[Accepted] SeniorScore's Command Application
DeadLantern replied to SeniorScore's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
If you are going to be belligerent, you can not be whitelisted. You can't just walk up and be whitelisted. This is a very casual application, but I'm not here to talk about that. There is no need to be so hostile, too, to the constructive criticism you have garnered. And in this message, you have outlined the reasons why this whitelist can't be accepted. How do you expect to be whitelisted if you haven't been active in some time? Like I said, you can't just walk up and expect a whitelist to be handed to you. You should be active, on server, at least a few weeks prior to the app, and be active during the time it is up. And then you say that the lore is not interesting to you. Why play if the setting is not interesting? And you even stated that you've STOPPED playing because it wasn't interesting anymore. I fail to see how you think that this can be accepted. You've outlined the points why you shouldn't be, and to top it all off, you're being an asshole. -
[Denied] Changeling Revision
DeadLantern replied to DaTimeSmog's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
How will this actually mechanically change the changelings? The number one complaint of lings are that their whole toolset and playstyle goes against RP and is very murderbony, most of the time. Or does it just give lore for the changelings? Also, recycling is a very healthy way of saving the Earth. Also, you are scum. -
There is literally no problem with this, and I don't think it is hard to code in. This should be added in.
-
Just to add. Alb said he was removing Faysal from the Aurora, soon. Take this as you will.

Thread making me think whitey and halorocks have come back. Stay safe today
-
Except they're not. Their people live in constant fear of attack, with little to no centralizied government, and goveners can do literally whatever they want and invade other Govener's lands.
-
Could we please get a new design sooner? I am going to have an aneurysm if I can't edit or not being able to see new posts without navigating to a whole different screen.

[Denied] The Province of Arabia
DeadLantern posted a topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
Type (e.g. Planet, Faction, System): Province of Earth, addition to the Sol Alliance Founding/Settlement Date (if applicable): Settled by humans at around 8800 B.C.E, Province instituted at 2140, when the Sol Alliance was born Region of Space: Earth, Sol Controlled by (if not a faction): Sol Alliance Other Snapshot information: Basically, some backstory on the province of Arabia on Earth. Long Description: Due to the crisis of 2127 and the various economic problems affecting the globe, a deal was made with the nations of Earth and the U.N to create a single world government. Debates on what should happen were intense, with all nations raising some objection to every deal. Saudi Arabia was one such objector. The Saudi family had held the throne for so long, after so many years of oppression and rulers. They were steadfast and stubborn; they would not give up their sovereignty. Even if the Saudi King, Jafari, was made governor of the province, it would still not be a suitable deal. Their sovereignty was something the Saudis raised every time at every debate, some semblance of independence from the Alliance. Eventually, time was running out, and the problems plaguing the Earth were only quickening. Every other nation had come to an agreement, but Arabia remained staunch. A deal was broken with Saudi Arabia, one that was more inclined to Saudi interests. Saudi Arabia would become part of the Sol Alliance--But a monarch system remained for the position of Governor, allowing the Saudi Family to still continue in royalty. Along with this, they were given their own military and the ability to manufacture province laws without the eyes of the Sol Alliance upon them, as long as they did not break any current laws. This essentially made them independent--Almost immediately, a Jizya tax was put forth, and the military started to recruit. It was these gifts given by the Alliance that allowed Saudi Arabia and other nations to break off during the civil war of 2260 and form The Republic of Elyra. In the period between the civil war and the formation of the Province (At this time, the province was still named "Saudi Arabia"), it was relatively peaceful. The province was not affected by Global Warming as much as other nations did, and they sat on large petroleum reserves. This allowed for great expansion across the Arabian Peninsula. However, after the break off and the civil war, the Saudi Family left with the other nations to form the Elyra. Many important citizens that once inhabited Arabia left it, so a "Brain Drain" occured. As well as that, infrastructure began to suffer. The only citizens left are those that actively opposed Saudi rule, and those were few. After the chaos was subdued, the Alliance gave monetary bonuses who migrated to North Africa and Arabia, similar to what America did with its western frontier. Many people took the place of the original citizens, mostly those from neighboring provinces, such as from Nigeria, Pakistan, and the African Confederation. With this, Arabia recovered from the disorder. The Saudi line was ended by Nigerian diplomat Maduka Mohammed, who was put in by the Alliance to be the next governor. The Jizya task was abolished, and its province rights was restored to normal. Arabia is now governed by Obo Almasi, who started as a lawyer in the province. Arabia sees hulking cities now even in the harsh desert, turning the once inhabitable into whole towns. It is extremely developed, and breeds new goals for engineerings and sciences. The capital has remained Riyadh since the Saudis. With Muslim presence now being on a galactic scale, the city of Mecca could not withstand the amount of pilgrimages happening on a yearly basis. Many of the urban areas and modern monuments such as the Kingdom Clock Tower were tore down, with the monuments being rebuilt in other places. Mecca is now mostly barren, and there are no permanent citizens. The MHMSA (Mecca and Hajj Management and Security Agency) guards the city and facilitates the activities during Hajj. They also manage the various museums and mosques in the city. Anyone who works in Mecca works for the MHMSA. They also manage the spaceport, built 5 miles from Mecca, and the security for any tourists. Around 1 billion pilgrims come every Hajj, so the funds appointed to the MHMSA are large in number. -
When will the new redesign be out, estimated time?

