  1. I do understand, yes. I'm fine with this being thrown out in that regard, I wasn't aware there was a difference. Sorry. @ReadThisNamePlz
  2. My goal wasn't to completely shut down the antag, I had no intention of acting further after the magic missle, and I assumed the Ninja would be able to get up and teleport or stealth away to continue RP elsewhere. I had no idea that the wizard was going to do what he did, and I will say that it was pretty cheap. While I won't deny that what I did shut down the hostage situation, I only did so with the IC understanding that this Ninja had been lethal and hostile towards security, which it even mentioned over radio that it had been non lethal to security and would no longer be so, so from an IC perspective it was thought that this was only being down to continue harm, which it was my character's goal, at the time, as a character who is very staunchly against harm coming to others, to prevent. I didn't even know there was Ninja's in the round before I was given the powers, they were really dropped right in my lap through RP by the Wizard, as the Wizard had specifically come to seek my character out for RP reasons. My intentions of getting the powers IC was "I can use this to help the Trinary Perfection church and keep my people safe", and not at all to be valid hunty. I do feel bad the way it turned out, I even apologized in AOOC too as it was not my intention to shut things down completely. I knew they wouldn't be able to cuff him due to the hardsuit, so I was very confident that he'd be able to escape and instead continue things at another time.
  3. BYOND Key: Hepatica01 Staff BYOND Key: NurseKitty Game ID: b6o-doF7 Reason for complaint: I believe I was unfairly given a warning for something that is done incredibly often in a slightly different, if not MORE dangerous manner and is rarely if ever punished, because it makes no sense to punish it. What happened was: I was in a round of Ninja and Wizard. I had been made an apprentice early on, along with others. My character, Salvation, is a missionary of the Trinary Perfection, and as such cares deeply for the synthetics. She often goes out of her way to ensure security synthetics are alright in the event that they are faced with a serious threat. While she was speaking with Pulsar, a security officer IPC, a call came in that the Head of Security had been taken hostage by the Ninja. The two went to the location, at the main elevators, near the front of the brig, and Salvation was told by Pulsar to loop around and cover the flank. Salvation went around after calling for the Wizard to come by as well, and got behind them. At this point, my character had learned magic missile, which given she had to learn it from the book instead of it just being a staff which she might not know what they do exactly, it could be assumed that Salvation would know exactly what the spell did and it's effectiveness. So, knowing it would be a near instant knock down on the Commander and the Ninja, Salvation yelled out that she would defeat this evil man, at which point they turned to look at her, and she unleashed the magic missile, instantly knocking the two down before anyone had a chance to react. After the two were knocked to the ground, the main Wizard walked up and turned the Ninja into a dog, completely stripping him of all his items. Once this happened, I was contacted by Nursie in the form of an ahelp to say that what I did was wrong, and I was promptly given a warning as a result. Here is my issue with this ruling: An uncountable amount of times, both IC and in real life, have flashbangs been utilized in hostage situations to allow Security to rush in and deal with the threat while keeping the safety of the hostages in mind. If anything, flashbanging that situation would have been more deadly due to the unadjustable timer on a flashbang IC, which would give time for the hostage taker to react. This is not the case with magic missile, you have MAYBE half a second to react as it comes out before it floors you. It was a completely safe action to take which resulted in the safety of the Commander. My idea was that without further acting on the Ninja, he would be able to do whatever afterwards, and as I had made no collaboration with the main Wizard on their act of polymorphing them into a corgi, I had no idea that was going to happen. Just as well, the person who turned them into a corgi didn't get so much as a bwoink, but I got a warning out of it, which I would like removed from my account. I dispusted with Nursie what I said above, to which she replied "then i can assure you that we've absolutely contacted people over it. regardless, your actions were not dissimilar, and that's the issue here. you put someone in grave danger by rushing someone with a hostage." She even admits that my actions were not unlike flashbanging, and yet suddenly it's an issue? I didn't even rush anyone, I stop, yelled out two different things, and used magic missile, at which point MULTIPLE people converged on the situation. I have never, ever, ever heard of anyone getting in trouble for flashbanging a hostage situation, and even confirmed as such after asking a multitude of people who play security often. Evidence/logs/etc: Additional remarks: I would have had more logs for this, but of course my game crashed as I was trying to go through it. I am not asking for anything more then for the warning to be removed from my account, as I think it is completely unfair.
