Type (e.g. Planet, Faction, System): Skrell Frontier Founding/Settlement Date (if applicable): 2388 CE, reason being that Skrell Frontier is considered all entities belonging to Skrell but is not part of the Federation. Region of Space: Skrell Frontier Controlled by (if not a faction): A multitude of independent entities, primarily Skrell. Other Snapshot information: I just felt this is a topic that should be touched upon more. There's a lot of hints about it detailed in the articles and a lot of it based on conjecture by myself. Mostly personal theory making. I've got a lot of personal work I've written down and I've decided to release a few, this one included. I'm also limiting this to a simple example from my end, while I have seven currently, I'm only detailing one for personal reasons. Long Description: The frontier of Sol is well known and large, with the limit of what it can hold being your creativity, though that isn't our topic for now, we're going to touch upon something largely unspoken of. The Skrell after the formation of the new and current Federation never truly recovered, and are still as if the year 2459 still attempting to unify their race with the many systems and sectors still out there. The tools of diplomacy being the staple of their foreign policy for their unification effort, along with the exploration of the void to find their distant and lost kin, separated by the tragedy committed by the abominable machine. Example: The Technocracy of Qumiry After the end of Glorsh, the Technocracy was born, made up of neighboring star systems on the fringe of the former Federation, with the understanding that only through harnessing technology, to learn from the mistakes of old, and the proper usage of Artificial Intelligence, that their kind can survive. A Skrellian by the name of Qumiry, a leading physicist and renowned author prior to the third incident championed this method of thinking and was elected as the leader of the Technocratic Council. Upon the death of Qumiry-Siruil Zuriel and in memory of his efforts to unify his kind, the Technocracy of Qumiry was renamed. At this time, the Technocracy has cold relations with its neighbors and especially the Federation due to their strong dependence and usage of Synthetics, along with the fact they have refused all attempts of becoming part of the Federation. Their growth has been very minimal and minuscule since their inception. While they still maintain synthetics, they are treated like slave labour with strict and decisive safe guards, which remain a safe guarded secret. They are also exceptionally guarded towards other species, not permitting entry to anyone that is not a Skrell.

Type (e.g. Planet, Faction, System): Martial Art - Fluff for Skrell Founding/Settlement Date (if applicable): No specific date than that it was developed around the early days of Glorsh-Omega that developed and spread. But if a hard date is required, I'd say it saw widespread usage around 2060's CE. Region of Space: City of Gli'morr - Jargon Federation Controlled by (if not a faction): Irrelevant Other Snapshot information: Just some fluff I've developed for two of my Skrells, it spread to the point I've seen it mentioned a few times and I felt a bit more fluff for Skrell would do them good. Long Description: Karak Virul is a martial art form originally developed in the city of Gli'morr. Its origins first came to be during the Abomination regime known as Glorsh-Omega, a form of competitive sports that did not require forceful combat, but rather the induction of pain and the disabling of a persons body without incurring any injuries. With the lack of leisure facilities and a regime that exploited them, this became a popular sport as it helped grow the bond between other while maintaining a competitive nature. The Karak Virul began to evolve after the formation of the new and current Federation, with it also acting as some form of a spiritual exercise similar to yoga. It was even adopted by the Federations Armed Forces, for the practicality of it permitting the capture of high value targets without incurring little to any damage to the person's physical health. In terms of game play, this can be played out by avoiding punches and kicks, but rather focus on grappling an opponent to make them immobile. Joint locks and limb dislocation while not pain free, should not pose any long term health implications. An example is when I play a character of mine. Weirup Vi'lees, a security officer of mine. If I were to ever perform CQC and I am unable to use any of my security tools whether as a lack of it or a decision not to use it, I would always attempt to fight them to submission or until they are knocked unconscious from the pain as a result of joint locks

