1. Everyone said what I wanted to say more or less, RNG is not a good balancer and Telescience is barebones as is. Sure you can "Guess" where that shit lands based on 8th grade math but getting the machine to actually hit 1:1 reliably is a bit trickier, mainly now when the map is so fucking big and we have 3 layers.
2. The issue I find with this is exactly the size of it. Now touching the shuttle is a nono according to the shuttle during a voted transfer, alright. Departures too why not. But what about security checkpoint? What about elevators? Perhaps the hallway leading to transfers? Or maybe the hallway leading to elevators? The question is, where do we stop enforcing this rule as every admin can stretch this differently as I can effectively stop a transfer just by blowing up the hallway leading to departures next to the elevators. So where exactly would you draw the line?
3. Let me start with the fact that I indeed wrote a 3 page essay on Tajara fasion about 8 hours after Mofo1995 announced hte position and thus I speak from I think position of someone who has gone through the ordeal and thus I think I have quite the amount of information. And strangely enough I somewhat agree, while Mofo said ANYONE who writes the 3 page essay is getting accepted, I have to admit that later on the pages were bit of an asspull as I had to make up lore almost off the top of my head and make some quite wide assumptions. (That might have been because I wrote 3 pages about Tajara fashion.) I was told that I practically shit ideas so I might be speaking from a privileged position and this might be a lot harder for others than me, but I think that is a bit subjective. Not really the main issue just a side-gripe. My main issue isn't detailed within Xander's post and that is, well secrecy. While yes you can call lore-deputy whitelists a "popularity contest" the fact is other people get to come in and put their two cents into the opinion slot machine and in some cases this can make or break an application, as for example some people might raise points that someone talks the talk but does not walk the walk in-game, this comes in useful as our Loredevs have been somewhat known to not frequent the game as much as regular players and frankly even those players aren't on 24/7 (most). While I appreciate the positive outlook of pumping out more lore and something I wished to push for with my application at the end of last year, I realize that this isn't a job and a lot of people DO have jobs in REAL LIFE and don't want this passion project to turn into a soul-sucking demon. It would also be very interesting to do Xander's first solution and apply this standart to EVERY LORE MEMBER, as I think this would make quite a lot of people who took up the position, turned AFK for 10 months and fucked right off, well impossible to sign up as the three pages require quite the concentrated effort and dedication. HOWEVER you cannot forget how skimpishly small certain lore venues are, dionaea and IPCs come to mind or how certain lore is pretty much covered from all venues and there is quite the tight little box regarding what is allowed regarding the species, I'd point this at Vaurcae (Who have been quite boxed until the arrival of the new queen which offers a bit more variety.) I do not disagree with either of those ideas, I'm simply pointing at the bad side of the coin. If I were to advise anything, I would like Mofo1995 to perhaps create a "Post-whitelist thread" where community members could freely post about their issues with that and those players. (And stop using "grooming" ffs mofo I ain't a dog mate)
4. I know about the meme, I didn't base it on the meme and I frankly have no other set of phrases that would really describe the charcter outside of those words. And "The Inadequate Must Be Afraid of Those Superior" won't fit
5. While I don't agree with the others, I agree with this one. Something like this could force vampires into actually getting some blood as soon as possible instead of walking around doing nothing as they increase their chance of detection.
6. Well one bulldog isn't a shotgun and two we already have an LMG that functions exactly the same way as yours.
7. Well the question is, what do they offer? Like why would I take that instead of the trusted Bulldog or the Traitor gun? You could make them stronger but that just results in powercreep and if you make them weaker, well who'll use them? Plus WHO will use them? Will they just sit on theirr ass in code unloved and unwanted? Raiders, I mean raiders get a fuckton of random guns already there would be a minimal chance of these spawning. WHY exactly would we get these guns outside of "I want them" and "It won't hurt anyone," because I feel like the code is already cluttered with plenty of un-used sprites.
8. 27 characters too many get FUCKED I was told it was 32 by everyone I asked, oh well.