  4. Lawyer up and hit the gym bro. Only solution. Reclaim what is yours brudda
  5. Peppermint's roleplay ability is top notch, and her character's are excellent in their backstories, how they act, as well as their difference from one another. I believe there's no reason she shouldn't have an IPC whitelist, as someone who has RP'd with her many times, there's not a doubt in my mind that she would be capable of role playing a wide variety of IPCs with great success, and would bring plenty of good character building to both her characters as well as others. Easy +1
  6. I couldn't +1 this hard enough. You can only run from one side of the station to the other and back so many times trying to deal with a wizard who just keeps teleporting away the second they so much as see you before you want to blow your brains out. It literally plagues deadhour rounds and all a wiz has to do, which they have plenty of times, is go lich and it's GG for the deadhour station. It never gives good RP, it's never fun to deal with, and it's never satisfying to win against, because it took two hours of running around maint with them teleporting constantly before you finally get a sneak tranq dart on them. And even then they still get a get out of jail free card unless you meta knowledge their robes off or they tell you their robes are the source of their power. The only way you can reasonably take off their clothes is if you get them to the brig and try to get them in orange jumpsuits, but good luck getting them more then a few steps before they teleport away and uncuff themselves. God awful gamemode that isn't worth the 1% of time it MIGHT be enjoyable.
  7. +1, no reason they shouldn't have the whitelist. They're a great roleplayer, and everything positive that's been said above I agree with
  8. I don't really know how to quote @The Stryker so hopefully answering it like this will be okay! "It seems a little strange to me that Brick's own maker would see it as too expensive to repair while Idris would quickly purchase and re-activate the machine. Aside from wanting to cut losses, is there any reason that Hephaestus would not simply repair the bot and put it back into service?" I do admit even I considered this the shakiest part of his story. However, in my mind at least, the idea behind it was that Hephaestus probably gets it's bots damaged often enough with how many they produce if I'm understanding Hephaestus lore right, and maybe has a set amount of $ they're willing to spend on repairs per robot, since eventually the repair cost would be pretty high. If that's stretching it a bit much, that leads into the next question- "Additionally, the roboticist seems to be a big part of Brick's backstory, but what about the official who purchased it? What other influences did Brick have? Does Brick still keep in touch with them? (If this is something that you'd rather show ICly, no need to answer in detail.)" the Idris official was meant to be a very, very wealthy one, I did a poor job of conveying that it'd essentially be chump change for him, not literally of course but you know. The official was more so just scouting for potential IRU/ISU recruits, and wasn't meant to be a super huge part of Brick's backstory, BUT it is actually going to be a thing shown a bit ICly. It was more focused on his relationship with the roboticist with the Official being another player in his life but nothing really major. And yes! Brick is checked up on by him from time to time to ensure his money wasn't wasted, which, just for the sake of answering the question since I don't really mind talking about it, their relationship is a sort of Brick sees them as almost a grandfather like figure, while the official couldn't really care less about him outside of making sure his money was well spent. "Love the insight here." Thanks a bunch! And thank you for the questions! It's great to hear from you, Stryker
  9. BYOND Key: Hepatica01 Character Names: Klementine Kuznetsov, Zoya Kuznetsov, Jane Kanvers, Annika Richards Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Dark Red Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I have read the lore page many, MANY times over the years, and just reread it before posting this to make sure I wasn't messing anything up lore wise. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Put plain and simply, IPCs interest me far, far more then any other race currently on the server. While I have absolutely nothing against the other races, nor the people who choose to play them, I personally have always been keen towards robots in real life, which naturally influenced me to want to make a whitelist for IPCs. After playing a heck of a lot of roboticist over the years, I've seen dozens and dozens of IPCs of varying types and personalities. I've seen the possibilities first hand, and already have a variety of interesting ideas I believe have quite a bit of RP potential. On top of this, the lore for IPCs is phenomenal. I fully believe that, at the advent of robotic creation, it would go near identically to how it is stated in lore, with corporations practically becoming completely reliant on a robotic work force, before the resources to create such a workforce started to deplete. The idea of massive, sprawling scrapyards filled to the brim with the discarded robotics from the era is just an awesome visual to imagine, and even gives me ideas for certain patchwork-esque robots (Not necessarily IPCs) made from parts scavenged from just such scrapyards. IPC lore has always interested me, but I've never felt like I had the RP ability to properly play one. I still am not completely certain, but I would love the chance to try, hence why I'm finally applying for such a whitelist after years of wanting one. All in all, I think there is an incredible amount of character diversity that can be done with IPCs that I, personally, don't believe any other race can achieve. I already have a multitude of ideas for a variety of different IPC characters with a wide variety of differing personalities between them. It's my hope that, should I receive an IPC whitelist, I can do the race justice through meaningful RP and character interactions. