AmoryBlaine Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Resprite of the standard Mercenary equipment- specifically; Two uniforms, rather than just one. They both can be rolled down, and have their sleeves rolled up. SWAT boots, and gloves are both replaced with grey, riot-esque armor over brown-green boots and gloves. Spoiler A new heavy vest, plus a new light vest, as well as unpictured helmet. Spoiler New Syndicate packs. Spoiler
AmoryBlaine Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 A new mask. I intend to change the visor, but this is effectively what it'll look like. It's a balaclava combined with a gasmask. No more will your enemies identify you by your hair style and or colour, just by the fashionable tact-wear. Spoiler
AmoryBlaine Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 There is no belt resprite present, because I already did it, and it's in the game.
SleepyWolf Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 very desaturated, which I don't think fits with how we want mercs to be.. at least I don't think. personally, i am against the constant desaturation you're doing, even if they are good sprites.
kyres1 Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 I agree with sleepy, honestly. Make them alternative outfits, not replacements. Mercs should have a reserve of outfits anyway.
AmoryBlaine Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 @kyres1 @SleepyWolf I mean, this is what the overall ensemble would look like. Mind you, again, the visor is just a placeholder. I'm not sure what I'd like it to look like yet.
NewOriginalSchwann Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Hello, I was informed to post this here: It's good, but needs a future SSh-68 (and other depressing Soviet bloc helmets) to really sell the second-hand military surplus aesthetic.

Precisely this. The sprites are good but it's all just so drab-looking.
AmoryBlaine Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 Better outlines on the uniforms. I'll maybe redo the helmet. Final version of the mask.
Brutishcrab51 Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 I like Amory's sprites, it gives a bit more of a gritty appearance to the mercenaries. Not everything has to be bright, and these look great.
AmoryBlaine Posted July 16, 2019 Author Posted July 16, 2019 I need someone to pick this up for a PR.
veradox Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 acknowledged a warning to say these look great. drab and dull is a fine angle for mercenary appearance, efficient military grade equipment and sexy looking bags combined with basic uniforms for the more organized approach. looks GREAT. if there's concern about color then having alternatives is always an option, but these fit the bill for a professional, no-nonsense mercenary outfit.
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 I really feel that you are inundating uniforms that are khakis or desaturated to heck. These don't have a pop to them. As options it's cool but please don't make these mandatory.

They don't fall under a specific faction.
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 I dont think intentionally making the clothes bland and boring is the way to go, sorry. -1

Why it should stand in contrast to all the faction specific suits that you can access as merc and why it shouldn't do it's best to blend in with anything.
Mogelix Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 (edited) 'sorry i dont like scary gritty desaturated things blaine can you design a merc outfit with this color scheme?' Jackboot, thats some pretty 2D thinking to the idea of aesthetic quality. ofc this is all subjective but please keep in consideration this should be the standard stuff you spawn with, the go to professional generic merc look. the merc base should then be littered with personalized items/you should be able to get less generic faction specific stuff somehow. again, these look really good generic surplus aesthetic, way better then our current mix match turtleneck magboots heavy armor look, (why that is acceptable generic forced syndicate merc look and this isnt is beyond me). let mercs be able to pick specific factions/personalize at their will, but also have a good looking generic starter kit. +1 Edited September 3, 2019 by Mogelix
Doxxmedearly Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Generic, but not bad as alt uniforms at all. Good for gimmicks where you want to look really professional. I don't think JB's critique of desaturation is a bad one; you can have colors pop without going full cartoon. But Kyres is right in that they need more selection, and these are nicely done and would be a good set in a pool of choices.
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 (edited) Theres not a binary choice between faded khaki and candy crush cartoons. Why are you so upset? Saturate them please. And they are bland. Camo kills creativity. We are in space where we have no foilage to hide in. Even a small breath of life would enter these with saturation or leaning towards a particular color. The alliance is black white and gray tv static camo. The TCFL is blue. The ERT is color coded per job. What are these? Edited September 3, 2019 by Marlon Phoenix

What are these? mercs can choose between 5 aesthetics to pursue, the least we can do is give them desaturated optional uniforms and bags to fit with any aesthetic they may pursue instead of black and red across the board.
Scheveningen Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 why use big words when small one do trick I don't really mind these outfits. I think they're better than what we have.
Mogelix Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 It's not Camo, it's plain khaki, ala Soviet Afghan war. It's slightly depressing but maybe people will prefer it to candy crush real P O P aesthetics.
IAmCrystalClear Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 These sprites are perfect. The colour scheme is dry, but it blends in and does not have any one faction’s look. The very term of “Mercenary” means that they are independent, for sale soldiers. Their base colour palette should be dry, and the various faction gear they can get should be added to it.
