  1. I think we should go for the EVA-tied Distress Beacon route for a couple reasons: 1) ICly, an EVA-bound beacon would be able to transmit it's signal much better than one all snug up inside, the signals would be able to spread slightly faster and much more broader in whatever semi-encrypted frequency it's using. This could be used to explain why Pirates would get it instead of ERT, maybe the signal just bounced to them while ERT was busy and before TCFL could launch 2) It makes sense as a company decision. Think about it, NT has ensured there is no way a crew member can be without internals with all the Emergency Lockers scattered about. Hell, there are so many lockers, we often forget about them and how easy it is to hide in one when being chased. But yeah, if NT has the beacon tied to the roof or some EVA position, it allows it to be used in a better emergency. Command isn't onstation 24/7 and sometimes only 1 is brought to the station, if that person is killed from a surprise Lii'dra attack or from the rare terrorist, the crew is FUCKED unless they get the spare....which was probably stolen. Having someone, a vaurca, or literally anyone (since everyone has access to 6-minute lasting EVA gear) be able to go full Die Hard and scale the station to get and activate the beacon allows for emergencies to be handled. It also enables ALL of the crew to call for help, not just 5 people who will be prime targets by external threats 3) Imagine being an antagonist and joining a party of people going EVA to activate the beacon with the thing being that you plan on backstabbing them. Maybe you push one off when they're separated, now they're going to crudely die, echoing your name into the void as the others are now cautious. You pick off another with a makeshift weapon you have and when they're about to activate the beacon, you whack them off. Now the beacon hasn't been activated and anyone else who comes out will have to deal with you. It'll give chills.
  2. The only argument I've seen against a xeno or two being able to know is that "if the xenos can learn that, why can't humans be able to learn theirs". I don't see the point in having arbitrary things that make no sense ICly. Yes, a Unathi, Tajaran, or Vaurca may be unable to talk in Sol Common correctly (especially Vaurcae since their speech is fucked up), but then you get to the Skrell who can pronounce things on a higher sound spectrum humans can't fathom...and they can't speak this language that's super low in comparison?
  3. Hell yeah! Just make it so the Javelin needs a Sonic Jackhammer to be made. For what's listed as it's ingredients, it would be incredibly easy for a traitor scientist to make a WMD and just dismember fools from afar. Jackhammers take a while to get at least. You'd need to wait until 20-30 minutes into the round at least. 40-60 at most.
  4. No. Vox can only exist as Merchant or Raider, both of which will happen about every 8 rounds, sometimes it might happen back-to-back if you're lucky. This also isn't the first time this suggestion has appeared here, and each time, most have said no. A simple way to counter this is just by having the Inviolate auto-spawn in a Vox's memory, in bold red too, so the player knows to follow it.
  5. Oh yes, please. I've been DYING to have laptops in Loadout and NOT waste all of my money as visitor.
  6. Oh, nice. It's not much of a problem in my book and would allow people to know something's going on and there might be someone watching them, but ok.
  7. I'd support this, but it's not that hard to use the cloak in my opinion. All you need to do is activate your EPG, have 9k power and then use your cloak to waltz around the place. It drains 50-100 power per second which I think is fine. This means that, at max, you'll have only 1 minute and 40 seconds to be fully invisible or 3 minutes and 20 seconds, but the player usually teleports away into maint, use their EPG a few times to get out of low power (3k and such) and get back to high-power so they don't have to worry about accidentally decloaking. I think the short time you have for being cloaked is nice, and makes sure the ninja can't be cloaked for 5-10 minutes, only losing 10 or 20 power every couple of seconds; this forces you to actually give a shit about being cloaked and think about juking correctly. One thing, how is the Cloaking actually loud?
  8. I think this would be easier if we, you know, actually had racism in some parts of the regulations. Everyone's too afraid to be racist because they think it'll shut them off from rp opportunities when it doesn't even do that, and people have started to forget that xenophobia is common and sometimes whiteknight racists as if NT would give a shit.
  9. You mean semi-sapient? A computer would have no reason to be able think outside of just the initial things it was initially programmed if it's just a death machine meant to do nothing more than terminate anything that isn't infrastructure.
  10. Hmm, yes. Today, I will ascend to Fred Furner. Welcome aboard.

  11. Hm, yes. Today I will change my pfp to a freakish alien while singing to Manowar's Hail and Kill. The epitome of humanity.

But I'm not singing to Manowar because I was imagining it. Har har!

      EDIT: This pfp sucks.

  12. PAPA BLESS Mmm yes, please. While Ling rounds aren't horrendous now, most of the time they end in horrorform- crew is scared and dying, but the horrorform is either murderboning and not being theatrically scary, or they're unrobust because roleplayers forget Horrorform is the most combat-based element of Changeling. The ability to queue for Stealth Absorbs allows for you to really hurry up if you're succing someone in maint, but feel like Security is coming or an EMT is running to them because you only now set sensors. Now, for the part I love the most about this: Making it so Changelings automatically get creepier and such the more DNA they have automatically sets the atmosphere for the crew, and the Changeling can go along with it, even if they aren't all too great at the horror aesthetic. By just changing their speech patterns to the scariest thing the player can imagine, they're already fitting the round for what it can be because the way they've probably been absorbing all round is already saying "Character isn't who they seem" and the player can adapt to it, either switching to more violent and more noticable murders in maintenance, or just switch their personality and go "Yes, I am a ling, and I am stronger than I was when I was acting just a wee suspicious. I am the Villain, and you fight me. Muhahahaha!"
  13. People aren't complaining about pumping about 1, they're complaining about 4 being pumped out any chance there is to fully arm security for literally any threat possible each round, but I digress. What's the point of mounting stuff to it when you could hold a bunch of extra and just-as-useful items in your backpack?
  14. How about we just not pump out RIGs like they're candy in the first place? Also, what's the point of this RIG if it has the same armor value as an officer's vest? RIGs take time to disable and put off & take away the GLORIOUS backpack slot. Implementing this seems like it'd only make Security weaker unless non-security is meant to wear it?
  15. DDoS
  16. No, just no. This violates all logic, just wear normal glasses.
  17. -1 for not using the correct plural Tajara Jupiter is good. I remember seeing them in the past, and they were good, and now I see them again, they're even better now. +1
  18. No wonder it looks familiar.
  19. Is that Night Vale
  20. I want this now. Also, as Satin said, nothing mentioned here is difficult, period, and it's not like the wiki wouldn't be updated to accommodate it. Sure, it's long in text, but it's not hard to do in actuality. And it's not like we need chefs pumping out 10 burgers within 5 minutes anyways.
  21. I don't like this. Becoming a Thrall or Vampire is something you metaphorically signed in the metaphorical contract by joining Secret. If you don't like the current antag, becoming an antag means you can try to at least make the round better for others. I don't see what's so bad about it, and it's not like Resist options do much. The Antagonist will either murder you or just shard you to become a construct, it's all a placebo to me.
  22. Yeah, but name one other game besides what I listed that has as much players as ss13. It's "BYOND" because it seemingly is what's keeping BYOND in life support and not going full dead.
  23. I would really like this to become a thing. Everything right now seems to be more facilitated towards "habitation with research in the background" than "research with slight habitation for breaks" and I really think people overreact when it comes to buying drinks. How the fuck would NT ever be able to know exactly how much food you want for when you work for them, the exact price they'd all come to, and do that for every damn employee when they could just be greedy and force you to pay for them.
  24. Actually, it's eight.
