  1. Thank you for pointing that out, because I think I may have worded that not in the best way(or not at all). I am aware that Skrell are emotional creatures and that humans (or other races in general) are just incapable of hearing the slight nuances in their speech, I think I just phrased that not very well.
  2. The science department looks absolutely awesome now. I like especially the new sublevel. Outstanding work. thank you.
  3. Prepare your warbles.

    1. Hendricks

      Hendricks

I'll show you my warbles if you show me yours.

    2. Scheveningen

      Scheveningen

Have you all lost your warbles?

  4. BYOND Key: KingOfThePing Character Names: Sei Armas, Dana Zirin, Ka'Akaix'Ven C'thur Species you are applying to play: Big Warbel Boys What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Fuck me, what do I know about RGB. It's a shade of white-ish, for reasons you'll see below. Maybe someone from the lore team can tell me the exact RGB colour is wanted for that. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I personally see Skrell as a very eloquent, proud and wise race and think it can be a certain challenge to live up to that. They have some very interesting mechanics like telepathy and erp'ing Srom dreaming. Since they are well established and a valuable ally to humans I imagine them being pretty much on the other social end as the Varuca (the race I applied last.), being respected and well integrated. They have a good cultural lore I can utilize and you all know I love to do that. I would love to explore the worlds, lives and culture of these intelligent, for greatness striving big head boys. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: I like how Skrell approach problems. Other races can and probably will be highly emotional and even though Skrell are far from being cold-hearted individuals they tend to try to always apply logic to a given problem and due to them living for literal centuries they can accumulate so much wisdon, other races can only dream about and that makes them so very intersting and different to play. I think this straight to the point thinking, talking and analysing situations (like, only pick the fights you are certain to win) are very interesting gameplay styles. Character Name: Quorrdash Fraseq Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs. Born in 2403 on the ice world of Aliose in Nralakk, a harsh, cold and unforgiving world. His parents both were, of course, scientists. His father's field of work was helping to develop weapon systems for the ships of the Federation Navy, while his mother seeked to improve medical treatments and helping to revert the effects of the sterilization of the Skrell, done by Glorsh-Omega. In her eyes fifty percent was just not enough. During his childhood, Quorrdash didn't have to worry about anything. He grew up sheltered, in the underground city of Fedas. He learned early, that hard work is it's own reward and the only thing that brings you forward in life, so he should always strive to improve himself and work as conscientious as possible. Both his parents worked directly for the Federation's government and so Quoordash evolved into a convinced patriot, deeply believing that only the Federation as a whole will stand the test of time. He follows the political happenings and is convinced the current government is on a good way, he himself voted for Grand Councillor Weashbi Jrugl. Quorrdash gave his best in school and his education, always asking, always seeking answers, so he had no problems with that. He knew he wanted to be a scientist one day, just like his parents. He hoped to make them proud, somehow, to show them that their efforts to make him the Skrell he is today were not in vain. He was most interested in Research and Development, high-tech devices, weapons, batteries, circuits, he didn't care. He did whatever he could work on. Later on he dipped a bit into the field of robotics and even though he is sure that he is adequate at it, RnD was his true interest he pursued. After school, Quorrdash left Fedas and his relationship with his parents deteriotated. He chose to work in a small research outpost, far away from his home city. Due to being half a world away, the contact with his parents was less and less frequent, due to distance and especially his workload. This, however, gave him only more reasons to work even harder. To make a discovery, an invention, anything really, so his parents would be proud of him again. But it all didn't work out. The great discovery didnt happen. The genius invention still hasn't been done today, and after some time he was unhappy with his situation. Quorrdash decided something has to change, so he made a decision. The decision to leave his home. To leave Aliose and try again, somewhere new. He eyed Tau Ceti and especially NanoTrasen. NT is known for great research facilities, opportunities to work on your own projects and to be paid adequately. So Quorrdash applied for a position in the science department. When asked on what station, he chose the NSS Upsilon, since it was apparently the state-of-the-art research facility in whole Tau Ceti and he thought that he, with his abilities and references would have an easy time getting accepted. But demand was high and he didn't make it. He was instead offered a position on the NSS Aurora, the former flagship research station. Even though this was not his dream-position, Quorrdash accepted the offer after short consideration. Maybe he could apply for a reassignment someday in the future. It was a place to start anew for him, which was enough. And so he made his way to Tau Ceti, a new world, a new chance, a new beginning. What do you like about this character? Quorrdash is a die hard patriot, with appreciation problems, regarding his parents. Smart, but still relatively young he hasn't seen too much of the universe yet, but he is eager to give his best to achieve his goals. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Is ok. Notes: n/a
