I'm all for botanicals and minor chemistry in botany tbh. Sounds fun. Don't call it alchemy though or by the power of the moon I shall punish you.

To be fair I love this. I'd definitely go with these models being a new thing introduced with bells and whistles. The fact they'd have organs would enhance the "alien-ness" imo since as far as I can gather you could say, remove their "heart" and they'd still function albeit at a massive disadvantage - am I right?
-
Obviously awesome. Would this replace synth skin bionic limbs? Also I would assume they'd be new, top of the range units canonically?

[ACCEPTED] Eridani Mercenaries/PMCs

For clarity as there seems to be some confusion on this - the above still stands. -
Unmap the nurse outfits from the medical closets.

I agree so long as they stay in game in say the costume shipments or maint for research purposes. -
I too agree with AI whitelists as poor AI's can damage a round and good AI's (which you'd hope a whitelist would create often) can enhance a round greatly imo.

Is the idea to regularly reset the rearch?

Don't even need to do that. A line of text is all that's needed. "Due to its location in the frontier regions of Tau Ceti the station is perfectly placed to act as a hub of trade and commerce." Imo I wouldn't make it a trade hub though, just open it up to visitors and contractors. Give the checkpoint and actual use. Perhaps force the visitor role to have to come in from off station and make merchant occur more often.
-
Changing the station into a trade hub would be eez peez. Don't worry about us. To be honest all that would need to be changed is policies on visitation + contracting and we can do it like, tomorrow.

Fine from a lore stand point.
-
Why not just have both?

I get that some of you don't personally like it which is fine but how would this improve gameplay? Don't resort to realism as an argument as the game isn't realistic and people only ever use that argument when talking about things they personally dislike. If you wanted realism you wouldn't be playing on the Aurora. I can get behind removing its benefits if you can explain from a gameplay perspective why this would be a good thing. If the argument is just "I personally don't like it" then that's fine too but I personally do like it. I like Kaeds idea though which is also a good example of a gameplay fix - still does heal but is harder to get and stops it being a go to. Also you should be admin helping these things, I do when I see it. It's only rampant because people don't ahelp when they see it.

Mars Boycotts Taj Ban; ATLAS Officials Furious 3.13.2460 Surprise as Senator Thorne announces that Mars will not only be boycotting the Tajaran Migration and Visa Ban, but encouraging Tajaran immigration. Mars representative Senator Thorne announced early this morning that Mars will be boycotting the Tajaran Migration and Visa Ban after a majority vote amongst the City States of Mars. The ban which was introduced less than a week ago has caused controversy throughout the Alliance however Mars is the only colony which has elected to not uphold the order other than the Eridani Corporate Federation which chose not to adopt the ban as per the Epsilon Treaty. The boycott and the legality behind it have caused ripples across the Senate with members of ATLAS up in arms. "This is absolutely outrageous" Admiral Yi, former Admiral of the 66th Orbital Garrison over Mars told reporters "first they collaborate with known terrorists, the Free Assembly in order to strong arm their way out of the Treaty of Olympia and now they refuse to uphold a legally binding decree. This is outright rebellion." Senator Michael Watkins, the senior leader of the ATLAS party, told the press that "Thorne has gone too far this time. There will be consequences for this mark my words. I'm already in talks with the Alliance Supreme Court regarding this clear violation of Sol Alliance law. They will not get away with this." In his announcement speech Senator Thorne told those present that "now we are free members of the Alliance we must have an equal say. We were not consulted on this issue and as such we do not accept this result. The Tajaran are friends of Mars and are most welcome to visit our red soils, as they have always been." Free Assembly members, specifically the Frontier Milita have once again taken to the streets of Mars alongside Martian Planetary Defence Troopers in what seems to be a show of force in light of the announcement as Mars based Embassies of the People's Republic of Adhomai alongside the Martian Consulate are already inundated with visa applications and extensions of residency. Temporary workers have had to be requisitioned in order to cope with the demand. In a statement Prime Minister Chater told represenatives that "though the stance of Mars is not suprising and the legality questionable we will work together to ensure we can resolve this situation in an agreeable manner as quickly as possible." Prime Minister Chater refused to comment further.

