I felt the immediate removal of your whitelist was necessary because I felt as if the very fundamentals of an IPC whitelist were being violated. Regardless of people's opinions of a character, it appeared to me as though this character, EMMA, was behaving inappropriately as an IPC. Sometimes, a whitelist application will not always tell someone's full intentions - not accusing you of having any ill intentions, but I bring into question your ability to roleplay an IPC. I will admit that more forward warning would have harmed nothing and perhaps benefited, but I will not back down on my decision to go with a strip. The behavior observed is just so tastelessly human. Over the next week or two, I'd like you to get into contact with me or Kyres and discuss IPC's and the status of regaining your whitelist.

I had time to read your compaint on my break. When I get off work in a few hours, I will come back and discuss your complaint.

[Accepted] Doggie666's IPC Application
CakeIsOssim replied to Doggie666's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
So I see you’ve only been around Aurora for a few months on your current ckey. Have you read many other wiki pages? Like that of Earth? Also, do you know about the many languages of the Orion Spur? Most old Earth languages were combined into larger languages, like Sol Common and Tau Ceti Basic. I’m just expressing some concern for your knowledge in other areas of the lore. -
[Accepted] Cairath's IPC Application
CakeIsOssim replied to Cairath's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
What do you mean by “without culture or prejudice” in the first question? Specifically, ‘prejudice.’ Also, which name is the IPC going by in-game? Because it can only be one of the two. -
[Denied] Sjogras's IPC Application
CakeIsOssim replied to Sjogras's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Application and attitude are very concerning for me right now. I do not doubt the RP potential here, but... I don’t know, you don’t really seem like you genuinely want this whitelist out of legitimate interest. I could be wrong, but you’re tearing it down with all these personal gripes, and didn’t even seem fully aware of all the small details. Are you genuinely interested in getting this whitelist? -
[Denied] AIMMO´s IPC Application
CakeIsOssim replied to A.I.M.M.O.'s topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Unfortunately, I do not really have much faith in your ability to uphold the standards of an IPC whitelistee, so I must deny your application. My opinion can change, if proven to me that you really do put forth the effort to be a creative and serious roleplayer with synthetics,. You can contact me at #Cake4863 on discord if you would like assistance or more information. When you feel you are ready, you may reapply. -
A little late, but I have been a lot busier than normal. Apologies once again for the delays [mention]Sparky_hotdog[/mention] Pretty much my only gripe at this point is that I question the validity of any AI naming itself without context. Like, Aqua naming itself Aqua after its original name was 4Q-U4 is fine, but its split personalities naming themselves the two halves coincidentally (and seemingly without context) seems a little strange. How does Aqua know what personality is needed the most at any given time? Are they extremely dominant personalities, or are they more akin to an ego/superego?

[2 Dismissal] On synthetic policies and regulations
CakeIsOssim replied to MO_oNyMan's topic in Rejected Policy
I wish people would stop making policy suggestions about things already on the list of things to do ;_; I will post a genuine reply soon. A day or two at most. -
Confidence is key. Subtlety is simple. And misinformation is your best friend. The AI cannot, and really should not even try, directly fighting crew without a sizeable force of armed cyborgs. Opt instead for subterfuge. Gain control before the crew even know it, and then use it against them. Sabotage resistance before it gains momentum.

While the lore and canonicity of the AI role is up to me, ultimately, its fate and place in the rules are up to administration. I will say, however, that for me personally, removing the AI role is out of the question. Whitelisting it is not, but I would really rather not whitelist the role. It has been said before but I'll say it again: bad AI behavior can be crushed under foot by simply taking the necessary information to the people who matter. Those people are the staff online on the server. This is the best solution currently in my mind. If nothing comes of it, and it's shown that the AI is just inherently validhunt enabling, I would consider taking further action.

Indeed, you have improved quite a bit since your last application. Congratulations! Application accepted. -
Indeed, your backstory may need some work. Synthetics as a whole are outlawed in Federation space due to the Glorsh Rebellion some 400-odd years ago. It'd also be a little strange to utilize the most expensive and advanced humanoid synthetic design (the Shell) for use underwater. It would be dramatically cheaper to refit any other chassis type. My advice would be to change locations to, say, the frontier on some randomly-named ocean planet, and also perhaps not make them a shell. The last part is really up to you but, like I said, the Shell is the most expensive and advanced form of IPC in the galaxy right now.

