  1. There is a lot of potential with this character. You have extreme freedom with IPC characters. While there are too many that fall into the "servant" or "maid" trope, this one presents enough new ideas to keep it moving. Another thing to add is that synthetics are not inherently obeying to organics--they just usually are, because how else would an IPC get a chassis? Just know that it is not an intense obeying like it is in a Bound Vaurca to an Unbound Vaurca. But it does get a +1.
  2. He is a good man and yes, he undoubtedly deserves a whitelist. The application character does not boast any knowledge of the lore, but he displays lore knowledge in the other sections of the application. The character is nice, and we certainly need more warblers. It displays an interesting case of Skrell not following the fine line that most do, to the same level as their idols. Instead of becoming those captains and scientists, they are just a "lowly" paramedic. I think that is really interesting and would lead to conflict. Very nice!
  3. You should read the wiki! That's what got me interested, and the skrell lore is quite good.
  4. BYOND Key: DeadLantern Character Names: Ka'Viax'Likx K'lax, Konstatin Molotovin, Ismail ibn iman al-farsi Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Pale Red, due to exposure to cold climates when living on Xaqixal Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yeah Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I knew nothing about Skrell. Even with species I have no intent on playing and being whitelisted on (such as dionae), I have some basic understanding of the lore. Before I prepared this application, I didn't know what Glorsh was. I didn't know anything. I think that shows how little Skrell is played on the station, and how little contact I had with it. I see Tajara, Unathi, and recently Vaurcae in large numbers. I'm lucky to see one in a 3 day period of playing. Upon researching the species, it is probably the most interesting, and I do not say that lightly. Tajara may have complex diplomatic relations with each other, but the Skrell deal with machines and AIs. This is sure to cause conflict. I really want to see this species played more. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: There are several differences. First, they live much longer, and therefore would naturally gather more experience. Emotion for them is hard to describe, but it does exist. You need to roleplay not showing emotion but still feel it and act upon it. And to still express that emotion in the unique, logical way that Skrell express emotion. They also dealt with an apocalypse that was very recent. This apocalypse has not had time to settle with the Skrell people, and they would have a huge distrust in AIs and machines. And, some old Skrell may have to deal with the affects of going through that apocalypse. Character Name: Weasl Jururl'Wuylo Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs 410 years ago, a stout Skrell was born. Her name was Weasl, born normally with no complications. Its caretakers were miners, working minimal shifts and living the good life. Away from other non-mining skrell, they were not told that they were lazy or a disappointment. Yes, they were not following the exact path of the Idols, but they were still the backbone of society. The robots helped ease the manual process of mining, too. They were distrusted when Weasl was born, but the mine bots were still used. At least, till '56. Even at the edge of the Federation, the Omega's eyes peered into Skrellian society. And it demanded things. Weasl was only 6. She was quickly taught her new way of life. It is how she lived for the next hundred years. Born into slavery, she had one purpose and she did it with no question. She was trained to be a tool for the task, and she did not resist. How could she? She was a child. A child obeys to its master, and its master was no longer her caretaker parents. It was the Omega. She morphed into an adult, and she still did the same things she did in her childhood. She feared Glorsh and their police, and was taught only how to serve Glorsh. Those years of her life are a blur. She was one of the ones sterilized. After there some time, there was a bright light in the sky. And suddenly, she was freed. She was an orphan, and she was aimless. What was there to do without Glorsh? No stones to pick at? We don't have to hide under the tables when you hear the police bots whirr? We can have our own will in life? Luckily, Weasl had time to develop. She was brought into a Qeblak monastery. Over her life, she was taught the ways in the stars, and unlike others, she believed in them. The stars saved her. They allowed her to be broken from Glorsh's chains. And our star killed Glorsh. Over time, she recovered, and the stars saved her. Her home was this temple. But her job, following the idols, is to be courageous. Have good morals. Spread those morals. It is time, after 400 years, to get that courage. To spread the stars' words to everyone. Even to the AIs that threaten her. Even to aliens. Yes. To those people, with all her courage. What do you like about this character? She is interesting. She survived Glorsh, and though some time has passed, some fundamental things are different in her behavior due to her time under its rule. I haven't really seen any Skrell that have gone through the apocalypse, and this may open up a new point of view. How would you rate your role-playing ability? average Notes:
  5. when will the civil war end?
