  1. BYOND Key: VTCobaltblood Staff BYOND Key: JMJ99 Reason for complaint: Unacceptably toxic behavior from a staff member, which is detrimental to overall health of the server. People with attitudes like these definitely should not be in staff positions, and I have a creeping suspicion that the only reason JMJ99 still hasn't resigned is because they want access to the staff chat. Last post on the forums from them related to an IR was two months ago as well, which I don't think is an adequate level of activity, whereas the latest IR they've actually processed was back in December. Evidence/logs/etc:
  2. 10/10 would walk completely unphased right by a miner in a merc suit and some obviously not miner dude in a hazard rig again
  3. What did you just say about me, you weak and unfortunate creature? I think you will benefit from knowing that I graduated top of my class in Gliutip’lyaz Warfare Studies, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Liidra, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in psionic warfare and I am the top infiltrator in the entire Jargon Federation armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another enemy of the state. I shall wipe you out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before in this galaxy, mark my warblings. You think you can get away with saying that to me over the relay? Reconsider it. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across known space, and you are being traced right now, so you better prepare for the storm. The storm that wipes out the little thing you call your life. You're dead, unfortunate creature. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just without deploying my RIG modules. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the Tup Commandos and I will use it to its full extent to wipe you off the face of the Orion Spur. If only you could have known what retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have refrained from speaking. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you are, unfortunately, paying the price. Prepare for death.

  4. I think that each faction (and even specific planets in Sol) should have their own local culture, but this is a very welcome step. Universal culture such as the Extranet exists as well, and I'm tired of having to headcanon it with others only for it to be lost in time while the lore team directs its attention to politics instead.
  5. Wayland has no security record? Really.
  6. Are you serious? I've had the most RP with a security officer I've had in a while. The security officer assigned to Science was basically anywhere but the office (in a good way), and it really did give the department a sense of a safe presence. We had tons of fantastic RP situations, and a traitor who was easily and quickly detained as soon as I've seen them in the department. I can't imagine a random patrolling officer gladly coming to hunt bears with me, care to protect me during the SM delam, respond to a reported trespassing in like 15 seconds or so, and resolve a hostage situation in my department as quickly, quietly and painlessly as it went in this round. I don't know, maybe I'm the only person who doesn't care about the balance in this game, but RP-wise, it has been absolutely fantastic so far. Elated about this change, can't wait for more test rounds.
  7. That's not the issue Ornias was having. Ornias's issue is that research can't be "done" - research levels only exist mechanically, not ICly. Saying that it's "done" or calling them by "levels" breaks immersion. Uhh, no, sorry, that definitely wouldn't fly. While I worked with him in Research, Mayfly: Broke into two secure areas without giving it much thought; Focused entirely on guns and grenades, throwing one of them, knowing full well that it will render misc research entirely unusable, into the small borosillicate... thing instead of a safer place; Got drunk with a co-worker at work; Constantly neglected speaking TCB over the radio; Basically earned the ire of an AI; Constructed things like telecomms with little purpose or reason; Broke into the RD's office just to get the code to spy on the AI's PDA messages; Hacked an APC and an intercom; Helped crack a crate that his co-worker definitely shouldn't have access to; etc. etc. That doesn't sound like someone whom NT would promote to Director, does it? I had fun with him, but he definitely wouldn't become a director at this rate. Make a different character for it.
  8. I don't doubt that you're a capable roleplayer, but working with you in Research and generally observing rounds you participated in brought up some questions. You seem to be power/metagaming and disregarding the rules from time to time (such as suggesting to rob an SSD character, or preparing offworlder meds on their introduction event BEFORE they boarded the station), although you easily and without conflict change your approach if poked about it in LOOC. I'm slightly concerned that this tendency might creep over into your command play. Do you think you can be trusted to correct this issue?
  9. In this particular case, why? Why not reduce the amount of jobs by merging them? We've seen this successfully done with Virologist who was, just like IAA, played by absolutely nobody. In fact, removing the job slot does not remove any mechanics from the game whatsoever. IAA is completely redundant, and absolutely everything they can do can be done by other command jobs. The only thing maybe worth preserving is the notes to CCIA, which I guess can be placed by HoPs and Captains? I completely support the suggestion. I haven't seen IAAs be anything but paperwork lunatics who really hurt the round more than progressing it. And why would you trust an IAA to resolve your problems if you know fully well that they'll judge in the company's favor rather than yours due to their loyalty implant? Not a lot of people like doing paperwork in-game, and for many, a special job forcing them to do is a direct detriment from fun. So why keep it? There's little ways to rework it to do something fun that's not already covered by other command jobs.
