  1. I don't see how this being a consistent gamemode would produce any substantial and fresh RP from any crew but command. Speaking for myself, I'd rather choke than have to RP military shit so often, especially with no real build-up or closure. I don't care about the gameplay aspects of it - first and foremost, this is a RP server. Well, at least for me. When designing gamemodes for this server, you probably should think about RP first and gameplay second, and with how this is written, it's painfully obvious that RP was something hastily added at the end. I also don't see how this would change regulations and lore. And AU lore for other gamemodes is indeed not something that I think will happen. -1
  2. Again, I'm not opposed to the idea of actors, but the wording of why this needs to be done just gets worse and worse every second. Although the addition of actors would be fun for sure, current rounds are also fun and capable of making conflict and stories to tell, including Extended. I don't feel that Extended is at all stale or boring, and in fact almost always prefer it over any other gamemodes. That's all.

  4. I definitely don't think it's a "hole". There are still many, infinite, in fact, situations that I can roleplay without external factors coming into play. I'm not opposed to the idea, mind, the wording just struck me as weirdly horrible.

  8. This happens painstakingly rarely (read, never) compared to people wanting to end lowpop extended (which tends to consist almost solely of RP) because they don't feel like latejoining. I would be okay with this only if people not in the round or dead (not observing) couldn't vote.
  9. The bioshell thing is very cool in my opinion, even though I had some minor nitpicks. The hardware/software thing is an another idea that I support strongly. VUX is also a great roleplayer, particularly as a synth, and is good at remaining civil at nearly all times. Also, I want to boop them on the nose. Even if they don't get the position of loredev, I really want to see them as a synth deputy. +1
  10. Kyres is very active on the team, an absolute pleasure to work with, plays extremely often, and is already essentially doing the work of a maintainer anyway. Also, I love him. Big, fat +1.
  11. You should definitely ask for these. Science doesn't usually remember that medical exists or needs anything, and from an IC standpoint, they're also not obligated to remember.

  13. I disagree. I've never felt isolated in my department, and I feel its current size is ideal and optimal. "Little negative space" will just lead to cramped, horrible areas like old R&D.

  16. For points 3 and 4, I'd like to remind you that cargo exists. Otherwise, mirroring other points in the thread. Use a proper intern role or ask the HoP for help if you want to do something, assistant is a placeholder role, assistants have no reason to access maintenance while higher-ranking roles don't. I'd very much support simply removing the job entirely and just replacing it with Visitor, but that's for another suggestion.

It appears that I am knowledgeable on wiki technicalities more than Chada1 currently is, and I think the wiki could use my help in that regard. I also want to continue improving woefully outdated job pages.

One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I have a bit of experience playing synthetics outside SS13, and I can't say I don't enjoy it. I wish to play them more on this platform, but stationbounds do not appeal to me - cyborgs require way too much versatility, and AIs need crazy multitasking. Thus, I hope to play a synthetic as a more narrow, specialized character than the stationbound options. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Synthetics are, obviously, robotic. They are manufactured units, designed to fulfill a singular purpose. They may or may not adapt to new circumstances, but they would always adhere to pre-determined algorithms. Their view on situations is algorithmic as well - their actions are logical and predictable, operating by cause and effect. They are able to mimic emotions, but, again, these are highly predictable - a synthetic, for example, would be simply hard-coded to react to death by simulating sadness and engaging self-preservation protocols, as opposed to a human being able to react to it with a myriad of impulses depending on thousands of possible circumstances. Character Name: T-453 Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs. T-453 was assembled on TCS Pragma, one of the Techno-Conglomerate vessels dedicated to research and education in the field of robotics. TCS Pragma is quite a small ship, and is mostly dedicated to teaching rather than practical research. Nonetheless, study on specimens is often conducted: T-453 has been used to demonstrate and test the basics of robotic repair, including posibrain operations. It had an extremely simplistic, but friendly personality - essentially, all it was able to do is correctly analyze its condition, and tell it to the students in a friendly manner. The chassis was also of a baseline, as-standard-as-possible variety. Many students were attached to the friendly unit and its mannerisms, and it was an unofficial mascot of TCS Pragma's robotics faculty, called T Minus for short. However, being only a small ship, TCS Pragma's supplies eventually started to dwindle, and it had to sell some of its equipment in order to stay afloat. Much to students' dismay, one of these pieces of equipment had to be T-453, as it had a fully working posibrain, and thus, was fairly valuable. Considering its primitive programming, it was purchased by NanoTrasen for a relatively cheap price of eight thousand credits. Seeing how it was already quite well-versed in its own inner workings, it was retrofitted for mechatronic repair and construction. As of today, it is in service as a Roboticist on board of NSS Aurora. What do you like about this character? T-453 is unexperienced, but extremely friendly, as opposed to my other characters. While its programming is fairly primitive, it will, in time, expand its available data and become more competent in what it is doing. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 7/10 I consider myself fairly experienced both in SS13 and elsewhere. Although it is my first time playing a synthetic in this game, I believe my previous experience will translate well. Notes:
  24. Yeah. So the outside (facing the hallway) maint doors are access restricted. But inside the maintenance shafts, there are no access-restricted doors, allowing, for example, easier access to maint evacuation ladders - as long as you've broken/hacked/otherwise opened a door into maintenance.
