose during your lifetime. The feelings you express don't come through the average "say" command but, now through a network where you must express how you feel through your me's. Not to mention the fact there's an entire section of Vaurca they are specifically grown to be lobotomised and do the most menial of tasks. You won't find that playing a human!

Character Name: Ka'Akaix'Nakoz C’thur

Please provide a short backstory for this character: Created not just in the decadent, eccentricity of it's makers, Nakoz was to be made in the obsessive study of brains. What exactly made them tick, when, where, and how to manipulate the construct of will in all species with such ability. Insatiable greed turned passion for work, where pleasure, often anesthetised in other forms, comes from the curing of any patient. Lifetimes of scrutiny played out in the virtual realities of Her Realm, patient after patient alleviated from their mental woes, all unwittingly drawn into Nakoz and their elaborate self-indulgent machinations. Well-being is backseat to the desires of Xetl’s excess and grandiose plans. While Nakoz claims to be a healer of the mind, one to be trusted with the comfort and care you should expect, the methods used often prioritise their own sensations and gratification, as Xetl would have it. The Realm is a playground to seek the newest of experiences and sensations to satisfy; patients become objectives to cure in the grand game, as Nakoz revels in their vulnerability and cures all ills for the personal gain of the hive.

As if inevitable, the unconventional behaviours of Nakoz and it's twins, were soon to spread word to none other than Zeng-hu, who became intrigued by the unorthodox methods employed by Xetl, the most voracious of Queens, and her new fascination with all things psychological. Recognising the potential of these unique approaches to the mind, Zeng-Hu sought to harness the talents of the workers born into this line of work and put together an experiment focused on the Vaurcae study of mind and its efficacy. As a part of this new agreement with Xetl, Zeng-Hu provided the collection of workers with all that was needed to continue their research in whatever fields Zeng-Hu saw fit. In return, Zeng-Hu expected results. Results that would cement their position as a leader in medical advancements.

Nakoz was offered a position aboard the Horizon, a ship not exactly known for its prowess in mental health, as a Psychiatrist within Zeng-hu. Now that they are in a position of power, reports of detailed evaluations could be slowly drip-fed back to the Hive. Unbound by ethical constraints, Nakoz continued to pursue their goal of total mental elevation, curing patients by any means necessary, for it was not only a goal to better their mind but also the patient as a person.

What do you like about this character?: I've wanted to play a "crazy" Vaurca for such a long time IT'S ABOUT TIME I GOT TO BE CRAZY! But, seriously? I have always loved seeing Xetl characters come in with the most wackiest of gimmicks and then turning them into a fully fledged characters. I'm excited to write out some outrageous paperwork and disclaimers for RP that people can sign when they come into the office, and I'm even more excited to see what people are going to think about them! 

How would you rate your role-playing ability?: Goolies/10 (SEVEN, EIGHT?!)

A lot of people don't treat Goolies entirely seriously, but I think that's a mistake and I mean this wholly unironically and without even an ounce of jest: Goolies is absolutely one of Aurora's best roleplayers. He's in a league of his own and I think very few people are on his level. I have no doubts that he'll play a Vaurca well.

Ska'zaszhk Guwan is genuinely the funniest chef I've ever seen on the station, the absolute amount of work that goes into small things like the menu that Sk'zaszhk uses? 10/10 absolutely charming. Is hard workand the ability transferrable to different species? I mean, probably! You decide

I feel like the whitelist is basically a formality for goolies. He's been around for so long with such consistently good characters that I really don't see a way he fails at playing the species without dropping some racist shit in chat and disappearing into the Atlantic. Goolies also cares a TON for the lore and always makes something interesting happen. Hard +1

While I know from experience that Goolies tend to go a little overboard in making very eccentric characters, I know he's a great character writer and I, personally, would love to see him play a Xetl C'thur. I think he would use the whitelist with a lot of respect, despite impressions. (jk ilu) +1
