  1. Eh, I am split on this. When I use the Parapen, it is either bc security is onto me and I need a distraction, or for kidnapping. Knock em out drag them to a sublevel then go from there with RP. Usually ends pretty well. I dont like having to talk to someone the entire time while you are in their vicinity, a short knoxkout isnt that bad. On the other hand, I know that just bc I do it the way I do it does not mean that others wont use it for an easy kill, so replacing it with sopo is understandable
  2. BYOND Key: Roostercat12 Character Names: Take a guess at what my favorite species is right now. Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character: (Color of your character; Dionaea & IPCs exempt) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: IPCs are the next thing on my list of stuff I want to experience, Their wide variety of personalities, from stone cold AI that is purely analytical, to shell who is creepily good at appearing human in speech, very much Intrigue me. There is a wide variety in what they can be which I appreciate immensely, From crate pushing Industrial bots, to Pharmaceutical androids who are fragile and explore medicine, to a Roboticist robot that builds more robots. There is a wide variety of what your IPC can be and it is mostly up to you. They are not bound to a specific code or general way of acting like a Vaurca obeying their Queen ( Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, hell, I play Vaurca the most), and can have a variable culture and backstory. The only exception being Self Preservation protocol. I want to play IPC because things are getting a bit boring, and I am looking for new ways to shake up my RP experience. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Despite some IPCs pretending to be human, there is a long list of things that differentiate an IPC from a Human, both mechanically and lore/RP wise. Firstly, no matter how human they may look( IF they are a shell), they will always be discriminated against. Most species this is fairly up to the player on being a racist but IPCs tend to experience it the most from what I have seen, ESPECIALLY with Dominians. Second, despite being flaunted as durable, they fucking MELT to lasers. And thus I consider them to be much weaker than humans in that respect, despite their slight resistance to brute. They need suit coolers instead of oxygen tanks as well, which can make EVA complicated. RP-wise, There is a WIDE variety of things you can do with an IPC. You can be the AI that happens to have a body, always analyzing and theorizing, basically a stationbound that isn't a stationbound. The hardy G2 Warden that is very good at cataloging and keeping track of things, or the walking television in the corner who is incredibly socially awkward due to a lonely backstory who happens to also know advanced chemistry. The variety of IPCs is amazing and personally my favorite part about them. But the MAIN DIFFERENCE between an IPC and any other species, is the self preservation protocol. This protocol changes everything, as Humans, Unathi etc. will sometimes be fully willing to die for a cause or to protect others... whereas IPCs will always get the hell out if they feel there is danger of deactivation. Meaning your best robo-friend could suddenly yakety sax it out of the room leaving you to the cult/mercenaries/Lich. There is no real option here, they will always run instead of fight if they think they will lose. Character Name: Crimson Please provide a short backstory for this character: Crimson was originally a special order, a wealthy Human on Biesel that wanted a sort of house servant that could follow orders to the letter, no questions asked. This Human was named Theodore Dent. Theodore was a very paranoid business owner who didn't trust others very much, and thus desired a servant that could do their job efficiently, but also have (mostly) confirmed loyalties. There was only one other criteria Crimson had to fit, they had to look and act as if they were human, and be charismatic all the while. This was for a multitude of reasons, chief being that Theodore often had Visitors, from family friends to business partners, and Crimson would be expected to show them around and care for them while they were visiting. The Human appearance is much more pleasing than a normal Baseline, which often offset people. So Crimson was built with the personality of a pleasant man who loved answering questions, and was ready to serve. Though despite the obvious lengths gone to make sure Crimson fit the Human-like persona Theodore had in mind ( Despite obvious flaws, like Crimson's tag and the various pinging noises he often made.), Theodore always referred to Crimson as "Robot", "Machine", or simply "Servant", should there be someone particularly uncomfortable around Robots in residence. Should a Dominian be present, Crimson was simply kept elsewhere, sometimes not even inside the Residence, but in a shed. The name actually ended up coming from Theodore's son, Jackson, who started calling Crimson by such a name due to the coloration of his hair. Crimson did have some quirks that, while Jackson