  1. skull currently deals with hosting and is also head of development, a few months ago he also used to deal with the administration side of the server but he grew old and decided to delegate the problems to two headmins, garn and itzal, who deal with OOC crap. and usually have a say on major changes to the server. we also have CCIA, who oversee regulations and legal issues, the lore team which is full of tumblr tier writers and lastly and the least, the dev team that is locked in the basement, their job is add features people never asked for and to nerf things people enjoy. CCIA have their own head, so do the lore writers, while the devs are lead by skull and the mods/admins by the headmins.
  2. I noticed people who suggest to lock off the .45 are always people who don't play officer that often. To me, i consider the .45 a self defense weapon for officers. i would never need to resort to it in normal situations as i have the taser, but when i am jumped from the shadow and i don't know what the hell i'm shooting i very much like to be firing rubber rounds over taser shots. not giving officers a proper sidearm is just insulting. i also don't know why there's been suggestions to lock it off when there's (as far as i know) no one complaining about it, if it isn't broken there isn't a need to fix it. the HoS, captain, warden and HoP aren't expected to deal with security issues, but are issued energy pistols for self defense at all codes, i don't see how officers who are always expected to be in harm's way aren't issued sidearms themselves.
  3. I've only had one interaction with Coly Asher, where i had arrested them for stealing a gun, they RP'd the consequences properly (albeit a bit snowflakey to my taste), so that's a positive thing in my opinion. into the app itself: to start off, the character's story is too short, it's only one paragraph. secondly, the character is just bland. way too bland for a whitelist character, the whole story can be summed up with "some guys make a robot for some work and then he is engineering robot and then he goes to work" you should at the very least give your character an actual character.
  4. Unnecessary. The HoP can already easily link ID cards to station accounts. it seems a bit useless to use up a whole ID over one/two transaction, but then again, heads of staff can use an ATM for this, provided they have the station fund pin number, so maybe we can give the HoP the pin number of all 5k department fund accounts? along with an ATM in his office.
  5. this is based on my old cargo suggestion which suggested we replace supply points with credits. this suggestion aims to turn cargo into a capitalist haven, a re-work aimed at making ordering from cargo better, even as a traitor it would be a viable choice. the main point of this suggestion is: Your supplier is not Nanotrasen(at least not most of the time). Cargo will become more like space amazon. Supply points will be removed, and replaced with credits. Items ordered by crewmembers will be owned by crewmembers, and cargo will not be able to deny orders, unless they want cargo to pay from the department funds. instead of different categories, we have different companies and suppliers, some from the lore too. (zeng-hu for medical supplies, hephaestus for engineering supplies etc etc) How ordering will go: You come to the console, choose your supplier Choose product Choose privacy and security, each option will increase the price, the first is an option for higher priced equipment, like weapons and surgery crates(very expensive), while the second adds a lock on the crate that is only unlocked by an ID linked to your fund account, so those cargo techs cant go snooping on your equipment. Crates ordered by department funds will have a department access lock on it For obvious reasons, weapon crates cant be ordered by individual accounts, and only by department funds or heads of staff/warden. applies to big ass engines too (singolu/SM) Crate arrives in special wrapping that comes from supplier, if the cargo techs messed with your shit you can sue them for neglect of duty/theft. You sign a form to make sure you received your order, if you don't sign it, you can sue cargo for theft and get paid the price of the crate. Cargo get a percentage of the order's price for their services (goes to the department funds) this will also require a new machine, something that would allow the HoP and other heads of staff to dispense credit cards with funds from the department account, that would allow them to order items that are department locked. It can also be used to give out raises for extra work. what this will accomplish is turn cargo from a bureaucratic nightmare to a successful capitalist establishment, where ordering things for people will directly benefit them and trying to fuck someone over will have them brigged. disclaimer: this is not the full idea, there are still parts that would need discussion but this is the general idea. I'm also thinking of disallowing people from making orders when they're set to arrest.
