  1. Hello, I've also been involved in rounds where Naelenn has been the antagonist, and I unfortunately have to agree. There never appears to be a direction the antagonistic actions are leaning towards, nor are there typically any communication. What tends to happen about ~50-60 minutes into the round, is that we notice high tech shit is being stolen. The AI is being subverted. Someone is walking out on the asteroid armed to the teeth. By this point Naelynn has armed themselves to the teeth with every little thing they can; while not a bad thing, of course, the problem lays in the fact that they have no purpose other than arming themselves. I'm sorry Naelynn, but I don't believe your behavior as an antagonist has really improved since your antagonist unban, you seem to be doing the same things all over again. This time more armed, as you're the merchant a fair chunk of the time.
  2. I support a change to it instead, that officers/security need go be identifiable to keep it vague enough. Perhaps add a clause that they must have a badge, their ID, and perhaps other pieces of equipment visible to identify them as a member of security.
  3. Hi I was Summer, the captain joined us after the heisters/mercs got into Tcoms and sabotaged our communication. We weren't able to communicate until he joined us on the Z-level. We unanimously agreed that going for Tcoms, especially as the raiders had managed to destroy the turrets was going to be a bad idea, a death trap. We left, got into engineering, and looked around those areas for a bit until we heard they were in the brig. As a team, all of security and the captain made their way to Brig, where a conflict then started. An EMP grenade went off which caused everyone to scatter, as our weapons have been rendered gone, however me and the captain got cut off badly and were in a fight for our lives with nought but batons and pistols. I was hit badly enough and was able to get safe in the briefing area to try and patch up my wounds, and with no weapons to defend myself, Summer had given up fighting and was all in for survival. The captain wasn't as fortunate to get in before me and I believe had to fight his way around, before managing to teleport into briefing with me. A raider then opened the doors, and tossed in a flashbang, which I tossed back out. This then sparked another fight, where the captain fought the hazard suited raider with a baton, and Summer clutched her wounds nearby before trying to in vein try to help after he calls for help. I pass out at this point and get transported to medical. Unfortunately with no head, no coms, explosions and raiding going on the captain in my belief was in a little bit of a tight spot.
  4. @Juani2400 Any luck on this one?
  5. Goret is a very decent roleplayer, and I can't help but +1 this. They were side by side with Azza, so I got a taste of their ability to show the many facets of a played personality, which doesn't ooze into OOC. For my question, how do you deal with three lightly armored personnel suddenly coming aboard the station. They only have holsters, but they're occupied. They're unannounced. It's easy to figure out this is a mercenary round. They claim to be visitors.
  6. For the first question; this is hard to describe over multiple characters. Azza struggles everyday with the history weighing heavily on her shoulders, having seen Frost's men trample through the station and harm her friends, dismember, and kill. Then we moved from the Exodus, where the Vaurca invaders came and again, close friends are hurt. This has been what has triggered her personality change, from green horn to jaded veteran. It's easy to see and hear the warmth she's always had, but one wouldn't miss the wariness she carries about herself. Snow is new, but I've tied with the Frost invasion and a dark past. A marine forced to do things she never wanted to do at the gun point of her superiors, and now after the events of the 33rd the sorrowful marine returns under white-lies with a burning need to give everything away, monetarily and bodily to help others where she could not. So a bit broad! The second question is very contextual and a little hard to answer, because you always need to take the entire situation into mind. Personally if others which we'll say is the captain/HoP is negotiating a trade to prevent this, I will ensure security keep people away, and safe, and be ready at the drop of a pin to rush in and stop the threat to the station. As much as a shutdown as you mention that is, it's also security's role to stop the bad guys in a sense and it is hard to find alternatives when someone says they have a bomb. If we give them money, or items, they will still supposedly have bombs after. They'll always have the upper hand and can continue to until the threat is confirmed false or the person is satisfactorily dealt with. The key thing to take away from this is that it's best not to rush in, gather information, and make a plan which doesn't involve getting the station blown up.
  7. I think so honestly! Azza is no longer my 'main' character, so I have enough want to play her, with enough break between being command and being a regular peon. As for being strict, I believe that I'm able to follow along the expectations of the whitelist, while keeping Azza, or another character's personality at the right level. Not every character can be command because of that reasoning, I'd never throw my meek, quiet Layla into the CE slot. I'll be honest I think I'm in bed/asleep when most of the command shenanigans happen, being in the BST timezone. So I've unfortunately had mostly pleasant experiences, which is a bad thing perhaps as I've nothing in mind as to what I can fix or perhaps add my perspective too just yet! Hope this answers some questions.
  8. I did a stupid. My character is Samara KAYTAM. Taj engineer, very mouth back in the day of the Exodus. But not yet, I say every year I'll apply, and just... don't! So I did it. I done did it.
