AllyBearsley Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 (edited) Hello everyone, I'm here to let you guys know that the wiki is getting updated and the new wiki-maitainers are already working to fix up guides that need it. However, there are a lot of guides that are out of date, not optimized, and just kind incoherent. We could use your help finding all these guides to fix up. We already have a list of a few that need updating, but feel free to respond to this thread with any guides we missed that need updating. NOTE: We are still looking to fix new pages, but we are now going to move forward and add more pages to the wiki. Please share suggestion for new pages. When doing so give at least an idea on what should be on that page or a link to an existing page on another wiki. ANOTHER NOTE (how kind of me): We are now working more closely with the lore team to fix up lore pages and remove completely wrong or outdated pages. Please mention any lore pages that have issues. I would personally love if you guys mentioned it to a loredev first; however, putting it down on this thread would be nice and we would know what to look for and need fixing. RULES FOR SUGGESTIONS: 1. If you just name a page that should be updated without giving any information on how it should be updated, your suggestion will be ignored. 2. If you ask for a page to be added and do not give any information on what should be on that page or give a link to an existing page on another wiki, do not expect the page to be added quickly. PAGES TO UPDATE Cargo and Cargo Roles: Due to the map change and recent cargo update the cargo pages have become significantly outdated. Will bee working to fix them. (Kind of waiting for Cargo to properly normalize post updated) Mining(Needs fixing up to update with Aurora) (Synth is getting on it) Other Antags (Should be listed. Need antag players for guides.) (Done a lot, but more can still be done) Tesla: Look man I haven't touched the Electric Death machine. Help fixing this page up would be nice. (This is Eve's job) Medical: Still changes, corrections, and all that good stuff being made. Medical related pages will be a Work in Progress. Please if you see any issues go ahead and alert a me or a wiki maintainer. PAGES TO REVIEW NOTE: Those under review are there to be reviewed. There could be some glaring issues with them. That's why they are under the review section, so people can ID the problems and we can fix them. UPDATE: Guides changed to pages since the wiki team is working to fix more than just guides as we look to fix the wiki altogether. Edited March 9, 2018 by Guest Quote
Scheveningen Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Is chemistry really in need of updating? I assumed it was up to scratch right now. Quote
Tailson Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Telecomms! You would not believe how confusing that shit is. Also, xenoarchaeology wasn't very clear when I was doing it some time ago, so maybe that needs looking at, also? Quote

AllyBearsley Posted July 22, 2017 Author Posted July 22, 2017 Thank you all for your suggestions, we'll look into them and see what we can do to update them. As for the question of Chemistry Schev, I am just going by what Skull sent me. We'll look into it and if it doesn't need updating it will not be updated. Quote
Pratepresidenten Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 SOP sorely needs to be fleshed out. It is currently non-existant, if you dont take into account the little scrap thats posted on the Captain's page. There is a lot of confusion what is, and what is not allowed and mandatory during the different alerts. https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Standard_Operating_Procedure Will update this post should I come across more. Pratepresidenten Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Yes, seeing SoP covers a whole lot in the various departments. Take the baystation SOP for example: https://wiki.baystation12.net/Code_Blue#Code_Blue_-_Suspected_Threat Quote
Bokaza Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Add a "Basic writing Guide" for loredevs. It's very much needed. Also, a dictionary to help fix spelling mistakes. Jokes aside, someone should probably make a guide on how to make future wiki pages to help standardize formatting. Quote
AllyBearsley Posted July 22, 2017 Author Posted July 22, 2017 Wikis have guides built in to help people create new pages, as for standardized format that's more on the Manager to decide how that should be done. I will definitely take this into consideration though. As for the SOP business, that will be worked on later, thank you for bringing it up! Quote
Tomiix Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Our wiki right now has nothing for Xenobiology. The current policy for teaching new Xenobiologists for me is to tell them to go to Baystation's wiki... so that is clearly a problem. Quote
AllyBearsley Posted July 22, 2017 Author Posted July 22, 2017 NOTE: Our top priority right now is to update existing guides. If you have ideas for new guides please hold onto those ideas, or send them to me or another wiki-maintainer through a PM so we can save those. Â Quote