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Well, I believe there are a multitude of different answers to this question specifically depending on the type of IPC, so I'll try to go over everything. Starting out, IPCs can range from nearly identical and indistinguishable from humans (Hence, untagged Shells) to extremely robotic in nature. This leads to a significant disparity in how you can play one IPC to another, which is somewhat similar to humans, actually. Given that it was humans who created the positronics, I believe that being the case makes perfect sense, as IPCs are stated to sometimes be a product of their environment. For example, let's say an extremely xenophobic Necropolis roboticist creates an IPC meant for military application. While it's learning, perhaps it overhears the roboticist constantly talking about how much it hates alien life, how evil alien life is. It wouldn't be surprising, then, if that IPC came to hate aliens and see them as evil. This is very similar to how humans can develop. However, that being said, even the most human of the IPCs are vastly different from humans in a variety of ways. A human can handle an ion rifle without a second thought, while an IPC would see that and would likely be extremely weary given that their number one priority is often self preservation. While on the flip side, a human would (ideally) be fearful of running head first into, say, tear gas, while an IPC could charge head first in knowing it wouldn't be effected. I believe situations like these, among many others, are where IPCs really shine in their RP. Character Name: ISU-Brick Brick was originally designed for construction work, created by Hephaestus as a massive Second Generation model meant for heavy duty lifting and dangerous work. As it was a construction bot, there was little need for a programmed personality, or even much in the way of intelligence, simply being able to do as it was told was more then enough for it's line of work. One day, however, a large steel beam crashed down on top of it in a workplace accident, damaging it heavily. Not wanting to expend the large amount of resources it would require to be repaired, Hephaestus decided to cut it's losses and sell what was left of Brick. At the auction, a wealthy Idris official purchased the G2 after a quick negotiation, bringing it back for the roboticists at Idris to fix up for their ISU program. There, Brick was tended to for quite awhile, his positronic being the first thing to be repaired. When Brick's positronic came back online, the roboticist was fascinated by how "simple" the unit was, and how it would often mimic things the roboticist said or did, yet due to some minor instability would repeat it in a technically correct, but made little sense practically. For example, when the roboticist had shocked himself on a loose wire in Brick's arm, he shouted out, "Agh! This pain in the ass arm!", which prompted Brick, after a moment of analyzing, to repeat; "Yes, Unit's arm is: hurt donkey." The roboticist adored this quirk, and opted to leave it in after ensuring it would cause no real issue. The two bonded during Brick's repair, and as a result the roboticist spent quite a lot of his time talking to Brick, teaching him various things so that it could better function in it's new role. As such, ISU-Brick was put into action, where it has happily served for close to a year, often visiting the roboticist when it has down time, for maintenance and to catch up. What do you like about this character? I love his little quirk most of all, but I also love the idea that he is rather "stupid" for lack of better term, but has grown from being almost completely machine-like, next to no personality, to learning somewhat from his roboticist, as well as developing the quirk from his accident. These things causing him to gain his own unique personality, somewhat, while still staying true to his original programming of being rather simple, at least compared to other Idris units. While he certainly isn't as simple as he once was, thanks to his relationship with his roboticist as well as Idris training programs he would have downloaded, I'd say he'd be a perfect heavy shock-troop type of ISU, in contrast to the finesse that would be shown by many IRUs. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I have a really hard time answering questions like this. I've RPed for a very long time, in various different settings, from SS13 to pen and paper RPs (like DnD), and in an effort to actually answer the question, I would say I'm, on my best day, above average. There are plenty of times where I falter, especially in high stress situations, and RP falls to the way side somewhat, but I often try my best and hopefully that's what counts. Notes: Robo man good
  10. Chugged two bottles of vodka within 45 minutes and didn't even get tipsy. +1
  11. Wonderful person, fully deserving of the whitelist. They have great role play ability, and everything everyone's said above me is spot on. It's always a pleasure to see them playing, and fun to interact with them IC and OOC. Easy +1 from me.
