They said "if it is difficult to pull off," as in- a risky endeavor that isn't guaranteed nor easy.

1. Donsun's childhood was filled mainly with pro-Izweski claims and ideals, completely absorbing the young one into the Hegemony's concerns and their unofficial state religion- with his family urging him to join the warrior priests, so he too could bless each warrior and man out fighting. (Of course, when he finally became a priest- times were different and the aspect of fishermen would call more to him) 2. As said in the previous response, Donsun very much supported the Hegemony's actions during the Contact War. As far as family goes, the Sinta lost his much-older brother; he grieved the kin lost, but praised the heroics showcased up until their demise. Donsun believes the Traditionalists that Izweski fought, deserved what happened to them and that the descendants are the ones that will be brought into the forgiving fold of Sk'akh. 3. Donsun came to the Aurora to both continue his typical missionary goals, and on a form of xeno-pilgrimage. Izweski has little control over Tau Ceti- Guwans run amok with normal, upstanding and honorable Sinta; it's a deplorable sight to any person of the Sk'akh faith. As they're deeper in humanspace, they can learn the spiritual knowledge aliens have come to and correct the redeemable Guwans while pushing further back to more heinous exiles from public view. hope this makes sense.

Disagree. Similar to what Carver said, Cult isn't really much about changing your body as it is about sacrificing your living being to corrupt things using the Veil. This also feels like a very cheap and cop-out way of doing endgame things.

I'd rather not see something so powerful be added to Traitor loadout- note how all forms of mindslaving are a lot harder to pull off than the malf hacks- either requiring you to lure someone, or being fairly simple to escape if not combo'd with anything. If you want to hack an IPC, you should have to do it the long and hard way of cracking them up and rp-hack them. Otherwise, we can all live with the agony of not having it.

BYOND Key: diggiez Character Names: Ka'Akaix'Wxkri C'thur, Ka'Akaix'Tunz K'lax, Za'Akaix'Akqrz C'thur, [about 8 drones here], Goddess Protects Everyone, Scoops, IU-24335 Merq Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Some form of Gray, yet to decide. Have you read our lore section's page on this species: Isn't this kind of required? Kind of redundant as a question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I'll be honest and say that I don't really like warrior/honor-based races- I find honor too restrictive/obvious and warriors too bland and annoying, but if there's anything in such systems I can stand without knowing why: it's the priests and religions. I adore the theological notions Unathi have, and they're just about the main reason I decided to go for this; nothing else was enough to take me in. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Sinta'Unathi are technologically more primitive than other species (namely skrell, humans, and vaurcae with an e to signify plurality because everyone seems to forget the plural is with an e) and have based their society mainly on some sense of honor and faith. Those that break faith, are sometimes seen without honor and those that break honor- are sometimes seen failing faith. The general feudalistic system Sinta follow on Moghes seems to be a mix of faith and honor itself- where priests are higher than simple laborers and courageous warriors while the Leading Noblemen stay on top. Much more recently, fallout from the Contact War scarred both the lands and minds of Moghes- leading to the creation and rise of the Si'akh and Aut'akh cults as well as the irradiated areas that lead to a new generation of mutated and generally-ill children; interspecies efforts have been had to fix the planet, but nothing will ever restore the planet to its old self- not in the short-term, at least. Character Name: Donsun Ezalrai Please provide a short backstory for this character (Approximately two paragraphs) Donsun walked the lands as a newer priest filled with stalwart hopes of becoming a missionary for the Sk'akh Church. The Sinta was naturally humble, talking mostly with his voice and body than with any items or armaments; he personally focused on aquaculture and general fishing- having the belief that fresh and untainted meats would sway the less-fortunate Wastelanders to the light of Sk'akh. He dressed a bit leisurely, to ease the feelings of both the strangers he would talk to and himself, so all talks would feel more natural. Donsun did every small thing they believed was needed for spreading Sk'akh, all in the name of the Great Spirit and to spread good words of the Hegemony to the tainted wastes. The Church saw the Sinta admirable in his efforts and potentially powerful in his practices, so they gave him a chance with a task suited for future missionaries: he was to travel by the mountains and move through the cities Bahard, Res'karum, and Mudki-- he was to talk down the collections of Si'akh growing there and bring them back to their senses. Clothed as barely a priest, he would enter these cells of Si'akh and show small acts of kindness apart of a longer plan to convert back the Si'akh. With each person Ezalrai believed they saved and brought back to the light of Sk'akh, he'd kindly ask them to head to the nearest Sk'akh church and tell the priests he sent them, and that the Church wished to know. By the end of Ezalrai's little journey, the Church told they had gotten over thirty or so individual Sinta that came and talked of him bringing them back to the light of Sk'akh, away from the reaches of the cult. It was now that the priest was a full missionary, moving through the harsh sands of the wastelands and the soft soil of Hegemony territory- doing the best he could to sway everyone in. Sometime by 2455, the priest spread his mission to the stars- leaving behind Moghes for the Hegemony-less prospects that lied beyond. What do you like about this character? Ezalrai is pretty leisurely in their priesthood- opting to seem more like the average Sinta to gain their trust and friendship. I like forcing two, almost juxtaposing forces and ideals that also compliment each other in different scenarios and aspects. As a general missionary, they want to spread the word of Sk'akh to as many as possible, so they kind of need to fit in- but they also need to retain the honor of a Priest, so they kind of mix it in different parts. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I think, from now on- I'm going to answer exactly this for this section, for any future apps because I can never answer this in anyway that isn't this. I don't like using numerical values because they always feel like a lie, and using words always feels too pat-on-the-back/exaggerated, so I'll just say what I know. I can get into the mindset of my characters fairly easily and always try to assume/think from their perspective and from how they'd feel; I use small bits of wikilore I remember reading that no one ever talks about, to get them to be known more and I try to never consider my characters from a human perspective. I see them entirely from how their race would see them and, therefore, how they would see themself. Notes: I expect at least five comments about me never playing and trying to app for a species. You have until this is accepted or denied, people. Also, I know the backstory probably rushes a bit FFW at the end,

