Wild conversation here. I support the head of staff expansion to offworlders.

I love rats but I don't want anthro-rats as an antag species. Would be kinda lame since we are lacking in the actual "alien alien species" department.

That is ERDL-Woodland Camouflage. Utilized in the Vietnam War. This is URBAN FLECKTARN. compare to this:

[Denied] Server Moderator Application - Naelynn
Scheveningen replied to Naelynn's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
You've caught a lot of flak in the past for your method of antagging, but you're a really nice and level-headed person plus a stellar roleplayer imho. I haven't personally seen you lose your head (figuratively speaking) in my time with playing with you, and you do seem to be able to understand other people's perspective well enough that I think that does qualify you for server mod. +1, but... Just be careful, server modding isn't for everyone, and if ever you feel the pressure or heat of the position, take a step back/a break, and ask for help from your fellow mods if you make it on the team. -
I was the Tup Commander for the last half of events, and a Tup Commando kidnapping a few people for the interlude mini-events. By the second to last event, the overall station was siding with the revolutionaries (or perhaps more accurately, actively resisting the Federation's attempts to succeed). Much developed to this point to essentially drive the Tups into a desperate final act to brute force an attempt at victory, something not known to be common as far as the Federation's modus operandi goes. The Peacekeeping/Tup Commando elements pretty much lost their sense of moral/rational compass in an attempt to achieve victory by any means necessary. The Tups were sufficiently distracted enough, however, by the security force essentially deciding to risk their lives and be bowled over by the commando force. We were expected to "job" a little, if anyone understands that from a wrestling perspective, which is to be comfortable with taking smaller losses on purpose while still stage-acting the impression that we were pushing for a victory. I took it to interpret that the last event was supposed to be an explosion of violence and terror from an OOC standpoint, and Tup'Qerrim themselves was pushing for a final, desperate attempt to scratch out some kind of victory, knowing that something would happen. Hindsight is 20/20 and the Tups ended up jobbing way more than was expected - though to be fair I was never given the impression that the Jargon Federation was meant to win on its own. Ultimately the events hinged entirely on what the crew decided was the side to choose, not the Tups by themselves.

So it's okay for you to call someone a sexist slur because you think Resi was 'baiting' you? But I guess this isn't the first time you've used slurs to try to prove a (equally fallacious and offensive) point.

Figured out advanced search. Thanks, Abo/Arrow. I am going to cite recent examples only in this post. If anyone has specific evidence of their person-to-person interaction with Burger, either DM me with examples or you can post here. If you have more indirect examples to pass along, definitely DM me, don't risk getting a relevant post deleted and a forum warning if you're not directly involved/a witness of his poor behavior. Dec 16th of last year. Closed on Jan 7th. The above thread is complaining about IC engineering behavior in which two characters simply behaved in a suboptimal or silly fashion that more seasoned engineering characters tend to avoid. Not rulebreaking behavior, but then the OP of the complaint decides to push the goalposts to find another reason to crucify the players behind the characters. Note the specific tone taken by Burger, it's not an understanding/courteous one. Dec 20th of last year. Closed on Jan 7th. Burger and UM get into a knife-fight because of a difference in opinion over what is reasonable escalation. Despite the validity Burger may or may not have had in this complaint, the manner in which he posed his arguments and points were anything but courteous and understanding. Let me also point out in some of his posts, he writes out gigantic floods of text that absolutely nobody wants to read. It is the opposite of concise and simple. December 30th, closed January 7th. More floods of text disputing a note. A fucking note. Okay, surely this is enough, right? No, there is other recent complaints too. Figure out if you can see some familiar names. So, what to say about this? I feel like this is the only way to easily convey this. How about a familiar Aesop's Fable? http://read.gov/aesop/043.html What I'm seeing here is an incredibly bad faith usage of the complaint forums to, honestly whine about otherwise non-problematic issues pertaining to the overall community. We all have things that we whine about. I whine about dumb rounds I experience, but they happen and I try to get over them instead of maintaining silly grudges over a single video game experience. To Burger themselves, I am sure there is a difference of perspective, but virtually all I can see is this behavior of "crying wolf" and then Burger expecting the admins to come to their rescue after the nine millionth invalid complaint with the most mundane circumstances is opened. This is an obvious abuse of the more serious sections of the forums, their function is intended to help solve issues, not fill the backlog with infinite amounts of stuff that the admins become slowly less motivated to deal with in general. I am willing to bet that Burger has no fucking idea what the admins have to put up with. I will not speak for them either, but what affects the admins' ability to perceive issues and address them affects the community that is trying to behave in good faith and have their issues dealt with with a modicum of decency and respect given to others. And I am seeing very little in return from Burger. Intolerant attitudes literally cannot be tolerated, or it creates this negativity spam/feedback loop as we've seen so far. I don't care what negative behavior Burger does or does not recognize in themselves, he fucking blew it countless times already and he is yet to get anything for this array of crap that everyone has to put up with.