  12. Mel is one of the absolute best people I've met on this server. She is kind, compassionate, and an amazing, well rounded roleplayer who does a wonderful job interacting with anyone who tries to RP with her. That aside, her mechanical ability is top notch, multiple times on multiple characters has Mel saved my life with her medical skills, some of which I was almost certain to be dead. She has an extensive knowledge of medical and it's workings, has the respect and friendship of most if not all who come through medical daily, and I couldn't think of a better person for the position. She works well under pressure and I firmly believe she can definitely handle the stress that comes with a Command role. I've seen, first hand, Mel prove herself as interm CMO plenty of times, as I'm sure anyone who was around for the shifts can attest too. All in all, a perfect fit for the role of CMO proper, I'd say it's a no brainer. +1
  13. One of the best people in the community IMO, a great person, roleplayer, and certainly deserving of a whitelist. I've RPed with them on countless shifts, and I'm always happy to see them around. They RP a variety of different characters incredibly well, and I have no doubt in my mind they'd do the same as a Skrell. +1
  14. Kyres man bad. He poisoned our water supply, burned our crops and delivered a plague unto our houses!
  15. Bear was the first friend I made coming back to the server, and has been someone I treasure ever since. He's a genuine, kind, understanding individual who would be a grand fit for the moderator team. I agree with most everything said about him in this thread, and as was stated by others, we could always use more low-pop staff members. +1
  16. Amazing roleplayer with an excellent understanding and adherence to the species' lore of the character they are playing. Good person all around and definitely deserving of any whitelist. They'll do great. +1
  17. +1 Fun to roleplay with, good characters from what I've experienced, and agree with pretty much everything said above. They'll make a great Command staff member for sure
  18. I haven't had many rounds with Uaine in command, however, judging based on their other characters as well as my interactions with their command character, I believe they will make a good addition to the command staff team. They are a good RPer, have good characters, and from what I've seen are quite good at the mechanics side of the game, which I believe is obviously quite important. Command is role in which, no matter what you do, some one is going to disagree with how you handled a situation, and I believe they have the maturity to not lash out at criticism but instead to talk things out and admit if they've done something wrong, which is important for literally everyone, but especially Command where mistakes are more impactful on the round as a whole. +1 from me
  19. I've seen Darkstar's HoP in a few rounds, they play the role well and how you'd expect an HoP to play, not playing as some sort of secondary captain or interm HoS when there is none, which I've noticed a select few HoP's have quite the problem with. All in all, he deserves the whitelist more then some who currently have it, without even having to mention his good RP ability. I stand by my +1
  20. Agreed completely, I'm pretty dumb when it comes to mechanics and the actual numbering on things in code or w/e, but I DO know that putting an entire taser or magazine of .45 rubbers into someone and STILL having to stunbaton them down is crap, not to mention feeling like you're doing anything against antags with the Laser Rifle, despite the fact that it is an extremely pain in the ass weapon as, while it has 15 shots, it still needs to be recharged via one of the extremely limited chargers around the station. Given that those 15 shots don't do jack most of the time... not good.
  21. +1 In just one round with Peppermint's command character I, and anyone watching, could easily tell she is a wonderful fit for a Command whitelist. In what was even an extremely hectic round for civilian staff, let alone Medical or Security, Peppermint, as CMO, skillfully handled any and every issue that came Medical's away, even with such a small medical staff that shift. They RP'd their character well, did a fantastic job overall, and I think most if not all of medical on shift that round would back me up in saying so. I saw them in command positions previously and they were always on point, great in the role they chose both mechanically and RP wise. I have no reason what so ever to think things will not be the same this time. I hope she gets the feedback she deserves on this application, and that it gets passed once the trial is over, as I believe we are in quite the need for certain command slots at certain hours.
  22. Nothing I can say that hasn't already been said, good RPer, have seen him interm plenty of times very successfully. +1
  23. I think Peppermint would do great in a command position. She plays great and interesting characters, and has done well in command roles in the past. Peppermint is a wonderful roleplayer, and very skilled mechanically. She would certainly make a great fit for a command whitelist. On top of her RPing ability, it would be good to get more command staff in general, especially considering dead hour. Can't think of many better for the spot, +1
  24. Thank you everyone for the feedback, I have put in a request to have my whitelist application withdrawn, as I do not believe I should have one.
  25. sorry, I should have specified a few things, and made the relationship between it's Owner more prevalent in the story. The idea behind it attending classes instead of downloading the data was I thought it would be easier on Owners wallet, essentially, which I should have made clear. Instead of splurging on the databases, allowing it to learn naturally while still keeping up it's bartending job. As for the frame, which I also should have specified, I was thinking a Bishop frame. In fact, the idea was that the Owner went a bit above and beyond to make CEREBRAL look good as opposed to putting extra money into it's databases. For saving up, I meant to specify CEREBRAL was allowed to keep half of the tips it got. This all goes back to not fleshing out the Owner part in the back story, as the idea in my head was that the Owner didn't have all that much money, which is why he made CEREBRAL in the first place as an extra source of income. Sorry, that is my mistake, I'll do it over if you want, or make a new character or something. Thank you to everyone who has given feedback so far!