[Resolved] Ban Request - Jesse Armstrong

This might be more suited in the player/character complaint section as opposed to the ban request section. -
[Resolved] Staff Complaint - OneOneThreeEight/Scheveningen
Faris replied to UnknownMurder's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
As the Detective during this round, I had identified Bit as the primary suspect and culprit shortly after the elevators were repaired the first time. All facts were relayed to the Captain, Head of Security and Chief Engineer as the unit was of an engineering module. Security was also constantly reminded of Bit, but I believe they were spread thin and suffered casualties. -
[Accepted] SHODAN's Head of Staff Whitelist Application
Faris replied to Rushodan's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I just want to say that Shodan as a player and the character Sophie Rifler has come a long way from when they first came. This shows by just how often they've been getting interim position along with the fact they are so open and receptive to criticism along with advise, which they implement. My only gripe about people that only play security is that they don't really have much of an OOC perspective on other departments, but that's about it from me. I have full confidence that Shodan will be able to ease themselves into a full fledged command member as opposed to interims. So my final verdict, +1. -
I don't mind removing this and giving you a chance, keep in mind the primary reason your ban was issued was since you logged off, which made it appear as some griefer act. In the future, even if you make a mistake like this, send an adminhelp and inform us of what happened. Mistakes happen and we completely understand. Edit: Ban has been lifted, should take effect by next round. Locking and archiving.

For reference.

I've been informed of an upcoming promotion if I deny the fact this complaint has any valid ground. I'll be locking and archiving this but I'll leave it open pending community feedback and discussion.

Hi, this is a notification that I'll be taking over this complaint.

Hi so, I'll start by linking the staff complaint format, I'd advise you modify it so that it fits the criteria we have for complaints. https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=22 My next point will be moving on towards the full warning itself, something you did not show in full, your warning was not just about turning yourself into a slime person, it includes the hostile nature of your attitude you've presented to people. Here is also a note regarding the previous time I spoke to you, which I'll note is slightly modified as it contained instructions to staff. Now, let's move on to the logs. I'll show an LOOC piece of chatter you directed at people as you disagreed with the in-character action of people. Now to the actual discussion between the two of us. For the sake of clarification, there was a mishap of who took the adminhelp presented by ActualDracula between Pikl and myself, so do note putting in logs between ActualDracula and Pikl is relevant here, the earlier parts may be confusing but it was a mishmash between the two of us until we corrected it. The Ahelps in question. The part between Pikl and Actual Dracula. Between myself and Actual Dracula, I'll be breaking the conversation into sections and explaining things for context. Onto the two people I contacted, Captain and Head of Security. With all that in mind, I stand firm with my decision. Onto something you wrote that I'd like to contest. To put it bluntly, I didn't really know you until the two times in which I spoke to you. I think you'd be hard pushed to find that I hate any individual. Furthermore, I don't think I've ever interacted with your character.

I won't go in depth as about it, but while I see that BSA may have the temperament needed to OOC'ly be a good head of staff, I don't believe it would make very much sense from the IC'ly stand point due to the nature of his origins, something I'd seem as a security risk due to past affiliations. Keep in mind that command roles in general and especially loyalty implanted ones are heavily vetted. The only thing missing for me to +1 this is for you to apply as another character and to affirm that Adolph won't be played as an HoS.

IPC is the only one where this was specified, but I feel like it's a given Dionae wouldn't be taken for ERT either. I've seen Taj ERT, is Unathi ERT a thing as well? I saw the option for it during an ERT round last night but received no response about whether it'd actually be acceptable or not when I asked about it. I believe Human, Skrell, Tajara and Unathi are permitted ERT roles, but only Human and Skrell are permitted the role of Lead.

Hi, just going to post a fact. Gas masks are in no shape way or form comfortable and actively wearing without purpose can and will degrade it, this isn't shown by the mechanics currently.