  5. I've seen the new gasmasks are more common now. A lot of lockers on the surface have them, sometimes even two.
  6. With the obligatory hair pin in your sleeve, obviously.
  7. Same. The only regular priest/chaplain/whatever I saw for the past few weeks was Oscar
  8. More sounds are always welcome by me, to be honest *cough cough* breathing when on internals *cough*. When the sound level is balanced correctly I would very much like this change. +1 from me.
  9. As someone who plays paramedic very frequently (Ignore the last two weeks) I do not like the idea. It's true that you can occupy yourself with other stuff, to not die of boredom, but the main problem is that I do not see what this change adds to, anything really. Even now basically everyone can use medical supplies (Security even has some, near the Investigation Department) and adding this will, as others say, just make the EMT/paramedic slot more unappealing. A medical first responder is not supposed to only wheel a patient away, after some security guy has already attended their wounds. You heal very quickly anyway in ss13, so this all would just make one medical slot pretty much redundant.
  10. Zzeth is good colleague. Haz shown much and iz friendly. Helped a lot when firzt on Aurora. Zometimes too much drinking, not enough working, but izz okay? Ven approvezz of thiz application. +1
  11. Here you go: https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Luna
  12. Something like this. But would the heartbeat maybe is a tad too much. Isnt there even different breathing in Dead Space when Isaac is (heavily) injured? Something similar could be used when near/in crit maybe. Would be amazingly cool.
  13. Oh, playing dead. Misunderstood. Well....I guess. It's pretty pointless, but, alright. As I wasn't on up-to-date anyway with my suggestion, since I didn't knew that there was actually a verb to sccumb on Aurora. So, I guess that's that.
  14. Argument makes no sense. Why would you RP being dead - without actually being dead? also, the sentence the prompt produces appears automatically, when dying. So why have the emote if it serves no function, in any situation, ever?
  15. We do? Then forget about option b) and just remove it entirely, since it serves no (RP or otherwise) purpose.
  16. Alright, this is something very minor but hear me out on this one: The emote *deathgasp serves no purpose at all. Like, in any situation, ever. Except to meme around or to confuse people for 5 seconds. So here is what I suggest: a) Remove the emote entirely, it serves no purpose in it's current state b) Remake it's function like the following (or something similar): When being in paincrit and/or under a certain threshold in health it is usable, but instead of just producing just a sentence like now it makes you actually succumb to your injuries. Explanation for b) is easy. Sometimes you are dying, but not really or it takes 10 minutes without hope of rescue. You lie there, in your own blood, in paincrit, unconcious but unable to die. You could just ghost, but that's a shitty way out in my eyes. So having this as a way out could maybe be a good compromise. I hope you get what I want to say. No idea if this mechanic would be abused by the regular players or there are other grave red flags that speak against this change, so feel free to criticise this suggestion into the ground. It was something that came up and I wanted to write down before I forget it.
  17. Don't tell me you don't like Cheeto Man?
  18. Byond Key: KingOfThePing Character Names: Sei Armas, Natalie Pershing, Dana Zirin Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What colour do you plan on making your first alien character: RGB 55, 0, 120 Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes.... Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Vaurca are so immensly different from humans, it's terrifying. Their hirachy and social constructs are fascinating and they have a great in-depth lore, which I think is interesting to utilize. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: You feed off a highly lethal, poisonous mushroom-thingy to survive, which is already pretty...interesting. And dangerous. Vaurca are as alien as any of the races can get. The Vaurca are often distrusted, discriminated and just being viewed as cheap labour force. I think it's interesting to play in a, let's call it, disadvantageous social situation, when playing. The upside is, that I don't have to care much about depressurizing and vented areas anymore, or going EVA to avoid a dangerous situation. You also have a cool "telepathy" hivenet ability, which is way cooler than the Skrell's. I am interested to see how it plays to be on the recieving end of xeno-discrimination. Character Name: Ka'Akaix'Ven C'thur Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs: Born to Ta'Akaix'Xetl'jyatk'yatu C'thur, The Voracious Queen in 2458, Ven was raised and grown the same way as every other unbound worker, with half a year of organic development and another half year in VR to train him and form his personality. In the virtual world Ven decided that repairing, maintaining