  1. Disclamer Purpose of Thread: Rather simple really, post in this thread with things you have done which barely scraped by, things that make sec want to arrest you but you manage to avoid arrest due to wording or regulations, paperwork, etc. Examples: A) Sometimes as a Roboticist if I am so inclined I would have the captain in that shift sign paperwork which authorizes me to claim any bodies which failed cloning, DNC, etc. for cyborgification. Did medical like it? Eh, depends on the death toll, but did I end up with a legion of SSD cyborgs? You bet I did. B) My roboticist is currently trying to gather data on exosuit weapons and plans to make a book about it (making some progress). The first round I did with this objective was blessed with competent RnD and mining, which allowed me to make some equipment and a combat mech. Sadly, there was a bomb in science conference room and sublevel was vented, and engineering said that they cannot repair it before the end of the shift. So here I am with my combat mech and my co-worker, and I am brainstorming how I can test these weapons still. Then it hit me. The holodeck of course! So I ask the Research Director for permission to use the holodeck as a weapons testing range, but they said I should ask the captain. The RD likely was thinking that the captain would never accept such a request and they wouldnt have to worry about it, but they underestimated the power of paperwork. Within 10 minutes I was able to convince the captain to stamp a executive permission form permitting the use of the holodeck as a weapons testing range, provided the RD was supervising and was the Head of Staff who signed it (liability issues I reckon). Victorious, I come to the RD where he signs the form and brings a monkey cube to the holodeck while I have my coworker bring a dropper with a beaker of water and I bring my mech. By now the shuttle was enroute to the station so we knew we had to be quick. So I grab 4 weapons (Machine gun, taser carbine, improv laser, gatling laser) and attach it to the mech. The RD makes a plea in common to clear the holodeck and we see people watching us from outside the holodeck to observe the test. I fire the weapons and we record the damage it caused and their effects, and besides a few stray laser shots ending up outside the holodeck (we had the area below holodeck clear of people) and a stray shot that narrowly missed the gardener in hydroponics I was able to complete my testing. RD expresses his suprised I was able to do all this in LOOC, and we both laugh about it and discuss what is a superior combat mech for the rest of the shift. Now you must be wondering, where was security? Well when we were testing our 2nd weapon (machine gun) the HoS likely heard the shot and ran into the holodeck demanding we stop and for me to exit the mech, likely for a arrest. The RD, me, and my coworkers all say at the same time how the captain approved it, I have a signed permission form, etc. The HoS ran out as soon as he came in, without a word. Overall I am curious who else did things like this, and would like them to share it in this thread!
  2. Already a thing, weapons can only be used for science purposes and cannot leave the science department.
  3. Personally I feel that the development of RnD should be fair game, so the roboticist can build the machines to help streamline mech creation and upgrade their machines. However I feel you should try to raise tech levels unless there are no scientists doing RnD.

  5. Ah yes, I remember when black kois was first implemented... after a few rounds ending after 30 mins kois was nerfed and removed from public seed vendor (yes, this plant was on plantable in hydroponics and garden)
  6. All Hail The Supreme Fax Machine!
  7. The worry I have with this is that people will jsut run around, disable the cameras, and reactivate the terms, which makes the ai screwed over as it loses it's powers. Perhaps have the following enacted: 1. In case of people not willing to activate terms, the synthetic takeover allows for borgs to disable terms 2. Terms cannot be reactivated once disabled.
  8. I feel for this to be implemented the following things need to also be addressed: 1. In malf, not sure about it being used to unlock powers, I feel we should allow borgs to use them since it is likle ypeople may try to meta out of touching the terms. 2. Should be in more private places IMO since public means that term will never be touched 3. First half was about locking AI down, 2nd half is them getting powers from it? Can you explain for my feeble mind?
  9. my last response so we dont get this off-topic. Captains>sec, even acting. So they can just order the arrest just like a HoS can. You can discuss this with me further in dms.
  10. Damnit I can't unsee it now Although the suit does look alright, can you show a picture of the outfit you plan to remove? @AmoryBlaine
  11. Following forms of oversight: 1. Many regulations specifically against them (and yes, other officers will arrest them over it) 2. Chain of Command 3. IRs 4. If above methods fail, a fax can be sent and a response can be sent to enforce something. Please avoid sticking to stereotypes when it comes to suggestions in the future.
  12. Yet the reason he said it was loyalist is because they tend to stick with it, I feel we need a better reason than "it would be funny" or "it will mix it up" to mess with loy or rev values for sec
  13. As a reminder, it is policy in these forums to read the thread before commenting. Security has more options in loadout, and hence more options for abuse. The reason we determined that security needed regulations beyond discretion was due to many cases of security wearing ridiculous outfits (which was outlined in this thread), which showed to staff that a policy was needed. If medical engaged in similar behaviors a similar policy would likely be enacted, but since this has not happened, no such policy has been made.
  14. PDA logs are private, and no one is permitted to monitor them without a warrant for a specific person, and only then they can only get the logs from said person. I feel that having a job with a decent portion on their job to be monitoring the pda logs makes the semi-secrecy of pdam nonexistent. (yes ais can sometimes see a message, but only fragments and entirely random).
  15. Just popping in to point out that paranoia is also a roundtype that has CCIA not respond to faxes and ebs (due to malf), so the addition of ling and traitor makes any centcom assistance impossible and could lead to a round where security is dead, command is dead, cargo and/or engineer has a autism fort, and antags have free reign.
  16. Yet being mute is a extreme disability that will literally prevent you from doing work, as being mute makes quick, concise communication and teamwork almost impossible, as people sometimes don't have the time to play charades to find out where a injured person is (as an example). This also can't be case by case as admins do not really have a effective enforcement tool for this short of "go cryo now"
  17. I saw the escape pod incident myself, and this is what I saw: What you had on your possession: tactical hud Ballistic Vest Insulated Gloves Toolbelt and most importantly, I remember you saying this, which set off alarms bells for me: ""Thank god they didn't take my submachine gun" Why would a cargo tech, before all this "hostility" took place, try to smuggle aboard a machine pistol? As a side note, I took a look at your records, and for ease I will summarize it since it seems to be a major talking point here Certified in Engineering, EVA, and any certifications needed for QM while in a prison Certified to act as a Security Officer by things that happened in rounds Overall I feel that having Character that is both a engineer, CT/QM, and security officer is too much for one character, especially a ex-convict where the records say should only have low-risk jobs. (yes I am aware it said "use your best judgement before using him as a security personnel", but the idea of a officer who can do engineering as well it too mcuh even on its face)
  18. Unsure what you mean, the QM is in the chain of command (as per directives) and his orders can be enforced by regs. He has the authority to order the cargo department employees.
  19. You don't need to know how to do the act to know when its being done wrong (I.e, HoS is trained to know what violates what.) There is nothing stopping you from recommending what to do for other departments, and in most cases they will comply with the request. Actually that is aiding and abetting, as it is official policy (under corporate regulations under prisoner rights) that criminals are to be treated post-haste, but should have a security escort with them or at the very least ensured that they are returned to the brig. (also above behavior in your example can also be dealt with oocly) Unable to do any of the above due to the following reasons 1. go againsts regulations 2. Violates ooc rules (unless proper escalation!) 3. can easilly be stopped with a command vote 4. Security can easily be enforced via ic and ooc rules Overall, stop with the negative stigma towards security players, its rather annoying seeing everyone see security as some powergaming salivating at the mouth to exercise their authority. Also, I feel you are overreacting, so far I have seem no such incident occurring the rounds I played after this policy was enacted, and no indication that it will happen down the line.
  20. I highly doubt even the most ruthless of corporations would give all their stations a RPG, and I feel that this would be worse as it would shut down any antag team given a well placed shot.
  21. I do not see a problem with this. Keep in mind that regs exist also to limit security authority, and situations where this is applicable can usually be dealt with via regs. Also this is a non-issue, as the same arguement can be said for any position, as they have similar restrictions (EXAMPLE: Bartender can only be ordered by HoP and/or Captain)
  22. Your welcome, it was made straight out of Upsilon In all seriousness, the drawbacks of cargo is fit for another thread (not to say they are not a issue, quite the contrary)
  23. Side note: please don't just blame arrow, as he said some staff talked about it and decided this was the way to go. Also keep in mind that above situations such as the paramedic being denied access to a department is extremely unlikely to happen, and if it does, the person(s) refusing to allow the person in could be charged with a crime (such as manslaughter if the person died as a result.)
