Azande Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 \ Port these to Aurora, they'll help fill a gap left by Security Cyborgs without enabling valid-hunting, powergaming and OPness in general. Would even suggest not giving them security comms access, but Service access instead as they will be focused more on promoting morale and wellness.
ben10083 Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 I feel that this feature is big enough that a straight port may not be the best choice, perhaps a similar toolset and different sprites?

I would like similar sprites to these, but perhaps the arms removed. They are based of IRL police robot models. Some adjustments for our environment will be required.
Kaed Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 Nope, still hate it. Don't want more goofy memes added to the game. I'm not against adding something to replace security, but I don't want it to dispense cookies and give hugs or any silly nonsense.
Pratepresidenten Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 What gap did the removal of secborgs leave exactly? The AI/any borg can still fill the void without needing to toe the line of breaking your laws. At best, the peacekeeper would be some offshoot civillian module for comfort/morale boosts, and I think noone would even want to interact with it and would shoo it away as its practically useless.

There's no gap that needs filling. I'm not opposed to a service-type borg that acts as a morale booster, but there's a lot of meme factor to this. Plus we already have pray for cookies. (I do wanna hug that borg sprite tho) Edited October 22, 2019 by Doxxmedearly

The ability to be part of the security team and therefore have any reasonable interaction with the part of the round that is fun for many people, i.e. antagonists. While I agree that sec borgs were stupid validhunting trash due to their kit, it's not precisely fair to say no borg player should be allowed to participate actively in antagonist events. So, idea - instead of adding a new borg type, what if we made all the departmentally unaligned borg types, like service, standard and clerical, able to choose one radio channel they are tuned into when they pick the module. This would allow you to play generic borg assigned to any department you wish, so you can participate in that department without actually needing to be +1 sec officer to join in security. That way you offer some special variety to borgs not with department-specific tools, like a paperwork borg in command and a service borg who dispenses coffee to security and the filthy criminals in the brig. Itanimulli Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 YES YES YES YES YES! P l e a s e! +1, fight amongst yourselves to finalize the form, but Peaceborgs are great for crew interaction. I suppose one can argue a meme factor exists, but...we already have a way to deal with memes. And I'm sure we could easily rework them to better fit within the setting.
Sytic Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 It's a meme. Plus, rescue borgs, as stated, are literally better versions of secborgs. The gap is filled by acting intelligently. -1.
Garnascus Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 These meme robots are annoying and hated by all rational creatures. They are only enabled by the Asimov law set which we all know is objectively the worst law set. No thank you. I rebuke this particular devil. -1
Carver Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 This feels like the dumbest replacement imaginable for Security Stationbounds. It's a silly meme module akin to Brobots but far less 'cool'.
Arrow768 Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 I have to concur with what Garn said. The peacekeepers is not a good fit. This has also been suggested in the topic that caused the removal of the borg and has been rejected back then aswell (if I remember correctly) Therefore I am second Ing the vote for dismissal on this topic. However I would not be opposed to a new module if there is a gap that needs to be filled and that gap is not filled by porting a bad meme. (but that's something for a new topic)
