  2. Apologies for letting this sit as long as it did. I took a look at both of your testimonies, and reviewed the logs. Unfortunately, logs do not show everything, but I feel I understand enough of what was going on during the round to deliver a verdict. That said, after review, I feel the character Summer Snow did not act in a way that furthered the roleplay in the round. The reasoning that led me to this decision is as follows: Summer Snow decided to disarm Icepaw, who had a grenade in a crowded elevator, under the belief that they (Icepaw) were distracted, and at a disadvantage due to Summer Snow's force gloves. While neutralizing a hostage taker during a hostage situation is sometimes acceptable, in this specific instance, it was done by a single individual acting on their own in order to put an end to the threat. At the time this happened, there were still options that could have furthered roleplay, either for the hostages, hostage-taker, and security through negotiation, or from security stalling as they formulated a plan to better raise the odds of survival for the hostages as they attempted to subdue the hostage-taker. As a result of this complaint, I will be applying a standard warning to the ckey of @Snoopy11 detailing this incident and the results. If there are no further concerns on the matter, I will mark this complaint as resolved and archive the thread in 24 hours. Thank you.
  3. This looks good to me. It allows the AI to bolt and unbolt doors again while largely avoiding the problems we had previously with the AI locking people in rooms at the first sight of trouble. Open to seeing where this leads.
  4. Anyone who knows me can attest to the fact that I despise wizard as a gamemode. It doesn't even have anything to do with the mechanics of them. I simply hate them thematically in a science fiction roleplay setting. It shatters my immersion and I generally end up ghosting and observing if they are overly ridiculous. That doesn't mean that every single wizard sucks and can't have a fun gimmick or engaging roleplay experience, but the majority I've played with were not that. That said, I don't support their removal from the secret rotation, or as a gamemode. As Alberyk and Garnascus have mentioned earlier in this thread, removing things continuously will simply distill our roleplay into fewer and fewer modes that people will grow sick of. I support the rebranding of the wizard to a more period appropriate flavor, such as Technomancer or some other "futuristic magic man" equivalent. Many of the spells that the wizard possesses now would work just fine in a rebranded wizard, and could mechanically be the same with only minor alterations to their names or casting styles. I am not sure how a rebranded wizard would look exactly, but I am confident that the community can crowd-source a sufficient naming scheme and flavor for them to be better than the current iteration. As a side note, I'd 100% support the porting of Technomancer in order to replace the wizard, but I do not have the technical skills and knowledge to do it myself, and I can't justifiably put all of that work on some poor developer to do at the whim of the community. Our best bet is to pay geeves hope that one of them feels strongly enough about it to take it upon themselves.
  5. Agree with Abo. The medical role changes (and the chemical name changes) were specifically made to distance us from real-life parallels with medicine, and allow us to do something without long arguments about realism versus gameplay. I think that simply renaming the Medical Resident to Medical Intern is fine, along with a lowering in the age requirement. Players of the Medical Intern can flavor their internship however they want.
  6. I'd be interested in seeing how this form of ERT plays out, but I am wary due to the issues Sue pointed out. Some of my least favorite rounds revolve around being ordered around, powerless to do anything or affect the roleplay in any meaningful way beyond "oh no im scared", "please don't kill me", and mechanical gameplay. I think that if the restrictions around the crew being able to fend off attacks on their own were loosened slightly, it may have a better chance of succeeding. That said, simply not having the practically guaranteed ERT safety net would give many characters the justification they need to fight for their survival, rather than "waiting it out" until help arrives. Would this be "healthier" for roleplay? I honestly cannot say, but I am curious to see how it goes.
  7. Hello, I will be handling this complaint. Please give me some time to go over the logs and such. Thanks.
  8. Locking and Archiving.
  9. Alright I apologize for the long delay. There was a lot to process here and frankly, huge walls of text make it more difficult to distill things down to just the relevant bits. Regardless, @MattAtlas and I have returned with a verdict. I will keep things concise and simply say that after reviewing all of the testimonies and confirming with the logs, we've determined the killings of Dalask Cladius (Head of Personnel) and Kazika Leazi (person by the armory) to be gank. While @Lordnesh you do not have a lot of notes, you do have some somewhat recent ones that were for similar reasons. As a result, we feel that a 3-day antagonist ban will be sufficient here. We recommend you be more careful about jumping the gun and killing people quickly because you assume they are validhunting. If there are no further questions, we will lock and archive this thread in 24 hours.
  10. Applicant has successfully completed their trial period. Welcome back to the team. Locking and Archiving.

  13. Trial began as of 30th of August, 2020. It will conclude in one month, on 30th of September, 2020.
  14. Excellent. I will go ahead and accept this appeal and lift your ban. Locking and Archiving.
  15. Before I lift this ban I just want to confirm you understand that if you need to leave a round early (or afk for more than like 10-15 minutes) you should go to cryogenics, or at the very least ahelp if it’s an emergency.
  16. After speaking to the applicant, I will be denying this application. Feel free to contact me directly on discord at Flamingo#5454 if you have further comments, questions, or concerns about this decision. Locking and Archiving.
  17. Application accepted following a successful trial. Welcome (back) to the team. Locking and Archiving.
  18. I will keep my response brief in the interest of not dragging things out as much as possible. Matt and I discussed the scenario and are in agreement here. While I can definitely understand the logical thought process behind it, the fact of the matter is that the directive DOES in fact address a very real gameplay problem, which was why it was created in the first place. That problem being security visitors specifically, being deputized during rounds in order to combat antags, thus bolstering the station forces. If you disagree with the policy in place, I encourage you to head over to the policy suggestion subforum and create a thread where it can be discussed. Otherwise, I will be locking and archiving this thread, as it is resolved.
  19. Alright, Matt and I have had some time to go over things and have come to a decision. After reviewing the logs and provided testimony, we've ruled this complaint to be invalid. Our reasoning hinges on the fact that, as Read ruled during the round, the situation was not dire enough for the promotions. The security team was indeed injured, but the Head of Security could still effectively deal with the situation. Spiders, while posing a threat, can be largely ignored for a few minutes. The prisoner from our understanding was HuT and can easily be stuffed in a cell for a few minutes while the HoS deals with things. Finally, the Head of Security is adequately equipped to deal with a single cargo tech with some rifles. From a logical standpoint, we understand your thought process behind promoting visitors to bolster the Head of Security's effective reach, but the directive cited by Read in the original ahelp was enacted due to gameplay reasons, not in-character logical ones. Visitors are generally only to be promoted if a situation has already reached the point where ERT is going to be called regardless. This is of a similar caliber as handing out weapons to the crew at large, as that is effectively what a visitor is, regardless of training. Acceptable under the right circumstances, but not when there's some minor issues. If there are no further concerns, we will be locking and archiving this thread in 24 hours.