We've had cases of people using tea for spider bites. I don't think we should remove the healing tea aspect though, how else are my characters gonna smoke dank fly amanita kush and get away with it by avoiding medical?

What's everyone's email thoughts on this in all seriousness? I invite people to say whether they're into this sort of thing i.e. obvious nods to irl pop culture in their lore. -
[2 dismissal] Remove Extended from Secret Rotation [Binned: 19/03/2018]

I like having extended in the secret lists. -
This PR was to give the psychiatrist something to do and to be part of the medical team. I thought it was largely a welcome addition? I can sympathize with not wanting things like electro shock, but giving psychiatrists something extra seems like a noble goal to me. We still must consider gameplay throughout this as well in front of any realism, bearing in mind this is ss13 and not realistic in the slightest. I can get behind permanent damage as I'm a "you die you die" guy as well but it's a mostly unpopular stance ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Regardless of whether ECT is used/not used or ethical/not ethical, I think it's boring to have in game and with such a rich 400 year canvas available to us I think we should go with a more futuristic tech. There was mention of a machine thats would influnce brain waves and induce pleasant thoughts on a previous thread? Something along those lines would be great imo.
-
ECT is legal in the US and the EU and still practiced. Where is everyone getting the idea it's both banned and horrific? The "mad scientist shocking the delicate psychiatric patient" is a Hollywood meme. Tech wise I like the idea of an IG device for this, but not ECF per se.

I can get behind this. Synth skin shouldn't click though. Maybe have different brands make different noises? Poorer brands make a soft whirr alongside the click?

Gravitic Drive Breakthrough Causes Speculation 03.01.2460. Recent development at Eridani Transtellar Corporation causes stock market turbulence and discussion. Sometimes considered to be Cold Fusion of Astrophysics, the controversial concept of Gravitational Tether Drive has been both a dream and doom of many companies through the decades. Based on the artificial gravity technology that has been known and utilized for almost a century, the concept was developed as a solution to the Field of Capture problem that states that any body no matter how far away can be more efficiently reached by using conventional thrusters than by using artificial gravity due to exponential energy costs of the artifical gravity field. The drive works by narrowing and lengthening of the artificial gravity field to reduce energy costs and "tethering" to a heavy stellar entity like a star or a planet, then use the difference in gravitational pull to accelerate. "Our team of astrophysicists and engineers here at Eridani Transtellar Corporation have recently perfected our gravity field modulation technology. Our new drive prototype can produce thrust at one tenth of the cost of conventional phoron torches and do so without propelant.", the corporate entity has announced in a press release recently. "We are expecting to release our prototype to the market within a two years time." The announcement has caused much noise among the entities trading in and developing spaceship drives and thrusters, most notably Nanotrasen, which holds near monopoly on production and development of phoron and bluespace technology. A sharp drop from 1.2458 % to -0.3217 % stock growth (as of 03.1.2460. GT) has caused Nanotrasen to release a press statement, "We are assuring the galactic community that our phoron technology will remain top of the line in decades to come as we continue to provide thrust and safety to all our clients. This experimental technology is mere speculation and presents a danger to the galactic community." There have been rumors that Nanotrasen has threaten a lawsuit against Eridani Transtellar Corporation for an attempt at Market Manipulation, one of the heaviest crimes within The Eridani Corporate Federation. Among other detractors to the proposed drive concept are worried citizens who claim that that the proposed drive may disrupt orbits of stellar entities causing apocalyptic events and gravitational anomalies across the galaxy. As a result, Neo-Ludite groups have announced protests at the Erdani Transtellar HQ this Sunday. The corporation's CEO Samantha Liara Jackson has issued an unofficial statement, "We assure the galactic community that our drive does not posses the required strength to deorbit planets and asteroids, however, we will allow concerned citizens to protest at our property's outer premises. Any protesters outside designated areas will be shot in accordance with Eridani Property Laws." Positions have opened this morning for skilled factory workers so be sure to apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Editor's note: Translated from Tradeband to Basic.
