BurgerBB's Developer Application
PoZe replied to BurgerBB's topic in Developer Applications Archives
So we all heard about drama happening. But I was never involved into any of drama Burger was, so that makes me not taking any of the sides of the drama. I did though watched some of it, so I am kinda aware of it. Positive things: I loved your KA update so much, it was amazing. You fix your own bugs(which should be norm for all devs) You fix other bugs You spot problems while playing game and want to improve things. Negative things: I did not like Burrito Wars which seemed like a lots of effort spent to add something small. You get sometimes "triggered" which I understand, I used to do same thing and talking with other developers it seems like almost every developer and staff member went through this phase. The conclusion is that I mostly see positive things about Burger. To burger, I want you to understand that sometimes when you are fighting either maintainers or community on some thing and it doesn't seem like they agree with you, don't try to plow through it. I tried that method and it doesn't work, in the end decisions are finalized by Skull and now Arrow. I agree to put Burger on trial again. -
Basically what the name says, the secure lockers should be able to be locked/unlocked from the inside. Either with ID or PDA. Basically the way to explain this is that secure lockers usually read electromagnetic wave or signature of the device like ID or PDA. In real life we have cards that have electromagnetic signature and they unlock certain locks(I personally have one at my uni as staff member). So the thread should decided one of the things: Secure lockers cannot be locked/unlocked from the inside Secure lockers can be locked/unlocked from the inside using only PDA Secure lockers can be locked/unlocked from the inside using either PDA or ID. I already coded for the 3rd option, but I can always adjust it. https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/5305

Karolis2011 - Developer application
PoZe replied to Karolis2011's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Karolis code is always good, and clean. They demonstrate good knowledge of DM and especially HTML and JS. Their recent project VueUi is an amazingly huge project that currently requires whole dev + contributor team to review, this project is going to replace NanoUi with muuuuuch faster Ui. So all this make it a huge +1 -
I like your sprite example. Will be happy if you become official spriter! +1

I have experience in C, C++, C#, Java, Python, a bit of HTML and CSS with PHP. I have experience with DM approximately around half a year. Examples of Past Work: Most of work I have done on Aurora were bugfixes - I love fixing bugs, that helps me learn about our specifics and also I have hatred toward stupid bugs . In development I have made oxygen candles and Airbubble, and also changing some game mechanics like making wizard immune to their won EMP and same for cult, also banning IPC from doing blood drawing. I am currently developing commanded NPC combat companion for Mercs, it is getting into final phase before gameplay testing. I have noticed that some people complain about developers/contributors not listen to the feedback thread, or resisting community. I would like to point out that in every single case the creator of feature is a single person who does this as a hobby. Development is not an easy thing: you need to get idea present it ask if it is okay to make Implement idea find spriter(optional) Test idea Go through code review process These are not easy steps. Remember again that people have to spend their free time to do all this, on top of still playing game and doing real life things. For example it took me 3 months to do something as simple as oxygen candles - it is very small in code. But I had to research how mechanics of it works, test something, finish code and refine it into clean product. I personally actively develop on computer science team of a club in my university, and these two take time of their own. I found myself to not have enough time replying to every single post on feedback thread explaining how it works. Mostly because I would write in details my idea, and answer questions of people to only see other people posting same questions as previous people. I would really appreciate if people would take time to read entire post of thread and Q&A posts before they make duplicated questions that are paragraph long. That is my key point of this post. And please again keep in mind that contributor/developer is a one person, it is easy to try and make hoard of people to crash someone.

[Withdrawn] Burger's Developer Application
PoZe replied to BurgerBB's topic in Developer Applications Archives
+1 Burger is always coding new interesting features and is fixing bugs. It is funny that lots of his PRs made people scream, causing either extreme happiness or uhm hatred. -
Both are finished, and implemented. Airbubble waiting for merge Update: airbubble merged, part of June update

Few notes: it seems like the discussion grew into 13 pages, yet we have posts coming mostly from same people, only once in a while someone else would try to say their opinion to only be yelled at by several people who most likely live in this thread. When you say that someone ignores your argument it doesn't mean they do. Arguments can be valid, invalid, sound and unsound. Now a valid argument might not be sound, the reason why someone might not accept it. Please note again - I am the one who is making code change, some people confuse others and attack them as if they are the one who are coding changes. True, I am not as active in this thread as everyone else, but I still check on it and reply my opinion. First of all about IPCs taking rune damage, they are not allowed to draw runes in my PR, the only damage they take is from using talisman(as it contains blood already). I might take that damage as well. Problem of self-healing is the main feature of race they play, each race has its advantage. We do not see cult to be comprised of Dionea mostly, even though they regenerate fast. Potentially if desirable I can add rune that would heal cultist IPCs, again it would have to be drawn by organics, making IPCs depend on someone to heal themselves. Another note: I have been thinking to make cult armor not to cause IPC to overheat as well.
-
I am severely opposed to the notion of "cult EMPs" And making IPCs immune to EMPs when they are converted to cult. A EMP (or other basic effects) dont have a distinction between cult or not cult. EMPs are one of the few weaknesses that IPCs have and we do not need to remove that from them. Just watch out for IPCs if you use want to use a EMP. (Like you have to do in every other gamemode). But see, we have to have balance trade off. We want to keep IPCs being convertable cultists and we also want to ban them from rune drawing. That has to be somehow balanced, I propose to add immunity to cult EMP, as Narsie's magic shouldn't touch fellow cultists, since it is not regular EMP it is "special magic emp". Also my code foundation for making empulse accept list of exclusive atoms will allow for cleaner code. Wizards already have immunity to their own EMP pulse(after my other bugfix PR will be merged). Edited: Furthermore making all cultist not affected by their own EMP rune/talisman will also help organics with prosthetic limbs, so it is not just for IPCs. Remember that it is only applicable to cult rune/talisman EMP, any other EMP would still damage anyone