AllyBearsley Posted July 22, 2017 Author Posted July 22, 2017 TWO QUICK NOTES! 1. The Chemistry Guide has been looked at by myself with help from medical players. It appears fine. I'll hold onto it as a concern if other players feel it needs updating and update accordingly. 2. With the help of Prate the Virology page has been updated. Please look over it to confirm it looks much better/makes more sense and list any concerns that remain with it. Quote
AllyBearsley Posted July 23, 2017 Author Posted July 23, 2017 Note: Wizard Page has been updated HOWEVER it is still a WIP as of right now. The nice table that went over spells has been removed and spells are currently missing descriptors while I work on bringing that table back + add the artefacts missing + fix up tables for all the different books. So it is updated but barebones right now as we work to get it just right! https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Wizard Quote
Fire and Glory Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 The foods and drinks page needs to be updated, we're using bay's Family Friendly drink recipes which all come up to 30 units or something suitably stupid rather than our old recipes. https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/452 these also are not on the wiki. idioch Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Hi, just joined the forums. I'm also still learning to play SS13, as well as Aurorastation (Rp included). As someone still learning thank you for this! I'm not too familiar with with antagonist, but I do like to read up on them, how different is the Aurora version the Baystation's. They have a very nice setup I feel. https://wiki.baystation12.net/Wizard Also this might seem silly to most of you, but is there not a guide on how to use the control panels, example being say the air alarm settings for instance, which should be apart of atmos guide. I don't know if you need a newer persons perspective on this, but I definitely don't mind browsing the Aurora wiki when I get off work today to add some more things. Quote
AllyBearsley Posted July 24, 2017 Author Posted July 24, 2017 Fire and Glory DM me on discord exactly what you mean. idioch Thank you for that link! I will port over the stuff from Bay that is needed and then edit as needed based on any changes in our code! Quote
UnknownMurder Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Guide to Toxins also definitely needs updating. https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Guide_to_Toxins Quote
idioch Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Just curious was there a reason for having Food and Drink combined? Instead of having them separated and linked to their respective jobs? I'd like to suggest Janitor and Botany to go on the list too. Posted links for potential idea grabs, as current ones seem to be copy and paste from Baystation 13's wiki site. https://tgstation13.org/wiki/Botanist https://tgstation13.org/wiki/Janitor For Janitor there is no Janicart, and there is no mention of the janitorial cart, as well as what it can hold. Could add in the new compactor system, as well as the fact that the janitor has some very interesting door access around the main floor for traitor section. From what I've noticed pretty much all access to maintenance doors, access to the science main hallway and I believe the elevator down as well. The engineering main room, I think also the elevator too, and one other room connected to the main one. Very nice access to Medbay as well as elevator (not sure how much access down below you have), and Sec you have at least access to the hallway from entrance to around the brig cells (leading out to the 2 doors close to HoP's office). Botany as far as I can tell at least, and maybe this isn't intended, multi harvest plants won't die. As long as you weed, water and feed them they will literally last forever, the analyzer does not read Age or Lifespan from what I remember (but listed on wiki). As well the TG site lists info on how to move the hydroponic trays and how to connect them for irrigation purposes. I'm not sure how RP this would be though, and maybe that is why it's not in the guide? Sorry if I wrote too much. Quote
AllyBearsley Posted July 24, 2017 Author Posted July 24, 2017 I have no idea, they were probably connected to make it easier on whoever wrote it at the time. I can see it being divided, but not anytime too soon. Botanist and Janitor added to the list to be updated. Quote
Chada1 Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Server_Rules <= Desperately needs to be updated. It's like a mummified corpse at this point. I don't know how you'd do it, but THIS cannot stand! Â Â ^ I was almost hesitant to report this because of how hilarious the page is, as a legacy to the original server rules. Quote
AllyBearsley Posted July 27, 2017 Author Posted July 27, 2017 That page redirects me here: https://aurorastation.org/rules.html and that's all up to date. Quote
