Now here is the thing. Today I happened to have some time in the noon so I join to cover the bases for a bit and I witness this bizzare thing. It seemed that your character, Assar and another engineer Bonnabelle were engaging in a scuffle, I didn't think much of that. Next thing I know in-between the shakes of the coffee she starts screaming, you whip out a stun baton and bash her a few times, tie her to a chair, she escapes, you tie her. This repeated a few times and I was just awestruck at what was happening as there seemed to be very minimal amount of actual IC converse as she was simply screaming about pains and needing a doctor (Due to the heart damage she had at the time as I checked through VV). All of this was very bizzare behaviour and thus I'd like to inquire what was that even about? -

So far so good! Oh. Okay breaking this part, first laboratories it's your whitelist application and you're trying to make a good first impression, while spelling is not necessary for a good story it gives the application of feeling that you put effort and care into it. Second when you're "Conducting research" it usually means you're actively taking part in it, I guess you meant she was taking research notes? But then she does get involved more because she was talking to the lead scientist which led to her submitting her own theories for future and yada yada Further this kinda boggles my mind, you tell us that you don't want to saymuch about your character but you give me the information that she knows PERSONALLY one of the LEAD SCIENTISTS in THE SKRELL FLEET who develops PROTOTYPE WEAPONS. This is like knowing Albert Einstein during the development of the Nuclear Bomb! This is incredible! And probably one of the biggest influences on her entire life and it ends up as a footnote, this is a lot of wasted potential! And on the subject of weapons. She is working on Theoretical Physics and Bluespace and decides to go design and research weapons? This is very questionable. And here is the biggest crux and what breaks my suspension of disbelief, this character, this girl that personally knows the lead researcher of the Skrell Fleet and is horrified of Synths decides to completely leave behind EVERYTHING and move a few thousand lightyears to work in a human company and a company that is not in the best standing with the Skrell goverment and is FAMOUSLY liberal with its use of synthetics. Did your character just not do any research on her workplace that she was so suprised synths were integrated like this? And if indeed they did do no research, why would they go into human space in the first place? Skrell do their own research and she knows the lead scientists on one of the projects, you would think she would use a recommendation from him to get a good job in the fleet. Then you hit is with the curveball of "After a month in human space", well what did she do for a month? Why did it take so long to start working? Was she getting acclimated? If yes where did she get the money? Do her parents send her money? Wouldn't her parents disagree with working around a bunch of robots? Why didn't she just decide to move back as soon as she discovered synths are so rampant? (Assuming she didn't know there would be this many beforehand). Lastly, NanoTrasen not NanoTresen, don't worry I called it NanoTransen myself for a long time before someone told me it's Trasen. I don't like being the bad guy and I don't know you much in-game so I cannot comment on your in-game ability, but this story was very very weak and I cannot give a nod of approval to a character like this. I don't want you to turn away from this remember that but you need to realize that this is an application that is supposed to show off your knowledge and ability to use lore in the story, you have not done that. Your character is young to juxtapose the older skrell on the station, yes I approve of this it's an interesting storypoint but it also undermines your application in the fact that your character is not actually a Skrell, there is nothing about them that would suggest that. Sure you write they're scared of synths but you never capitalize on it, she completely seems to ignore or overcome her fears in an extremely small amount of time with absolutely no struggle I could EASILY put a human instead of skrell and I have still the same character to the T. Witholding information because you want people to know your character in game is fine, but you have sabotaged yourself with this, by not showing or describing the struggles of your character you have effectively hidden the part that would have made this character a skrell, do mind skrell have SUPRESSED emotions but they still DO have them they DO feel fear they just don't show it as expressively as humans or other species. All in all I must give you a -1 at this time on the lore, I don't know you in-game or your OOC "shwey" so I cannot comment on that and I implore the lore developer to take that into regard when judging this application.

It's why I gave all the previous suggestions. The closing statement is simply what I think it MIGHT end up as. The main reason why I'm so pessimistic is because that I searched and I believe that the devil gamemode has been disabled on just about every server that has it with only being able to activate via. admin powers. Plus I think we seriously need a biological antag to replace ling instead of a new mystical antag as it's much harder to interact with magic rather than technology or aliens. Also the last part isn't a critique, it's my opinion, take everything before that as critique of the gamemode.