9. BYOND Key: Coalf Character Names: Katya Al-Tahara, Dane Huey, Scoop, Patrick Huey, Elwood Hoover, PES Species you are applying to play: Dionaea What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Green Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Frankly until recently I considered Dionaea a low-tier RP garbage with gimmicky characters and no real impact on the station, so I'd like to see if I'm wrong. Secondly, I've been given an opportunity to play a dionaea already as a merc player (A dion) had to leave, the issue was they have captured a player as a prisoners and it would be stupidly unfair to the player to simply remain stuck in a cell for the whole round. I tried to fetch someone with a whitelist at first in deadchat but nobody was available, thus holding the wiki in one hand and taking advice from another dionea player off-of discord who was not present in game I started to act and quite frankly I very much enjoyed the slower paced yet still intelligently gifted tree gameplay. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Of course I could list all the gameplay differences for easy goodboi credits but I find that pointless, so I'll give my thoughts. The same thing that makes IPCs different from Humans, no real history. But unlike IPCs a lot of the things that really shape Dindin's are mechanically enforced or atleast easily spotted by other players, making it much harder for Treeboi whitelisters to break their own whitelist rules and make characters that are too far from the intended idea of the species. Aditionally the mindset itself is interesting, while humans would consider something logical and automatically assumed it might be quite different for a dionea, yet their intelligence allows them to symphathize quite a lot with humans but not really emphathize. Character Name: Weak Should Fear Strong Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Weak Should Fear The Strong(WSFTS from now on) awoke for the first time, in a Xenofloral Exhibition, WSFTS didn't move because it didn't have to, it was warm, bright and from time to time small critters were thrown into its glassy home to be crushed and devouvered. However it had insatiable curiosity that could not be easily quenched. But the owner was quite strict and the first few years were spent inside that prison, watching and listening, waiting as unlike other Nymphs WSFTS had to learn alone through simple observation, not consumption. It learned many things in is prison, or well it thought it was many things, for example Basic, Gutter, The use of basic household appliances, Rat Anatomy, Who won the Ultrabowl last night and that the owner snipped parts of plants for his own use such as eating, smoking and injecting, but there was one lesson that stuck above all. While WSFTS was vivisecting the new creature that was thrown to it, it witnessed a human boy take vast interest in it. Suddenly the light went out, it was confused and scared, then it went back on, everything was okay, light off, scared, light on okay, light off, light on, light off, light on, yell. Someone yelled at the boy to stop, another human this one with longer hair, the larger human pushed the new one down and kicked it in the face two more rushed in much taller than the little one, effortleslly they dragged him off and the larger one started beating the smaller one, this interested WSFTS and shaped its whole life. A few weeks later WSFTS broke the lightbulb in its tray by unscrewing the bulb and cutting the ever small pieces inside it then screwing it back on, for the tenth time. It had learned that if it stays in one place and doesn't move, the owner won't have the need to restrain it, again it waited patiently until her reached inside and then, up, up his arm, down the pants, under the table and into the ventilation. Free. However it was too curious to be free, too curious to the surroundings it didn't want to know more about the outside world it wanted to know more about the people observing it, poking it, tapping on the glass, tap tap tap. At night when the owner passed out from drug use, it snuck into his little place where he used the plants and for the first time in its life, WSFTS fed on knowledge. It ate and ate, the fauna, flora, each chemical within his blood broken down and analyzed, studied, known. After it was done, the small nymph emerged from the building as a full grown Dionaea, now with its basic hungers satiated it turned to the next biggest database of knowledge, Extranet. The next visit was the public library where after being given some weird looks it learned everything it needed to know, chemicals, pain, pleasure, addictions, fear, strenght, power, weakness. WSFTS closed the book on neurosurgery and knew its next course of action. Through simpe intimidation WSFTS was reluctantly accepted as a bouncer, this job proved to be quite suitable for the Dionea as nobody really dared to mess with the 8 foot tall tree capable of squishing your head like a