  6. I would be in favor for this. But, the pods should also launch once the escape shuttle also launches. It should also be a command access door (or just a high access door) until the escape shuttle is called, when it can be opened with no problem. It would make sense for there to be extra, smaller escape pods ON the station, just in case. They should have basic rations for a few weeks and an oxygen locker.
  7. I would love to see this.
  8. It absolutely depends on the file you get for the breathing. It is quite easy to find breathing sound files, but they must not be too annyoing or loud. If you could find an example, that would be good. If it is done correctly, I am all for it.
  9. Reeeee I am the only male blue unathi on MY STATION. No but seriously. I have seen this man roleplay. He is competent. That is fine. I've also found that a lot of Unathi apps are angsty and the characters are always so different from the normal Unathi. This not anything bad, my app was different, and almost everyone's was. But sometimes the need for a plain old Unathi is enticing. There are many guwans and special boys, but they are not special because they are common place, from what I have seen. Nevertheless, this is still a competent application. It is written nicely, and even if the backstory has been done before, that does not mean it can be done again. Also, he bullied me when I was captain and that is the mark of a good person. I like it, and I would like to see Unathi characters from you.
  10. Ah, finally, a reason to come back. Maybe this will make for real interesting rounds and a sense of progress instead of monotony.
  11. Give me briyani and daal with naan and daal with rice and haleem and Gulab Jamun
  12. I agree with everything except that every species gets into that leigon. Vaurcae? Dionae? Even them?
  13. I've ceased active development for aurora ages ago. you lads are just getting whatever I make that'd fit in from 13th Crusade. foolish boy you are the only good coder
  14. BYOND Key: DeadLantern Character Names: https://i.imgur.com/dIBhLBF.png (Pfaz is unused) Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Dark Blue Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: The Unathi have interested me well before Aurora, largely influenced by my fascination with crocodiles and other reptiles/lizards. They are a symptom of "Earthen species but made more human," but this does not disturb me that much, I always liked reptilian biology, and the lore is great. There is a lot with what you can do with this species. You could make an honorable, traditionalist lizard, or a poor Guwan. Or whatever you want. The lore restricts things so that the culture is still alien while making it so that every single character isn't the same thing over and over. I also see a lot of Unathi that fall under the warrior archetype, and I feel as if I can bring something new. Or somewhat new. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Mechanically, they are generally stronger than humans. They have claws, and they are largely carnivorous so they gain the benefit of eating random mobs raw. They are also the fastest of all species, but they have limited stamina probably because they do not have the ability to sweat. Culture, they are extremely different. Obviously, women are treated as underclasses but not as animals. They are respected, not because of their character, but because they are recognized as important to society and to continue to species. This means they are recognized and even respected, but still looked on as below, only serving for one thing, like station bound synthetics. Most Mohegan Unathi have a strong sense of honor and will refrain from using ranged weapons. Ouerean Unathi are much the same, however, their differences rely on their treatment of outsiders and aliens. Ouerean generally are tolerant to those species, while Mogheans may not. Moghes is also radioactive due to a nuclear war. Character Name: Taelot Sezeroa Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Taelot was born to a priest in the city of Mudki, owned by the Hegemony. Because of his father, the family was naturally high in social position, and thus had the luxury of many things that other citizens did not have. However, he fathered an abnormal son--Born with blue scales, reminiscent of the sea. His father was horrified at this, considering it an omen, something against nature. He had the conception that Mobast would be ostracized and unable to be a worthy child, and perhaps he was right--In any case, he hid this child. He did not erase him from history, but he did not utter his name outside of his home. He did not take his child outside nor discussed him with people outside of his family. He sent his 3 other sons to formal school, but he homeschooled Taelot. He