I don't see a reason for this to exist, as for it to be non annoying, it would be able to be done while moving, which changes nothing balance wise, and just makes the game less responsive and more annoying.

-- In my observation, it wins out over Secret (which obvi takes first place) more often than other mode. "Shitty gamemode" is subjective, and it seems like plenty of people disagree with you. Alright, Look at this chart. it is EVERY one of the last 43 rounds that didn't end in a crash. Of that - only 4 were extended. less than 10% And it might be good to add that Secret also includes Extended, so realistically I'd say about one of those was from a secret roll. so if we do some simple math: you get a whopping 7% of rounds being a voted extended. and people likely vote for extended because it HAS every other gamemode. And I could make the argument that extended being shitty ISNT subjective. but I digress.

Extended is inherently a shitty gamemode, and if I had to guess, one of the least liked of the community. I can't see any actual benefit to adding this, asides from making 50% of the rounds tooth grindingly boring.

Do we not need two people by the rune to convert someone here? -

Pacmandevil replied to NebulaFlare's topic in Archive
I don't see an actual reason for this. if your reason is "it's messy" then just clean it. -
saying "it should be delt with ICly" just means that in most cases, it won't be delt with, as the behaviour is common place. and very few people give a shit. if it was against regulations, it'd open up the possibility for IRs and Fines, which people'll bitch about. but they'll eventually figure it out.

Honestly Dress code on the station is a major issue, either due to snowflakes wearing a dress while mining or something retarded like that, or Urist McTacticool wearing a turtleneck while in sec. Both of which are memes, and both of which should be heavily discouraged imo if we want the setting to maintain any sense of professionalism.

I'm pretty sure the actual reason with rev is that people rarely have an IC or OOC reason to join the revs. ICly it makes no sense to join most of the time, as at best it'd be a huge headache for all the paperwork from the inevitable IC shitstorm that would brew up at centcomm, and that's only if the Loyalsts are giving people a reason to join the revs in the first place. which they rarely do from my admittedly rather old experiences. And OOCly you're outmatched by loyalists in the first place due to them having practically guaranteed better gear.

inb4/also after people actually take this seriously. -
That would just give two-three seconds to book it.

It'd be really funny if you could tape a picture up to a camera. but I doubt that it's easy, or even possible to do sanely.

[Denied] Moderator Applocation - Pacmandevil
Pacmandevil replied to Pacmandevil's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
There's actually several reasons why I haven't been playing recently, a large lack of free time is one of them. this is planned to change soon enough, but I can understand denying the app because of this. -
Basic Information Byond Account: Pacmandevil Character Name(s): Eldmund Fernando, Triston Richards. AI Name(s): Not Applicable, I generally play borgs with the default name. Preferred means of contact: Discord, I'll shill out my phone if needed. Age: 23 Timezone: Atlantic standard time. When are you on Aurora?: My sleep schedule and free time are in a constant state of being massively fucked up. it's inconsistent at best. How long have you played SS13?: A long while. I actually can't remember when I got introduced to it. How long have you played on Aurora: over a year, now. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: The only thing that I haven't done so far is engineering. and by that I mean pretty well just the engine. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: No. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: I called a staff member Autistic in LOOC once, I memed on a dude for calling a crew transfer just as an admin was starting an event once. Uh. I think that's it? Might be wrong though. Why do you "play" SS13?: Because it's a fun game. and because my internet is often too shitty for anything else. Why do you "play" on Aurora?: It's SS13 with higher standards. and was a good place to relax or just generally chill out while playing. What do moderators do?: Act as Mentors, by giving links to the wiki. getting bullied by the entirety of the discord, Moderate the rules. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: That you care enough about the server to maintain it's rules and put up with the shit people give you. Why do you want to be a moderator?: Good question. I feel that I'd be able to do a good job of it, personally. I wouldn't be applying if I thought otherwise. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: Back around half a year ago was a pretty fucking huge speed bump in this regard, all sorts of shit was going south in my life. so I took out my anger in 2d spessmens. I'm glad to say I've reverted back to my Generally relaxed shitposting self that's remained consistant for most of my life, really. If someone just called me an insult, it's very, very likely I wouldn't care at all about it.