BYOND Key: Scheveningen Accused Players Byond Key: BurgerBB Time of Act: January 9th to current time Reason for Ban: Baseless OOC accusations of harassment by other community members, while in turn publicly slandering said community members. Being a dick, spamming the forums with insane amounts of negativity. Also spamming the complaints board with a ton at-face-value invalid complaints with issues that should not have been written into a complaint in the first place, but rather should've been resolved by getting over it or trying to fix the issue some other way. His way of posting in and handling his own side of complaints also pretty much matching with his typical approach to be super crass and disrespectful. Most likely repeating behavior that led to their prior ban from the community before. Lot of shitty salty commentary in OOC on the main server as well. Evidence: The OOC accusations of harassment and a lot of unfair slander occur in this thread, with a ton of misrepresentation of the intent and faith of other players in the community. There's a lot of his tone and attitude that also indicates that he has very little intention to be respectful and courteous, quite the opposite which makes the matter worse. The forums make combing through a specific forum user's activity extremely difficult, either that or I cannot seem to expand Burger's posts past the most recent assortment. Otherwise I would dump a large amount of evidence to attach to my claims. I am requesting a community-wide ban to be reinstated on this individual. I have been told at least a few times now in reporting his behavior that they have been "tracking" Burger as an issue or dealing with him while a complaint is open on another staff member (as he seems to tend to do) would create a conflict of interest. While that assessment is not unfounded, Burger's MO appears to be to create a lot of borderline issues that are not individually actionable by themselves, but nonetheless make a fair deal of individuals made very uncomfortable and feel unwelcome nonetheless. I am personally very tired of seeing Burger repeat the same old crap and not receive any consequences for it. I do not mean disrespect to the staff team when I say this, but I'm really disappointed - this ban request has been written as a last resort as it is clear that the staff will not handle him until this is forced onto their doorstep in plain view to deal with.

It does in-game, actually. Whether it should in-universe is a different story.

I agree. It should be a lot speedier than it supposedly is, nothing really makes a lot of sense with how everything is framed. The slowest drives should only take a couple weeks to travel, up to a month for larger convoys such as for trade fleets or large military detachments with slower logistical vessels, provided they're travelling from one end of the known civilized galaxy to another. Shuttling out in a speedy craft from one system to another adjacent one should take 24 hours at most.

From the top. 1. Wxkri, by all accounts has gone missing. An investigation is likely launched, considering the importance of the individual to the Federation's interests and the fact that his disappearance lines up shortly after he gave a lot of useful information to the Federation, which is very suspicious and suggests foul play. At least to the Federation, it certainly would. 2. Some basic components of evidence/pre-existing conditions are found. I'll split them into lettered categories. 2a. The blood in maintenance. 2b. The same blood on the refitted Tajara mining voidsuit. (Good question, what colored blood was it last?) 2c. Some indication that there was a prior assault early in the shift where Wxkri was shot (but not killed) by a KA in front of a few individuals. 3. Depending on how seriously we take this, since CCIA has booked people before on this basis to bust liars; security camera footage. Since I witnessed the murder as an observer, I certainly know no footage could've possibly captured the event as it was undertaken in maintenance. The prior assault with the KA as mentioned in 2c... well, don't really know. That's probably concerning to someone. I personally view the entire situation as on the borderline and not precisely within reasonable doubt. The evidence is not damning, but I'd view it sufficient for an investigation - Welp, Alb swooped in quick, just saw the PDA logs. RIP.

I was observing when you murdered Wxkri in maintenance. There was a lot of blood. If security walked through that section of maintenance during a standard round, it stands to reason they would've gotten forensics immediately to the site. Clean-up crew would likely have someone to call as well. Citation needed. There isn't actual written-down lore on this, and I don't think de facto lore would help the case here. There is also no IC explanation for why the bones are there. To some it's probably more likely that the bones are there for mystery and intrigue reasons as well as to establish that the asteroid is a very dangerous place to wander. Corpse decay does not happen in a vacuum, and there's not even a little bit of oxygen within the asteroid's atmosphere (apart from an unintentional issue that happens when the miners force their airlocks like the minimum wage dummies they are). Should also state that murder convictions without a body have happened, and that circumstantial/forensic evidence are enough to book someone for an indefinite period of time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_murder_convictions_without_a_body

[1 dismissal] Double sided courtesy policy for ahelps/tickets
Scheveningen replied to Kaed's topic in Rejected Policy
Should point out this thread was necrobumped. Nobody was misrepresenting you, they were quoting the exact literal posts you made and responded in a literal fashion. You're responsible for your own words and the obvious implications thereof in formulating sentences or ideas upon this very forum. Kind of a drastic response to being called out as wrong, but okay. Bye. -
I was part of the Jargon Security Forces that round. Look at this from the Federation's standpoint. 1. Wxkri gave us a shit-ton of information the round of his death pertaining to a ton of leads and potential guilty parties. Wxkri was not only a Federation sympathizer but essentially a valuable informer, willing to defy doc-patient confidentiality to assist the Federation. The death of an informer is not something that goes unnoticed, especially that of a C'thur who is essentially a Jargon Federation citizen as far as that consideration goes. 2. Yahir later PDAs someone about a bug being squashed. There's a very limited amount of things this could mean when a valuable Federation informer that is a Vaurca, suddenly disappears or turns up dead. 3. The Federation is not stupid. They and the FIB will pursue anything that even looks like a lead, and so would the FIB when motivated to do so, considering the disappearance of a Federation citizen happened within the territory of Tau Ceti, and it looks really bad on TC and NT for not trying to investigate or cooperate to assist in the investigation of the mysterious disappearance/death of Wxkri. The Feds/FIB would certainly detain anyone who looks like they'd know about a disappearance/murder. Considering the corporate influence that NT has over the TC courts as well, it rounds out to assume that the courts are not as impartial as you might think they are. If you took careful consideration to clean up the trail and not say a word to anyone, as well as not allowing Wxkri to be able to speak over Hivenet to call for help, then I'd see reasonable cause to overturn whatever decision was made. Actions have consequences.