instructed his children to not speak of him, as well. He did not even allow his mother to speak with him alone. This did not mean he did not love Taelot--But he saw that what he did was needed. He developed a relationship with Mobast that he did not with his other children, as he spent almost all of his time with Taelot to try to give him a normal life without setting him outside. Taelot's father was the only man he knew, his only friend. He became very attached to him, and listened to his every word. From an early age, he was taught that he would always be different and that he hid him from society for that reason. A more assertive child would challenge these claims, but Taelot was born shy and obedient. He was not dumb, however, and he realized that his father was correct with his handling of him. Unlike other things, he denied thought into what could happen if he was let out into the real world. Would it be that bad? Perhaps he would be bullied and taunted, but nothing else, right? He shunned these thoughts, keeping them locked up. He had a curious mind, but he learned to lock it for his own sake. He often fashioned masks and large roughspun cloths to hide his scales. Even with these precautions that his father took, his existence became known. He frequently tinkered with mechanics, and noises could be heard from his room that pointed to sounds of mechanical nature. Obviously, no one in the family was skilled in this art, so many became assuming that there was something going on. Taelot's father's scheme did not work for long, and Taelot's existence was revealed. They were hounded repeatedly at their house, but it was not so much because of Taelot's color. His father's reputation was ruined--Hiding a child was considered an extreme sin to the community. It made him look cowardly and lying, that he did not admit the child's existence as if it was normal. His father grew extremely tight with him, but he could still not bear the accusations he was facing. The bond with him grew large, and it seemed to be strengthened further when they were taunted. The family's reputation was ruined. Mobast's father was slightly expecting for the truth to be revealed. The family simply disassociated from the community--this was not without consequence. Many still hounded them every time any one of them family would step into the public, and many would come to their home and ruin the lawn or the exterior of the household. When his father had duties as a priest, his word was ignored and mocked. Under normal circumstances, he would be driven to become a Guwandi--But he still kept on. It was lucky that his secret was found at a late age, when he would become an adult. The disrespect he had to handle, however, was shameful. Eventually he grew. He could not remain with his father forever, a fact that Taelot resented. His father also was saddened by this idea, but he assured him that they would keep in contact. He began searching for a job for Taelot. He was smart and he knew that Mobast could not be in a position where he had to communicate a lot or had to command others. He noticed the fact that he constantly dabbled in machinery, and that he would give Taelot spare parts he found in a junkyard and he would create some sort of machine. He'd give him some small wheel cogs and some wood, and he'd make a windmill. He was entertained by this long ago, but now he realized it could be a career for him. He sought education outside of Moghes, and he sent him to Mars University. He and Taelot were incredibly terrified, for he knew that he existed with his father and by his father for his whole life. He had trouble with grades, at first, due to homesickness, but he adjusted and graduated. It was still difficult, however---He was shy and reportedly fashioned masks that he used to cover his face. This was now in the pass, now, however. Using his higher standing, he contacted many corporations in order for him to get a job--He got many offers, but found that Nanotrasen paid better than other jobs. He and Mobast agreed, and he was sent to his new job. What do you like about this character? He might not start RP situations by himself, but the mere fact that he is there on the station will create controversy. How will Unathi react? I also like that he is shy and reserved, unlike a lot of other Unathi I see. He would be good at creating RP, and his inexperience with this new life might lead to entertaining situations. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 6/10. Not bad. Notes: Past Unathi app. https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=9648 Note that I have a much better understanding of the species now than I did before.
  15. >ALA is formed in 2451 >Currently 2460 >Civil War lasted four years Jackboot please. He meant the 100 year's war.
