  1. Ravna is an incredible, well realized character highlighting an aspect of Dominia so rarely seen. Bias aside, I think that there's no greater time to get this in game than now, since the server has yet to visit uniquely cold places such as what we've so far seen from Adhomai. Arguably Ravna's work in Engineering will lend itself to its use should she need to step in the server room or telecomms as well. +1
  2. Lately there have been a number of exceedingly lengthy posts within the complaints section, bordering on outright filibustering. What it ultimately results in is wasting the time of the admin team - a volunteer position - and in the worst cases, is a tool for bad faith actors with hope of exhausting the team and locking up the administrative process with additional bureaucracy. A complaint should be able to stand on its own with concise language; not long winded essays and rambling. I don’t think we have to be too severe on a character limit, but a measure should be introduced that promotes brevity, where someone can reasonably explain their issue, extrapolate on logs, and provide their perspective. Nothing more. A discussion beyond the first post can be dealt with via the replies. A character limit does not need to be mechanically enforced, so as to not affect the remainder of the forums. Instead, I think we only need to amend it to the rules section on every complaint board. The admins would know better what a suitable word count is, so I won’t try to play any guesswork at what might work best for them and the community.

  6. Hep did a great job communicating as their XO on a round where comms were being lost and there was an agressive technomancer +1
  7. While Bridge Crew are certainly a type and there have been a lot of bad apples as of late, I think just being more proactive about ahelping and IRing the problem characters should resolve the issue. If not, what we might also need is an announcement in the same vein as the Warden one.
  8. I think the gloves would make a great addition and I'd love to see them added. Just the aesthetic alone is cool enough to add further character to the station's crew. Generally I think the odd misplaced hatred of mute characters stems from difficulty in being able to freely communicate with them, as well as a cliche ss13 opinion.
  9. Personally I don't think we need to lose hydroponics. When there's a chef but no gardener, it's perfectly acceptable for Chefs to move the fridge and use the space themselves. Like Carver said, it's a chill role that doesn't demand a lot of your time and I think it's important we have these less intense or demanding roles as a HRP server. I don't frequent science and medical enough to comment on chemistry though. But, I don't really agree with the argument that these jobs have nothing to them or the only answer is to go to cryo. People should be willing to engage with roleplay outside of mechanics.
  10. Technically we already have a curator role, just not quite a way of showing it although I have seen a few adventurous players build loadouts around displaying objects of interest. However, I would be against losing the library in favor of it. If there's a way to get 1 or 2 display stands in there, that's fine. Or a another room anywhere else on the station becomes the museum. I also agree with Ping's suggestion. Maybe they aren't even real objects, but just holographic stills that depict either a historical figure, important CEO, item of interest or cultural item. All whatever the curator wants.
  11. Nakai was an incredible, memorable character that few forget. Even now, people still reflect upon the character icly, and I think that speaks leagues about limette's ability to write. I am excited to see what characters come about them having an IPC whitelist. An easy +1 from me.
  12. I never shared these here but in 2021 I roughed out a short comic featuring a moment between Brandon and Imperatritsa after running from Zavodskoi. If I were to finish this, I'd likely reboard it and smooth out the dialogue more, but the spirit of what I wanted to convey is there. Comic Roughs: Here's a snippet of some recent stuff made. And lastly as the year comes to a close, I wanted to post the round up of this year's content. I did a lot more painting outside of the Aurora not featured here, but as always, I appreciate each and every person who commissions me.
  13. I have not been able to attend the more recent events so while I cannot offer direct criticism on how they've been handled, I feel as though this thread embodies some of the concerns that I have felt towards the server's direction as of late. Personally, I feel as though what we lost by being a station has not been met or exceeded by being a mobile ship. When the server was the Aurora, we had the Aurora station asteroid, a larger nearby station (The Odin), a planet (Biesel) and a city (Mendel) that all offered a change of scenery and a way for characters to persist organically. The immediate world was very fleshed out and offered incredible variety to play, especially on the Relay. The nuanced way each character lived and how all felt uniquely different from one another. In being made into a mobile ship, I initially thought this would be a great idea. We get to not only see the many places that exist in the Aurora-verse but we justifiably have a reason for why the ship/station is always at the center of the world's conflict. However, I don't believe the direction of exploration has been met and we've lost a lot of flavour to the day to day experience of our characters. Personally I think a push towards exploration, which I could be wrong but always felt was the heart and soul of NBT, fitted with maps would make for an overall improvement moving forward.

  15. I could be wrong, as I cannot find any sources behind the meaning of Konyang University but with my knowledge of the Korean language, I get the impression that the name was built by taking the first part of health (건강) and the first part of Leading (양도) to more or less imply the transfer of health. It's a common practice to make words through this method, whether as slang or organization names. Personally, I don't mind the name Konyang. If we wanted to derive meaning from the name in lore, one could argue that the first settlers chose it as a core principle to take care of the health of their own or the planet in the same way we assign principles to a culture or country. Admittedly, and I am heavily biased in this regard, but I really like that Konyang is skewed towards Korean in terms of it's presentation. I feel as though we primarily see Japanese and Chinese media before we see Korean (and even less Southeast Asian) media. And as far as I've seen in terms of representation, there tends to be an even split between Korean and Japanese coded characters from Konyang. A few of the load items ie. all of the Konyanger Outerwear selections (Akira jackets) and the Traditional Konyanger Dress are Japanese influenced.

  18. CCIA Staff Application Basic Information Byond key: Niennab Character names: Z.I. Provenance, Khadija Al-Ashab, Gulrez, Z.I. Brandon, IRU-Sentiment, Aubrey Piper, Flotsam and Finley Greyson (as well as a few others that didn’t pan out as successfully as the names here). Age: 30💀 Timezone: GMT+2 What times are you most available?: Early morning low-pop to mid day medium-pop of the European hours. Experience How long have you played SS13?: Beyond a few rounds played here and there, I came back to playing SS13 in 2019 and have been playing since. How long have you played on Aurora?: Roughly 3 years. How active on the forums, discord and/or server are you? I tend to float around the synthetic channels but I am fairly active on the forums, discord and server. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: N/A Have you ever volunteered as moderation staff for any other servers, SS13 or otherwise?: I was the Synthetic Maintainer for about a year and six months. By being the maintainer I worked with players to solidify character concepts, built upon the lore and moderated whitelists and rule breakers. Do you have any other experience that you believe would be relevant to a position in the CCIA?: I think that generally my experience as a DM has offered me a broader understanding of balance when navigating narrative arcs and consequences. Although I think the above has more relevance. Personality Why do you want to join the CCIA?: I have always seen the CCIA as kind-of-DMs for the server when it comes to day-to-day matters which I find interesting. Lastly I think that CCIA would give me a healthy work/life balance when it comes to the server and my life outside of it. What do you think are the most important qualities for a CCIA Agent to possess?: I think that it is important for someone on the CCIA team to possess an understanding of balance when it comes to dishing out punishments. Sometimes matters are going to come up that may require restraint just as there will be issues that call for severe punishments. Knowing how to navigate this is crucial and as far as I am aware, the present team handles this swimmingly. What do you think the purpose of a CCIA Agent is in an ongoing round?: I believe that the purpose of a CCIA Agent is to help facilitate, but not hand-hold the on-station characters during any given round. Something that is easier said than done. What do you think the purpose of a CCIA Agent is outside of the server?: I believe the purpose of a CCIA agent outside of the round is to enforce the setting from a corporate standpoint. When it comes to Incident Reports, CCIA are by and large IC moderators. Ultimately, the CCIA enforce the more nuanced corporate dystopia of the Aurora setting. Arguably, although this might be a by-propduct of their existence rather than intended facilitation but, I think of Incident Reports and CCIA Agents as something that can offer the potential of an arc for a character. Consequences of Incident Reports make the world feel more alive and lived in. How do you handle stress?: I feel as though I have the necessary tools at my disposal to deal with any hiccups. Typically I’ll go for a run if I am feeling exceptionally stressed, as an example. How well do you work autonomously?: Once I know the parameters of my role, I can work autonomously. Additional Notes:
  19. I don't think there's any need. Ending a round should require a vast majority of people to want it for it to happen. If you can't or don't want to play anymore, just enter cryo. Moreover the rounds already become transfers on 50% at the 3 hour mark. There are players who will also vote in favor of the transfer with no intention of playing the next round.
  20. Can I get a verdict? @Haydizzle @Captain Gecko