I wrote a long post about why this wouldn't work but let me put it more streamlined so it's easier to process compared to a long rant. CONTRACTS Lust: I like it, the issue is it's extremely limited and I don't think a lot of people are going to risk it, not when it has that, for the lack of a better term "rapey" vibe going on. Maybe use those syndie drugs instead that turn other people traitor? Or perhaps "pheromones" like the vampire has with his suggestion or whatever that ability is. Gluttony: Why would I pick this when I can get food? Turning fat to never eat again sounds like a curse not a blessing. Tell you what, instead make them get an ability that gives them the power to turn nutrients into hyperzine. Greed: Thematic, nice, can't lose much with it, I'd say this would be one of the most picked. Maybe increase the amount just so it DOES seem ridiculous. Sloth: Here is the crux of the issue, the ghost aspect because if that happens I basically bought a dud and even if I DO get a slave how the hell is everyone going to react? This would make the devil and his follower extremely obvious. Would benefit if you could recall your slave like a pokeyman. Maybe "smart" and "Dumb" mode, dumb mode is basically a simple mob but much stronger while smart mode would be a human mob and ghost. Wrath: Seriously nobody is going to use this outside of maybe a few validhunters and they're immediatly going to give out your position as soon as they go rootin' and tootin' and shootin'. Instead it should provide a natural increase in strenght, maybe similar to hulk without actually hulking like putting a forceglove modifier on their hands. Envy: Same as above, a single person finds out and your whole operation is kaput. Pride: Why pick anything else? The devil gets more souls, you get more powers this is a self-feeding system. No idea how to fix this one. POWERS The other problem are powers as I implied previously, they're weak. First you get dark-jump, sure thematic and not too overpowered, except the reason this works so well in the vampire kit is that a vampire can shreak and shutter every light in the vicinity, a devil can't do that. Useful but lacks utility, a normal teleport, blink or vampire jaunt would work. Shapeshifting, thematic again, this one is actually good except you'd probably need to put this one first as the devil would have to blend into the crowd first and foremost since it's pretty clear he'd be found out as soon as someone wishes for a gun because people who wish for guns can't keep it hidden. Yeah just move this one to a single soul. Teleportation, just the whole thing, it takes two minutes to take off cuffs and this takes TWO times that? And FIVES times that when I don't use a proper mark rune? Useless. What he would seriously need is something to escape containment with, like even permanent, maybe make it possible for him to create a "body double" which he can stash away and switch conciousness, maybe make it eat up a soul. Corrupt, seriously? If you haven't told someone to kill the chaplain yet you probably deserve to be blessed otherwise this is the least played role and the devil gamemode isn't going to make it any more played just because it's going to make chaplain the validest of salids. If you want effective corruption make it possible for him to corrupt items or crewmembers to turn them into different things (temporarily) True Form, this honestly looks like a massive excuse to become a "hero" character and I can already see people kicking and screaming over each other for a HONOBRU DUERRR!!!! At this point I think the devil SHOULD be a literal unstoppable force, maybe keep chaplain completely untouchable and instead the devil can use this time to keep summoning his demon armies and eating human souls while crewmembers get to evacuate. CLOSURE This is like the lovechild of peace-antag. It has the contracts of wizard with the binding power of cult but also the magical power of me being able to say "no thanks" and all of the powers are shittier than what the wizard can offer me no matter what I pick. It has the rev ability of literally doing a 360 and moonwalking away, it require the antag to co-operate and act like the nicest guy to the crew since a single insult could mean an entire departments starts to shun you. It has a weird mixture of useless and useful contracts, some of which would reveal you IMMEDIATLY as the game begins. This would just become 2 hours of nothing as like 2-3 people get a gun and then the devil gets arrested or just blunders around maint. I cannot support this, we don't need more "If one person is shit say goodbye to the entire round" gamemode like ninja or wizard, those are WAY more powerful and already suffer from it.

Sadly that is one of the effects of equality on storytelling. The thing is, we aren't. Players were already expected to follow these head guidelines, Tajara ARE underdeveloped and it is one of their BIGGEST differences compared to other species and so even Hharar and Njarir heads should have been a VERY rare sight, franly it has gotten a bit out of control mainly with the M'sai characters not so much with Zhan, it's why I voted for the first option. Instead we're doing the metaphorical Gengis Khan approach and cutting the metaphorical head off of anyone metaphorically taller then the metaphorical cart. So in a twist of dramatic irony we're fixing our issues with Equality by making everyone from those species equally not allowed to play the roles. Need to talk to JB and his deputy Kaed for that one. EDITED: Fucked up my quotes.