Why not just use mechs for this? Let hydraulic clamps pick up vending machines and such; no need to be strangely anachronistic.

Implement Clear Code Delta guidelines for AI
GreenBoi replied to sonicgotnuked's topic in Rejected Policy
Bump because although code delta isn't common, it'd be good to have a secret set of procedures to do as synthetics. Perhaps have a notice talking about the Omega Protocol when delta is called, for stationbounds. -
Add bedsheets (so I can tuck in the SSD and Skrell). Could be colorable or normal white.

Disagree with this because it means every securitron now becomes an RC camdrone and because it'd defeat the weakness of patrols. You will no longer be hurt or have the chance of being in-danger, and because your patrol pattern is no longer predictable- antags can no longer know when to engage on someone in the halls and then move them out of it. This is also already possible through Integrated-Circuits, you can make a full RC beepsky that can be even more capable- but the glory of this is that they are not always made, which leads to them not being in demand.
-
To pile onto what King said by a bit, I will only support this if it's possible to write a language w/o being able to speak it or speak w/o being capable of writing. This isn't exactly a rare issue, and it's very common for those studying languages as they just might find one easier than the other (I've always found it easier to read than speak personally).

Code-wise, Offies are practically identical to humans besides the fact they need either an ESS, robolegs, or RMT to walk normally. I could propose lowering their limb-break threshold to 25 or 20 to symbolize they're more fragile, but that seems too low and would most likely have a lot of side-effects. People don't dislocate limbs that often, and for someone to purposefully dislocate your leg twice in a row just seems like blatant powergaming. If you have a dislocated leg, you're already capable of being quickly killed/executed anyways, it'd be very inefficient to try and go for a limb-break.
-
Yeah please. Just have them become alt-titles for eachother at this point. Don't care how implausible it could be, there's just no difference in gameplay right now. CSI is often picked because they're expected to do as much as a detective socially and even more mechanically. They'll most likely be doing the legwork while detectives only really have the ability of being annoying to people for the sake of 'investigation' and waving a gun like a maniac. You could very much leave the current mapped Investigation Wing how it is and just shift around some locker placements/contents.

Offworlders suffer from weaker bones and muscles as they're more acclimated to places with lesser-g's. It's to the point that walking in a 1g space is hard and slow (also most likely a bit painful as you have to exert extra force to do something basic and that's never something painless). I think Offworlders should have their limbs break once dislocated, but since that's probably pretty bogus to some and people would see that as too much of a crippling weakness.- an alternative could be that dislocating an offworlder's limb does 10-15 brute to them (15 would be optimal because it means two back-to-back dislocations to the same leg would break it).

Regarding the Departmental Security Test Merge
GreenBoi replied to Skull132's topic in General Announcements
I think I've changed my stance on this. Call me unsusceptible to change, but this doesn't feel like it holds up to its planned effect that well. Security's influence is only expanded with this and it takes less time for any department to be SWAT'd down or even just searched. Warrants are not as powerful- even for officers that do look to get them, because it's technically a depsec's "job" to report or take anything out-of-the-ordinary. You can expect breaking into any non-civ dept to be harder now given that if a depsec sees- they'll arrest you, or look for prints on whoever did it. Security isn't really decentralized, and they only have increased influence and access. It doesn't seem nor feel that useful, and also allows validhunting to be a lot easier to perform. -
This already exists in the form of Wizard's aptly-named Mark/Recall. Also, wizard spells aren't affected by bluespace inhibitors because they're magic instead of tech. This is just jaunt, except you aren't invincible.

Bumping this once more because I am passionate for this.

