  1. I am one of those who does not wear the uniform, and I've understood that not doing so can land me up in a heap of trouble - ICly, at least. I concur with what Bear has said regarding that people have different subjective interpretations of what is appropriate, and what is not, but I think that an outline on the "Security Officer" wikipage would help clarify the situation. We already have a clarification for Roboticists that refuse cyborgification, which we expect players to adhere to, so I do not think that it would be too difficult to do the same for the Security Officer role.
  2. I think you roleplay well sometimes, but other times you sometimes lean into the mechanics of Security v Antag. You are improving, which is always a good sign, but I think perhaps some more time is required for me to support this application. I'll be keeping an eye on your characters you've listed above when playing, and I'll take note to see if my opinion here no longer applies. Regardless, I wish you luck for your application. Thanks for coming to Aurora!
  3. We have to be very careful what images we place on the Wiki, as it could come back to bite us in the ass. If possible, please reference where you got the images and the licensing that they fall under. Besides that, I enjoyed reading this update, and I give my support for its approval, should Lain accept it.
  4. Please update your format to reflect the changes, otherwise I will place this as 'medium' impact addition - the time interval of a month begins now.
  5. Labelling this as a 'small' impact. Two weeks starts now.
  6. Please adhere to the new requirements. I'm currently labelling it as 'medium' where the time interval of a month begins now.
  7. The Lore Team is at an impasse right now regarding this. There question right now is: do we need this? If you have the time, and are willing to further pursue this, would you mind exploring and expanding on what you've submitted? Maybe throw in some cool history facts, and just generally more. Otherwise it was a good read, but just feels like it could be expanded upon.
  8. Final Round of Bidding Concludes, Einstein Secures Foothold The majority of Phoenixport’s corporate assets have been given out in the three day long auction session, with NanoTrasen Corporation and Idris Incorporated managing to acquire around half of total, maintaining focus on crucial utilities such as shipping, telecommunications, entertainment services and the shuttleport. With this, the corporation’s plan on keeping the city integrated with the rest of Biesel has been achieved, blocking Einstein Engines from turning the city into an enclave, as it was before. On their part, the solarian company targeted the research and media sectors, managing to maintain their hold over the multitude of important laboratories, compounds and offices, securing an important foothold in the city and Biesel. The day began with the arrival of Miranda Trasen’s motorcade, accompanied by close relative Nathan Trasen in a surprise visit. Wearing a conservative white shirt with a black suit jacket, the NanoTrasen Chief Executive Officer entered the building without offering any comments, preferring to let her cousin handle the press. Nathan Trasen's statement: Following the Trasens, Alex Mason’s reinforced Langenfeld limousine came into sight about ten minutes later, with staff clad in dark cyan and coat-wearing shellframe IPC opening the doors and clearing the path for the banking magnate and his team. No comment was given, though very few questions were asked to begin with. Proceedings continued as usual, lasting well into the night, Idris Incorporated securing the Phoenix Agricultural Bank as their newest asset for the modest sum of 272.87 million credits. The final item was auctioned at 11pm Tau Ceti Standard Time, the event concluding twenty minutes after the Trasens and Alex Mason stepped out, of which a video was taken:
  9. Phoenixport Asset Auction Commences The bidding process for the corporate assets located in the city of Phoenixport has been put together in record time, organised and overseen by the Mayor and City Council with support from the central government. The event is open to all parties, though major players include the NanoTrasen Corporation, Idris Incorporated and a determined Einstein Engines, set to defend their holdings. Subjects of the auction include dozens of public and private companies, infrastructure and other assets, most prominent of them being Selene Shuttleport Limited, Phoenix Telecom, the Selenian Agricultural Bank and the Bateau Shipping Company. Analysts see NanoTrasen try to purchase the majority of these holdings in an effort to regain control of the city, though issues with the liquidity required for such an undertaking have been made apparent by the meetings between CEO Miranda Trasen and banking magnate Alex Mason at one of Adram Idris’ estates in rural Ashton. While the subject of the conversation is unknown, it’s widely speculated that an agreement for expedient financial support in exchange for further integration of Idris Incorporated in Tau Ceti is in order. Nonetheless, it is indicative of NanoTrasen’s close relation with their new ally. Commented Rook Keller, NanoTrasen’s 71 year old Chief Research Director, present at the auction house. Leading figures include Mio Suzuki, the famed inventor of the Suzuki-Zhang hammer drive, assigned to Tau Ceti to lead the company’s bidding, as well as Getmore CEO Mataji Khatri and their team. Miranda Trasen is rumoured to arrive during the proceedings, while Idris Incorporated is to be represented by Alex Mason. Other megacorporations such as Hephaestus Industries and Zheng-Hu Pharmaceuticals have sent observers without making any noteworthy intentions of serious participation.