adored, his father thought to be vile. One of these being Crimson's tendency to ask questions. They could be about anything, recent events, family, sometimes personal affairs for common guests. Some found this amusing, and were happy to oblige. Most found it horrible, and was often met by verbal, and sometimes physical, retaliation. The main problem with this is that any retaliation, for whatever reason, made Crimson more curious. The more they reject or try to change the subject, the more Crimson would press, only stopping once asked by his master or when Self Preservation kicked in, should someone get physical. This went on for a few years, day in and out, the process becoming more or less mundane. Crimson, an efficient servant, never got treated any better than from day one by anyone, except for Jackson, who could be considered Crimson's only true friend at the time. This cycle changed one day, when a particular guest arrived at the Residence. The usual happened at first, Crimson would welcome them inside, get them a refreshment, then proceed to give them a brief tour of the house while his master got ready for whatever they were there for. During this tour, the guest happened to notice Crimson's tag. Normally, this would not be a problem. But this particular guest forgot to mention a very important detail. They were Dominian. The guest was rattled at first, taken aback that this putrid machine was trying to show them around. They demanded to see the owner at once. Crimson simply explained that Theodore was not ready, and that was not possible ( Theodore made it clear that he was not to be disturbed by any means. ). Crimson instead offered to show them the next room. The guest immediately took offense and threatened Crimson to take him to his master at once, or else. Crimson still thought nothing of it at first, which is bad because this happened to peak Crimson's interest. Crimson bombarded the man with questions, which the man answered with a degree of hostility, always ending each response with an insult. "Where are you from?" would be met with "A place not tainted with the likes of you, you soulless automaton." And so forth. This continued for a time with the guest getting ever more hostile before Crimson finally held off after receiving a threat from the man, who happened to have an energy pistol, concealed. Crimson took this threat seriously and immediately shut up. The guest ended up taking this the wrong way, accusing Crimson of thinking he is the better of the two, and that is when they finally had enough. Crimson was blasted in the neck region twice, and once in the left eye before the guard managed to tackle the man. Crimson was functional, but barely, as his voice synthesizer was badly burned and his left eye was completely blackened, some of the synthskin melted off. Repairs were made, but Crimson's appearance was altered forever. Crimson now had a consistent voice malfunction, a static that made it sound as if he was talking through an old timey radio, completely dropping the Human persona Theodore had desired for his servant. To make things worse, Crimson's left eye was unable to be fully repaired, and although it functioned fine, was blackened. Save for a small white dot acting as the pupil. This distraught Jackson, and enraged Theodore who, despite pressing Vandalism charges on the Dominian, still shifted most of the blame onto Crimson. That paired with his new voice and eye problems, and Theodore had had enough of his loyal servant. Much to Jackson's dismay, Crimson was sold to a company that rents IPCs out to various customers. Crimson was mostly put onto service-related jobs. Bartending, Waiter, etc. Though he never stayed long due to most people not finding his new appearance and sound very appealing. This carried on for a good while until one day A certain Mega-corporation was looking for new service staff... What do you like about this character? I enjoy how Crimson was made for a specific purpose but still had some quirks and ended up getting re-sold after an unfortunate situation, I also like that I purposely put a lot of details in, Such as other characters, which I plan on using when people ask about Crimson's voice and eye when they read his Flavor Text. I can make a lot of things Crimson does in game tie in with his backstory, such as his charismatic attitude due to how he was built to be a house servant/tour guide, Or his distrust in Dominians or those with basic biases( Which yes IPCs should be wary of Dominians regardless but I mean he REALLY dislikes them.) I plan on Crimson wearing a nice suit most of the time to tie in again with the house servant role he used to fill, in which he was usually forced to dress nice and thus got used to it. Notes: *buzz
  3. So is this just dead now
  4. I like it, it gives the station a job dedicated to upgrading and probably building maint bars. Gives researchers time to do circuits or mad science or whatever they do with their free time.
  5. Every cult round I have died in was via a sac rune. And every time there is zero interaction and no soul stoning either. I have bo problem with it going bye bye.