I enjoy the idea, but I'm not 100% sure about it because I would like to preserve the horror and shock value behind the hunter-killer. I would not be against this gamemode, but I'd be sad to see the HK used so often where it loses its value as a terrifying special antagonist.

[Denied] DeadLantern's IPC app
CakeIsOssim replied to DeadLantern's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
No. Before I even read the rest of the application, this was the dealbreaker. IPCs are not humans but metal. IPCs are barely even remotely 'human' in behavior, mainly in that they are developed by humans, programmed by humans, and manufactured by humans with a humanoid appearance. Their behaviors, mannerisms, and philosophies of the world differ wildly not only from each other, but from the humans that created them. Judging from the character backstory, I can also tell that you are not that well versed in the lore. This is fine, but not if you intend on achieving an IPC whitelist. Positronic brains have no method of sight, and though this is not reflected well in-game, canonically it is the case. Thus, a positronic brain could not read or watch TV without optics. The sheltered boy is also not given any real background to justify being able to program an artificial intelligence, but does so anyway. Additionally, the universe does not utilize dollars, and while it is nitpicky, I think it shows the level of knowledge of the lore. Galactic currency is measured in the Alliance standard credit. Credit where credit is due, I like the runaway robot story. It gives weight and meaning to the character, as well as a haunting background that could crop back up at any point in time, say, if their owner were to come looking for them? Unfortunately, that is not enough to salvage the application. This application will be denied, however I encourage you to invest yourself a little more into the role and creation of IPC characters. Interact with a few more IPCs on station, check out a few more lore pages other than the pages on synthetics. The BIGGEST hitter here was your idea on what makes roleplaying an IPC different from humans. Focus mainly on that, and why IPCs are not just metal humans. When you feel confident and comfortable enough, you may reapply and I will gladly check out your application again with excitement. If you have any questions or would like some assistance, you can contact me on Discord (Cake#4864). EDIT: There was a reaction image there, but I felt it was a little rude so I removed it. Sorry about that. -

Not quite satisfied with your description of what makes roleplaying an IPC different from a human. Yes, they are mechanically different in many ways - I already knew that, and I'm glad you have shown knowledge in how the species functions mechanically, but that is not the topic of the question. You then continued with how they differ mentally, but the concept presented is very vague. Their brains are computers, indeed, so they must function like computers. I want to know if you know how roleplaying the IPC is different from humans. This raises some alarm. What kind of sass are we talking about here? What does it mean to follow orders perfectly but without respect? Depending on what we're talking about here, I believe this would actually have the opposite effect in-game. And I want to address the possible issue of your personal opinions towards what you consider to be "absolute idiot" leaders/bosses seeping into your character. You even said it resonates with you, which already leads me to believe it's pretty much going to happen. I am not particularly fond of the idea of an IPC who regularly challenges authority because they do not agree with the authority figure for whatever petty reasons. I'm going to mark this as needing attention by the author until these queries are addressed. Please try to do so in the next few days. EDIT: Took out a nitpick because I misread. -
Sounds like a lot of power creep. The ion rifle does a ton of damage to synthetics of all kinds. It SHOULD be large and unwieldy. Same goes for sniper rifles, which ALSO do a ton of damage to people. I would not like to see this become a reality.

I do not recommend playing an IPC with ulterior motives as your very first IPC. A swell character idea (if done correctly), but unfortunately one I cannot support for a first-time IPC player. Personal opinions down, next up is business. The backstory, while I don't expect any backstory to be perfect, has some flaws I cannot overlook. They worked with, and were reprogrammed, by a roboticist who they didn't even know the name of? For the entire month they were there? If you don't want to include arbitrary names that only affect the backstory, that's fine, but writing it off like that is unappealing. My advice would be to either completely remove any mention of the roboticist's persona and just keep their actions and affiliations ("The name's not important."). And what kind of reprogramming are we looking at here? Also, as always, discretion is advised when playing canon criminals. Additionally, the name 'Augur' is already in use by another active player's IPC. In order for your whitelist to be accepted, you should take one of two actions: 1. Rewrite the backstory a bit. Only include the roboticist as a plot element. Perhaps change the IPCs name. Expand on important elements. OR 2. Use a different character for the backstory, flesh it out as needed. I'll be marking this as needing attention until then.
