1. I for one think it should remain as-is. Why the heck are we changing this again? People who get this done to them usually don't have it done out of the blue. And if the time it last changes, the cooldown until it can be used again should also decrease proportionally. I'd also like to see who ghosts in frustration to this spell, as said in that PR.
2. First things first. Here's the previous thread: https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?p=98580&sid=0e6e432f0e1127f6d884304e7a7af15d#p98580 BYOND Key: itanimulli
3. I am utterly and completely moist.
4. Maneuvering thrusters and leg actuators seem like something that should already be in the suit. High tech space ninja but with absolutely no preperation to do anything in space? Why!?
5. Well, I guess the only real thing to point out that I could help you with is to always base your gimmick around one or two people (if you're"re going to kill people) or to have a material motive like espionage or 'liberating the pets.' You can't be an ... actual ninja and pick off people one by one before they know what hit them, because bwoink.
6. It's been a while. I vote yes. Sort of. I wanna see what the finished product would look like. It should just have sliders and score you that way. And if you know too much your score becomes "questionable" and you must consult an admin. Of course you wouldn't be scored on really dumb stuff.
7. Alright-y then. Consider those separate, uh......thingies. I'm looking to create a more serviceable looking chassis for the less important jobs (Standard, clerical, basically anything on this submission that looks like the X-division sprites), even though I play them a bit less. I might also wish to unify the other (Humanoid) chassis under a single name, For simplification's sake. X-NIR (Experimental Nanotrasen Industrial Robot)? Lemme know what you think of that.
8. None of anything I am doing in this update so far as even the slightest bearing on IPCs being cultists. I plan to tackle their interaction with the cult much farther down the line, because 'they turn into constructs' is a passable stopgap while I'm working on making something more solid. Frankly, I still don't think they deserve to be in cult, but I recognize that there are some ooc stipulations about player antag participation that need to be met for 'fairness' on the server. Now for the rest. Because what we have is a steaming pile of half decade old, poorly coded garbage that needs more fixed than 'a blood vein overlay to justify muh ipc cultists'. It's completely stagnant and one of the least popular round types for a reason. I don't see what significance that has. Confusion is a result of not understanding something and that is corrected by learning about it and experiencing the new thing. "It will confuse people for a while" is not a reason to never innovate. Good idea. I'll put it on the list. 1: You've addressed this twice in one post for no reason. It was more nitpicking about dionea, which are often the reason cult rounds are so unfun. 2: Never said don't innovate. I for one don't disagree with a majority of these reworks, and if the server had actual roundtypes that focused on species types and could be mushed together with outher antags more often, I'd have no issue with half the tings you rework about cult. 3: I'm glad you're actually going to do this.
9. This is literally what people were saying about IPCs, but you didn't want to agree to that.
10. Why didn't we just leave everything as-is and have blood-vein overlays for all of the non-bleeding beings? What this rework does is make everything really confusing and creates issues that originally weren't even present before. With all this rather over-the-top changing in mind, every cult being that doesn't have red blood should have their own rune color, since we want to go fro 'muh realism.' The only thing I feel this will allow in terms of goodness is anti-meta-gaming, as now people coming in for low blood won't make medical scream inwardly about the vamp that they now know is on-station.
11. Ling could be another 'group' type mode in which the ling spreads it's influence by removing one's genomes, and then outright rewriting them, thus converting the assailed individuals into another changeling. "But that's just cult,'" one asks. Nay, it's not to a discernible endgame. That will be decided by the gimmick/whatever. Too op? Nah, not really. Each new ling looks like the original ling. Perhaps, even, these 'sub-lings' could look like whatever the original ling looks like at the time.
12. My phone's been destroyed by careless water-spilling and a short fall to a hard floor. Otherwise, I'd have done it; I've done it in the past to ask for people to cryo me. The other side is that my family seems to live in a time-space of their own, in which two additional seconds is too long to take. To put it in perspective, these people, up until recently, didn't know that multiplayer games couldn't be paused.
13. BYOND Key: itanimulli Total Ban Length: Permanent. Banning staff member's Key: Aboshehab... Reason of Ban: Banned from Head of Security, Warden, Detective, Forensic Technician, Security Officer, Security Cadet - Continous round start logging off. This trend has occured too many times so I'm applying a permanent security department ban. Page 5/6 (22 entries) Reason for Appeal: Life in general has been hectic. One does not always know when IRL will interfere with the round, and there have been multiple times that I've simply been pulled away from the computer. I've had to stop playing lately, for a while, because graduations have been left and right, and if I start up a round of spess and then have to go, but don't have time to ahelp (I have an extremely impatient family), I fear I'll just be banned from something else. Though, i'm unsure how someone might be banned from assistant. Also, I'd no clue the ban happened until I asked catnip about it.