Regarding the Departmental Security Test Merge
GreenBoi replied to Skull132's topic in General Announcements
As I said before, turn the 'offices' into 3x3 utility rooms. They don't need to be comfy, just little desks for officers to watch and work. It does not need to be big and have enough room for an interview because security officers won't really be having meetings/interviews in their offices, or at all- most of the time. Quick Guide to the Image Pictured: -Yellow would be the location for a sec console -Red is a wall-mounted pepperspray refiller -Dark blue would be a locker- with handheld radios spawning inside them, if possible -The Grey table by the Yellow console would have a window tint button. The ones behind would have a recharger and a laptop- the laptop should have an RFID port so Warrant Assistant can properly be used 3x3 utility rooms prevent taking away an obnoxious amount of space, and also condense everything needed into something easily accessible while also not being great at fortifying a lone person. For my actual opinions, read this spoiler. -
I think 35-40 would be much better. 40(5) = 200, which is the HP a normal gestalt has. 25(5) is barely over 100, AND it's also harder to grow into your more durable form. 35-40HP is only about eight whacks from a crowbar, which is preferrable to 4-5 and keeps cheese-killing on the down-low while also keeping it easy for actual weapons (typical weapons do about 10-15 per hit which means only four hits). EDIT: RECENT ARGUMENTS HAVE BROUGHT ME TO BE FINE WITH 30-35

[Accepted] TealPinniped becomez a bug
GreenBoi replied to TealPinniped's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Decent app. The 'what makes this species different' section seems rushed, but the general contents of it and the other section lead me to believe you have read even with some off wording at the beginning and a perspective-shift in the backstory. Before I go onto the main questions, I wanna remind you that Vaurcae were on Sedantis for a majority of their lifespan. Hell, you can even play some old bugs that lived in the caverns of the moon and saw the surface as they entered the hiveship for the first time. The main ones affected are those that never saw the unsimulated- real landscapes of Sedantis and all it had to offer. Now, what I am most interested in.... Why would an Akaix be taught and sent to guide the bound working? This is probably very small, but the bound already have their objectives guided and set. Another small question (technically don't need to answer, but it'd be nice to know): what job would Sirii be played in? Also, for my main question...does Sirii see the C'thur that aided the Skrellian terrorist with the formation of an illegal AI in Federation space as defective mutants? -
A direct port probably wouldn't happen since our stamina is tied to different things here, but I think it'd be nice to have it as a toggle instead of hold-x. People often have macros bound to shift and such, so I hate having to do shift-WASD and accidentally triggering one and then being forced to move to the arrowkeys. The way I get around this rn is by making a .click macro bound to the run button (otherwise known as "mov_intent") so for me: hitting 0 runs ".click mov_intent" which lets me switch back and forth between running and walking without having to clunkily click it.

[Accepted]maniacalFowl makes a Vaurca App
GreenBoi replied to maniacalFowl's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Note: Za'Viax are exclusively 'warforms' and giant battlebugs that come as Bipeds and Hexapods; they can't really help with extracting stuff or...anything, but fighting. This isn't exactly right. Vaurcae can feel just as much as a normal human- just in their own, weird hive-helping way. They kind of orientate their feelings around their hive and use the 'will of the hive/queens' as stopping points for emotional instability. I like the idea of reclamation broods and enjoy seeing it done well, but I do have some questions: Given the recent avowal-callback by Jargon, how would Xetz see Skrell publically and privately (that is to say, what they let on and what they really think). Another question, does Xetz see the small group of C'thur who helped the Skrellian terrorist, Nliix, with the illegal AI Lyrii as malicious mutants who offer no benefits to the hive? -
We use a whitelist-system for all species- get an IPC whitelist and you have access to them and their subspecies. Also, there is a Questions section which this topic mayormaynot be moved to

It'd be neat to be able to slide your pAI into your suit. It wouldn't be overpowered because the cell would run out fairly fast, plus ESS hardsuits naturally lack much of anything. Saves time from asking a roboticist to print one each round too.

Grabs are fun, but I think these tweaks would probably be needed: *Only Redgrabs and pinning force you to drop items. (Pinning is bluegrab + disarm) *Better grabmods for different species *Certain grab-maneuvers take stamina. For the second part, unathi are actually the easiest species to grab and this was because of their horns- but since then, hair/horn-tugging has been added and it hurts unathi. Should not be so easy to grab em. For the third part, I feel it'd be a lot less spammy and more strategic for certain grab-maneuvers to be based on stamina. Suddenly- grab-based fist fights can let you gauge how much your opponent has left in them stamina-wise. If they throw you across the room and start running, you know they won't be able to do it again and that you'll be able to catch back up. Full melee could become less about doing flat damage or getting a stun and more about stamina-management and trying to force your opponent to wasting theirs. To go more in-depth, I believe throwing people should take about half your stamina. Headbutts could take 1/4 (it exerts a lot of energy to continually smash your face into someone else) and table or window-slamming should take 1/6 (same as a single disarm, because it's kind of like a stronger disarm- you could also do 1/5). IPCs, of course- would take different amounts due to them not naturally regenerating their charge. Let this lead to the rise of stamina-based melee combat.

Bump because I want to see skinnypeople as CE and Captain
