Alice Farasci Also, it turns out I made a sketch of a character of mine, Liam Bennett, about a year apart. Figured I'd share it here to show my progress as an artist. After all, I have this community largely to thank. With each new commission, I get better and the roleplay itself gives me the drive to draw.

Thank you for the clarification and expansion. I chatted more with the team and the only thing we're curious on is what you mean by this. Since, given the legal fragility of an IPC and the substantially less credits they earn, one could argue being fired could be a terrifying thought to a free IPC.

I'm available! I have a few drawings currently but my slots are still open. Feel free to reach out on discord at Lauren#3847.

Hello, thank you for applying! Although IPCs have a degree of freedom and variety to their naming schemes, things like meme names aren't tolerated. Will this be an issue? What was CICI's role or duties once taken by the pirates? How were the pirates killed or captured in New Gibson? What transpired? If made a Miner, how would that deter CICI from working towards his freedom? Also, what is CICI's perspective or reflection in a lot of these events? How has their story shaped them or their outlook?

I am unable to get behind these changes and I feel it is largely counter intuitive to the HRP environment that we strife to be. Not every situation is going to warrant a blanket response and as such, I am afraid these changes railroad station bound players into thinking that they need to play a dim witted or simple minded robot. Or, that the player is ultimately railroaded into a singular identity or path. As though they were akin to a maintenance drone but with a larger, yet still subsequently ignored, presence.

Myphicbowser's IPC Application
niennab replied to Myphicbowser's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Thank you for clarifying. So long as the combat database stuff isn't used as an excuse to chase after antags or placing yourself in unwarranted danger while in cargo, then I have no issue with it. Not to imply that you would, of course. For the freedom portion, I don't blame you. The wiki could use a degree of clarification or expansion. Largely I run with the idea that an owned IPC doesn't necessarily acquire set wages but the income they would be getting goes into the 'pay for freedom number', minus any maintenance costs. However, at the same time someone could reason an IPC getting wages but being able to decide how much they want to pay back to the company in order to acquire their freedom. After thinking more on your original proposal, it's honestly fine. One could reason that, possibly with assistance, an IPC could set up a bank account that they secretly dump funds into while being owned. If you wanted to run with that idea, you're more than welcome to. Or, if you want to run with your original idea or a mix of both you're more than welcome to. Nonetheless, your application demonstrates an understanding of IPCs. Accepted! -
Myphicbowser's IPC Application
niennab replied to Myphicbowser's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hello! Thank you for apply. I have a few questions. I am curious what you mean by this. Does Rasputin possess combat databases? If he does, why were they never utilized? Since Rasputin was an owned synthetic at the time, how did he collect and keep in possession these credits without them being claimed by their owner? It may be more realistic if his ventures and possible shady dealings amassed the company more profits along with a stash he had amassed, meaning that there came a sooner point in time when he had paid his cost ten times over or had close to it and a sizable amount of his own (something more reasonably hidden). -
Thank you for answering our questions. I want to say the current state of the application is a lot better and the synth team feels you're on the right track. There are however a few questions and concerns that come to mind with the application. Is Barnabey currently owned by Idris, or Nanotrasen? What will be their job on station? A Bartender? IRUs (which are shell frames only) are made for debt reclaiming and are loaned out as security on station. ISUs (which can be any other frame except shells) are made for either high risk debtors or are loaned out as security on station. If Barnabey is an IRU, they wouldn't be working in the bar or a baseline. If you want to make them a service unit for Idris, I recommend dropping the IRU prefix. You could potentially have it that Barnabey was an IRU or an ISU in the past and possesses the memories of that time. However if you do, I think it's important that you try to embrace the seedy corporate dealings that make up the IRU aesthetic. Barnabey would have had to use varying levels of force on people to reclaim debts and that may have shaped their outlook. If you use this character backstory, you should consider why they were forced to change jobs as well. All of the IRU/ISU lore can be read here: https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Idris_Incorporated Due to the issues present, we've decided to deny you for now however we strongly encourage you to reapply. If you need any help, myself, @The Strykerand @Tailson are available. I believe your current character can be reworked but there are enough issues that we believe addressing the above issues and reapplying is the best course of action. You're welcome to reapply in 3 days at the minimum.

If we had two separate eyes on the code side, I'd also love to see the ability to have one mechanical eye as well!

Rusted Cogs, a Trinary Perfection Sect.
niennab replied to Soultheif96's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
I want to start by saying this is a neat concept and I like the aesthetic behind it. However. given the nature of SS13 and that we ultimately lack player agency or the ability to truly control the narrative round to round, I believe this to be fairly problematic in how it could be misused. My larger fears pertain to what it would mean round to round for those who are a part of the sect and how it ultimately gives a free pass to valid hunters. I do not believe barring the sect from certain roles will solve the issue either. Additionally, one could also argue that an IPC would never willingly have it's self preservation protocols removed. In that, if an IPC were to acknowledge that without self preservation it would lead a shorter life, the synthetic would then choose not to remove it's self preservation. I will deny this application for now however, Stryker has an interest in possibly readdressing this in the future. Some thoughts I have off the top of my head are if instead: The group was led and operated primarily by organics, there's nothing about the removal or tweaking of self preservation but rather there's an effort to make synthetic life and death more comfortable, etc etc. These do not need to be the changes but rather just my own brainstorming. -
In an effort to clean up the lore canonization section I'll deny this one due to it's inactivity but there's the possibility we might take portions from this in developing a new SIM. If you'd like to pick it back up, I recommend trying to either expand on it, or append it to an existing piece of lore. Some thoughts I'd have is how the group operates beyond research. Do portions of the group travel across known space? The Frontier? If so, for what purpose? Do they lobby governments? How are their ideals different from the Trinary Perfection? Or, how are they similar? How do the member's developments interact with the mega-corporations? Are the mega corporations constantly vying for their stuff? Are they forced to sell their ideas so the researchers can continue their work unabraded? etc etc.

Hello, thank you for applying! Are you able to expand on this portion here?: Additionally, what do you mean by this?: Lastly are you able to expand on the backstory? And what is the information that belongs to Nanotrasen?
-
Hello, thank you for applying. The application process calls for a minimum 1 paragraph answer on a lot of the portions as well as a 2 paragraph minimum on the backstory. As a result I will deny your application for now however you're welcome to reapply in 3 days at the minimum. I recommend checking out previous applications to get a feel for what is necessary. Consider using the application format to tell a story, offer an understanding of the lore as well as the ability to apply it to character creation. Here are a few of my favorite applications.

If heat damage is going to be more prevalent, (thread below), I want to desperately ask again that the heat gauge is looked at. I've had numerous rounds now where I've taken damage simply by walking into an area without atmospherics and not realizing how hot I was until I was on fire. Or, running for a bit too long and taking damage.

Schwann put it perfectly and I wholeheartedly agree with his sentiments. Wizard is nothing more than goof goof shenanigans and I always find it incredibly difficult to navigate playing a realistic character while a wacky robed wearing silly man turns people into animals, statues and teleports around the station. It simply isn't appropriate of a game mode for our server. Every time I get wizard on lowpop, I pray the antag will do a peace-wiz gimmick.

I've lately found that it can be difficult to play smart as an IPC due to the current meta surrounding EMPs and the Ion rifle. In that it typically boils down to being alive, and then being dead, worse so if you lag. It's impossible to dodge or even know these things might be coming, and excluding IPCs, then ion meta has boiled down to whoever ions the ion first. This is a much needed change and I am excited to see it implemented. This isn't related to the EMP/Ion changes but it'd be great if IPCs had a warning dialogue flash when they're close to death.