14. Oh, god, please. The very instance you've described temporarily made me unable to interpret the definition of a gank, or understand the rules concerning the removal of a player from a round. This is a huge step in the right direction, and might lead to people, perhaps, thinking twice about gung-ho EMP spam. Even if there's a five minute length of time before a borg can do the 'ol SOS, I'd like to see it happen. Major +1.
15. If it is a nonissue then please pick a jacket with similar armor values to the pr. Such as a leather jacket, bomber jacket, or similar. i'm currently awaiting for the new sprite for the jacket from @Itanimulli. If the PR gets approved and the sprite would still not be ready i could add one of the existing jackets to replace the trenchcoaItanimulliItanimulliItanimulli Er. Please DM details. This must have slipped my mind. (EDIT: Nevermind. I remember. Just been busy irl.)
16. Was initially for, but the concerns raised have turned me against. They are extremely valid points. -1.
17. I think it's easier to explain it this way: Whereas the Tau drone draws heavy inspiration, people are against this(?) because it is literally just an eyebot. The drone sprite has enough differences from any quick search of 'tau drone' to make it stand alone. This does not. Is that correct, guys?
18. I'd simply like to point out that most of the arguments FOR have been for reasons surrounding RP and the fact that this particular roundtype has and is still supposed to be a cooperative antagonist group. The 'against' side has pointed out that there are mechanics that they dislike, and that they don't understand how magic works on some things and not others. Initially, this post was going to be me calling out Kaed for initially putting up ideas that completely remove a player from a round, with no apparent ability to rejoin except 20 minutes later as a different character. However, it got so large, and became such a rant, that I decided to cut myself off. It also may have ended up ad hominem, because it brought up my issues with how some of his own (earlier) arguments in this thread went against reasons he's ahelped individuals before. If you'd like to have drawbacks for IPC cultists, you already have them. The strengths already make up for this. The only really valid issue was blood drawing runes, and yet an administrator has leaned in my direction in terms of a simple solution, which is simply making the runes take longer to draw because said IPC would have to transmute it's oil into blood. I for one like interaction, and the in-character questions, that IPC cultists give rise to. If you don't understand why an IPC is suddenly religiously devout to something it now believes in (perfectly believable because logical proof of it's existence has already been confirmed after conversion), make like any other player and find out ICly. If you don't feel like IPCs have any capabilities to be religious, become as gods. And please detonate if you do not understand that reference. ps I'm also tired of people trying to kill off references but that's another post in itself.
19. Now, I usually would agree with you, a character who bounces around until they find a nice fit for them is pretty good usually, but that just doesn't work for IPCs. IPCs are purpose-built, made to fit a certain role. They're physically incapable of knowing more than a few jobs, and are *very* expensive. That's the point here. The purpose was lost after [company] went out of business. They don't know] anything. At the moment, that purpose is probably 'maintain station' but with no clear guidelines as to how.
20. I'm gonna +1 this because I can't wait to see where this goes. I'm going to take a few moments to make some guesses (And hopefully you'll humor them). You mean for this character to find themselves through interaction with other characters. RP material confirmed. You mean for this character to essentially assist with whatever is needed until they find the niche they most easily fit into. RP material confirmed, but it'll be different than cyborgs. People assume horrible things oocly about undepartmentalized assistants. I wish you luck. It will be extremely enjoyable to see a character like this. However, I'd like for you to expand on the backstory just a smidge. The only real thing needed is how the quack they got onto the aurora in the first place. Something like "all of my kind were purchased by NT from [company] for [reason]" or something would suffice, I'm guessing. I do wonder what cake would think of this as a character idea. I already took note that you've read alot of the lore page, but I'm not the lore master, so take this post with a grain of salt. Again, though. +1.
21. I'm thinking it's more along the idea of free thought. If something is able to change it's mind, it'd be easier to manipulate. With IPCs, much like converted athiests, you're giving them something to serve, not giving them a sermon. With borgs, you're essentially trying to argue with a reporter. Sure, you can bring up valid points, but in the end they're just there to read off the questions they were told to read off to you. Well, enough with disagreements. I support the artificer idea Branching off from that: perhaps go as far as to have each subspecies be a different type of construct. G2 Juggernaut memes. Just a thought.
22. I could even posit that as an IPC player yourself, you have a strong-prebuilt bias towards wanting to be included because changes personally affect you. Yes that is the point. Consider the effect on other players. You make PRs all the time because of the personal opinions that you craft from situations that affect you.
23. So you've got a 100% lizard roster and are trying to decide the fate of an entire race you don't play for an entire round-type? Wow. Please don't. Anyhow, can someone give me an example of a point in time in which a species-whitlisted cultie just killed themselves? Is everyone ignoring that it's very easy to get nanopaste? Why is the analogue of constructs to synthetics not a good one? The constructs are synthetic. Unnatural. Made by something other than nature. The more you try and defend taking them out, the less I'd like to concede to any changes, because before, I've NEVER had an issue with being an IPC cultist unless another player was simply bad at the cult round. As in running through the halls roundstart with armor on attacking the crew bad.
