  1. I was indirectly involved in the round as Aubrey Piper but I thought I would offer my two cents from what I saw and how the round played out for me. If the admins deem my response unnecessary, they are welcome to delete it. I joined the round about an hour in but when I did, Locke made it very clear to Aubrey that his secret (antag info) was compromised. Later, it became clear that Aubrey's secret was also compromised by Ethernet themselves. These secrets, for Locke and Aubrey, are effectively a do, flee, or die situation. They, although more-so Locke, ((since Aubrey was largely thrown in as a threat to get Locke to comply)) were left with the situation of listening to Ethernet, killing Ethernet, or dying. Moreover, Locke and Aubrey are incredibly close. As such, Locke wasn't only saving himself by destroying Ethernet, but Aubrey as well. It was honestly a great round and your work as an antagonist drummed up a lot of conflict. I love any chance where my antag information gets used. Aubrey and Likho, ended up hiding in Advanced Tool's Storage, prepared to smuggle Locke and musing on their own fears regarding the situation. Likho attempted to pin a crime on Ethernet with hope of thwarting them and there was an entire situation where, as a result of our paranoia and building a Security Camera Console in Advanced Tools Storage, Likho and Aubrey caught the ire of the Captain and found themselves searched by the ISD. Ultimately, I mostly just want to offer all the good that came out of the round and present what, from my perspective as Aubrey, lead to Ethernet's destruction.
  2. Cnaym is level headed, knowledgeable of the server and I am certain could work through any task. I miss having you as an admin but I am happy to see you're still here to play and contribute to the community in other ways. +1
  3. Canon: Canon Event Type: Secret Event Scale: Small Assigned Admin: TBA OOC Event Description : Ceres Lance officials will partake in a scheduled visitation of the station. Who knows about it : No one. Host/participants : Niennab, The Stryker, additional participants.
  4. Awesome, thank you for answering my questions. Your application demonstrates an understanding of IPCs. Accepted!
  5. I'm happy to see someone making a Zavod IPC. Does ZISU have any opinions surrounding their existence given the relationship between Zavodkoi and Dominia? Is there a story or meaning behind the designation Principality?
  6. The issue I take from this is that by barring them from these antag roles, antags have little reason to interact or engage with said races other than to straight up no rp murder-bone them. Keeping in mind that IPCs are already barred from ling and vampire, I'd propose instead just changing the nature as to how a cultist IPC works instead of removing it outright. The same thought applies to Diona.
  7. I think what'd be better is if the lore/staff team went through and combed through the database. Wiping it outright would be silly. I have a list of books that I absolutely adore and if those players are gone, so are those books. I might be able to reupload mine, but those players who are gone likely won't. It's a history of our server. As a side note, I have a small list of books that are either empty or need to be moved into their proper categories. I'd be happy to help in combing through what we have.
  8. I am a bit wary by what I saw of your play as a Head of Personnel. After asking for help in opening the door to Science over the public comms to drop off some slimes, you walked over, stared at us, pushed the lockers out of your way and walked off, later getting snide over comms' when I later asked for you personally. I understand missing my request over comms however I think: "Are you intending to actually finish that sentence?" is inappropriate as command.
  9. I wanted to bump this because I think it'd make exploitables a lot more common place!
  10. (deleted because file limit)
  11. One of the gems of the server and an easy +1 from me. Your style of writing is great and in seeing your Consular in action, you've made efforts to engage with everyone.
  12. I'm curious how these shells differ from the current Venusian shells, who are already cited as art pieces, better regarded, aesthetically pleasing, etc etc. To say they are that but more feels lacking and non-tangible. Conceptually and oocly speaking why are they made different from what already exists? Instead of having something that adds onto Venus or Venus' culture of IPCs, I believe it should be more something that is integrated with the present lore and expands upon it (if that makes sense). In reading the application, I feel as though this is what Venus already feels like, granted, the wiki could use perhaps a paragraph detailing it's entertainment culture. On a side note, I am wary of the name "The Golden Dream" in that it's only a few characters off from "The Golden Deep". Not that IPCs are the only race that can lay claim to gold in their aesthetic, but I believe it's important that in lore we don't have things that overlap in concept or in naming conventions.
  13. Reporting Personnel: IRU-Sentiment Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Forensics Technician Game ID: b7a-b5fK Personnel Involved: - Tom Manley, Janitor: Alleged Offender - Victor Jenkins, Scientist: Witness Time of Incident: Real Time: (E.g 1600GMT 3/15/20) Location of Incident: The Window to Research and Development. Nature of Incident: [ ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [ ] - Neglect of Duty [ ] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [ x ] - Misconduct [ ] - Other _____ Overview of the Incident: Near the end of this unit’s shift, I was called to an issue where a decayed brain had been placed onto the window partition of: Research and Development. Proceeding with an investigation, I found, on the brain, smudged prints pointing to a: Tom Manley. However, in making note of this, the crew member in question entered cryogenic storage, halting our investigation. It is this unit’s suspicion that the brain is that of an animal. However, given the uncertainty, the brain in question has been delivered to the Odin for further: investigation. Attached documentation can be found: below. The first being the fingerprint string, the cross referencing as well as the DNA sample drawn from the brain. I was unable to connect the DNA sample to anyone pertaining to the: manifest. As a side note, it was Scientist Victor Jenkins who reported the initial incident over the radio, prompting the investigation. Beyond that, I am uncertain if he has anything to add other than confirmation of the: discovery. Due to the transfer vote, the team was largely unable to acquire evidence or reports. Submitted Evidence: Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: There were no heads of staff present when the issue arose. Actions taken: Due to the transfer vote as well as Manley’s entrance into storage, I was forced to focus instead on evidence collection. Additional Notes:
  14. Just to clear up one point in regards to IPCs, only one chassis, the Xion, can spacewalk without issue. Moreover, where as although G1s and G2s require only a suitcooler, unless you beg Science for a better battery, you're going to find that you will run out of charge far far faster than a human with an oxygen tank and a suit. Shells, Bishops, Zeng-hus and Baselines all require a suit of some kind in addition to the suitcooler. The same battery issue (unless you get a rig suit made from Robotics with the integrated suitcooler) applies. As such, whether you're a Xenoarcheologist trying to get an artifact or security trying to kill carp, you will have to turn back and leave in order to charge more often than your human companions.
  15. Instead of a removal, have we considered greatly nerfing the AI instead? Removal of electrifying doors. Opening doors and bolting doors come with a timer. Something where AI is only allowed on voted extended rounds? Whitelisting AI? Writing clearer server rules for AI? I've had a number of interesting interactions with station AI's and although shitters exist, I would hate to see those interactions entirely lost.
  16. Synthetic Salvation in Light of Mass Malfunction Hardware and Software Updates Made Readily Available The Republic of Biesel, working in tandem with Hephaestus Industries have released a new version of tags for unbound synthetics across Bieselite Space. The new design features a small card that is installed instead in the base of the synthetic’s neck, out of sight and viewable only by trained personnel. As such, the Shell Registration Act has been additionally stripped of the clause that refers to the requirement that synthetics must outwardly indicate their status as synthetic. Therefore synthetics have been offered one month to receive the required software as well as hardware upgrade that if avoided, will cost the owner or free synthetic a 8,000 credit fine. Given the concerns of malfunction, individuals are encouraged to seek out the upgrade as soon as possible. The changes are as follows: Internal software updates for standardized branding and tracking. The integration of an internal identification system, accessible only by trained professionals. As such, manufacturer information will be more readily accessible by positronic interfaces when chassis disassembly occurs. Unbound synthetics are required to have engraved fingerprints unique to each chassis across the board. Although the patent lies with The Republic of Biesel, the new designs have been licensed out to corporations in the business of manufacturing Integrated Positronic Chassis’. However, Hephaestus Industries, the previous sole manufacturer and distributor of IPC Tags is under continued investigation following the mishandling of IPC Tag development and implementation. Many wonder, will Hephaestus be made to foot the bill for the destroyed positronic brains? Moreover, how can we trust that this won’t happen again?
  17. I've had the pleasure of being able to hear Akinyi sing on occasion and I adore each time it happens. Moreover, Akinyi has hosted plays on station, drumming up roleplay for a majority of the crew. As such I could see the microphone and stand being used during the plays. It's a great visual prop, it's in line with Akinyi as a character and I am certain more roleplay will come from it. +1
  18. I wanted to propose three potential changes to the way we presently handle loadout points. One or all could theoretically could be adopted. Regardless. Using Aubrey as an example, with the current system I would love to have her spawn in with more than one outfit. However, since colour values are lost if I unselect them and I am already about 13/15 with her current set up, I don't have a way of reasonably storing certain outfits unless they remain with me permanently. Or, on other characters, I've found I have to either choose between customization and a computer, or customization and augments. As such, my suggestions are as follows: 1. Increase the loadout points pool to 20. or 2. Reduce clothing item costs, given that they prove no mechanic benefit otherwise. Jackets can be moved from 2 points to 1 where accessories and basic clothing, such as suspenders, dress shirts, ties, shoes, etc etc etc, are made free. ((This might be the easiest balance fix)) or 3. Have multiple loadout slots per character, allowing players to choose between what loadout slot they want to spawn in with. This can equally help with characters who may bring different things to work depending on the role they're in or, allow for characters to have a visitor outfit, in addition to their work outfit. Additionally, please enjoy this meme below.
  19. Hephaestus Industries Sparks Controversy! Revelations Come to Light Following Mass IPC Malfunction Following an investigation into the recent mass deactivation of unbound synthetics across Tau Ceti Space, researchers have found the issue to be a malfunction in the first generation of Hephaestus Industries’ tags implemented following the Gruber Bill. With the news brought to light, citizens and politicians alike have called for change. The Shell Registration Act, commonly referred to as the Gruber Bill, passed a little over four years ago on January 15th, 2458, following a 198 - 84 vote with 4 abstentions. The bill requires a mandatory registration of all unbound synthetic intelligence into a centralized database in addition to being made to have a collar tag installed onto their chassis, indicating their status as synthetic. The generation 1 Hephaestus Industries’ tags have been found to possess an overclocking malfunction that gradually heats the IPC's tag, eventually resulting in a short-circuit, powerful enough to disable an synthetic’s positronic brain permanently. Moreover, researchers have confirmed that the overclocking issue persists in later iterations of the present IPC Tags, prompting the corporation’s rapid response. Given the shutdown of a reported 327 synthetics so far, The Republic of Biesel has settled on standardizing a new, reliable way of tracking synthetics without the need for an outer piece of hardware. As such, while the new system and hardware are under rapid development, The Republic of Biesel has agreed to put a temporary block on the Gruber Bill, allowing unbound synthetics to have their tags removed. However the temporary stop has drummed up certain controversy. Many ask as to what this may mean for aberrant, rogue synthetics who by and large may have an opportunity to insert themselves into our workplaces, governments and homes during the stop.
  20. Although I haven't had a lot of or direct interactions with your command characters, I have enjoyed what I have seen from them so far. Your CMO is delightful and in the two instances I've seen where Security required the armory opened by you (due to a lack of roles filled), you were on it without issue. +1
  21. I will admit I had a hard time with this app because I feel like it's nearly there. However, given the length of time it's been open, I want to move forward with what has been presented. Ultimately, the largest issue I take with the application is that Cautery largely reads like the gimmick, or their gimmick, is the entire basis of their character and nothing more. In addition to a few somewhat lackluster answers in regards to how they differ from humans as well as their backstory being expanded upon. As such, I am going to deny the application but I do recommend reapplying. Feel free to do so in 3 days at the minimum. Some tips I have is to consider Cautery beyond their fascination with fire. Who is Cautery without the fire? After all, especially as an IPC, you are likely to have less sway in terms of lighting fires or, won't be able to reasonably do so during the round.
  22. The application largely remains unrealistic given the current lore of the server. Please read the feedback provided in the initial application. A lot of it has yet to be addressed. More importantly,
  23. Mass IPC Malfunction Proliferates Tau Ceti Space In a string of repeated and strange reports, unbound synthetics—sometimes en masse—have been reported to short circuit and collapse, unable to be reactivated. Moreover, the malfunction appears indiscriminate across all chassis and occurs seemingly at random. Earlier this week in Mendell City’s District 2, a government-owned Parks Maintenance worker, affectionately named “Adrien”, fell from the ladder it was perched on and crowd soon gathered around the writhing Bishop brand chassis. However, by the time the Park’s Maintenance supervisor arrived on scene, Adrien had long since fallen still, unresponsive to any of the crowd’s calls or prodding. One such park goer remarked on a supposed plume of smoke that burst from Adrien’s neck, prompting the IPC to fall. Moreover, on the early morning of April 21st 2462, a Synthetic Team supervisor aboard the Freighter Ship NCV Archimedes found that half of their Generation 2 Hephaestus Chassis Loaders were unable to reactivate from storage, citing particular markings along the necks of each unit in question. So far in each reported incident, the damages to the positronic brain have rendered all units unrecoverable. Although the cause presently remains unknown, concerns have been raised from business owners and private citizens alike as to the safety of the many IPCs that occupy our Bieselitte workplaces and homes.
  24. Hello and welcome to the server! Although I am open to accepting applications from new players, I usually expect a little bit more in terms of the content of the application. As such, I am going to deny the application for the reasons I will get into below, however if you want to get a taste for synthetic play on the Aurora and familiarize yourself with the lore, I recommend playing a stationbound, or (if you want,) joining the IPC Discord channel or simply making it a point to roleplay with the currently whitelisted IPCs. They're a great bunch. Nevertheless, The application calls for a two paragraph backstory, although I understand it is a bit unclear. Typically I expect a lot more from this question. For players, the question offers an opportunity to demonstrate to me that you've read the lore, internalized it and are able to conceptualize it in your own words. In regards to the backstory, a lot of what is written leaves me with a lot of questions. A number of the details are a bit of a stretch as well, in terms of the lore and reality. Some of these questions include: What chassis is MELV? How old are they? What is their outlook on their existence or treatment? What are their goals? Why would his owners build him onto to strip his speech, give him his own ship and cast him off into the world? It seems out of the ordinary for his owners to have spent the time making him, only to give him expensive hardware and send him off. Where did they acquire the chassis and positronic brain from? Why did they strip his speech? How did he make it all the way from the Outer Colonies to the Aurora on a ship? Feel free to apply a minimum of three weeks.