Time I give my own two cents. I'll be honest, I was the one who supported the first split, i.e "Only Hharar and Njarir" and coincidentally I was one to suggest that only Njarir get to be heads which was shot down by JB and others which was the best decision looking at this feedback. (Although I did expect more flate-rate Tajara players) To it then. "Why now?" Because nobody had the balls before and it should have been a thing from the start. "It limits roleplay." Yes but the mistake is thinking that species are something else than a bundle of arbitrary limitations with an established backstory. If we wanted to give everyone "As many roleplay opportunities as possible" we would have just deleted the Tajara and made them a human faction, the restrictions that we set in place is what effectively makes the species A species. IPCs not feeling emotions, Dionea being averse to violence, Unathi upholding honor codes, Dominians following edicts, Elyrians having a certain skin tone, these restrictions is what makes these factions and species THE RESPECTIVE factions and species. Look at Eridani and how much everyone complained when we let players be whatever species they wanted, everyone suddenly took an issue with "freedom of roleplay" because those players were "mis-representing the faction". Restrictions is what makes a species THE species and what makes it possible for a lore-developer to tell a certain kind of a story and carry a narrative. Speaking of. "Why at all?" Because we need to enforce the narrative. In recent years people have started getting bored of the war and struggle on Adhomai, something which is appearing more and more with "when will it end?" threads being made in monthly intervals. And when there is a leak, the whole boat sinks. The disinterest in the war has lead to disregard of the political factions, the disregard of political factions has in turn lead to people ignoring racial or factional biases on station which leads to Tajara basically being faster, sweaty russians with a speech impedement. (So normal russians) The species in general ALREADY suffers from player freedom, while IPCs, Vaurca, Diona and even Skrell have enforced alien behaviour, Tajara really don't outside of a few quirks they have to follow. "Why don't you just end the war and focus on something new?" The end is coming, but it is WAY more believable for a faction with which NT publicly aligns with having some say in what happens to their citizens in a foreign country than just suddenly stopping the war on shaky grounds of "I was bored of it". Not only that but we're building a new foundation with this, it is hard to express a "fight against opression and the system" when the opression simply doesn't exist and if "Players don't want to be racist" then how else can we express this than making the setting more welcoming to such attitude, do note we aren't FORCING Njarir and Hharar players to BE racist towards Zhan-Khazan or M'sai I would actually say the opossite as the saying goes "Success breeds envy", if anything Zhan-khazan and M'sai will be more prone towards disliking their more privileged bretheren. "But there aren't many/any Zhan heads" Well then this change won't be an issue. I think that covers everything.

But I never said ballistics are inferior, I just implied it would be pretty neat to have more flexibility as an antagonist to diversify your equipment instead of relying on a single damage output. Also the clips were never the point of the discussion, it was just a footnote. Doc's idea sounds very fun and useful, searching for chargers can be annoying.

How about a battery pack that would require to be charged instead of being spent? Similar to basically lugging around a second energy gun (something people already do) with the exception of it being smaller (medium size?), besides it WOULD be an antag item, those tend to be somewhat unbalanced or on the stronger side as they're supposed to give the traitor enough leverage to be able to overcome your average armed security officer. With the recent re-mapping and re-work and re-whatevers have happened, I have noticed the station has become basically a glass dome, near every department is punctured with windows,windoors or doors that have glass panels. Second, diversification, people have tought themselves that antagonists deal brute and nothing else which has resulted in plenty of options just going un-used because it's pointless to use them against projectiles. Third, lasers will I think help (even if only a little) with the overall "Feel" of this being a sci-fi, primary antag weapons are a Revolver, a vintage sub-machine gun and a stetchkin, none of this really screams "Sci-fi" more like "1920's". I don't really know what it could be, maybe just a laser rifle? Concealed laser pistol? Pulse pistol? X-ray laser rifle? X-ray laser pistol? Open for suggestions on this one and I frankly feel like devs would be a lot better at determining what should go there as they're more familiar with the precise damage metrics. Now frankly I can see this impacting security meta a lot, as we know a large part of security are M'sai tajara (for their speed) and IPCs (Due to ressilience). This will kinda flip the whole thing on its head, tajara will be at a disadvantage due to how lasers function and you can't really "Track the bullet" while IPCs will suffer due to burn damage against which they're weaker, same with vaurca. If this is good or bad, can't really tell.

I planted the original idea of this into Elohi's head so I'm in full support this, not having a way to properly catch animals and beasties really made me tear my hair out back when I played my Xenobio skrell as I hoped to make some dank papers on their lifestyle and behaviour but instead got my speciments shot to death because nobody wants to catch them in a locker. So yes, full support.

You know what we could do? Get all these abillities to the Detomatrix. Nobody uses it anyways since it doesn't do much damage and with the 3 uses it's pretty useless. One more thing I'd like would be a "Logic Bomb" that spams a specific PDA with 10-20 Spam messages, maybe a ringer that makes everyones PDA on station beep once. I like it