  9. BYOND key:Electric Kitty (Formerly Snoopy11) Character names:Summer Snow, Azza Nazkiin,Layla Al'Khalida. Various others over the years which have faded. You may Remember Legatus, Samara Kaytam, Cassia, Luna Moon. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since around 2015, when we were on the Exodus! Wow, what an old timer! Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I'd like to bring my own flavour of roleplay to command, I tend to favour rewarding effort when it's shown. As an example of a very contextual situation, if someone shows decent roleplay towards taking me a hostage, I'll comply. 'Losing' can be fun. Why did you come to Aurora?: I have no idea. But I've stayed because I tend to enjoy the community, and the flavour of Aurora. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes! Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I've had a few bonks on the head over the years, but nothing serious I don't believe. A couple of steps over the line, rather than leaps, and soon corrected after! Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplaying putting yourself in the role of the situation, as the above, perhaps I'm now a hostage. I fear for my life, there is a very angry man with a gun against my life. Soon my spark might fade from the world, fade to black. It's also about creating roleplay for others to join in on, which command has a fantastic opportunity to do as the heads who control the department. Training. Meetings. Competitions. They control the flow of the round. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Essentially similar to the above, they guide others into action, direct the course of the round. They also create roleplay in doing so, a HoS shouldn't be on the front lines, he/she should have their pulse on the station and be directing his or her resources. Same with the captain, and any other command staff. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Command staff are there to be role-models for others in how they act ingame. To demonstrate the ability to roleplay to others, so that others might also strive to do the same. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? It's one heck of a mess honestly, and has been since I've played! We've not got the robo-lizards causing upset with their non-augmented counter parts. (Sort of redacted ish) the synthetics have recently been getting hunted down, for rogue units, the untagged; people dislike a free synth! Or some do anyway. And then of course we have the Tajaran war picking up with the NKA giving other factions the boot. Since I’ve played here we’ve had Frost invade, the taj camps being dismantled, the Vaurca invade and kill a few of my character’s friends, or maim them. Real hecked. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? HoS for the most part, as I tend to favour security. I see myself going captain, with a new character. Perhaps CE as I tend to be semi-active in engineering. And finally on the off-chance, HoP to get folk to move freight. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Azza Nazkiin, head of security. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Pretty decent! Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Understandable! Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? I have since 2012! Extra notes: Vote Snoops, to be cool.
  10. That's awesome, love the IPC. One must question why the heaters wear jackets though. ?
  11. I'm neutral for the EMTs, I don't think it's something necessarily required, but also sometimes needed. Something more granular such as a head of staff function on a laptop to grant certain job/s free access to their department seems a better alternative. On the other hand I'm against janitors having their access removed, it's a boring job, an easy job that anyone can do, and gives the few a feeling for the place. I've not seen it abused since it's implementation, and the janitors themselves have hardly been annoying with it. Perhaps this should be split in two, as on is a removal, one is an addition.
  12. I have a fair bit of art for Summer, but this one sums her up.
  13. I play Summer Snow, and was involved in the round. I was also at the entrance to the core when Major was being carted off, and was also the person to shoot the borg with an Ion rifle and beat it later. Unfortunately the poster above is correct, Major was wounded by the Borg, but I believe the explosion a moment later which vented us all was what finished them off. Hope it helps.
  14. Nice art, I'm a fan. ?
  15. Honestly, departmental skirts.
  16. A suggestion; Add curtains/tintable windows to the booths, so that people can have private conversations and the like. This could help in game-modes such as cult, rev, and the like where people need secluded shifty spots to talk about the nefarious head/non culties. Plus private booths give the bar an upscale feel!
  17. I support the nerf, I've always wondered why a certain situations fucked my day up worse than the previous; it's certainly disparaging when you're suddenly vertical from a one hit blow. I also myself always go for force gloves as an antag, but I've only ever done so for the ability to fast-grab, since this is a way of restraint, and also the ability for an impromptu bullet shield if necessary.
  18. This is purely from an engineering stand-point, the medical side of me loves it, but could you move the disposal pipes out of the walls? A small explosion cracks a pipe, and you've then gotta take down an entire reinforced wall to fix them.
  19. I support the idea. Though the library is constantly being shuffled around on other maps, and forgotten; it'd be nice to see the symmetry of the chapel and library again, apart they tend to not get many players, together they get occasional usage. Though the moving idea I support none the less.
  20. -1 I interact with the chef when I can, but I've found very often that people will walk up to the kitchen, grab food, eat, and piss off without a word. Don't remove stuff, add things to chef that makes them more beneficial for people to use than junk food, I tend to eat from the kitchen as it slows down hunger better than junk food.
  21. Synth's suggestion seems the more sounds one on this one, you go slow, when neck grabbing too. You're forcing another board around, in this case as a shield; you should be forcing them up.