I am partial, actually I am adamant with saying that this statement acts no more as a filler in your wall of text due to simply how untrue this is. If this is truely how you believe it is, from experience, then I believe you should rethink the kind of people you work with. The whole point of being mature is to know what's right and wrong, and being able to determine it properly even when you're subject to that. You're correct, social graces is not everyone's forté, but if you act like that is your excuse, to me it is not a valid one. Infact I believe a team should have the proper chemistry to work together well as opposed to repelling each other. Your attitude be it within staff or even in the public discord to me is simply unacceptable and I've voiced it as such. I may have already said that you've been warned for being untactful when it comes to spouting your opinions but that still doesn't excuse posting the following. I don't think this was acceptable then and it gives off a good idea on what you consider alright and how your filter works when sharing opinions. I won't even go on to touch the disagreements between other developers as its already been touched. I'm not going to say you haven't done good work as a coder/developer. Be it small or big, at the very least some people enjoyed your work. That's not what is being questioned here. The question here is why are you so socially repulsive? Where you're driving people off? All staff are volunteers here, we do it out of our free time and will for a plethora of reasons. But the fact we are volunteers, doesn't mean any of us want to deal with any form of toxicity, outlined by people in this thread or in other occasions. -

For the benefit of transparency, regarding the topic of their political opinions. While it is fine to voice your opinions of beliefs, it should be clear of bigotry, insults and should still have some level of tact. They have been warned of such and dealt with appropriately with the incident in question and haven't done it again since. -
[Resolved] Staff complaint - Scheveningen
Faris replied to AWPen's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Hi, sorry for the delay, assumed someone took it over. So, in regards to OOC in IC rules, you can be as obscure or as obvious as you like, it doesn't change the fact a rule was broken here. It is my firm believe that the two strikes were just and that you've corrected your ways since then, I don't believe you suffered any infractions after that. Locking and archiving. -

I'm more partial to Schev here. "Heckling" as you put it is fine in certain situation. There's a difference between intruders running around the station regardless if they've done anything yet to crew members threatening to do things. The way I see it, you are in the modern equivalent of "heckling" pirates that are about to raid your ship. The setting of our lore emphasizes that while intruders/pirates aren't a daily occurrence, that they are more often than not a credible and dangerous threat, hence why security is armed with lethal weaponry and can call in paramilitary forces. Furthermore, keep in mind Schev wasn't really there to punish you, he was speaking to you, emphasizing that it is more of a learning experience rather than a punishment. I don't think this was him harassing you. I would like to apologize for the delay, bit busy with a few things. I'm going to leave this up for a bit, incase there's any other points you'd like to raise, you could also contact me on discord if you want to discuss this more actively. -
Alright, ban is removed, it should take affect by next round. Locking and archiving.

[Accepted] Lualyrr's IPC Whitelist Application
Faris replied to Lualyrr's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
So to touch on the OOC parts. I think Lualyrr is a good member of this community with characters that are enjoyable to play with from the OOC level, and as a person that was helping them with their application prior, I can tell with certainty they've put a lot of thought and time into this, while it may not entirely translate into this application, a lot of thought was put in how they'd be on the station. Now onto the IC side of things. There's nothing better to me than a normal and basic background story that isn't pushed to the extremes of the realistic limits we have for synthetics. It's short and sweet, conveying all that is needed and I like it. The fact it is acknowledged by yourself that while they don't feel emotion, synthetics can however simulate it is another good point. So all in all, you get a +1 from me. -
I'm willing to give you another chance but you need to understand that if you: a) Continuously fall SSD without entering cryo. b) Enter storage with your equipment Or even any other violation stipulated in the rules, a job ban will mostly likely return be it temperory or permanent. I'm also going to tell you to give the rules a read and to reply to this post that you've read the rules and understand what I've written above.

Locking and archiving per the posters request.

I'm going to echo what Prat is saying here. From my personal experience dealing with you and observing, you seem to have the tendency of always wanting to go for the kill, as opposed of seeking more safe and better alternatives ((In my opinion at least)). There's also the fact you left on a bit of a break and only recently just came back, so there's little to base off of here but the few interactions I've had with you. Personally I think you should postpone this application for another time and to expand a bit more on your OOC answers, they seem to me to mostly be filler text and repeated points. So for the time being a -1 from me.