  10. yeah it'd make them recolorable too because nobody bothered to fix earwear colors bug
  11. It's circuitry, so not a lot of people know how to make these, and even less know that RnD can make these.
  12. Science can produce identical lights, but white/whatever other color. So, not much would be lost even if the lanterns just got flatout brightened down without the glowstick buff. Is this really a balance issue, though?
  13. Dutch's RP has been pretty iffy for as far as I've interacted with him, but I guess the item is alright, even if a bit banal.
  14. My name is not important. What is important is what I'm going to do. I just fuckin' hate this world. And the human worms feasting on its carcass. My whole life is just cold, bitter hatred. And I always wanted to die violently. This is the time of vengeance and no life is worth saving. And I will put in the grave as many as I can. It's time for me to kill. And it's time for me to die. My genocide crusade begins here.

  15. I might take a vacation for a couple of weeks closer to June due to finals, but other than that, I should be good. The thing which was the cause for my retirement ended for me sooner than I expected, so I reapply pretty quick.
  16. Telecomms has absurd amounts of glass, steel and plasteel. Research can also set up their own drills to get some of the materials.
  17. Gideon and AIMMO keep nagging him (and Research in general) for KAs as if it's Research's duty, and are generally rude over the radio. He returns the hostilities. By asking for KAs, you're asking for a favor - which he is in full rights to not provide. You would be surprised, but Bretscher does indeed make KAs for mining, and even has some lukewarm relationships with specific people in that depatment - when he is approached with sufficient materials and without making a fuss about it. Now, please don't consider this an attack on your character. I enjoy interacting with Gideon, and listening to him over the radio, a whole bunch, and I'm genuinely looking forward to something happening to progress/change the relationship (albeit it is a passive one) between them. A chance for them to interact more, even if the interaction is of conflict. It's much more interesting than dropping mats and getting a KA, no? I agree completely. I think I can even say that I don't care about realism in this game's gameplay whatsoever. None of my posts mentioned realism however, so I'm not sure what you're getting at here. Being buddy-buddy with everyone is boring, plain and simple - realism is not involved. And if "if you're rude, people will be rude in return" is somehow too "realistic" for you and thus ruins your fun, I honestly don't know what to say. And believe me, Science can have fun and function without Mining's materials. So it's not like you're particularly vital to the order of operations here, at least for how I play it. Circuits don't need mats, guns can be made with phoron from telecomms, etc.
  18. I'm a vast vast vast minority here, but I feel that antagonists detract from roleplay rather than enhance it more often than not for me. So, not in support of this. This would make extended very rare, just like mixed gamemodes that are not in secret, considering that secret is nearly always voted in.
  19. I'd rather not argue the meaning of words written by others.
  20. It does, don't worry. I politely disagree with it, but don't want to write up a response right now.
  21. You are. This is a phoron research station - your job is to provide phoron to research. Hello. I don't find this hostility an issue. Conflict is roleplay. Find a way to go around it. Be polite when asking for something. It's an IC problem, yes - science is screwing you over. If you don't like that course of things, you can order pretty decent KAs from cargo. Managing to work together should be an effort, not something mandatory. I'm disliking the fact that R&D is being treated like a factory of things. Some individuals in particular even set us ETAs (!!!!!!) on when we MUST provide KAs to Mining, and then act all surprised and offended when Research says no. We're researchers. This is a research station. You have your own KAs. The fact that scientists who are supposed to research and find new things are forced to do the same things over and over every round is actually somewhat sadly ironic. This honestly makes the role kind of draining and dull. Though I guess I'm going off on a tangent here. Don't be dicks, people. And then you'll get what you want. Is it that difficult? P.S. The feud between Vedai and Bretscher, a miner and a scientist, is what initially made me interested to stay on the server. It was some fantastic RP. You're the best, @Conspiir
  22. Do you have any arguments for this notion?
  23. You seem to be mixing up cyborgs and IPCs. Cyborgs are the drone-like dudes that run on human brains, which are an old technology and were indeed involved in the colonization of Mars. Positronic brains (which are IPC processors) are relatively recent, and there's no way they could be constructed more than 200 years ago. You also seem to use the term interchangeably in the whitelist application in general.