watermelon. Rats, Light and water was all provided for and all WSFTS had to do was wait, and so it waited and waited until enough money could be attained and enough lessons could be learned. And so it learned, and got money, and spent money, and waited, it was all quite interesting. A few times it saw what seemed like walking Arthropoids, Vaurca, interesting, those were new but after watching them operate it took no interest, they were boring, bug-like in apperance and behaviour. The unbound were a different case, but hard to come by. The humans screamed at them, threw cans but they never yelled back. One day the humans simply gave up. Weakness, strenght. Some men from Sol came once, they broke the machines, one of them begged for its life even if it didn't live. The man broke it, Seargent Jeremiah O'Harriam, he had bags under his eyes and his clutched teeth expressed anger as he stamped on the dead synthetic. Divorced, wife took child, Spacebook was a very interesting place for WSFTS too. Eventually the time came, Weak Should Fear The Strong, PhD. It was logical to sign up for NanoTrasen, they were the strongest. What do you like about this character? Weak Should Fear The Strong was a character concept I've had rolling in the back of my head for some quite time. WSFTS is for me a character that finds understanding and interest in the psychological and logical pathways of other breathing, living, organisms. It likes to know what makes them tick, what makes them angry, what makes them happy and as its namesake implies, it wants to know what it means to be strong. It isn't however cruel, or cold. It's simply calculating and understanding that some creatures must accept the consequences and die and while it holds a lot of sympathy it never feels bad when someone dies because someone else killed them, it feels like that is the natural order but by going against that natural order, WSFTS itself becomes stronger than the force that tried to crush the weaker organism, surpassing it. This is why it leans on being a surgeon and saving lives. To be the strongest. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Ten outta ten I'm practically living my character my man. When I play a Tajara? I fucking shave a rug and sprinkle that shit into my fucking pants bro. Shieet when I played a skrell? I always kept a bucket near me to dip my sauces in to keep myself properly lubricated for that role. Whenever I play command I tend to shove a stick up my ass to properly emulate the command mindset. Why do we have this question again? Notes: I went a bit overboard with the backstory, also it's exactly 00:00 where I live so spooky. ALthough the scariest part has to be the grammar in this lmao. Feel free to fix shit.
10. No further questions.
11. A few more questions regarding this actually. What if someone were to write you an application, now let's say it is not the greatest but you consider it actually a nice piece of lore to be potentially added, but you already picked a different person for the deputy position. What would you do in that case? Add their lore and maybe leave a reference to who wrote it? Also, let's do the impossible see the invisible, row row fight the power and say that somehow someone who took the time in the three page essay and you accepted simply says something came up and he has to leave, would you start this three page essay contest over again or would something else happen?
12. I did address that in my post. Although I don't get why the furry, wurry when scalies and Unathi are the same thing, numbers maybe? But I guess you are correct regarding deputy and lore developer applications and them being a simple popularity contest and not a skill or quality contest. While dedication cannot be denied in the case of an actual three page esssay, I have to ask just for a complete statistical estimate a few question. Mofo1995 How many application do you expect to get? Just a rough estimate is fine, I'm curious about how much faith you put in people. Additionally, how do you plan to address people who aren't going to get it? A 3 page essay about a made up species is a good few hours of dedicated writing and it's clear that a lot of people are going to be afraid of writing their essay and simply being refused because someone made a better one. Don't you think it's going to deter people a bit?
13. Memes aside, ain't that a bit overboard? You are essentially asking for an amount of lore that some loredevs haven't written this entire year. While I understand this is used to deter lazy and people who are furries only here for the nature of the species. Won't this detter the more moderate but still productive members aswell? While I am insane enough, a lot of people might expect that they have to produce this amount of lore on daily basis, could you clarify a bit further on this? "We discussed this as a joke intially," doesn't help it either, it makes it seem like a "hazing ritual" rather than an actual lore development application.

