But it is not devs who decide the image of NT. It is us, indeed. And it is easy for us, as lore, to agree 'we cloaks.' Also, Tau Ceti is a melting pot. It'd be a waste for NT to not capitalize off other cultures.
-
As stated before, with the grace of one of Jackboot's ideas, I have offered to place an NT logo on the cloaks, and respecify them as something NanoTrasen has intentionally been selling in order to please workers from said cultures that would be wearing cloaks. Also, the Security cloak description is, yes, humor. It is a joke. Also, the cloaks are not a perfect seal. They open in the front. They do not hang tightly around the body. As someone who habitually wears jackets indoors (ask anyone i knew in high school, it's everyday bro), these would be not uncomfortable in a two-hour period.

ftr I don't think CMOs have a loyalty implant

Moondancer, although they are a disgusting cartoon horse, has always displayed a wide knowledge of robotics both ingame/lore and in real life. From their experience alone, I'd give this a +1. However, they have also always been extremely pleasant to work with and talk to, and I consider them very friendly. +1

If a meal plan card is going to exist in the loadout, it's going to reduce your starting money.

Raise Cargo Technician Slots By One
Snakebittenn replied to Snakebittenn's topic in Completed Projects
There's plenty to do if you put your mind to it. Collecting stuff from maint. Negotiating deals with the Merchant. Finding bounties above all else. Sorting the warehouse at a faster rate. Not to mention increased amounts of roleplay. As a cargo main, and as someone who has pestered other cargo mains about it, we've got plenty to do. It's just that with two cargo techs and a desk role there's not much manpower to do a lot. -
[Accepted] Uglyxeno's unathi application.
Snakebittenn replied to VUX's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
My name's ParadoxSpace and I'm here to say I support this application in every way (please clap) On a serious note, I've known OP since some early days on Polaris. While occasionally she can be a little testy and she's a very picky eater, I've always known her to be a good roleplayer and to play very unique and consistent characters. +1 -
I have disabled ERT on the Revolution gamemode because it never leads to a productive round. In my dreams, the ideal Revolution round involves both sides duking it out. Security at Command's whim, Command attempting to escape, the crew armed with chainsaws and medieval weaponry clashing against the bourgeoise. Except this never happens, because Command/Loyalists have a convenient 'I Win' button that can even be done via fax, silently in a maint tunnel somewhere, where no revs can find out.
-
Let's hop right in. First, this PR will disable ERT on Revolution. Admins will still be able to manually call it (because admins are all-powerful), however there will be a big-ass announcement like the Mutiny mode and events that signifies the ERT is currently handling other shit. Swiping will remind you that they are currently fighting space tentacles. Next, buffs the non-hardsuit ERT armor (those foam force linebacker vests.) They will have armor = list(melee = 65, bullet = 60, laser = 60, energy = 40, bomb = 40, bio = 25, rad = 25) and a slowdown of 1. This is up from armor = list(melee = 60, bullet = 60, laser = 60, energy = 40, bomb = 20, bio = 0, rad = 0) The helmet has 50 bio. It is my pipe dream that engineers and medics use this more, as the backpacks are convenient for their roles. Next, adds three guns to the ERT base. One dartgun with two magazines (intended for medics), two netguns (in the medic area), and one gravity gun (in the engineering area. Disables gravity in a small area.) This also takes away one machine pistol, replaces one box of flashbangs with tear gas, and adds one ion rifle. In all, gives ERT more non-killy options. Next, adjusts the hardsuits. The ERT Commander and ERT Soldier armor will be armor = list(melee = 60, bullet = 50, laser = 30,energy = 15, bomb = 40, bio = 100, rad = 100), an EMP Protection of 30, (25 for trooper) and a slowdown of 1. This is adjusted from armor = list(melee = 60, bullet = 50, laser = 30,energy = 15, bomb = 30, bio = 100, rad = 100). This will also give all ERT suits combat actuators, ftr. ERT Engineering armor is at armor = list(melee = 50, bullet = 40, laser = 20, energy = 15, bomb = 40, bio = 100, rad = 100), an EMP protection of 20, and a slowdown of 0. This is down from armor = list(melee = 60, bullet = 50, laser = 30,energy = 15, bomb = 30, bio = 100, rad = 100) ERT Medical armor is at armor = list(melee = 50, bullet = 40, laser = 20, energy = 15, bomb = 30, bio = 100, rad = 100), an EMP protection of 20, and a slowdown of 0. This is down from armor = list(melee = 60, bullet = 50, laser = 30,energy = 15, bomb = 30, bio = 100, rad = 100) J-ERT has been made immune to all damage, at armor = list(melee = 50, bullet = 40, laser = 20, energy = 15, bomb = 30, bio = 100, rad = 100), an EMP protection of 20, and a slowdown of 0. This is down from armor = list(melee = 60, bullet = 50, laser = 30,energy = 15, bomb = 30, bio = 100, rad = 100) Lastly, nerfs the ERT chemical dispenser. It will still have all basic chems needed to patch damage, and some starter chems to make additional ones, but no longer literally includes any possible chems you could think of, what the fuck. This also deletes the combat injectors, because on-demand oxy, synap, and hyperzine is a cancerous growth.