  10. This application has been accepted. Welcome to the Cult that is the Lore Team.
  11. LORE DIARY ENTRY #15 This is a lore diary entry for April 2022. See below for changes to lore in this month! Major changes in the spoiler below! There's 1 Human, and 1 General entries. Medium-sized changes in the spoiler below! There's 1 Human, and 2 General entries. Small additional fluff in the spoiler below! There's 3 Tajaran, 4 Skrell, and 3 General entries.
  12. It's just a name, I don't really see a difference between Chief Security Officer or Chief of Security. It will be shortened to Chief, or Commander, anyway. Regardless, Head of Security's lifeline has passed and it is time to put it out to the pasture.
  13. Valkyrie Exchange Terminal Expands The Council of Valkyrian Affairs, more specifically Director-General Charles Arco, has announced that the Valkyrie Exchange Terminal will commence renovations and additions to both its residential and logistics sectors. Mare Gurgite is the proposed site of the Valkyrie Exchange Terminal’s expansion. Councillor of Economic Developer Arthur O’Donnell has announced that the Council will be contracting both Hephaestus Industries and the Orion Express to handle the logistics and construction of the extensions. Spanning just over a tenth of the lunar surface of Valkyrie, the Valkyrie Exchange Terminal is a non-corporate entity that manages the affairs of the biesellite moon, working closely alongside several megacorporations to fulfil economic quotas set by the greater Republic of Biesel. It has become a bastion of the biesellite multiculturalism in recent decades, which has led to the need to develop additional facilities to increase the number of residents it can house, and also provide career opportunities through expanding its logistics wing - likely to be assisted by the likes of the Orion Express.
  14. Coalition of Colonies becomes the Coalition of Companies. Then, truly, will the Spur burn.
  15. Goldman certainly was a character that you knew would at least make extended interesting - for lowpop, the predominate period which I play in. I do believe that returning as a Captain without additional structure to the character to address the above feedback may not be the best, however, in the position of a corporate liason would work well. Its a roleplay intensive role, which you excell at, and I think his lack of expanded authority would alleviate most of the issues that people have with the character. Additionally, people have different perspectives on Goldman, and I enjoyed most of the rounds that he featured in. I think hosting a forum like this (discussing the criticisms and requesting feedback) is definitely a step in the right direction, and I applaud you for doing so. Goodluck!
  16. I also support Chief Security Officer.
  17. I like this new design, but I agree with some of Yonnimers points. Perhaps it would be better for the Kitchen and Library to swap their location so that the Kitchen is more “central” and not necessarily just a add on on the end of a hallway? Otherwise I like the design you’ve recently done (the one you posted 9 hours ago)
  18. Article #3 of the Training the Horizon Wild Cetus on the Horizon Information gathered from yesterday’s press release by the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate has given us insight into the progression of its flagship, the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate Vessel Horizon. The crew of the Horizon reportedly were made aware of a deep space anomaly through its integrated scanning modules - and upon approach discovered a Stellar Dionae Primo, or a Wild Dionae Cetus - a mass of Dionae so immense, in the numbers of a million Dionae Nymphs, that it can be considered a stellar body, travelling across the Corporate Reconstruction Zone. The crew of the Horizon were able to locate the Stellar Dionaea Primo - a gigantic coalesced being of thousands of Dionae Nymphs that are considered ‘untamed’ and travel across the stars with no knowledge of civilization or culture - thanks to the electromagnetic disturbances created through the Wild Cetus’ connection to a destroyed freighter. While it is unknown how the freighter was acquired by the organisms, it can be presumed through exchanges between the crew and the Dionae, that the Cetus is the likely reason for its derelict state - and based on previous events such as both Dionae-Skrell First Contact and the tragedy of the Ophion, it would be a probable assumption. Dionae present on the Horizon were able to translate the intentions of the Wild Cetus, seemingly travelling across the stars to the location of their seeding grounds, referred to as the “Unabating Call” believed to be a pulsar located approximately less than a light-year from the Cetus’ last known location after the Horizon continued on its journey. There have been discussions from the scientific community within the Republic of Biesel, with many hoping to study and observe the Cetus. Date: 4/24/2464