15. Okay, since I didn't fucking notice this thread before I finished typing my thread. I'll just copypate my thread here. Alright we had our fun with this, but this has as of now become a problem. Let me explain what the initial worry was. 1: "Science is just a gun department" And as of now science has been "un-gunned", coders have removed quite a few of the old-style weapons like Advanced Laser Gun that used to grow in science like k'ois in botany. Instead we have modular guns, which are useless as of now because nobody in security is going to take a gun that MIGHT work instead of a gun that DOES work. 2: "Just get firing pins from security/cargo" Security isn't going to give a scientist a firing pin. There are 0 reasons to do that outside of one isolated situation where a security officer somehow decided to take every firing pin from armory and literally every other security officer is dead, rest of armory was spaced and cargo has been discarded into space. As I said, security has no reason to use the guns themselves, rather they'd just print slugs in science/cargo or use the plethera of weapons they already have and that work RELIABLY. Cargo, *firing pins are EXTREMELY expensive and even then the nature of "no metagaming" means that you really don't have a reason to order pins that would allow you to use guns outside of the testing range. Unless you're a traitor at which point it is again easier, stealthier and faster to buy a traitor revolver. MAYBE you'd be capable of getting firing pins during red, but at that point why not just use a two-step system and getting a contraband crate or autoshotguns if you're already getting weapons? Not only are they more effective but they are also guaranteed to work and are extremely lethal. Solutions: Yes I have multiple solutions, the title was bait. 1: Make modular guns have the option to add/not add a firing pin. This is the best solution, for one people have a reason to ask a scientist "Hey, why don't you have a safety pin on this" making it easy to spot people who are making weapons for "just in case". Not only that but it actually makes these guns a viable option if the need would arise to defend oneself or if someone wanted to traitor with these. 2: Just remove them. Yes. 3: Make firing pins more common. Autolathe, Prolathe, Maybe a box in RD's office. **make the cheaper in cargo EDITS: *re-worded the cargo thing, forgot firing pins weren't around before the cargo update **added this
16. What it says on the tin. Since the dawn of time Science and Mining have been the Ying and Yang. Science needed mining for minerals and Miners needed Science for their drill upgrades, this way scientist tried their best to outfit miners as it was in their interest for miners to be better equipped so they can bring back more minerals and for miners it was in their best interest to bring materials to science as they would get gear which would help them mine and survive. Now what we have is mining being basically their own mini-station. Their greed for points leads miners to smelting every piece of ore, even if it produces useless garbage like Plastic or Iron. Drills? No point, KA is much faster and even if drills/pickaxes give overall more minerals from a single vein, the speed with which you use the KA far outweights the GPS (Gain Per Second). Ripley? Nope, using a hardsuit is much more beneficial and faster. Most of the time the Ripley is only useful for the first 20 minutes before miners can get their hands on the KA. Oh but we don' stop there, the KA has not only infinite ammo, massive range and fast fire. It can be upgraded to break rocks in an AoE radius, reload much faster and even have colored beams, yaaay! Thus my suggestion is to simply move the upgrades to science, that is it.
17. Alright since this seems to have calmed down, I'll be closing this thread later today.
18. Alright, before this goes off the rails. As of now the thread is being taken over by myself, Coalf and Pratepresidenten with the approval of Head Aministrator Sharp. We came to a disagreement with the decisions calion12 and Tomiix came to regarding this complaint. After reviewing the presented evidence, our decision has been that this is in-fact not an IC issue, character OR a whitelist issue, instead it is an issue of OOC behaviour breaching IC. While yes, we believe being an IPC has some weight on what is presented, we mainly think this "memetic" behaviour was mostly done because the players thought it would be a funny thing to do, not the character. If these two characters were humans, Tajara, Unathi, Skrell or Molepeople we would have come to this decision anyways. I feel a lot of this complaint has been agressively aimed at Sytic and his IPC when both players, Jennalele , are involved, I also used this part as an excuse to ping both players to be made aware that we've taken over. In regards to their memery both players have already been talked to by Cake and JB, but once again from my mouth, this has been over the line and we urge you to keep in mind other players are around and you are partially responsible for their immersion.
19. Locking and Archiving.
20. You should probably hit Elohi Adanvdo now, since they are the owner.
21. Just to clarify, my above screenshotted post isn't really about this topic. It was made as an unrelated comment in discord.