BurgerBB's Developer Application
Snakebittenn replied to BurgerBB's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Coders are not obligated to code for you. You need to learn to code yourself, this post sounded very entitled. Also, most of that was completely unrelated to Burger's application. -
[Declined] Lord Fowl Skrell Dev App
Snakebittenn replied to LordFowl's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I suppose this is the last thing I have. How will Skrell influence Tau Ceti and NT, since you said they view TC as a threat. also, what're you doing with the meme tup because. c'mon. -
[Declined] Lord Fowl Skrell Dev App

What experience do you have interacting with the skrell playerbase in recent months? If it were to expand, what would be your plan to communicate effectively with them? -
Now that your essay is out, and you've posted some well developed replies, I can finally go through this point by point. This is, in my opinion, one of the weakest parts of Skrell. They do not really have anything that qualifies as 'Skrellness' besides an inability to emote, an ability to swim, and noslip. None of these things really separate them from a mentally challenged human wearing galoshes. Yet, An inability to emote would work well if this were a LARP, or if we had anything remotely qualifying as 'graphics', but this does not work in a text based game. Their long lifespans are somewhat alien, yes, but it does not come up often besides 'Here's why I have more PhDs than chromosomes.' This is not necessary. Players will not care about things their characters weren't around for. How many Unathi can you successfully quiz about any previous Hegemony? This will reduce the impact of Glorsh too much, and nullify characters like mines who still have the actions, and voice, of Glorsh-Omega haunting them. and /especially/ characters you later mention that supported Glorsh. This doesn't really give Glorsh any impact either beyond being an average malf AI antagging at 1:45. This will do wonders for making the genophage irrelevant. Much as you cannot ask players to care about things their characters weren't alive for, you absolutely cannot ask players to care about things their characters won't be alive for. 2000 years is an insane amount of time, and is even crazier considering it will not actually fit in the operating time of Aurora. There's a reason that things happen very often very rapidly in-lore, and there's a reason (despite how much I hate it,) that most 'past' lore events only happened like 25 years ago. This is not very good, and is yet another thing that cannot really happen often. It's hard enough getting catbeast players to even talk about their home government/culture. Lastly, a question. What experience do you have interacting with the skrell playerbase in recent months? I have never seen any of your Skrell. If it were to expand, what would be your plan to communicate effectively with them?

Being as impartial as I possibly can be. While I enjoy the example in the OP, and while 'I think the addition of a few more details in regards to their advancement could not only flesh out the Skrell as a race, but create a richer lore for the universe in general.' is a great aim and goal (you'd probably be the best deputy in the loreteam), it is not enough in my eyes. While Skrell lore is very shallow in places, true, these places are more in their species' past, largely surrounding Glorsh Omega (praise be to His name). This microlore such as Skrell tech and the Unathi smuggling of it would be wonderful if only the bigger picture wasn't so crooked. Macrolore is what is required, not micro.

[Accepted] Jackboot Head of Staff Whitelist
Snakebittenn replied to a topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
If anything, that looks incredibly poorly on Fernando's play. Anyway. I happened to be in that round as heister. Jackboot is probably the most fair HoS I've seen. Any other one would've immediately leapt to lethals to deal with my team, but Jackboot insisted on talking to us/using nonlethal intent. +1 -
Additional Chems and Recipes (Drugs and Addictions)

Yet additional magical healing chems won't really do much for the state of medical. -
[Declined] Lord Fowl Skrell Dev App
Snakebittenn replied to LordFowl's topic in Developer Applications Archives
As someone who has been in proximity of Lord Fowl, and within even closer range of his lore, I have full confidence in him to undertake the daunting task of Skrell loremaster. His essays blend in seamlessly (as well as being reads that make me want to know a /lot/ more). A few questions for the sake of people that don't into Discord. What are your plans for Skrell mechanical clout? Will you be adjusting their species biology, and if so, what would you do? Will you be adjusting the relationship between the Skrell and our Tau Ceti? How? Will you be changing your somewhat tsundere behavior? I myself am aware that you are quite pleasant in moments of levity, but some take issue with your attitude. -
how 'bout just have the roboticist have to install actually major ones, and leave the loadout for useless shit like a holowatch embedded in your nuts or whatever

Make ERT admin spawn only until NBT comes out
Snakebittenn replied to Scheveningen's topic in Archive
Here's an idea. Remove the red suits and the military weaponry. ERT is now solely eng/med auxiliaries. -
[Retracted] DasFox's CCIA Application
Snakebittenn replied to TheSleepyCatmom's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
While initially I was supportive of this application (though it often slipped my mind to post said support), the recent weekban they have endured due to their failure to properly roleplay in an ERT environment has left me questioning if they are fit for the job. -1 -
I've had very positive experiences goofing about with the human genome/laws of nature with Ynnefer Killinski before, and the dog sprite is positively adorable. I'd love to see crew evacuate the dog ahead of themselves, in the vein of such loyal hounds as Ian. +1

I'm biased, but I'd rather something like Bay's system, especially in regards to >a surgeon cannot be a professional killer

Making a spear or pike really isn't that hard. Using a spear or pike really isn't that hard. Bucklers, sure, they're hard to make, but until you code forging mechanics, or until I'm stupid enough to put the shield fittings in the autolathe, you're folding it by hand. Shields aren't hard to use either. Even medieval peasants could do it. As someone who is habitually in the interest of forming militias, militias are often formed because Security never does an adequate job of actually protecting departments and the crew in a state of code red. Cargo has to become a safe house for the poor and disenfranchised while Security is off on some asteroid Z level following around mercs. And from an antag perspective, I'd rather fight two cargo techs, four miners, the chef, and Pun Pun than have a third party ERT take me out of the round. Hell, atleast the cargo techs ask questions first sometimes. Edit: Also, if these things happen enough, if you knew there was no Security or ERT, why did you go alone as a juggernaut anyway? A juggernaut is useless if not screened. This seems like an 'im ded pls nerf' thread.

Metabolism limiting based on chem type
Snakebittenn replied to BurgerBB's topic in Completed Projects
It is a difference of a few seconds. Nobody is going to remain in medical forever just because of this PR.