Reporting Personnel: Z.I.Brandon Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Warden (Zavodskoi Interstellar) Game ID: b9u-a6DQ Personnel Involved: Z.I.Brandon, Warden (Zavodskoi Interstellar) - Victim Ka'Akaix'Ghoz Zo'ra, Biomechanical Engineer - Offender Xiao Zemin, Research Director - Witness Astra Smith, Xenobotanist - Witness Secondary Witnesses: - Danny Wiles, Officer: Following my prolonged absence from the department, Officer Wiles came to check up on me nearing the end of my repair. Time of Incident: Real Time: 10/06/20 Location of Incident: Robotics Nature of Incident: [ ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ X ] - Destruction of Property [ ] - Neglect of Duty [ ] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [ X ] - Misconduct [ ] - Other Overview of the Incident: Following an accident that left me critically damaged, I was taken to Robotics for repair by Astra Smith. While seeing to my repairs, Ghoz removed my eyelids, citing I did not need them and refused to put them back. After arguing and calling out for help, Research Director Xiao Zemin remained in Robotics and insisted I was repaired. Ghoz instead added metal eyelids to my person and changed my accent. During the process I incurred further damages while being repaired. At some point during this, Miss Astra Smith had wandered by the window and stayed there, watching the event unfold. The situation escalated until I was forced to threaten Ghoz to fix my frame following their continued refusal. I drew my disruptor pistol, but I did not level it onto them. A gesture I regret, but it was one made while fearing for my existence. When Ghoz changed my accent a second time, to a Solarian accent, I threw them to the ground and demanded my repair. In total, my accent was first changed to Text to Speech, Solarian, Gibson and finally Biesellite. Ghoz inevitably cut synthetic skin from elsewhere on my frame in order to re-add my eyelids, instead of merely re-adding the ones they removed. I would like to file this incident report for the damages incurred on my chassis and the attempt to alter my frame without Zavodskoi Interstellar's consent. I was encouraged to write this report after remarking on it's events to a few crew members. If not for my safety, then the safety of other positronics aboard. Submitted Evidence: n/a Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: At the time I called out to help and was heeded by Xiao Lemin. They remained in Robotics and pressed Ghoz on multiple occaisions to repair me however, Ghoz was never reprimanded. Actions taken: n/a Additional Notes: I was moved to Robotics following an EMP spell from a wizard. However the following scene in Robotics was not antag related. It's been long enough that I also don't know the in game or real time. It would be maybe 30 minutes or so into the round. I was EMPed very early on.

NullObject's probably overthunk IPC application
niennab replied to NullObject's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hello, I talked your application over with the team and we've decided to deny your application for now. The biggest factor being that the application reads more like a human, over an IPC and thus does not demonstrate an understanding of the lore. Additionally, there are a number of red flags in the application itself. I believe it's a stretch to say that a Trinary Perfectionist Roboticist would program an IPC to be someone else, as it conflicts with the ideas of the religion itself. Moreover the application reads as though it's an attempt at the concept of a full body prosthetic, which I fear offers more of an excuse to play a robot as a human without the inherent nature of what'd make them robotic. This is part of why I am vehemently against FBPs in our lore. Although the character concept could be trimmed to match the lore, I would advise re-applying with a more common and perhaps owned IPC, then working on this concept after you have the whitelist. You're welcome to reapply in 3 days at the minimum. -
These look amazing and allow for more flavor between the departments. I'll also take any and every excuse to reintroduce colour back into this game.

NullObject's probably overthunk IPC application
niennab replied to NullObject's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Thank you for applying! Are you able to expand upon Arash's portion of the application? As it stands two paragraphs are dedicated to Arash Knapp where as Arash (IPC) only has one. It's also too much of a stretch that an Engineer would be able to program a positronic brain. How did Arash acquire the positronic brain and shell frame? How did he acquire the funds to have it altered to look like him? Where did Arash acquire their citizenship and how? An owned synthetic cannot acquire citizenship. Why did Arash (IPC) decide to move to Tau Ceti over remaining in the Coalition of Colonies? Where is the Coalition of Colonies are they from? -
I was always a fan of the blue wrist bound sprite for security so I am glad to see it back, as well as the on sprite removed.