  6. Every character this mad man plays is played extremely well, I have no problems with him getting his whitelist back +1
  7. I started on yogstation. I am not even sure they know what RP stands for and I did fine. It is a good place to learn controls, robustitude, and a general feel for the game IMO. Has plenty of content and the community isn't completely vile.
  8. Understood, I will try not to do this again, or at least not regularly. Though the only time I remember doing this was once on a rev round, not multiple times.
  9. I will probably need the extension. Have not been able to get on the past few days and the days I AM on my slot is taken.
  10. They play Klaus Eliade very well, and have very believable characters in general. Another thing I appreciate is them not being afraid to contact people on discord to offer them feedback, like they did with my character. I am VERY confident they can pull this character off. +1
  11. Another Ninja round happened right after this post

  13. Something needs to change about gamemode probability. Exhibit A The sheer amount of Ninja rounds there have been recently have sucked the fun out of it for pretty much a lot of players. So much so that a lot of sec players have now opted to immediately cryo upon seeing it is Ninja. I have seen a normal traitor round ONCE this week. Every other round has been either Ninjas or Merc. This has sucked the fun out of basically a lot of players. Nobody wants Ninja 4 times in a row ( almost ), NOBODY. And I believe is the main reason a lot of people recently have taken a break. I suggest to make it impossible to have the same round type back to back unless it is voted. This way we wont have the travesty that is the screenshot above.

  15. One of my favorite things to do in this god forsaken game is screenshot random things people say over radio so I can take them out of context later. Feel free to do the same thing on this thread
  16. I may not recognize your characters, but this app shows a decent understanding of Vaurca lore imo, and the idea of a bug not accustomed to aliens with a damaged socket sounds interesting to me. Though some more explanation on what his beliefs are would be nice, like his belief in mother dream, which as far as I remember, has a belief in rising to new simulations instead of a VR afterlife. Other than that inconsistency (if it even is a inconsistency, I'm too lazy to check the wiki right now), Ima give this a +1.
  17. Same, only time I have seen any of those characters was Berg when a vamp Dominated me and told me to magdump her, and that is literally it.
  18. I believe that first part WAS one of my first cadet rounds as I remember seeing it and wondering what was going on before I was called to the HoS’s office. As for the question, I believe security’s goal in this game is to do three main things. One, give the antagonists a challenge. Antaggery would get stale super fast if the only opposition to them was some dude with a toolbox, so security tends to make them come up with a plan of action. Two, they keep players engaged and in the round. There have been many a time where I have had to drag someones unconscious body out of a combat zone for them to be treated and I am sure they would have been chilling in deadchat otherwise a lot of those times as well, and when antags are captured, we keep them engaged with things like interrogation, processing, general question asking before putting them in their cell. it is one of my favorite parts of the role when I get to hear them explain their actions or try to prove their innocence as it is never the same story. And third, most importantly, security exists to either create or roll with environments that encourage related RP, such as being die hard loyalists, or trying to stop a bar fight, or even just explaining to the bartender why he can’t lend the shotgun to people. All of those situations would be drastically different and more or less boring without security. Good security play, in my eyes, is giving antagonists a challenge to meet while still making their gimmick possible, such as trying to negotiate in a hostage situation rather than just baton rushing, as they have to come up with demands and a plan while security comes ever closer. Good security players are always active and communicating in situations and talk a lot to antagonists and victims and of said antagonists in particular. I feel I should also add what BAD sec players look like as well, Bad sec players are typically the kind that, instead of speaking or trying to resolve a situation peacefully, immediately pull out their flashes and batons and go a swinging, their ultimate goal is to win instead of driving the narrative. They are typically either silent or extremely aggressive when they talk and seem to show no emotion other than stone cold long arm of the law. They are the kind of people to cuff someone and drag them to brig despite the fact they are coming willingly, “just in case”. As for the last question, escalation is important to make sure that the gimmick situation an antag makes me isn’t shut down in twenty seconds. In a real situation police would not just barge into a hostage situation weapons drawn, they try to talk it out first and only move in if they feel the hostage is in imminent danger. Same thing applies here. Any given situation should be handled according to the threat. If the guy is not about to kill someone right then and there, always try to talk first, it won’t work, but the point is not to win here, it is to make a story, and making a story with no dialogue is difficult. Only break the .45s put when they are clearly about to do something very dangerous to station and crew. You wouldn’t start shooting people jaywalking and you shouldn’t start shooting the lunatic with K’ois straight away either. Sorry for the block of text, this is ALL on my phone