  6. People who steal the garden hatchet are valid, fucking valid. if you see someone taking it and leaving it is your holy duty to behead them where they stand, their actions are a crime against nanotrasen and her people. As engineering, it is your duty to make a butterfly knife and shove it up your ass round start, that's why the plasteel is there. All assistants are ex-convicts that you must keep your eyes on, most are charged with grand theft and murder. Any announcement lacking a CCIAA signature is a clear breach of security and it must mean the AI is rouge colored. Insulated gloves are contraband, an assistant wearing insulated gloves is a security breach!!!! Having a prosthetic means you have a certificate in prosthetic and robot repairs Half the engineers are all part time roboticists, the other half are ex military. Everyone knows how to dislocate limbs, it's easy just literally a few clicks. Everyone has a black belt in multiply martial arts.
  7. if they grenaded you before any combat had started, that was shitty, but you do know you could've used flash rounds? one shot is like a ranged flash that would overload their senors and leave them helpless against the harmbaton, fllashrounds for the .45 and 12 gauge shotguns are easily printed out of an autolathe without hacking it
  8. Riqpley is one of the few i didn't like their playing style at first, and even complained about, and managed to change. a lot of their old awful behavior died out and they've improved a lot, so that is a +1 in that aspect. chair RP wise, i haven't managed to get much, they have a habit of going SSD in security when the round is boring, and seems to never comeback. one incident i remember was them saying they'll head off to play in another server in OOC, and logging out with their officer in full gear, not bothering to put their equipment and heading to cryo. into the story, half the story is about the company, not the IPC, and the other is about the robot's design, not the IPC in particular. while the whitelist characters are there to show you have an understanding of the species, which you did. it does leave much to be desired with the character, whitelist characters are also used to measure your writing skills, so snowflaking a bit (not too much) is fine. i also wonder if a company that just started out would be able to dish out 1k robots in one go, we never got to know how the brothers managed to get the funds, and neither of them were roboticists, were they?
  9. issue 1: implying you are in a "superiorform" OOCly, passive aggressive bigoted behavior, just what we expect from you all these characters are carbon copies of each other, are you even trying? well ofcourse, jumping the bandwagon. umm no. it goes against lore, only the ruling class snek get rainbow skin. they asked about the lore not the article, smh new guys. self inserting your pets? pathetic. another citadel/vore/eros immigrant, just go away already your name doesn't follow the lore, it needs to have more Ss Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs if he joined a warparty, how did they start working on the exodus, they must really hate humans, why did they decide to work with them? when did they get the education needed to be hired? how did living in human space make them feel? character is too snowflakey, just delete this. typical scalie answer scalie confirmed overall good app 9/10, i +1 it. -IGN
  10. I've seen you a bit here and there, but there's one major problem i have with this this app. server rules aside, this is just too snowflakey, and as a head of staff? that's just a big no. job hopping is an issue common with new people. your character's childhood started out as a miner's son, good ok. he learned the profession from his father, but suddenly now he is a Xenobiologist dealing with slimes? when did he get the education? why did he take such a huge turn in his career? what is his actual limit? can he also setup the engine while performing surgery? i suggest reading over the character creation rule set and playing more often.
  11. BYOND Key: DatBerry Character Names: Rob Oster and some other guys Species you are applying to play: Snake people What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): something like metalic grey blue, like snake's sneaking suit Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: what page? Snek's name: Ssolidi Ssnyke Snek's role: Security Officer What does your snek man do: he can infiltrate places with his high snek training. after having to kill his mentor, Ssnyke started a PMC to help those in the frontier who did not have a security department to protect, but the Sol Intelligence Agency didn't let him rest, and to escape them, he decided to go to their highest opposition, the liberal tau ceti space, where he applied to work in the security fields.
  12. just to clarify, neither sec nor the synths shot first, the AI at the time was showing obvious signs of being nuts, locking us down and all but never shooting, then the secborg comes awfully close to me so i flash it, whack it a bit and try to lock it in a room, only for it to come back and try to laser me and the CMO
  13. oh man i knew i knew dimitri from somewhere, it was you! ihttps://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=7789& you were warned that more chucklefuckery will end up with you permabanned in your last appeal i still remember your other permaban, you weren't new, you had multiply warnings and a ban about the same issue of poisoning drinks and self-antaging/chucklefuckery, you had that permaban coming. so what do you do after being unbanned? more chucklefucking. a quick glance at your IC security records are enough to tell that you have not changed at all. which was the longest sec record i have laid eyes on. were you brigged every single shift? once incident i remember was your ass getting brigged, you find a door open, sprint out to security equipment room where i was shooting lasers at a bear, only for you to try and push me over for god knows what reason, i had you permabrigged that round. then there was that newscast delta posted. and now this. which i had to deal with ICly yet again. you and another guy went and made bomb threats over the relay chat, ran off to hide the evidence, claimed shitcurity when told to come to the brig, we were planning to charge you both with at least terrorist collaboration had we not gotten busy with other things. it's been painfully clear that in the span of a whole year you haven't improved enough.
