The testing I did with Kaedwuff resulted in messages being squelched whenever the attacker was in darkness; ignoring the victim's vision flags, dark sight value, or eyewear (NVG). Blindness also will squelch the messages, but through a different mechanism. I can't say for sure that it's tied to the lighting engine's brightness, but it seems likely from what limited testing we did.

How it currently works in the event is that cutting the wires in a vendor resets it (though it can be re-infected), and repairing/destroying the origin vendor (which is mentioned in the initial announcement) fixes all vendors on the entire map immediately, ending the event. I'm not entirely sure, but I think disabling the speaker on a vendor also counts as fixing it. EDIT: Reading is hard. Misinterpreted what you were saying.

I'll be happy with it just to spite you.

I'm going to agree with Sonic here, I really don't think the Tesla should be moved up to the main level. The supermatter is much more manageable on failure & can be saved/ejected, however a Tesla is effectively a shuttle call if it reaches the main level due to there being no way to stop it once it breaches containment.

This replaces construction.

I'd be willing to work on this (considering that I helped with the idea), though I'd like feedback on it first.

[Resolved] Staff Complaint - NanakoAC
Lohikar replied to Scheveningen's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
I am so very tired of dealing with Nanako's bullshit. Minor disagreements exploding into multi-hour arguments; medicore, untested code that has broken the live server at least once if not more; the sheer futility of trying to come to any kind of amicable agreement during any kind of argument, etcetera. Dealing with Nanako has become a chore at best, sanity-rending at worst, and is impeding my ability to contribute to development. The few weeks when Nanako was out of commission due to technical difficulties felt more productive than any before them, and the development channel was calm, aside from one or two minor squabbles that were later solved without further conflict. The longest PR comment-wise was (probably) portable-ladders, and the majority of the comments were requested changes. Within a few days of Nanako's return, we had a PR reach 53 (!) comments, with numerous comments being walls of text. Why must it be this way. -
[Resolved] Staff Complaint - NanakoAC

I'm sorry, what? -
If anything, remove the one that we have now and add the moderate severity one as pretty rare. Seems like every round all of the vendors across the station are launching stuff at me to the point where it's more annoying oocly than icly because engineers are always too busy to come fix it. This is what the PR does in its current state - it replaces the existing event with a rarer one that's better telegraphed that eventually gets dangerous.

I more thought of them as having wheels to assist with moving them around, considering how easy it is to move them in-game.

A few days ago I made this PR (https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/2435) with the intent of making Brand Intelligence (the event that causes vendors to throw crap at people) more dangerous if engineering ignored the issue. The current changes in the PR mostly affect what happens when the vendors are ignored and every vendor on-station is infected. Once all vendors are infected, they have a 70% chance to uproot themselves and start chasing people down the hallways dealing moderate amounts of brute damage (killable like any other mob). If they do not uproot themselves, they have a 30% chance of exploding (weakly). Otherwise, nothing happens to the vendor. Before they go rogue, the command announcement will list what type of vendor the origin machine is, and the origin machine's spoken lines will change to a more aggressive set. If the origin machine is reset or destroyed, all vendors on the map are reset and the event ends immediately. Several people have expressed concern about these changes being unrealistic or meme-y, so I'd like to know if anyone has any suggestions for alternative ways to make the event more punishing while keeping things sane & somewhat believable. EDIT: It's worth noting that the PR makes the event rarer as well by bumping it to a Moderate severity event instead of Mundane.

I don't think this is the way to go about making death more meaningful. Cloning mainly exists as a method of allowing people to re-enter play after being killed, and there's currently no alternative. Voting for dismissal.

Showing borgs and AI on the manifest for ghosts and lobbyers.
Lohikar replied to TrickingTrapster's topic in Archive
I would be for having synthetics listed in the OOC manifest shown to ghosts & players in the lobby as the OP originally suggested. Adding it to the crew manifest was not the original suggestion, and I don't feel it particularly makes sense; synthetics are not crew, they are tools. -
If you're having issues with the lighting engine drawing as rainbow squares, this may help you unbreak it. (Some of this also applies to space parallax) Restart BYOND This probably won't fix it, but it's quick to do. Toggle GPU acceleration Open spess. Click the SS13 logo in the left of the titlebar. Navigate to Client -> Preferences. Uncheck 'Use graphics hardware for displaying maps'. Hit OK. Go back to preferences. Turn 'Use graphics hardware for displaying maps' back on. OK. Install DirectX Sometimes BYOND forgets to install DirectX when it installs itself or something. This is the version of DX that BYOND expects (MS Official Download): https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 (You may need to reboot after installing this) If none of these work, send me a PM and I'll see if I can help.

When you say an indicator to show what tool the borg has equipped, do you mean just a note in the examine text, or an actual sprite change to the borg?

Currently, there's a 99% chance that the supermatter removes the station's z-levels from consideration for z-transfer. Normal z-transfer probabilities still apply after this, so the chance really is quite low.

It's literally a reskinned fork, it doesn't do much damage. As for it being contraband, it should be fairly obvious to players that bringing a knife to work is generally frowned upon.

This is a bug with the particular UI theme you are using. Please post an issue here: https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/issues

It is worth noting that this has not been merged into development yet.

The poncho loved you, and you're turning your back on it? Have you no sense of loyalty?

Humans already have benefits over xenos. No job restrictions. Highest sprint endurance. Socks (although Skrell have this too) Paid more (more money in your round-start account on average). No requirement to refit voidsuits. They don't need any buffs or special abilities; they're a baseline.