  19. BYOND key: Roostercat12 Character names: How long have you been playing on Aurora?: around 1 and a half years by now Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Playing just sec and sometimes researcher is getting boring, and the ability to play a command role and a Consular Officer, which is mostly what this app is for, would likely spice things up a bit. Why did you come to Aurora?: Heavy roleplay server that isn't quite known for shitmins, a good map, and a very interesting cast of races with deep lore. Also seemed easier to get into then Bay. ( it was) Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Aside from a bwoink every now and then, I have received no bans or anything like that. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is when you create a character and then use them to either drive a narrative or be part of said narrative. The main goal is to create a story, it doesn't have to be a good story, but a story nonetheless, and to partake in a fictional world on a more personal level. Roleplay allows for a whole new level of gameplay as well that is just not found on other servers, on some old LRP server, hostages are a joke, and pain is ignored, but In character? Those things become life or death as you pretend you are there for real. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The main goal of a head of staff is to drive the narrative and to co-ordinate their department. They make the round interesting via multiple ways, including being the boss™, organizing the station in times of chaos, and running along with gimmicks to ensure fun is had and roleplay is achieved. ICly, the goal of a head of staff is to run their department at top efficiency, and ensure the station in general is running, and looking at that all mighty bottom line. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The OOC responsibilities of a Whitelisted player are numerous, the chief ones being to be able to help new players into the game, creating or rolling with environments that encourage RP, and introduce fun situations that are intriguing for all involved. A Head of Staff coordinates the department and/or station, and is meant to be a help to the station, providing advice, giving orders, and protecting crew until they get turned into an antagonist. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Things for the Zo'ra are tense right now, with most lesser queens expanding and in need of resources, such as Zoleth on Caprice, And sources of income for these resources are needed. Thus a megacorporation such as NanoTrasen is sought after to be in good relations to make such sources possible, So the Zo'ra often send a Ta to increase relations on some stations, being the most politically advanced hive, In hopes of securing resources and making the Zo'ra hive look better in general. Ta'Akaix'Kuxkri'ax Zo'ra is one of these Ta, of whom was previously looking after young Vaurca, before being reassigned to handle relations with NanoTrasen, whom also have lots of phoron and means of making K'ois, and she was sent to one station in particular, The Aurora, which has quite a few notable Vaurcesian crew. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Consular Officer ( Which is mostly what this app is for. Mostly) Head of Security Maybe CMO Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Ta'Akaix'Kuxkri'ax Zo'ra - Consular Officer Jackson Vulip - Head of Security How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Solid 7/10, I can make my own story when needed, though am much more comfortable following along someone else. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yup. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yessirmanma'am Extra notes: I was going to apply for IPC, but ima wait for the shift of p o w e r

  21. The only medicines right now I have a problem with is Bicaridine and Peridaxon. Bicaridine because it is the magic bullet for IB and Peridaxon being the magic bullet for organ damage. Some drug should NOT be able to fix a popped lung. The only reason surgery is ever used now is because of fractures, shrapnel, or IPC surgery for damages. legitimately everything else can be fixed by some medicine and a syringe, which I feel is stupid. Though completely taking out Bicaridine's IB fixing is the wrong way, I suggest making Bicaridine delay IB, not fully fix it. Make it stop for, say, 2 minutes or so depending on the dosage. And as for Peridaxon, make it repair some organ damage, but have surgery required to fix all of it.
  22. Omari is always fim to see in a round, well rounded characters that are very memorable, +1 verified gamer