  14. hey, i do have a few points also, Positronic brains are not cheap, for cheap, mass produced robo servants, you go with the robotic board, which as of yet, does not fit in Integrated Positronic Chassis' you are applying for. the way the story is worded, the design seem to be a military robot, which may prove useful in fighting off boarding hostile parties, but for the main bulk of security work, pretty irrelevant, coupled with being 'cheap' and mass produced, it would seem like it would cause a lot of issues when interacting with crewmembers, especially during arrests. this is a bit vague, how much "minor engineering and medical" do they know? honestly i do not want to see robot officers hacking through doors and repair breaches then moving on to clone people. if they're cheap with minimal space, as cake stated, how did they managed to stuff all that information? most IPCs are generalized into on department to keep efficiency at maximum at their current assignment. this does not seem like minimal emotions. why is a combat oriented robot looking to make friends? most AIs that are made to be mass produced are shallow at best and dumb most of the time. at least going off old baseline lore, don't think that changed much. aaand cake already noted this, but im also asking. im a bit skeptical because this rises a bunch of flags and leads me to imagine bipolar mary sue robot who will ruthlessly kill valids with his combat and engineering skills while getting emotional over his friends and fixing them up with his medical skills. while this is a bit of an exaggeration, it has happened in the past.
  15. well, that's a short app, so let's keep answers short too, starting with this ironically, you take more brute damage and still deal the same damage as humans, ignoring the fact that applying for a race over it's mechanical buffs is a big red flag all you need to do is switch r with s and cat with ligger and it's the same response to a lizard app, this barely shows any understanding on the species or what truly makes them different where did he study "science", at what level? highschool? most of adhomai is still lacking behind in technology and education, was he the son of an old noble so he managed to get the funds for the education needed, how did being a nijarir effect him in the post nobility rule era? does this cat even know his planet is in a civil war. do you even know the planet's name? how did he come to know of a obscure private research station at the edge of another solar system? why did he want to work there over any other place? ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
  16. this is one of the few character apps that are short and really doesn't leave much for me to criticize. the character's upbringing(or synthetic equivalent) makes sense, the story pace is good, there aren't any fast high jumps and it's pretty ordinary in a good way and the reason for the character to be working here fits like a glove. the only point i have is that being a librarian isolates you, especially if you expect people to come to the library. it may be fruitful to have them hop around civilian and service to meet and interact with organics from different perspectives. oh and moonmoon is ok i guess, his characters "RP" and shit, never robusts valids, smh. +1 from me
  17. Abolebab's methods of validhunting as his captain really add the missing part needed in cult/vampire and other supernatural antags to get the thing rolling where most characters in his place would be in disbelief and the story gets stalled until the peak of the arc. they act as a proper counter to the antag, not valid hunting to no end, but also not spreading their legs helplessly letting the mantag have their way with the crew. his other characters also show depth and variety, and are for the most part weirup is shit good stuff. fuck weirup, his synthetics feel like robots, his industrial frame is simple as shit, while his shell uncanny valley feel he doesn't even valid synths properly into the character in the whitelist, he kind of reminds me of my own tajigga whitelist, though they fought for the NKA for different reasons, they both got injured and ran off, surely the NKA would be securing their injured more now. the character starts out as a very average cat, war happens, he joins, time goes on and he changes, he gets injured, he is now in tau ceti. the last part is a pretty big jump, i know you are trying to keep things vague but at least tell us you have considered the following: Im sure the NKA would have very limited methods of going into space, if any. with the current fleet under the PRA's control the easiest way to get off planet is through the PRA, who he was fighting with for a long time and only stopped recently. im interested in knowing what approach he took to leave, did he strike a deal with the PRA to escape the NKA? or did he have connections/family to smuggle him off? how does he deal with the fact that NT cooperates with the PRA and that they do give out information on their tajigga employees? what does NT know about him? either way, im sure your answers are atleast 6.4/10 so im ganna go ahead and +1 this. though answers are always welcome
  18. Greyson Hardie, bald. in another perspective, you may have stopped the lynch squad from beating me up physically, but still left me with some salt. as i had not even started the conflict, but that's irrelevant, it's just the part where you were ready to sting people to sleep when you haven't even seen them acting violently. Mio isn't the one listed in my character bio. That is Jeana Silvers, who is actually 52. I always trial run skillsets using the ingame skill thing in character setup, to keep things "average". i misread, but still. you usually get out of med school in the middle of your thirties. specializing in general surgery would probably add 5 or so years of study. CMO's aren't and shouldn't be expected to deal with everything in the department if it's lacking in manpower, they're (similar to an RD) supposed to know the basics and the standard operation procedure enough to supervise and direct. hell, you can have a CMO who doesn't know neither surgery nor chemistry just fine.
