Butterrobber202 Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 The Lawgiver is an extremely OP Weapon that can nearly instant-kill anything with a few shots. It's either, A.) Stolen by Antags and is used to murder Sec with ease. B.) Taken by Sec and is used to murder the Antags with ease.
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 I've seen a lawgiver used maybe... Three times this year. It's an extremely rare, high-end weapon with consistent counters.
Ron Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 It's meant to be strong as it's hard to get. I'm against removing this.
sonicgotnuked Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Law givers are easy to get now, we have a new mining system. It only takes 30 minutes at RnD to get it. Old map there was never any miners, that is why it was rare. It is a extremely over powered weapon and not all antags have access to EMPs and ion weapons.
AllyBearsley Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Then if something is very powerful and easy to get, wouldn't the next logical step BEFORE removing it be: make it harder to get?
Butterrobber202 Posted July 29, 2017 Author Posted July 29, 2017 It's meant to be strong as it's hard to get. I'm against removing this. Â *Does 30 minutes of research* >Lawgiver
Scheveningen Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 you actually need materials to get those levels. if research does their job and finishes r&d off that's pretty much a good thing in one way, but it's kinda the responsibility of the RD to ensure stuff doesn't get out of the lab, and for security to keep watch if science is pumping effort into r&d. Anything's easy to obtain if you powergame to get it as soon as possible. Lawgivers shouldn't be a researcher's priority, I hope people know that. a half hour is a fair deal of time, just gonna say that now.
Azande Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Lawgivers SHOULD be research's priority if they want to do weapons research, don't force RnD scientists into a box please!!
Scheveningen Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Yeah goodness forbid they follow Directive Four and other regulations. What a terrible box to be put in, to be told to follow corporate law and use common sense ICly.
sonicgotnuked Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Lately I been seeing RDs pump them out themselves, there is a reason I don't do that as RD unless have good reason :/
sonicgotnuked Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Also the main problem with RnD, zero risk, high reward. Click, click, done.
Scheveningen Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Maybe one day we'll get an overhaul, but, meh. As of now the RD can choose to delete blueprints directly from the R&D server hub if he/she/it so chooses. You can delete the lawgiver itself or all of the progress done in combat tech.
Dreamix Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Wait until the meta research project is finished, and then you'll have lawgivers 5 minutes into the round. But, yeah. Nothing in research is particularly hard. It's always been a contest of who can powergame the tech tree and get to the fun part faster. Especially now when mining is played by so many people.
Arrow768 Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Before removing any weapons I think it would be quite interesting to implement the firing pin system (that tg ? has) Where you need to insert a specific firing pin into a weapon before it can be used. But this is something for another topic. The lawgiver is easily countered by using a emp, as its a energy based weapon. If research is responsible with them and hands them to the persons that should use them, so they can immediately lock it, its nearly impossible that they are misused. There are only a handful of weapons that do something interesting. Thats why I am against removing the lawgiver
Alberyk Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 I am against removing them because they are an unique weapon, with clear weakness and locked behind research. +1 vote for dismissal.
Faris Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 I echo Alberyk's sentiment here. +1 vote for dismissal.
