  1. They used to have rubbers at roundstart, and I still don't know why that was changed. as lethals actually detract from the self defence aspect of it.
  2. I still think that Xenobotany and Botany could me merged without much loss. fuck you could probably put the Xenobotany lab directly underneath the Hydroponics lab. Botany is easily automated by robotics five minutes in, and is frankly boring to play even disregarding that little tidbit. While Xenobotany is for the big brain boyes who actually have fun.
  3. Falling down a hole while mining doesn't happen if you have literally more than two brain cells. fuck I've played SS13 while eating Pizza while mining, and have never fallen down a hole. it isn't hard.
  4. Objectively false. they justify the existence of several game mechanics. Psychologist before was 150% useless, and had no mechanical reason to be on station. (Yes, we're an RP server. no, RP does not justify having a useless job on station) Brain damage before was fucked. there was no actual impact to it asides from a headache, and suddenly smashing their head against an airlock. which was arguably less RP friendly than them sounding like a retard. And where the flippity floppity fuck is the hoarde of people advocating for believably now? The current traumas system may not be realistic, but is sure as hell more believable than someone acting perfectly normal other than smashing their head blindly against shit. And heyo - you know what removing this would do? Make psych useless again, and brain damage. if you're removing something important - like brain damage. it needs a replacement. going back to "unga bunga smash head against airlock despite acting fine lol because talking like you have brain damage isn't hrp!1" isnt an option. No, it's to make brain damage less (more?) retarded. as said, "ooga booga smash haid against aiewalocks!1" was fucking stupid. wow lol it's almost like spawning a cat, sending it to the station, then controlling it. whew, that's not a gimmick at all, or obnoxious! good point!
  5. I prefer ghost roles to respawns in about 99% of cases for classical ss13. but they should not be things that influence station activity for the most part. there's already a 20 minute respawn, just go tab out and take a duce or something and come back with a new character.
  6. you're effectively ruining the theme of the gamemode. it'd be better to replace it with one that fit the theme of the server better, if that was the case. it'd be like if cult could dress up as anything but a blood cult. it fucks the theme of the gamemode.
  7. I've been dicking around with combat changes for a good while now - including a system based on weighing your RNG. which was fucking horrible. For multiple reasons. * A pain in the ass to fight against, there's often no visual indication of RNG swinging effects, making it feel unfair that this lad just dodged your shit. * Unrewarding to fight with - weighing your RNG is one thing you need to do, then click things. Lockons also seem like a clunky mechanic here. and probably shouldn't be a thing effecting how much damage you do. if lockons exist for aurora, they should be automatic for a period of time, based on the last person you hit, rather than having to Initiate it manually, which would be clunky, without any clear bonus to it. The issues provided could be changed easily, as well - without changing the entire thing into a more clunky, more RNG influenced system. The Captain assassination? You can already cut their throat, and a back stab mechanic would be *extremely* clunky, considering that there's only four directions, and that you'd manually have to initiate a lock on, or just moonwalk out. neither of which sound fluid. - along with the fact that the captain would probably be pretty fucking suspect of a lad walking behind him anyway. it's ss13. you have 360 vision (which won't change on aurora for a variety of reasons.) 13th Crusade for example has lockons, but the only combat related purpose they have is to keep your cone of vision on target. and don't provide any non visual bonus. Adding RNG to things that aren't represented visually is a shitty idea, end of story. The intent hot swapping thing is also fairly shit, as you're just discouraging help intent in general - there's literally no benefit to it. Everyone would just be walking around on grab intent. TLDR: reeeeeeee
  8. At this point you might as well rip out wizard entirely, and replace it with the technomancer shit from Polaris. Wizards are inherently supposed to not fit in with crew. they're fucking wizards. that cast magic.
  9. >make ERT even more of an instant win button and encouraging vault raiding for OP validhunting shit pls no
  10. it'd be trivial to throw Armour values on gloves. just port the riot ones from Polaris. But having weaknesses is hardly a bad thing.
  11. >playing the hero and teleporting muh corpses instead of doing research >scientist >>doing your job
  12. traysheilds or bust
  13. >>>>telescience powergamer saying telescience is fine
  14. pressure would still cuck them pretty bad I'd think, Arrow.
  15. Pretty sure VORE has snowflake code for hugs based on the target area.
  16. This is more an issue with points being defined for the output instead of the input - TG's doesn't have this issue, as science can come down and get useful shit. When mining actually had to go talk to science for shit - they simply never got shit. that's just how it was. you'd be harder pressed to get a blue haired person convinced that there doesn't need to be 102941 legally identified genders. "b-but p-pacman! y-you don't even play!1!" Yep. and we haven't had mining 100% reliant on science since exodus. and *even then*, you could still get by without them due to the "It's not a mech lol it's better" RIG suits.. The probable best way of doing this - is keep the medium tier shit in the vendor, eg: KPA with no upgrades, diamond pickaxe - things like that. which don't nullify the point of it altogether. and throw the REAL high end shit. like the 3*3 mining upgrade, and diamond drill in science. (The 3*3 upgrade is in science on tg, and it's split in two. fowl pls). RIGs can be turned into a coathanger abortion and it'd still be better for the game. they're just power-trippy mechs without the disadvantages.
  17. Telescience is inherently one of those things that aren't RP'd out, and are only used for "ung bung recover x corpse lol who needs a paramedic", and the "Barrier to entry" is just knowing some 10th Grade math, and figuring out the offsets. I've been meaning to make it mematicly more in depth, but I've both been lazy, and working on other projects.
  18. Just make it raise body temp ezpz
  19. Alright, local shitcoder here to drop hot truths. Gangs as a gamemode is 100% incompatible with aurora in every single fucking way like what. even by my standards this is a stupid idea, and I was the dumbass that added firing pins. the literal only server gangs has ever worked, HRP, LRP, or otherwise, is Goon. which as always, is completely different than TG's coat-hanger abomination of an implementation. And that's also MAJORLY dependent on the theme and general community of the server, which on goon. is actually having fun. And revs as a gamemode is shit, yes - there's no goal or objective a bunch of the time, and there's blatant valid hunting by security - which I doubt has changed much from when I actually played. But there's ways of fixing everything. if the theme behind a gamemode is shit. and doesn't fit into the lore at all (which it doesn't in this case) perhaps it'd be a decent idea to revisit the idea of mind control, or perhaps a fully syndicate funded situation. Instead of just going "hey we're taping on the synidcate affiliation because someone wanted to "fix" the game-mode by taping on a "no u" announcement system."
  20. Completely false, it just requires a magical thing called skill. There's several guides to doing it, and I used to do it all the time when I actually played at around 1300. If you want a hint, use a multitool.
  21. Adding a box or two to the RD's office is probably the best way to go about it. Though when I shitcoded them, I didn't intend for them to be all that expensive at all from cargo - at least not the stock standard ones.
  22. If cloning is an issue. perhaps rectifying the actual issue instead of throwing a substanceless, annoying bandaid on it would be better.
  23. Perhaps if we get a persistant economy eventually have it tie into that, to be able to put bounties on people you dislike. "unga bunga muh realism" - it's not like there's going to be actual uses for money otherwise, might as well make it a metacurrency so people have reason to want it ICly.
  24. If Xenobotany doesn't have one already, a chemmaster would be useful. not the MACHINE FOR CHEMS, but the machine to separate it.