and constructing grand projects would benefit his hive and especially queen, the most. Ven first learned about the theory of structural engineering, electrical wiring, physics and thermodynamics and many more fields before constructing his first project in the virtual world. He is fascinated with the different materials used for construction, studying them in great detail, learning the different advantages and disadvantages and how to use them most efficiently. After that Ven was planning and constructing a multitude of projects, in varying size and complexity. He started with relatively easy projects, like structural sound corridors, bridges and catwalks but soon moved on to more complex topics, like shuttles, whole departments and in the end, his Magnum Opus, a virtual space station, fully functional and designed by himself. He, in his eyes, was the greatest engineer that has ever existed and told himself to use his abilities to bring his hive and his queen to new heights. He regularily shared his work within the construct with his queen and tried to please her and make her as proud as vaurca-ly possible. When leaving the virtual reality world, Ven quickly learned that reality is often disappointing. Unlike his expectations, he wasn't assigend to grand construction projects, as he thought he would be, at least at first. Soon, though, as more and more engineering teams were requested by the Skrell, he also started to help constructing the underwater colony projects within Glorashi, among other things. He felt significant and important again and with every assigend project, he gave his everything to please his queen and represent her, as he was taught. The Skrell he met in Glorashi were accepting him and his hive and that mislead him to thinking it would be like this in the whole universe. He was wrong. When he was sent to Tau Ceti, to work for NanoTrasen it was a hard time for him. Not only does he have to be an engineering apprentice again, since the corporation did not acknowledge him as a fully fledged engineer, but he learned that not everyone is as accepting of him and his brothers as the Skrell were in Glorashi. All that matters little to him, or so he thought, since it has gotten increasingly difficult to remain calm and ignore the discrimination he recieved lately. All that keeps him going is his undying devotion for his hive and especially, his Queen. What do you like about this character? The queen loves her Ka, and this Ven loves his queen above all else. He overcame the disappointments he experienced in his life cycle, because of his devotion to his queen. All he wants it so make his queen proud. Letting her down would be an error he wouldn't forgive himself. Also, his age, with 2 years and a bit is very young. He still learns about the world outside the virtual reality and is still met with everyday challenges. How would you rate your role-playing ability: Rating yourself is presumptuous, but I think my roleplaying is alright. Notes: Any feedback or critique, no matter if positiv or negative would me appreciated.
  19. What's up guys, small penis here, Today I played medical and got approached by a crewmember with empty medical records if I could do a complete physical on them, so I took the standard medical record template (found here: https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Guide_to_Character_Records) and went into the examination room to talk to the patient and fill out the record (so he could put it into his character setup medical record). Then I noticed something. You cannot actually...examine much in the examination room. Sure you can do the grabby-inspecty stuff and fiddle around with the sthetoscope and penlight but not too much else. The third and fourth thing on the records is "Height" and "Weight" and I noticed you have no way to actually determine that as a doctor. So here is my suggestion: Add tape measure and a scale to the examination rooms. It could work like this: When using the tape measure on a person said person gets a prompt to write their desired height into said prompt, which is then seen by the person measuring. Something like "after carefully using the tape measure you could determine that this person is NUMBER UNIT tall." Basically the same with the scale. Someone steps on it, the doctor (or person itself) left clicks on it and a prompt for the person on it pops up. again, what was typed in appears as a message, visible for all nearby. "after a short time the marker on the scale settles down at NUMBER UNIT." As usual I do not know how much work is needed for such a, some would say, mundane suggestion but it would add some RP possibilities on extended rounds and may encourage some medical players to call in more people for physicals. Some developer input here would be appreciated.
  20. I don't think you can say much about Burgers roleplay. I am wondering why he hasn't applied for a command whitelist before. I like Diamond with Flaw and FLAWED very much (Roza is an asshat, though.). +1. Diamond will make a nice CMO. Good luck!
  21. Alright, this looks great and I think is pretty well made. Only complaint: Due to the redesign the freezer in the sublevel containing some O- blood packs was removed (It was the one near the isolation cells) and this leaves medical with only two packs in the ICU locker, when not having a CMO/Doctor. Could the freezer be re-added to a location where all (!) medical personnel has access to it? Main Storage....ICU itself.....anywhere, really.
  22. Isnt the sense of the gasmask also obscuring...your...face?