  19. the tools were thrown around due to a mechanic with toolboxes, hitting with them throwing everything out like that, we were tazed out of the fucking blue if you don't think that's enough to smack someone then i don't know what is. we would've picked them up if we weren't busy arguing with security. you didn't bother to ask or anything, you came by with a locker, took everything and went off. i took the welder tank first, he copied me, but that is irrelevant, we had a valid reason for them, people just metagamed it (ICly, how likely is someone to blow themselves up with a welder tank? very very unlikely.) treating people shit ICly because you think they're just griefers OOCly is the definition of metagaming, acting IC on OOC info. the fact that you can't realize that is just sad.
  20. my only interaction with them ended up with their character mio force injecting soporific into me after i've gotten into a fight you did not even witness. i was not violent at the time, not attacking anyone while you were in sight, you didn't even try to talk to me, the only thing i heard was "this him?" and then getting jabbed. honestly, that was just shitty as a MD and i don't want to see CMOs doing this with their hypospray. along with the fact that the character was a copy of overwatch's mei, it just gives me pretty damn bad vibes. but that's just my interactions with mio. my memory is a bit foggy but i believe i've interacted with stoker before, were they an officer? because i remember them being alright if you could avoid jumping the gun that would be nice, MDs who spam soporific end up hated. into the app itself; this may look like nitpicking, but heads of staff aren't supposed to direct the round, well atleast not take lead. antagonists are expected to take the lead and for the crew to react. honestly, this answer alone would let me +1 the app. into the character, while their age is fine, they seem to have finished med school, nursing internship for MD, specialized in surgery and finished their degree in chemistry under the age of 40? seems a bit far fetched to me, but not impossible. the character is a bit... bland. we know nothing about their personality other than they want to help people and that they have an interest in chemicals, i understand not wanting to set them in stone but a general direction of where the character is heading would be nice. all in all, +1, though i hope you take the criticism at the start of the post as constructive.

    [2 Binned] Blobs

the main point is: a random event can fuck over a job for the rest of the shift with no way to possibly stop it in time. you are implying engineering can fix toxins properly, and in time, most blobs being dealt with end up with a transfer being called because engineering does fuck all. do note some of these jobs take a lot of work to setup, an xenoflorist having his lab destroyed at the 1:30 will fuck him over for the first of the round, even if security and engineering managed to locate and kill the blob at around 1:40-1:50, you think they'll have time to do anything meaningful even if the transfer isnt called at 2:00? again, the issue is that blobs can take an entire job out of commission with no counter at all, for extended periods of time, and that depends if engineering is actually competent protip: it usually isn't.