[Accepted] Mwhit's IPC Application

You can edit the whole backstory of your app--I've done that multiple times, and have had the app still be accepted. You should continue with the app, just change the character. -
Make C'thur follow the Rules
DeadLantern replied to DeadLantern's topic in Accepted/Implemented Policy
Ok, fair. I, personally, am not seeing anyone react to the C'thur situation, but that is just me. -
Not for vendors. Vaurcae are hated, loathed. I hate the Zo'ra drink vendors, too, there should be minimal inclusion for the Vaurca. I am fine with it being it in game or even able for the chef to make it, but there should not be pampering.
-
The C'thur are an interesting concept. I am not contesting that. But, due to the C'thur's situation right now, they are able to skip the Avowal process that all other Vaurcae must go through. If you are not aware, for an unbound Vaurca to be anything other than Lab assistant, Security cadet, or a medical intern, they must be formally promoted by a Head of Staff to be anything else in that respective department. They can still be any civ job, though. The C'thur can pass through this process because they are in a different situation with the other hives. This is interesting, but as it stands, it's basically a fast track for Vaurca players to avoid racism and IC contact to be promoted. This does generate IC conflict, but I have never seen it adressed. I propose that an IC corporate rule be passed for Nanotrasen that states "All Vaurcae, no matter their hive, must be promoted upon the station they work at to have a job other than low level workers or trainees."

But can you tell us what the new services might be, what the disabled features are, how will the design change, etc etc

Deja Vu, isn't it?

These new Forums have a reputation thing, where you can give a post likes and it adds to your like meter. Can we get 50 likes?

This really does not make sense. How would the user hide the ID? He just covers the name tag? Why not just put it in your pocket? Or put on a gas mask? Seems pretty useless and does not make sense.

[Accepted] DeadLantern's 2nd IPC whitelist
DeadLantern replied to DeadLantern's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Thaaaanks so much for commenting. Yes, he would be robotic and soulless to any action put upon him, whether it is violence or kindness. He will do what his logic dictates. But he will not shrug it off. He will think about it. For a long time. Why did that person do that? He would use the same logic, but in further detail. He might act upon these thoughts, too. -
[Accepted] DeadLantern's 2nd IPC whitelist
DeadLantern replied to DeadLantern's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Alright, so just g1 color. -
I am heavily in favor of this. Even if the intention of resisting cuffs was not to escape from sec, that is what it is used for now. Anything that could be used to promote gimmicks and antaggery is a +1 from me. What is interesting? A 5 minutes round where the traitor is arrested and sits in brig all day. Or a round where the traitor is arrested within 5 minutes of the round, but by luck, escapes, manages to kill a security officer, escape into maint, and fulfill his dastardly deeds? This is very much needed as cuffs are a game over to antags, most of the time. +1.

BYOND Key: DeadLantern Character Names: Ka'Viax'Likx K'lax, Yamina S'raka, Ismail ibn iman al-farsi Species you are applying to play: IPC or Machine What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): G1 chassis color. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Ye Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Not much has changed since my first whitelist attempt and this one, in terms of why I want to play it. The amount of backstories is immense, and conflict is everywhere. IPCs are so controversial that each species probably has their own take on them. Depending on the faction, humans may love IPCs, hate them, or see them as just tools. Skrell despise them. Unathi despise them. Etc, etc, and this will always create conflict. Conflict is why I play this game, and conflict is what makes it fun. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: On the outside, they may seem like carbon-copies of human personalities put into a machine. This is far from the case. They are designed to mimic human behavior, but that can only go so far. They will always weigh out choices, seeing what causes what and what this choice may do to something. They are logical and uniform, and will not differ from the same thinking practice. Personalities are all different, but they always are logical and without passion. IPCs are *designed* to have personalities, they do not have them. They will always follow them. The mechanical differences are there too--They do not breathe, they need cooling machines in order to go into EVA, and EMPs could be lethal. Character Name: Columbus Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs A Hephaestus Generation 1 Frame produced in '46, around the time such chassis were in high demand for megacorporations in the galaxy. This was before Biesel had instituted the need for rights of these synthetics, and so could easily be shipped to construction sites and mining operations in that area. This specific machine, Columbus, was sold to Nanotrasen. Many of its choices were made by the corporations above him, and so Columbus never had a choice in anything. This tailored him to follow orders, but questions arose. Why did he have to follow what these corporations say? Why is he doing this? Does he not have free will? He never asked these questions, and so he was moved on about from mining operation to mining operation. Digging for phoron, anything, to meet the daily quotas and to gather as many points. Columbus was used to this. No one cared about Columbus, he was just a tool, and even when he was given rights, they really did not matter. At least, until people started wearing armbands declaring empathy towards machines like him, and then people accused him of being a terrorist, and suddenly *his* kind could be heads of staff--Was this his time? To rise above the rest? Columbus shrugged everything off. He had a job to do, and he worked for it. He still did question it. The controversies only kept on coming, and that kept him asking on why he was still here. He did his own research, and found the answer. Glorsh. The 3 incidents. Now he could see why he was a tool, not a respectable partner. The Skrell's dominance over the galaxy. Yes, he could see it. They were powerful, and now they keep synthetics like Columbus as tools. There was no need to forward these questions to anyone. He just had to do his job. But he was thinking. He was still questioning. And those beliefs are still with him, even as he mines for the same old corporation. What do you like about this character? He knows the truth about his existance, but he does not act upon them. This makes him interesting to play. What could ignite these ambitions he has inside of him, his synthetic pride, and what could that lead on the station? What could happen when he is pushed to the limits? And will he keep on mining? I am excited to know, and I haven't even played him yet. How would you rate your role-playing ability? average Notes: Please see my first application if you want to see my growth.