  19. Hi there. Goodluck, there are no wrong answers.
  20. Deadlantern’s suggestion is actually pretty good, I vote for Crusher!
  21. It feels a lot more clunkier than the previous iteration of the Kitchen. I think it is the horizontal tables, instead of the verticle ones. Yes, this is what I mean. The relocation of the shutters to their current location doesn't align with the SCCV Horizon. If you go there, you'll see that theres a disconnect. This is my main problem. I like that the wall has been removed, so its not separated, but I don't see the point in moving it two tiles to accomodate this. I prefered the other style (would've been better without the wall) where it was enclosed within its own corner. The current one feels like its trying to force interations between the Kitchen and the Bar - it already gets difficult to follow a conversation at the Bar with 5 seats, now with an extra 5 across the hall I can't imagine it'll be any easier. Again, the previous iteration just felt like a starship kitchen. Compact, efficient. This one just feels like the Aurora Kitchen plastered onto the SCCV Horizon. Theres nothing "new" about it, and it feels bigger and clunkier.
  22. I may not play Chef, but I regularly staff the Kitchen as my Captain. Every shift I'll go down and make some meals for the crew to enjoy, I'm there at least every shift if there isn't a Chef. I don't find the above cramped, I find it quite big and rather disjointed. I like cramped, which is why I like the previous iteration! The previous iteration was compact, but I felt like it was designed better besides the minor issues with the closing off from the main hallway. I also preferred the freezer downstairs as it was easier for antag shenanigans. I find the shutters over the tables to be rather ugly when they're down, they don't line up with the rest of the SCCV Horizon unlike the previous iteration. You mentioned that "Room is a luxury thats not wasted" but ... I feel this is a bigger waste of space than the previous iteration? It feels further to travel around the Kitchen that the previous iteration. I think removing the wall from the closed-off section from the previous iteration is the only think I would suggest in alterations. The rest of it I enjoyed. It was compact. It was efficient. This feels disjointed, and has some minor design flaws that ultimately make it ... "ugly".
  23. Hi there. Just some questions. Do you mind expanding on this? Which teams do you think are lacking a direction and/or lagging behind their other counterparts in development? It is my belief that the Lore Team has improved significantly in this aspect. I do consider that at the time the LT was still adjusting to the new Lore Team Administration, and the loss of one of its eldest writers, and that is what caused issues with the development of Lore Team Projects. I have since changed the approach and made it a more communal experience to develop LTPs, with some minor sections still being assigned to some teams. Do you have an issue with this new approach? How would you attempt to change the approach to LTPs? How would you handle Lore Teams that don't want to handle the issues that crop up with interspecies collaboration? For an example, the Vaurcae Team and the Dionae Team oversee a planet. The Dionae Team wishes to add additional lore regarding Dionae/Vaurcae relations on the planet, but the Vaurcae Team doesn't want that lore addition to be merged, and actually doesn't want the Dionae Team to even have a say in the oversight of the planet. How would you deal with that situation? I am concerned with this. I do not see how having storng ties to some of the writers on the team is an advantage, if anything I see it as a disadvantage. You will be required to disipline those you have strong ties with, or maybe remove them from the team. Do you think you can be objective? This is untrue, but easily can be misunderstood. The Lore Team Administration has the responsibility transferred to them to handle the administrative requirements of a Lore Writer, not necessarily regarding developing and adding additional lore without the oversight of the Lore Writer. It is important that the Lore Team Administration also respects the jurisdiction and boundaries of the Lore Writers. I hope that helps clarify things. Goodluck. There are no wrong answers. I am also interested to see your responses to Triogenix's questions.
