  1. This is neat. Just quite a few annoying questions: How will this impact, say, a bartender? Will making a frappe count as a cold drink even if you use hot coffee? What about coffee from the soda dispenser vs the coffee machine? Do the dispenser reagents have a cooled temperature in the case of soda and does it extend to the coffee (see previous question)? And what about the boozeomat? Does that dispense as cold?
  2. (I find it really funny her name is Sqrlesh and can't wait to hear people tease her by calling her Squish) This Skrell is only slightly older than the other Skrell app, you know! This one can be seen as "more successful" but both have to suffer the idea of parental disproval and I really want to know how that dynamic between them will pan out and how they will influence Skrell perception (let's call it Skrellception) aboard. Many characters have had some interaction with Vedai and Qblie Jeshja, and I can't wait to see how Squish is going to represent her species! Plus, Hocka's good people. I've only had real interaction with their Vex, and I definitely don't have complaints. +1
  3. That feeling of representing your species in a place where you're really excited to meet other species is great. She's relatively young. It'll be a great experience for her, and for the humans she meets! I've had the pleasure of hanging out with Thuy once or twice, too, and I think you can handle a Skrell quite well. +1
  4. As much as I enjoy eating the same soylent viridians each time, it'd be pretty cool if any random food could spawn in those 16 spaces! If that's too much, maybe just random non-deadly food.
  5. Not being able to marry Khajiit is racist. Honestly. Not a single one. Was my catgirl just supposed to settle for a dumb Nord?
  6. Such a unique take on pAIs. I really enjoyed this. (I'm also a sucker for whatever literary technique counts down things that happen and conclude the story with that i.e. "The worst things that can happen to a PocketBuddy"). Even though I've never had a PocketBuddy, you can really feel for it/all of them. This was splendid.
  7. It would make more sense for epi to temporarily negate the damage to remove unconsciousness. Or just remove unconsciousness. People use it to restart hearts, actually, so this wouldn't be far-fetched.
  8. I've read your app over twice now, once at night and once in the morning. I would read it again the afternoon, but that would have to wait until Friday, and we're on a countdown here, apparently. 1. There's currently little interest in playing Skrell. How do you plan to address that and gain interest? 2. Skrell lore is based on Nralakk system, mostly, with side-wikis having a paragraph or so of information about other places. Do you have plans to involve these other places so anyone but me might know they exist? 3. The Jargon Federation is very different from the Sol Alliance. How would you describe that juxtaposition and what it means for Skrell as opposed to Humans? 4. What sort of mechanical changes were you thinking of? What about cultural integration onto the station (e.g. foods, further fashion options, the already-lored augments)? 5. You mentioned your previous time on the staff. How will it be different this time?
  9. I assumed they would be dirtier and a tad more crunched and worn down than your average pair. They aren't exactly fresh. But, that's Moom's call.
  10. I'm glad you made the app Paul is always wearing these glasses. Most people wouldn't religiously wear an object they found in a hole, but Paul never got that memo. I support him not having to pick up his personal glasses from a table every shift +1
  11. Like I said in the discord, there are times when the external airlocks to the shuttle get super stuck. I don't know why, and if someone does, please feel free to chime in, but often the AI can just open them all up manually for us so we have time to get on the shuttle. I don't see why this has to be removed. AIs get control of everything on the station for a reason. In the event they get subverted to do something like this, consider it EOR or something if there isn't a solid reason (i.e. ERT Dude: "AI, stop the shuttle from taking off, there's like four zombie-infected guys aboard rn"). But I don't see why this mechanic has to be just completely removed, as it removes the good that comes of it, too.
  12. I've had the pleasure of meeting your character "officially" today. Your innocence makes you an easy-going person. I look forward to seeing you around some more!
  13. I crawled out of bed, struck with insomnia, and mind churning. So much of how I play is dictated by these random thoughts I have. We all perceive this world we play in differently. We all have beliefs ("headcanons" if you will) that aren't specifically written down anywhere but affect how we play as if they were. These could be bits of lore no one ever thought about, questions that remain unanswered through the void of time, how you view a character (yours or someone elses'), anything, really. Yes, I'm styling this as the confessions thread, but really I just want to hear your guys' SS13 shower thoughts. What are some of yours?
  14. This is a good thing to note. As of now, pretty much any shaft miner could be incredibly wealthy due to the ability to get credits and space lotto tickets (which have a higher return than the straight credits by A LOT, literally hundreds of percent return compared to the credit cashout for an equal amount of points invested). That's not how it should be. Make the income static, and remove the credit availability in the vendor.
  15. Reporting Personnel: Vedai’Kwia Xizal Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Shaft Miner Game ID: bWA-aO5S Personnel Involved: - Vedai’Kwia Xizal, Shaft Miner, Victim - Edward Sholl, Security Officer, Offender - Lynsey Feufer, Shaft Miner, Witness - Preston Prestoff, Quartermaster, Secondary Witness Time of Incident: ~16:30 Real time: 0100CST 29/9/2018 Location of Incident: Cargo Office Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty []Harassment [X]Assault [X]Misconduct []Other _____ Overview of the Incident: An incident between myself and an engineer took place in the cargo office. Security was called and, as the only active officer of the security team, Officer Edward Sholl responded. In order to understand the incident with this officer, it may be important to understand the incident with the engineer. The engineer had heard and understood my words in Nral’Malic. I took great offense to this; they were not words meant for his ears and he had invaded my private thoughts. He claims to have implanted himself with a translator. I needed to know if he were lying, so I brought him to the floor and emptied his pockets for any hidden mechanisms as such as I have found on his person before this date. There were none. And thus, he called security. I regret not knowing the name of this engineer. However, if I were to see him again, I could perhaps provide this information at a later time. With that established, I will now tell you that I explained this to the officer. He let the engineer go despite my protests, but informed me he was having a warrant drawn up for assault for me. I took offense to this. The engineer was physically unharmed. “Assault” implied harm to the injured party. The officer grew more irate as the conversation continued, eventually concluding “Assault and Battery are the same thing.” At this point, the witness [Feufer] seemed staggered (Translator note: This can also be read as “gobsmacked”) by this. In truth, the difference is not something I know, but the detail was important to [Feufer]. At this point, the officer was called away to deal with a more pressing situation. The warrant for myself had not yet been made-up, and it was clear we had annoyed the officer (he even stated as much). When the engineer from before came to cargo to tell the officer to hurry, the officer took out his pepperspray and sprayed me with it. What happened next, I do not know, as my eyes were burning out of their sockets as every mucous membrane on my face and in my lungs became rapidly inflamed. Later, [sholl] would taunt that it had caused no lasting damage to me, and thus, was not assault. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: None were present. The report was taken to Quartermaster Preston Prestoff. Actions taken: None could be, as no Heads were present and the officer was the only officer aboard. The other security was a forensic officer that wanted nothing to do with the incident. 16. You could tie it to some kind of boot-slot item, maybe. Rather like force gloves, it could be bought from the uplink or created in research.
  17. Same can be said for Tajarans. Also, Skrell with the lowest CHV. Hm. They should be equal to humans, no reason to put them lower that I can think of off the top of my head. As for the suggestion as a whole, I'm not sure. Like you said in the cons, it would depend on if it's something you can set or not. Not to mention, Doctors should not be vomiting at the sight of dead bodies or gore, but they wouldn't have high combat effectiveness. How would you address that?
  18. I like that. That sounds like a great idea.
  19. There was a rev round recently that used this idea. It started with Richter supposedly eating some interesting fungus in Mendell and suddenly *everyone was fighting for survival* with gas masks and "spores" everywhere. Made even better by the lack of an engine set up, survivors eventually found those that perished (seeing Preston in a voidsuit flat on his face on the asteroid telecomms is seared in my brain forever) and made their way to the shuttle. … That was commandeered by Faysal. But it didn't matter, because all of the ODIN and Tau Ceti were suffering the same fate. I'd like to see this happen again, perhaps even more in-depth. I've heard Alb's got some zomboon sprites for something like this.
  20. Honestly, I thought because the role would get even less use because of the all-access. Librarians don't do much, other than running dnd games, as I've been told. I thought librarians could join as visitors and do the exact same thing they already do. But I suppose, as someone that doesn't have a librarian character, I don't really understand. There's no reason to remove it, only that this cuts the job to basically nothing. If it's wanted, there's no reason it can't stay.

    Library Ideas

    1. Remove the Librarian job. I know, I know, that's a huge shocker for everyone, how will we ever recover. But seriously, it's because of point 2. 2. Make the library public-access We have visitor computers. That's nice! We can look up books! But we can't have them unless there's a librarian or a very kind and not-busy HoP on duty. Maybe we could just have it be like a book fair? You swipe your ID and for a few credits, it spits out the book you chose? Some of my characters are really interested in poetry, maybe they want to carry a poetry book. I know there are some people that may be interested in carting around some engineering textbooks from the database. We have a huge array of literature, and no one can ever access it. We should make it accessible!
  22. Make it into something controllable, at least. Not randomly bashing someone with it a billion times hoping for a good outcome. Didn't realize we were Sheogorath over here.
  23. BYOND Key: Conspiir Character name: Vedai’Kwia Xizal Item name: Stainless Steel Fork Why is your character carrying said item to work? He eats! That’s what he does! That’s ALL he does! You can’t stop him! Because expecting a chef to have a fork is too much to ask on this station for some reason, and he’s sick of it. ((Also he like never brings forks back and chefs hate that, but he has to be prepared to eat whenever the opportunity presents itself)) Item function(s): It’s a fork. It has all the code of a regular fork. Item description: A stainless steel fork. The word “Kwia” is engraved on the back of the handle. Item appearance: I aimed to make it a bit shinier than the normal sprite, which is made of steel. Stainless steel is more durable and gives off a lighter sheen. BRAINOS has helpfully supplied a much better looking and shinier fork that I'd like to use instead. I'll still keep the information here as reference, but this is the superior fork sprite. BRAINOS' fork: Old info: How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? Vedai currently carries a bootfork he makes each shift from the first load of metal he brings in. People know about this bootfork. It gets him weird looks and comments. Who carries a fork in their boot? Why, a Skrell that eats. He went out and bought this one with some extra cash from a lotto ticket used to pay a debt. Additional comments: The real question, is does this violate the “No Weapons” rule. I might stab someone for 0 damage. Or use it as a retractor when doing ghetto surgery. :bigthonk:
  24. The problem is I shouldn't have to break into the janitor closet as a chef to be able to serve customers. A restriction on junkfood, sure. But now there's a restriction on chef food because maybe my customers don't want to eat their steak and eggs with their hands. It may not be completely empty, but what is 1 fork and 1 glass going to do when a guy asks for 2 steaks and 2 beers for him and his friend? It's not like I can turn to the nonexistent bartender and ask for some glasses. Or ask the nonexistent janitor for a refill. If this is something I need to do my job, why is it locked behind RNG of whether or not I get to comfortably serve my customers that round? It's not like janitors have a chance to just not have space cleaner in their bottles or science has a chance to have less metal and glass in RnD.
  25. I didn't know about this. Extend it to this, too.