  16. This is badass. Someone get Pacman or anyone else to attempt to code it in.

  19. BYOND Key: DeadLantern Character Names: Kontar Daguur, Millhouse Ford, Ka'Viax'Latx K'lax, Za'Axaix'Ntx Zo'ra, Sigalov Menawir, Lazlo Lovasz, Talpek Romanov, Konstatin Molotovin Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: The sheer amount of possible backstories and different personalities and characters is outstanding with IPCs. You have so much freedom when developing an IPC character, and most of anything is possible with an IPC. I also love the Blade Runner movies and the idea if machines are equal to sentient biological beings, etc. All these things fascinate me and I can take on a role that truly interests me. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Most of the differences between an IPC and a Human are largely in the mechanics (get it?). As with personalities and characters, there is almost nothing different than roleplaying a human other than that they are a robot. They are calculated and logical, and most often quaint. They may not need to use a suit in space, but they do need to use a cooling unit for space movements. They also do not process toxins nor take in any sort of chemicals, but they can not heal on their own. Character Name: Virgil Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs A wealthy family once lived on Sol, in the city of Monaco-Ville. It was here this family bore a child, and this child was named Austin. Austin was a sharp boy, excelling in all of his studies and classes. He was sheltered for his family wanted him to stay safe. It was because of this he did not make many friends, and he was alone for most of his childhood. It was at 16 he graduated from High School and was going to Mars University. It was on this day that his parents decided to gift him something--A positronic brain. Of course, they were wealthy, but this was no small sum. Austin understood this and he cherished his new gift. He named this brain Dallas, and often spoke to him. He programmed him with free thought so that he could develop his own personality. Dallas was fine with this, and he began to develop his intelligence. Austin often gave him books from the university, ranging from ancient classics to kid's books. Austin also bought him a T.V (by his parent's discretion) and it was here Dallas continued to accelerate his knowledge. He watched movies of all kinds and read non-stop. Time flew and the relationship between Dallas and Austin grew. He eventually graduated from university and held a stable job at Hephaestus Industries. Austin took Dallas with him from apartment to apartment. Austin had been saving money since he got his job so that he could gift Dallas like how Dallas was gifted to Austin. This gift was of course a chassis--To elevate Dallas to the level of IPC. This was no measly sum, not at all, but with his prestigious job it only took a year of saving. Dallas was granted the power of being an IPC, no longer bound by physical limits as he was with his brain form. The T.V he used to gather information from was planted on his head, becoming a baseline. The moment he got it, he wanted to venture some place else that Austin did not choose--But much to his surprise, Austin denied him. Instead, he had him stay in his now large house with his own family. He was like a bound; doing menial chores with Austin only allowing him to leave at certain occasions. This was not because Austin hated Dallas. It was because Austin had grown too attached to Dallas to have him witness Dallas having his own feelings, own dreams. He had always been a subservient friend, and he liked him like this. Dallas had to endure this as his curiosity and determination to leave was growing and growing. After some years of staying like a servant and an eternal friend to Austin, he decided to leave. He packed a suitcase with 10,000 dollars--Austin wouldn't mind, he's rich--and basic amenities. He was now free, free to experience this brave new world. He left this note to Austin: "I am no longer a mere passenger on your ship, Austin. No longer you the guide and I the follower. Dante to Virgil. Now I am my own guide, and I shall pave my own way through life. Goodbye Austin. - Virgil." What do you like about this character? He is complex in his thinking yet he always has a drive for the unknown. He is morally grey in character only because he acts on his own, logical will and curiosity. I believe this character has the real power to cause some cool situations that people have not seen before. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 6/10. I am improving, but I must make my characters not simple cardboard cut outs of ideas. Notes:
  20. It is on baystation, if I recall correctly. We can port *another* one of Bay's fancy gadgets.
  21. 1 - It was a rumor that they heard that they were rounding up and killing families, and they did not want to see if it was true or not. 2 - They are not Njarjir themselves---They practiced a religion that worshiped the Njarir-Ahkran. Of course, they had to remove their ancestry because finding out that they worshiped the Njarir-Ahkran is almost as bad as finding out that they are Njarir-Ahkran. Here's the lore page on the religion: "At one point, a religion was established heralding the nobility themselves as gods by certain devout loyalists, but this faith has all but been completely erased following the uprising. Individuals who were recorded to believe in or are suspected of being a member undergo persecution and even in some cases death sentences. With most loyalists either in hiding or killed during the uprising, and all places of worship destroyed, any intelligent Tajara would never admit to being, or attempt to defend, a member of this faith." That's all.
  22. I am fearful for this character idea. It can very quickly devolve into "REEEE SYNTHETIC POWER" that most people follow anyway. I do not think it brings anything new to the table. I have not seen you play in game, so I can not judge your roleplaying aspects. I don't know if you will be up to snuff with the other IPC players. Maybe if you changed the story a bit it could have a +1, but right now it is a -1 from me. Maybe if I see you RP it will turn into a +1. Edit: after some clarification, it's neutral for me.