so a minor "band aid fix" - which uses another bad, and pretty meme-worthy feature of RnG bullet fixes, for the MAJOR advantage of an aimbot? I'd support making aim simply just apply the aiming overlay element, but by no means should any form of auto-aim exist in this game. it's a toxic feature, and was often abused, requiring literally no mechanical skill. I still hold the opinion that if you want to take a hostage, you have a million tools available to you, without expecting players to not act dumb. The old Aiming "feature" had the following issues. [*]Misuse - People liked to pretend that it was an instant "free hostage" button, when they clicked someone who was walking through maint, resulting in the instantly getting shot, and someone hearing the shot and calling sec. - notice how most successful hostage situations during this time were either when someone was massively outmatched and WASNT ambushed, like some Merc team holed up near arrivials. (Though I only remember a situation like this post newmap, Ironically after the nerf) This could in theory be solved by returning the second shot free - by the time of which they would have hopefully stopped instead of finding cover or walking 7m away, but that leads to the second one. [*]Abuse - Self Explanatory. people abused it for it's cheap, free auto-aim as a consistent and easy way to win fights. this felt cheap, and unfair to fight against, as I can't think of a consistent way to REMOVE the aim. which led to a toxic feature. Features, when added. should consider the lowest tier of player that Isn't griff. people USING - as this wasn't abuse. of a game mechanic to win gunfights was poorly thought out. [*]Restrictions and poor default settings. As stated earlier, the default settings almost always resulted in someone instantly getting shot, and felt shit. especially because they would walk like 5 steps before even noticing someone aimed at them, resulting with someone at best being stunned, and at worst dead on the ground with internal bleeding, but hey death is cheap so that doesn't matter. This could in theory be solved by changing the defaults, or making it prefs based, but then people would just walk out of range. it's spessmens, you only see 7 meters in front of you. [*]A mechanic balanced around RP this is never going to work. it'd be like giving psych an insta fix brain damage tool but saying that you can only use it after doing a psych session with someone. and despite this breaking all known laws of physics by giving the psych an actual use, it'd be a horrible, abused feature that renders brain damage useless (despite it being pretty much that already) but hey, it has RP intentions, thus it's fine, right? My suggestion for the people who want to take hostages would be to use the literal thousands of ways to disable someone to disable them, instead of relying on an abused, dead horse that should be buried. I'd be all for the addition of more ways to disable comms - which is one of the main issues, or at least mute people. The para/sleepy pens are great for this, especially with some of the things you can get with TC, in a pinch, as say: a cult, or revs. you can get autoinjectors or the hypospray. Or a radar jammer and a stunprod. or the meme hug stun instead of a magic circle that forces people to stop everything.

Feedback - The Azure Princess Azala Guwan
Pacmandevil replied to Tomiix's topic in Character Stories
see a guwan want them gone. -
something something borgcode is a shitheap. this isn't a BAD suggestion, just one that most devs probably wouldn't want to touch with a 10 foot pole.

While you're not exactly wrong, it's uh. It's a low res simulation game where where characters are seen from the side despite the game being top down, most sprites don't have more than one direction, and computers suddenly shift from being side-slanted bulky boxes to fancy front-on holoscreens the moment you add a glass pane.. I don't think anything that makes the graphics look a bit nicer is going to be very amiss. it makes the graphics more inconsistent, thus worse. they'd stand out, and not really in a good way based on most thing's perspective.

That's barely a requirement, I've never seen medical run out of Synthmeat, and even if they do, they can just ring up the Botanist. Alkyskine is only needed to treat a the few downsides of cloning, and can be negated pretty well completely if the cloner's upgraded. the only ACTUAL requirement there is having an intact corpse, which you can negate by just pulling someone else's body out of the mourge and doing brain surgery.

Think of it as removing a tumor, you're not doing anything to make the thing you're removing it from better, but you're infact removing something toxic and cancerous. that's an exaggeration We have respawns for a reason. if you die, sucks to suck. Get good and don't die. it's very easy to survive if you know what you're doing, unless someone has their sights on you. the obvious solution wouldn't be to not have any way to come back to life. that's a horrible Idea. just make it require more effort than "Magical clone machine that requires 0 effort"

On top of borg code being complete AIDs - which is probably why 1., and 4. hasn't been done. 3. is possible. 4. I'm pretty sure you can type succumb or something into the command bar, and it'll ghost you. Or this might be a "borg code is AIDS" dealio. 5 . that's a bit of a balance thing. though I think it'd be a neat idea. 6. Drones shouldn't have names. allowing them to change flavor text as is is kinda off to me. 7. Normally you should be using the flash anyway, but I agree that the baton shouldn't use as much power. or perhaps have it's own power value. the taser is fine to me.

[Withdrawn] Developer Applocation: Pacmandevil
Pacmandevil replied to Pacmandevil's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Feel free to fix it yourself anytime you need. I think it reflects my coding skills accurately. it would only serve to lower the quality of this applocation otherwise.