22. Alright I think we can declare this resolved. Me and DatBerry have come to a consensus regarding this. 1: A janitor, the person one step higher on the ladder than an assistant closing the door in your face in a passive-agressive manner does not warrant you just giving up on commanding them, this is extremely small resolve for a Chief Engineer character. Going to CE from visitor is extremely iffy but with your behaviour you were just an engineer with a little bit more access. The only commands you ever gave was people to go down and breach the AI from the front while you cheese it from the top. You didn't try to command. 2: Station bounced radios are not an issue to get, fuck the walls are lined with radios, PDA's, newscasters, using your lisps to ask "Where are the engineers?" or "Have you seen the other engineers?". You didn't try to communicate. 3: Something I noticed all over your posts and that is the phrase "Assumed". You assumed the team failed, you assumed it was delta, you assumed people didn't want you to command, you assumed and assumed and assumed. Don't assume, not only did you assume wrong but your wide assumptions ruined the round of another player and basically cockblocked an entire team that took the time and effort to breach through the front from all action with one of the cheesiest strats to ever be witnessed. You didn't try to inform yourself. My issue is you play CE regularly and have recently whitelisted for it, I would have understood if you didn't have much experience with it but you play this role exclusively. This gives me quite the big think about your position. After all is said and done, you'll be given a warning and I'll ask you to actually gather information before taking the easiest way to something and basically walking over every other players. This thread will be locked and archived in 24 hours.
23. Type (e.g. Planet, Faction, System): Colony Space Station Founding/Settlement Date (if applicable): 2413 is the recorded "Creation" of said Colony. The initial Accident dates to 2411 Region of Space: Outer Colonies Controlled by (if not a faction): Sol Alliance Other Snapshot information: The Colony Station has a highly advanced magnetic tractor beam which was originally intended as a pully mechanism with which the first landing ship, The Monter, would simply "catch" the other ships which were not intended to lift off again anyways. This would create massive savings on landing gears, fuel and re-entry engines or balancing mechanisms. Long Description: The Trummer is an amalgamation of multiple colony ships welded, screwed and attached into each other creating a perfectly suitable colony station. Initially "The Trummer" was a colonization attempt consisting of 3 colony ship and 5 escort ships, carrying colonists to a nearby planet where they were to setup farms, mining factories and hospitals, this effort was quite ambitious and a lot was invested into it. However an asteroid debris found its way past the scanning arrays of the Colony ships and rammed directly into the Third Colony Ship, Hof. The ship equipped with farm animals, equippment and seeds required to set-up proper agriculture, this way the whole mission was in jeopardy and the lives of thousands of colonists were at stake. With quick thinking, the captain of an accompanying ship,"Monter", sprung into action and used the docking ports on his ship to encapsulate the hole created by the debris and effectivelly creating a "tunnel" between the two ships. This critical thinking saved countless lives and allowed the crew of The Monter to work on repairing The Hof. Unfortunately the repairs would have taken much much longer than initially expected and other colony ships could not afford to "hang around", thus after a heated debate between the ships captains, Sol and crewmembers, they came to a consensus. The Monter and Hof were to be permanently fused, along with the other colony ship, The Aptekar, and one of the escort ships, The Ochranar. Nowadays "The Trummer" is a fully functioning colony, focusing on expeditions aimed at landing on asteroids or using their magnetic tractor beam if they're high on metal contents. The station colony itself isn't overtly rich, but their income and outcome balance each other and the populance lives a somewhat comfortable life. But their times of unity have long passes, while the unification of ships has been an architectural success as only minor issues have appeared since, speaking culturally it is much different. Many living on this colony blame the original ship, Hof, for their current disposition and thus it has become a frequency to blame "Those From Hof" for anything even remotely bad, no matter how un-involved it is. This is demonstrated mainly by the people coming from the Aptekar and Ochranar ships, while the crew of Monter often takes side with the Hof as it was them who first started this. Thus gang wars are a very common occurance and riots happen on almost monthly basis. A few attacks by pirates have been registered but the way the ships are constructed together tends to leave the pirates confused on where to actually shoot or board, thus the station is relatively safe from pirates even with the weak strenght of the outer colonies.
24. I said "too many repeating arguments", wasn't pointing directly at you. The only one aimed at you was the "The People" one, with which I say. That's your opinion.
