Medical looks sexy enough to make me play medical again after 2 years

To answer your question: 1. I'd say it's both believability and escalation, in a way. HRP tends more to built longer lasting stories with characters and the universe they live in, trying to build a believable world. 2. Yes, clearly, since even people coming from other HRP servers (the little there are) have to adjust to our roleplay standards. 3. People will not know what level of roleplay to expect when seeing the server on the hub. Please explain to me, what "Clubhouse mentality" means, I couldn't figure out what that is. To answer the last question, yes, of course moderators and admins can enforce the server guidelines. But why make it harder by not pre-filtering the people who are just not looking for a HRP enviroment to play in? You make it sound like that is something bad. Some people just want to fuck around with constant chaos. This is fine, but Aurora is just not the place for that. This has absolutely nothing to do with avoiding people to join. It just signals people who do not seek this kind of game to not join the server and waste their time. Again, there is nothing wrong with that. People have different tastes and signalling what kind of taste is needed/wanted for our server is in no form gatekeeping. Everyone is free to join if they want, they just have to follow the rules and standards that are expected of them.

The HRP tag is no form of gatekeeping. Nor is the divide between LRP HRP and MRP something SS13 specific. If someone new looks at the server list, such tags are to help identify the goal and general level of "seriousness" of a server. Someone looking for casual chaotic fun doesn't want to waste his time no a HRP server - which is fine. The levels of RP standards are also fairly different, you can see it with anyone new coming from Bay (I am legally required to point out that this is an example). I don't see anything bad about this tag, nor are they archaic from an older era. Neither is it a "badge" to wear on your chest. It is simply an aid to identify the level of standards that are expected and enforced. I'd even go so far to say that Aurora's RP is indeed heavier than other servers, but you are entirely correct - not because of the label, but of the community that plays and stays here.

Roleplaying: Dialogue and Being Murdered Are The Same Thing
KingOfThePing replied to Marlon P.'s topic in General
I cannot stress how much I agree with this. Also, people pretend like dying is a game ender. You have 20 minutes and then you can literally jump back into it. A lot of people are also CLEARLY scared to kill people now, because players get buttblasted about it and no one wants to deal with complaints (totally understandable). I vividly remember a round where my captain got held at gunpoint and the dude KNEW I WILL RAT HIM OUT TO SECURITY THE SECOND HE RUNS AWAY BUT STILL LET ME LIVE. Because he was afraid I get mad when he shoots me. It's stupid. Killing someone can drive a story. Even if you receive maybe only three lines of dialogue, it can drive a round. Please kill my characters if it helps your round. Please kill my characters if you have no choice. Please kill my characters when it would be stupid to let them live. PLEASE DONT THINK THAT DELIVERING 20 MINUTES OF DIALOGUE IS THE ONLY WAY TO RP. -
Sleepy's Command Whitelist - Goldman Time

This is like your fourth time to apply for Head, why did you lose the whitelist the last times? -
No one wants to fucking sit around for 30 (e.g.) minutes for "injuries" to heal. applying real life logic to SS13 often doesn't work, this is one of those cases. Also your entire concept is kind of levered out by one new chemical everyone in medical will just carry around and instantly inject into everyone who all so much just looks injured ("just in case bro"). prescriptions also are kind of a novelty. prescriptions are for something longer lasting, like something chronic. Having to do a million prescriptions plus the shit you have to do anyway in chemistry sounds just bad. also why does it matter that some chemicals only heal injury damage in "ridiculously small amounts" when everyone is just injecting the new wonder-chemical that converts damage anyway? Dont know what you are trying to fix here, honestly

I could only attend 2 of the 3 events but they were fun. I am biased since I helped out with it but still, I think it was something entirely different for a change. Having a Halloween arc instead of the yearly Halloween party was a nice change, too. The details were very nice and I think the people who actually played got really invested into it. The way how freeform it was, was also pretty impressive. I dont know how limiting SS13 is in this regard, but mystery and (kind of) grounded paranormal stuff is just something I dig big. Currently its hard to keep up with all the lore, but I was sure to take my time to read all the arc related articles and trying to piece it all together. Great stuff. Was just too scared to die in the end so I had to chicken out 😅

Okay, I understand that it is not a top priority. I will suggest it at a later time again, then

I have already said it before and I'll say it again: Rename Head of Security to Chief of Security. We are moving towards real life job titles with the rest - do it here, too. Head of Security is just a very weird title. Chief of Security is a title that sounds better and falls more in-line with the rest of the job titles.

