This has actually come up many times in the past as in issue that's been ahelped and handled situationally in the past, ever since it first became something you could actually do mechanically. The mechanics for this being something a player could do manually didn't exist until the first baymerge several months ago - Before that, it only happened automatically during malf rounds. I presume it never came to the forums because most people seem to only want to bring it up in ahelps, deadsay, and OOC - I made this thread because it was being dragged out with no progress and no input from admins in OOC. My main intent here is to just get a final ruling from admins on whether or not this is allowed, when it's allowed, etc, so that the community has a basis/precedence to go off outside of 'Well admin A said its fine a week ago, but admin B said it's bad two weeks ago'.

I've played rampant AI several times where I cancelled both shuttle types without requiring permission from an administrator or moderator, or even having to be spoken to about it. If this is recent policy because people whined enough and can't get over the differing game mechanics each antagonist type has, in combination with the fact that it makes more sense for a malf AI to interrupt crew transfer procedures than it does for anyone else... then it's pretty dumb in my opinion. There is no need for staff to be shoehorned into the role of babysitting the round any more than it already does. Longer rounds are a good thing, it permits people who are still invested to continue the round to keep playing. If nobody else likes it they can cryo and observe instead of being a poor sport and wanting to transfer at the 2hr mark because they didn't get a chance to be an antagonist or they don't want to keep playing and must absolutely restart the round. These kinds of attitudes suck the fun out of SS13. To my understanding, though, this is going to be fixed code-wise rather than ratified as a singular arbitrary guideline. On a counter point. Between 2 and 3 hours, in order for a CT vote to pass, you need a 2/3 majority voting to end the round. That would mean that, if a CT passes, only a 1/3 minority actually wants to continue with that round and the remaining players want it to end for whatever reason. A minority (Or in this case, a single person who has the power to hit that button) extending a round that a majority voted to end simply because they're having fun, without considering if everyone else is enjoying the round can also be considered being a poor sport.

After we had a round where mercs cancelled a CT vote and the mods determined it valid because mechanics allow it, and considering previous rounds where malf AIs have gotten in trouble for cancelling a CT vote, I think there needs to be something actually set in stone regarding cancelling a voted crew transfer and when or if it's acceptable.

As it stands, Zhan-Hazaan tajara only get one 'custom' language - I put 'custom' in quotations because it basically has] to be Siik'maas or the lore masters are going to be coming down on you for playing a taj that can't speak the common tajaran language. Prior to the baymerge that made Zhan a separate subspecies that only get the one language, one of my zhan used to know gutter. There's another character that's half zhan, half m'sai whom I want to have more Zhan dominant traits but with the way I've built that character and played her in the past (It's Zakiya) she basically has to know Tradeband or I have to do a /lot/ of retconning and change how fluent she is in basic. Plz give 2 languages back.

Just for the record, as I did mention I had a character with higher level skills, mine isn't at 'Genius' level. Here's the skillset for her (It's Miraj Zi'Ad if you're curious - Formerly a xenobiologist, now a chemist with a PhD and EMT experience, 37 years old)

These numbers aren't just from the past week, but the entire antag contest that's been going on for months, I believe.

I feel like there has to be more to this than what's actually posted here. I have medical characters that are quite smart with PhDs and such, one of which is formerly a xenobiologist and still qualified to be one while having transferred over to medical chemistry instead in recent years, and not once have I been bwoinked over it.

If you're referring to the supermatter being detonated at round end, that was my doing, after 2 hours of ECOM building up with various forms of 'malfunctioning'. I'd also gotten permission via ahelp before I made the SM explode. As a side note, the fact it somehow ended up in Atmos is still something myself and nobody else is able to explain. That was weird.

I see this alot actually from Hammerstein. The durand usually comes out, breaking directive 4 when antags show up.

Time to revive this?

One of the main problems with checking records every round is having to actually /sift through/ every single player's records during the round. Nobody follows a consistant format and it's not always easy or obvious to see who has a prescription or what that prescription is.

I didn't even know engineering borgs got that. I was honestly more thinking of custodial borgs and maintenance drones.

What it says on the tin. Refilling borg light replacers takes at least twice as long as it takes to fully recharge an upgraded cell in my experience.

I do this myself. I call votes the moment they can be called. I've even been known to call a vote the moment I connect to the server without if it's available to do so. There's many people on the server who do this. Why have I not seen anyone complaining about me or anyone else doing this?

Here's a little secret. If you pulse wires with a multitool, it will not trigger the alarm. It will however make a 'beep' emote on your screen when you pulse the alarm wire. Use that to find the alarm wire, then use wirecutters to cut every wire except the alarm wire. Nope. Every camera has a randomized wiring list so you have to go through that process for every camera. I learned that one the hard way.

I have to disagree with adding this, from a game balance perspective. Adding cameras will likely make most HoS or captain players require them, and these will easily shut down any antags in the security department as they'll basically be constantly monitored and questioned if the camera turns off, and shut down any attempted antag actions against an officer for the same reason.

Right, as the AI, I'm going to say a few things here regarding the round. The only doors I bolted were my AI core, because I was ordered to by command staff. I specifically told security I would not bother making any attempts to hinder movements by bolting doors because you could teleport, so I wouldn't have bolted anything on you anyway. Yes, I did open doors to let security in to you /while you were in the captain's office and teleporter/ because you were in a high security area, stealing things, you had the captain's sidearm and spare ID. Because I late joined, I didn't know security had you at shoot with lethals on sight, and I had even specifically told them several times you appeared non hostile as I observed you running past crew without any incident many times. ' I uploaded laws to ensure she did nothing except what I explicitly told her to do, thus rendering her completely useless to everyone.' <-- This is a lie. Your original law, that lasted for nearly 45 minutes, stated this: 'Under no circumstances are you to speak, act, order, or modify anything. You are to remain completely silent and observe only. No radio, no communication attempts in any form.'. Even if you gave me an order with that law, I wouldn't be able to do anything. You /finally/ added another law saying I can communicate with you via PDA and to obey you after being spoken to by modmins. Crew transfer got called, and you immediately ordered me to make the engine explode. I OOCly told you to get an admins permission or I couldn't do it, you ignored that and /continued/ to demand I sabotage the engine. That's the point where I just wipe-core'd because the round was ending anyway. Whether you murdered me or not is relevant. You forcibly removed me from the round with that law. I technically shouldn't have even communicated with NT-A over binary with that law because of how it's worded, but fuck if I'm going to be 100% uselessly silent while I wait for the law issue to get sorted by you and the mods. I honestly would have just wipe-core'd then and there if not for NT-A. Also what makes you think I have a personal friendship with house_of_synth? I know him about as well as I know you, aside from the fact we're both staff in different areas.

Something to note as well, as it's a concern I brought up in discord when Lohikar asked staff about the lighting system. From his testing, the new system is apparently reducing lag related to performance instead of increasing it like I'd have thought it would. (Unconfirmed by my end, but I'll take his word for it).

Regarding Sanu'dra, something I've noticed in rounds is a disregard of self-preservation, and statements by him in person or over radio about how he'll just be cloned if he dies.

So I'm noticing a new pattern and I have to ask. When did we go from 'Dealing with the troublemakers' to 'Just removing the entire thing because of a couple troublemakers'?

One has to ask why this thread hasn't been relocated, since this has been done

... Has anybody considered possibly filing an incident report about some of this?
