Hello Aimlessanalyst. You where banned on 2/7/2020. You ahelped a vampire player who in your mind was breaking the rules. The vampire was consistently running from security with its veil walk ability and taunting sec over the radio. You believe the antag was not properly contributing to the server's enjoyement. I had a short discussion with you in which i gathered some preliminary information and then I bwoinked the vampire in question. The ahelp ended with me telling you "I did speak to them but it seems they where fucked regardless of what they did". You where not happy with my judgement and went into OOC where you joined in a very heated discussion over the round. You made some very rude remarks to me and the antag. The round restarted and i bwoinked you informing you that i would be giving you a final warning for your rude comments. Not just to me but to other players as well. You accused me of singling you out, claimed you had hated my guts ever since i was a trial and that i was a hippie reject. So yes after all of that i did ban you. You where banned because you had racked up a history of being very rude in ahelps and being rude to other community members. That being said three years is a long time. We have an internal policy of the first permaban a player acquires to be fairly easy to appeal. This is your first permaban and its so old to not really ask too many questions. I am ok with lifting the ban.

This seems more like it would be a player complaint against sycmos? Not making a judgement on the behavior at this time but it doesn't appear it has anything to do with this position as a staff member.

Read looks to have just been the messenger so this complaint will be handled by the lore heads.

Could be neat. I am ok with this. Opens the door for more staff complaints but it is what it is. Theres a lot of hoops to jump through spicing up a round even if you want to. An open door policy for expeditions sounds neat.

So, here are my thoughts here. I want to do my best to provide what I believe is a measured response. It is certainly true that lavilla is a staff member and that condoning or supporting harassing, rude or disparaging comments even in private is probably not something a staff member should be doing. It is certainly true that lisek's comment was inappropriate despite whatever misgivings they have with botanist as a person. Does this mean lavilla is guilty of owning a "metaclique"? Well.... We can see in the screenshot lavilla is criticizing botanist's application due to their past cited work. "I-love-meat" consists of themes that are generally not appropriate for the server. Themes that are even banned explicitly from on-server roleplay scenes. Thus, it is certainly fair from my point of view to criticize an applicant for creating work not necessarily conducive to our server's themes. While you're correct lavilla that a post saying "-1 what you wrote was sus" would certainly not be helpful a post that says something like "Hey you created this work some years ago that clashes with out server climate. Why do you hold it as an example of work to show your capabilities for a lore postion?". The latter gives botanist the chance to respond to the criticism. You yourself have been through the applicant process for a lore position lavilla. I am sure you can understand why botanist might be frustrated at comments being made about him in private where he cant respond to them. That being said this is a level of scrutiny that is several orders of magnitude greater than a couple comments in a friend discord would warrant. I sincerely doubt you considered the comment you made (or lisek's) anything more than a 5 second thought as you went about your day. I also do not think you're operating an unhealthy metaclique based on what evidence we have here. I would need to see comments indicating direct support for hateful comments directed at community members, calls for brigading a thread, targeted harassment of individuals through our community channels. Things of that nature. Danse has a point. The unfortunate reality of discord (and the internet as a whole) is that it is incredibly easy to create an echo chamber for yourself. In our roleplay community it is inevitable you will meet characters and players you vibe with and those you dont. It is all too easy to create community's and groups that bring those you vibe with closer together and push those you dont further away. On most levels i believe this is healthy behavior, we all have friends we play games with. I think it becomes a problem when the "private speech" we use to discuss individuals in these discords differs wildly from how we conduct ourselves on official server channels. I myself am probably guilty of this behavior, nobody is perfect. I think we should try to be cognizant of the harm a couple messages can do to overall server health. Even in private. I think we should always remember the human being behind a character we might not enjoy playing with.

Ill be honest I just don't think cliques are that big of a deal. We should just ignore it because its a boogeyman issue. Anyone who has been involved in this community for any significant stretch of time has seen people complaining about cliques. If you're knowledgeable of our social climate you will also see its multiple different groups of people who complaint about them and also people who ARE in cliques. The reality is we all have friends who play this game. We all have friends who are a part of this community. Thus, most of us are in a "clique". I think it only becomes a problem when theres targeted harassment over individuals. This HAS happened in Aurora's history but its been relatively rare. I think there is a strong perception of cliques on the relay because anytime a spicy conversation starts a lot of people not involved at the start jump in and take a side. I think this is just people lurking and deciding to post when something controversial is said. Personally speaking I am far more likely to post if I see someone saying something I strongly disagree with. I think that is true for most people and its not evidence that we are shouting in our private discords for backup in a discord argument. All of us are more mature than that. Who the opinions are coming from shouldn't matter.

I think we can simultaneously acknowledge there is an issue of behavior on the relay and also acknowledge many of us contribute to the issue. The relay has a particular "grain" to it and even if you're normally not with said grain you can start to follow it the more you engage with the relay. I think the focus should be on a working solution to the problem. It is harder to punish people for being passive-aggressive due to the plausible deniability and vague appeals. Its very easy to punish someone for being vehemently aggressive. That kind of behavior isn't really tolerated in our community. We unfortunately have a lot of different groups of players that do not care for one another so they find the outlet they can get away with. That means being passive-aggressive. That means being snarky and cloaking your vitriol without name-calling. I am not sure if merging discords or deleting relay OOC will solve any of these issues. I do however think we should have only one discord. Its probably not good to have your community splinter.

Concurring with Arrow for stated reasons. While our voting system is not perfect it should take more than just 51% of players to end the round.

Sorry lordpwner but given your history the ban is going to stand. The conduct you engaged in was absolutely inappropriate. You will need to appeal the ban at your leisure.

Its really hard for me to gauge whether calling delta here was appropriate. I think it was a bit of a stretch to think the changelings where some kind of virus that could infect people. That being said theres a reason you need staff approval to do it and that was granted here. Its not really read's fault they got permission to do it and it seems mel already acknowledges it was a bad move. Dont see any action that needs to be taken here.

Can you go into a bit more detail on the type of interaction you both had prior to helping him in the fight? Did you guys agree to team up or anything like that? We of course would never bwoink a merc for helping out another merc or a cultist from helping another cultist but traitors are more a grey area since all of you are lone wolves by default and have to forge a relationship IC to justify it.

You can vote and not play but most people who vote do play. Its how the server works. Even if i was willing to grant to you that rounds like this only pass a vote because of a concentrated effort of bad actors (they dont) the answer is more people need to vote. We have SEVENTY people online right now. We had FIFTY people online during the round vote when i restarted. If those people decide they want a chaotic meteor round that is their right. It is really that simple.

Nope. Hard -1 and voting for dismissal. If the round wins the vote then it means people want to play and enjoy it. I might be wrong but it cannot show up in secret as i understand so it has to be voted for specifically. That is completely fair.

The Captain alone is empowered with the authority of when to use the self destruct sequence. They do not need to consult anyone. It is their omega directive. Of course that doesnt forbid us from examining a captain's reasons for doing so. Will need to establish a timeline of events.

I think a character like this pushes the bounds of acceptable roleplay. @Ublicto I will be noting you for the conduct displayed in this round. Please do not play a character like this in the future.