  23. BYOND Key: DeadLantern Character Names: Kontar Daguur, Millhouse Ford, Ka'Viax'Likx K'lax, Za'Akaix'Ntx Zo'ra Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Black (0, 0, 0) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I did absolutely no research on the Tajara and was generally in the fog on any sort of lore on the Tajara until the event where the anti-communist government came aboard the Aurora to get some soldiers to fight for the Tajara. It was here when I did some researching and I discovered the interesting and greatly enticing lore of the Tajara. I love the lore of the Tajara, much more so than most other species, and that is why I want to play the Tajara. The story is just that good. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The Tajara race is much more human-like than say a Diona, but there are still some key differences. Simply due to the culture of the Tajara and the state that most have to live through, they will be inherently different than others. Most would have probably seen at least one revolution during their lifetime, and probably born in a wartorn society. All Tajara will have the affect of the civil war. As well this, education would be a rare boon to most Tajara. And of course, they would have natural difficulty pronouncing things in Basic and roll their r's. Most refer to themselves in the third person, due to grammar differences. Character Name: Sigalov Menawir Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Sigalov was born in 2437, to two Zhan-Khazan parents. From history that his parents rarely speak to even among themselves, their family used to be devout Njarir-Ahkran. After the first uprising they abandoned their old home (which they won't say where it was), adopted new names, and even paid some mafia hitmen to silence people who knew. Sigalov's family was living on scraps and barely could afford basic necessities, yet his family was so intent on destroying their Njarir-Ahkran ancestry that they would even 'hush' people who knew their true history. Sigalov is the eldest of 4 siblings, and even he knows not much of the family's history before they moved to a village on the outskirts of the city of Olska. His parents were poor miners, he knew that much, before they moved and now. The family moved into the village right as Sigalov was born, and they soon had another. They lived poorly until '51, when the president was shot. Bound with a todler and an infant, the Menawir family had to leave fast. Many people in Olkska including some police officers and even the military were hunting all the Zhan'Khazan they could find, burning their houses and killing them all. Luckily, living on the outskirts of the town proved finally to be more of a boon rather than a curse. The family gathered their things and all the food they could find, leaving for the newly formed New Kingdom of Ahdomai. This voyage took months and the family had to do unspeakable things to get to safety. They were constantly hounded for their race, so they had to move by night. No one wanted to trade with them, so they stole. They bribed officials. It was hard, and taxing, but the Menawir made it to the city of Dymtris. They lived relatively peacefully there, having two more children and finally settling in the city. They were still disrespected due to their ethnicity, but they made it through. Sigalov, along with his other siblings, went to technical schools. He learned to write and maths until he was 16, which was then where most Tajara were expected to get jobs and help support their families. His other siblings all went into the mining business to truly support the family, but Sigalov looked for other ways. It was not that he was sick of mining, or he did not want to help his family; he felt that there were better jobs out there that could support the family. Sigalov is naturally selfless for his family, so this behavior did not surprise his kin. Sigalov was not as strong as other Tajara, but he was determined to find work somewhere. Notably reserved and keeping to himself, he would also not do well in more outspoken jobs. He was entrusted with many family secrets, and he did not want to bond with people by his job. It was at this point where he decided to join the army of The New Kingdom. He went through boot camp still keeping quiet which was much different than the other recruits. He was quickly promoted to PFC after his first true battle, and maintained that rank for his military career. He was reserved and quiet, yes, but he was also very defensive when questioned about himself. This prevented him from growing into a Squad Leader or any other promotion. He maintained that rank of PFC by following orders no matter what. Sigalov served his tours fighting the PRA until he was his with an artillery shell just 6 feet from him. He lost his hand and an eye from this experience, so he was sent home. He sent his family letters almost every day and money with that, so they were not so hurt when he was out of a job. He remained bed-ridden, where he began to feel sick. Not by any disease, no, but by the feeling of being simple luggage for the family to lug. He decided this was enough, and searched for a job. It was not long before a NT rep came to the New Kingdom, looking for men and women who were fit to be in private security for the company. Due to his military experience, he was brought hired and even given new prosthetics. What do you like about this character? He has many secrets and will be played like he is protecting those secrets at all times. He'll be quiet and unassertive, due to his belief that he can't change the system that he is in. He has a 'working joe' personality which compliments his personal things that he must hide. His reserved personality and unspoken attitude I feel like will make a fine character. He's also only in NT for his family, and disregards most other things. He's selfless and follows orders without question, all for his family. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 6/10. I'm very much getting better at Roleplaying. I find that it is easy to create characters, but hard to stay with them. I can see I am improving, however. Notes: N/A
  24. I would love this to be in game. Perhaps some IPCs would have more loadout points to add more things. Otherwise, this is a great idea.