To: Tyki'mhet Krrjashni From: CCIA Division of Appeals Subject: APPEAL 09/07/2463 Resolution _______________________________ BODY: Your appeal to the case file 24630709 MMendez_TKrrjashni has been reviewed. In this process all interviews, internal logs, and all supplement material available has been re-reviewed. You appealed this case with the following: The unusual long amount of time that was needed to resolve the Incident Report at hand. Trauma, resulting from severe injuries, which occured prior to he events outlined in the IR. The claim, that the ISD failed to communicate the reasoning behind the punishment you were to receive. The claim that the ISD specifically targeted you as some sort of scapegoat. The claim that CCIA focued on your behaviour during the IR instead of the misconduct of the ISD. Re-reviewing this case gave me only one possible resolution to your appeal. It will be denied, without a chance to appeal it in the future. I will outline the reasoning how I came to this conclusion in detail below: The amount of time passed between filing and resolving an IR is no indicator for it's quality or accuracy. In your specific case a lot of additional information had to be verified. This process has multiple stages, cooperation with different internal department and needs time. I was not the agent who handled the original report but I see no reason to doubt my former colleague's time management. Together with both the IT Department and the Odin's Medical Department I have done a thorough search through all filed medical records during the shift in question. I also reached out to the Doctor in question, who treated you, prior to the events outlined in the IR. Your claim of receiving traumatic injury could not be verified. According to the Aurora's inventory logs and the Doctor, you lost some blood and broke an unspecified limb during the fight with the blob. The Doctor specifically adressed the issue that the injuries seemed not inflicted by the blob but rather by kinetic force. Since you were still carrying your Kinetic Accelerator with you, I put two and two together and come to the conclusion that these injuries were self-inflicted. You received a splint and some medication for your injuries. The Doctor claims he has seen you returning to the fight afterwards. Only afterwards you received minor surgery to rectify the issue with your broken limb. Moving on, multiple sources suggest that you had all the time you needed to come to the brig. No one was forcing or escorting you. More than two sources also claim that the warrant, together with your expected punishment (around 200 credits fine) was clearly communicated to you, yet at this stage you already were very aggrevated. Your claims the ISD saw you as a scapegoat or the entire situation was to be blamed on you is already a weak argument, since not only the ISD, but also the Captain on shift found you guilty of negligence. You disregarded clear warnings, a clear order over radio and common sense by trying to use a heavily damaged elevator during an emergency situation. Lastly, your claim that only your behaviour was in the focus of the investigation I have hopefully disproved. We conduct our investigations properly and thoroughly. We use all information sources possible and work with the facts at hand. I am finishing this on a personal note, because I am not entirely sure what you hoped to achieve here. The case is clear and I dont know why you'd think we want to re-hire an extremely aggressive, brutal and honestly borderline unstable individual, who loses their temper at any inconvenience. The fact that this re-review uncovered that you not only took the fact that you put the lifes of your co-workers in danger during the outlined events, but already before, by carelessly firing your kinetic accelerator in a confined space, is something I cannot believe was not mentioned in the original report. You can be glad that my former colleague did not submit this report to Biesel police enforcement. Me and NanoTrasen wish you all the best for your future but this future does not include our Corporation. ________________________________ DTG: 25-11:27-TAU CETI STANDARD-10-2463 Sign: E. Torrance

RyverStyx - Spriter Application
KingOfThePing replied to RyverStyx's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I dont accuse anyone of trying to take advantage and trying to extort money from this project. Ryver is probably a good guy and I supported his applications in the past, it was just a really weird thing to do. I don't know, if I would call it a lack of communication, honestly. I laid out my opinion and everyone is, of course, free to disagree, but I stand by the fact that joining as a volunteer and then asking for compensation halfway through is just a bad thing to do.