    [2 Binned] Blobs

the issue here is that you've already known where the blob is. there's usually a minute for the blob to grow in, and it can take anywhere from 2 more or even 7 minutes to locate the blob, this issue is even worse when there's no AI or if it's dead hour. even if you manage to effectively take it down, by the time you've setup. the damage is already done. one example is a blob spawning in xenoflora maintenance, that spot is hell for science, xenoflora will be almost surely eaten fully, toxins, misc will also become inoperational soon after and xenobiology and the RD's office will follow. that's just one example, blobs cause significant damage before you even start to deal with it. so the issue isn't killing blobs efficiently, it's stopping blobs from destroying important shit, which is almost impossible. i also thought of something similar to nikov's idea for blobs, but here's how i'd have the blob work: point 1: as proved by flashbangs, blobs are sensitive to light, too much and they are slow to expand in lit rooms, but in darkness they would spread even faster, so fast that by the time the announcement is made, they'd fill the spot they're in. blobs will break light sources near them. point 2: when there's only one free tile to fill, they fill 3 times as fast. so in confined areas, they will sprint, but when they burst open into open areas, they'll slow down due to the open area and light point 3: blobs will react with silicon in windows and turn into a hardened, air tight wall, light blocking blob wall. thus they wont vent maintenance, but they also wont be helpless against windows inside the station and avoid powergaming windows. thus what will happen is blobs will become very stronk in maintenance, growing to a respectable size before crew can gank it, but won't deal that much damage, im thinking it may be too easy to deal with in hallways so maybe we could add more features to blobs, or a progression / maturing stages for blobs
  23. what the balds did that shift: callout shit officer who tazed them for no reason, officer was reprimanded by the HoS (and later fucked up again and went to cadet) call out thieving engineer that security ignored fixed damaged walls that engineering refused to fix call out another officer dragging the warden into cryo with their weapon holstered still only near the end did i actually break regulations but that was due to being ganged upon after having my shit stolen, but that is irrelevant. (not too sure what fiskap's bald did, though i assume he didnt break regulations either while i was SSD) you merely assumed they were incompetent but you did not assume the crew did not like being insulted? what about regulations? isn't it always assumed crew would like cyborgs to uphold them? the main (and i think only) complaint against cadmus was that he was an ass towards the crew, which was deemed unacceptable for a station bound. that bald was fiskap, i think i made it pretty clear i wasn't the guy in the incident. anyway. i understand your reasoning for this. though at least telling them you had to deal with someone dying instead of wordlessly leaving them after putting a band-aid over their gunshot wound would've been optimal. though honestly, disposals = suicide, i would've prioritized the guy who got shot, by at least telling them to sit tight and not move around, shrapnel is lethal as fuck and can cause internal bleeding if not popped lungs and other organs failing. but that's just my opinion. they had force gloves, and flashing them earlier failed for reasons i dont know, since they were not complying i was not going to risk it and move into range for them to instantly neckgrab me. i had aimed the tazer at them and they continued to ignore me. i think tazing them was better than flashbanging or teargassing them. not to mention once again, they had force gloves on, which is not only broad day light contraband, but that means they are considered armed. and yes you can be charged with it even if you do return it before security arrived, we arrested someone for shooting up monkeys as a test in the starboard hallway. but this is off topic. you did ignore the force gloves and zora blaster they had. to clear this up, the guy with the arsenal was another scientist, which iirc had 2 AEGs and some other weaponry. had you just turned the equipment in i would've just let you board tbh, i dont remember the other scientist being arrested either. or simply stop insulting crewmembers and stop favoring certain crewmembers over others because of assumptions and out-of-round reasons. the second part is what i have beef with because even if you don't realize it, to other people, when you ignore the facts that happened and base your opinion over your relations with x crewmember or y department it just looks like plain old clique behavior. i doubt your character revolves around only around those two points, so you can compromise/fix them without having to stop playing them, unless your cyborg character is supposed to be a sassy robot then that was attempted before and was deemed inappropriate. and on a side note, department bias that goes IC is literal cancer, and will only lead to the department feeling alienated and turning into a clique that hates the other side (see engineering vs security) imagine if security went off to search all the engineering crew as soon as code blue is called even though the issue was unrelated like spiders or bears, just because "engineering usually makes contraband n shit" even if the engineer's records are clean, that'd be totally shitty and will lead to engineers getting passive aggressive back at sec, into a never ending cycle of trash and failRP. Edit: edited memes that were attempted to lighten the mood only to turn out passive aggressive.
  24. this one, i ahelped it one big ahelp in one go.