Your suggestion is to exclude the 50-60% of station most favorite species from having fun.
-
Just a note: I have already made all necessary code changes and tested them. Code is ready and waiting for an approval
-
I mean it won't be difficult for me to make them draw in oil instead of blood. It took me around 1-2 hours to make current changes which are ready. Currently IPCs will not be able to draw blood, but they are still able to use them and use talismans as both rune and talisman had someone's else blood. I will also remove IPCs from taking random brute damage from using talismans, unless we should leave it?
-
I have interacted with Burger ICly only with Diamond With Flaw. I enjoyed Rpying with this Dionea. However if this was an application for IPC, I would give a +1, but otherwise it is a -1(cause muh huh synth). But seriously thought, I am giving this a +1. The character has a conflict with its race traditions for being a minority, which adds a huge interest to it. I think it would be a great addition to our Unathi community.

[Accepted] LordFowl - Mapper/Coder Application
PoZe replied to LordFowl's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I have known Lord Fowl a bit a long time ago. From current experience, on github he seemed to have done a lot of coding. I think he will contribute well to the dev team, so +1. -
Please update Tesla Engine Page with adding this picture of fully assembled PA. It took me 30 minutes to figure out the proper parts, and their sides

[Withdrawn] PoZe's mapper/coder application
PoZe replied to PoZe's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Yes, I slowly start to get to know coding team! -
Ckey/BYOND Username: PoZe Position Being Applied For (coder, mapper, spriter): Mapper or Coder Past Experiences/Knowledge: I have experience in coding DM, making maps. Examples of Past Work: I used to have some example of sprites, and maps I made. A year ago I was working on resurrecting Luna built using Aurora build, I got around of making half of the ship, and started to implement new game-mode mechanics. Unfortunate system wipeout, and me not storing things on could left me with nothing of these works. Preferred Mode of Communication (Skype, Steam, etc.): Any: steam, discord, skype. Additional Comments: [Edited] I have been gone for a while, some of staff do not know me at all, but some do. I do know that this application seems weird, since I have no examples of work. But if you want me to show my skills just give me task to make new map, or change it, or code something. Currently looking into git issues to show them as my work. I have fixed access to Science Autopsy room, just need to merge the code.

I like Tau Empire. Now people would start to throw pictures like "commie" or "get lost communist". I know lore about Tau Empire, and the only similar thing I found between Tau and Commies is the fact that Tau want to unite everyone, and the fact that they are kinda based on Asian philosophy and style. They did not had RED revolutions, they did not conquered some worlds and made them starve. They did not threatened to turn galaxy into atomic dust. In general WH40k universe is amazingly fun, but sometimes it is so dumb. Like Dark eldar - they put major mage of chaos into soul-sucking machine to harvest souls from him, which had amplifying affect to his powers - so he destroyed entire planet just by that machine. Or that most of Imperial ships are like 5-10k years old! Made from mix of STONE and METAL! Also all these tensions between chapters, factions in Imperium. Like the only chapter that cares about civilians not to get in cross-fire are Salamander Marines. Some chapters have bad relationships to another chapters, Battle Sisters who despite Brother Marines. IG who relies on Mechanical Cult, at the same time breaking sometimes Mars Treaty, blah blah.

Then do a compromise: medium RP. Meaning that everyone has to know rules if you are vassal you obey your protector, and in case you do not want to you need to make a revolution and get a good reason for it. And so on.

From all the list above I only use Play as AI. Although after playing as AI race I would agree that it is pretty OP Race, since they do not require any food, their leaders are immortal. Funny moments: you need to enable your immortality as policy, you need to tell your sector governor to "build robots" to grow pop. You still research robots, just higher tear to make give them +5% bonuses. You still have to research habitability for different types of planets(Or maybe I missed that as choosing continent preference). And after you research "robots" that teirs up your pop it gives you "robot army" which eats energy and has less stats then regular attack/defense army. Quintuple Leaders and Planets - That is silly, you just co efficiently increase scale, but idea stays the same. It really matters not much if you have medium, big, huge map and if you have increased size of planets. Since you just make your game take "longer" to get into late game, but you still reach the point when you have to expand your empire border by attacking neighbors or colonizing. Doomsday Weapons and Ships - is interesting an interesting concept, usable for late game. Since nobody would try to build doomsday ship/weapon at middle game(unless you are in multiplayer playing with insane player who most of his game stays withing same territory just fortifying capitol with fortresses). Actually that was interesting to watch one player in muilting on 12+ huge game staying in his capitol all the time, he had his empire made for research speed, and mostly he maxed engineering. So in mid game he already had last Kinetic artillery. So he built 9 fortresses in his capital system, with last armour and weapon it was almost invincible.

Indeed Fractured Space is a great game. I started to play it since Alpha, was very disappointed when they made it free-to-play to bring online(since I spent 15$ on it in early access, and did not get much of rewards). The only cons I saw right now is that online is low, so the search time is average 5-15 minutes and sometimes even 30 minutes. And for very strange reason recently my team always loose, even when we rock. My favorite ships so far are enforcer, hunter, leviathan, destroyer, interceptor, paladin and black widow. Let me know if you want to play it sometimes, I am not on this forum at all. Just look for my steam Noob from UA or PoZe7 Here is some levi screenshot a year ago I made And an interceptor now:
