I think these conflict each other. An intelligence with many petaflops of processing power is able to make reasonable abstract thoughts regarding weapons + security searching for weapons. If you knew security was searching for a weapon, and had your previous observations as notably suspicious, you are intentionally going against your lawset to assist the crew. There could be an argument for "i was perhaps being balanced with crew and antag play" but I don't think in this obvious of a situation.

Agreed with everything above Cnaym and Carver posted. We keep trying to solve player responsibility and proper roleplay expectations with rulesets or code changes. There are some acceptable use of this but we need to be cognizant that we do not go too far.

I main HoS (Chad moment), so I interact with Valk's Research Director often. They are very well developed. I'd like to see them be a bit more 'skrell' if that makes sense. Skrell often act too human. I digress, however. Your research director is well developed besides the one personal preference above. You roleplay them well and I am sure that you will iron out any issues that are a part of the command learning curve. +1

Re: My statement above, I was thinking it over today. I realized that you retracted the part of the PR changing cartridges before I said that above. In my mind it didn't make sense to switch some things to bakelite, the oldest synthetic polymer material, and then change ammo types to be futuristic.

As a proud Makarov owner, some bakelite grips would be neat on certain pistols and grips. However, from a roleplay standpoint, I would imagine that the TCFL have some sort of uniformity, be it all poly-blue or all wood stocks. My personal preference is that they get the poly-blue furniture. As for changing cartridge size, I disagree. I think that we've come pretty far in terms of cartridge development. Really, the only thing that has changed recently is some polymer casings like the new gov't contract for the 6.8, caseless bullets (priming agent/charge are completely consumed on discharge), as well as some other oddballs. One must also note that some current ammo, 9mm Luger as well as 7.62x54r are both in regular service use and each are around a hundred years old. Realistically, yes, there will be some more advancements, but there is a point where a technology can reach its peak potential before becoming something completely different. For example, we could assume that bullets advanced enough to eventually become energy that is being propelled and then that eventually turn into the laser rifles and other phaser-like weapons we see in game. For sake of simplicity, I would say do not "obfuscate" cartridges. The numbers on them mean something-- and some of these ammo types you suggested already exist or are close enough to other ammo types. Simply changing them for means of changing them to other ammo "that is used in the future" seems a bit off to me. So, besides the ammo cartridge changes, I will be one to stand out from the wood-crowd and say that I like the poly-blue changes. Adding some bakelite stuff would be neat for some rare guns. Specifically, some of the "antique" guns should come with more than just a wooden grips. A pearl or bake grip would add way more flair.

I don't know if you were trying for an "I gotcha" or what-- but basically that's the opposite of what I'm saying. It was just a little tidbit that I threw on the end. I think I explained my reasoning for my actions and how they weren't justified and messed up, and how I'm requesting some form of forgiveness and offering apology. Not as a means of simply returning to Discord, but as a means of at least setting things a bit more right. You do know I realize that my chances of being unbanned from Discord are extremely slim. In fact, like you have attempted, I realize that even bringing this up risks a retroactive scaling up of my punishment, something that holds legitimate possibility here. I take that risk because I feel like despite possibly losing anything I may have left here, I'd like to at least put myself on a ground of 'forgiven but not forgotten' to those who believe in such things. However, knowing that I did request forgiveness- and if it is declined, or even retrospectively worsened my punishment, I will no longer hold guilt against myself. This is as much forgiving myself as it is requesting others and to me if that means complete banishment for even bringing it up so be it. It's my due diligence to offer an apology and have a change of behavior. Whether or not you/others/staff accept it is all in your court. The idea of unforgivable offenses is stupid but you're entitled to hold grudges.

I enjoy the random events. As others have stated, it adds some flavor not only to extended rounds but also can be overlaid ontop of other antag-events to create a more unique story every round. Carp for example are a "random" event and give xenoarch and mining some danger to their job, which adds to rp. That being said, variety is the spice of life. Reworking some of these I believe would be time well spent.

From my roleplay interactions with Var Septiumus, Kester has shown that they're extremely competent of both mechanics and roleplay. Adding small lifelike flairs to roleplay interactions is what, to me, separates someone who just understands how to get by and play the game vs. someone who has a passion for roleplaying a believable and memorable character. +1

Snake, First thanks for getting the logs or what little logs are there. 1) My "actual motive" for coming back is to at least view what's going on in the community, and chat with people. Preferably not about politics especially since the removal of the thunderdome. As I've been roleplaying a lot more on the server due to having some more freetime after moving positions at work. I'd like to be able to receive status updates about roundstart so I can catch the lobby, etc. 2) My other accounts weren't deleted, they were banned for doxxing pedophile/ MAP discords on my twitter. I've been pretty mad at Discord for the past few months. Regarding why I requested that lore developments be documented somewhere other than the Discord is because there should be official documentation on either the wiki or the forums for lore. This was great and was being used but here recently I've seen basically a 2-3 sentencer with a "check the discord" thrown at the end. 3) My previously, hilariously-offensive behavior was hilariously offensive. As Skull pointed out in the screenshot above I have a habit of being a contrarian regarding political discussions. Especially within the conversation that got me banned, there was a time where I was moderator in which in-character racism was permitted and not so much as blinked at if it had legitimate roleplay development. Aka, no 'Tyrone Biggums' character smacking their lips, but an actual developed character that's a frontiersman that is wary of other races and species, card-carrying ATLAS member, and even using the N-word was permitted to an extent. I was pointing out the flaw in the system that there was no policy statement on this and therefore it resides upon staffmember opinion, as I had with other rules that were based on the staffmember's opinion. Re: you calling me a racist xenophobic transphobic womanizer antisemite--- I'm not racist outside of my use of the R word in political discussion of the word, similar to how Garn has used it in the past. If you determine that to be racist, whatever. Transphobia I've never done anything more than dispute specific studies, and I'm friends with a lot of transgender or not exactly "binary" people. I have no issue with developers, and I do not believe I've ever attacked a developer as a person, but rather their content developed or simply voicing my distaste for it. I think that avoiding anything political in the channels and keeping things to DMs with those who want to discuss things personally solves this. Shitposting about vision cones on my wall or saying "I still don't like this" on the feedback after new PRs are merged I don't think is too abusive to Myazaki, but if they're offended I'll lighten up I guess. I know it's only been a year or so, and I do hate to pull the "I've matured" card that I would routinely strike down as a moderator on appeals or tickets. And karma would say that I eat crow in this appeal, but I am still making it in the offchance that chances are given here. Since then, I've finished college, attained many certifications, bought a house, went from internship to achieve a fulltime salary position, and fell in love a bit more. I do think that I've matured a bit more than I have, and some of my political ideas have changed. Yes, I believe I'm still a polemicist on a few topics, but realize now that 80% of people (especially within this global community) do not conform to my worldview. So it's pointless to argue or debate those things where I believe I would previously have gone all in on.

I believe there should be a bit of an escape gameplay loop implemented through this. Currently the only options are to robust security, blow a hole in a wall, etc. With the removal of beepsky making a round that opens up the starboard security entrance gates, I imagine escaping is much more difficult.

Hello, I am not sure if this ban is still active, but since I've returned after a year or so I'd like to appeal. I do not have the original account that received the ban/kick. Basically if I'm still banned from the Discord i'd like to appeal. If not, uhhhhh just let me know ok thanks BYOND Key: Zelmana Total Ban Length: I don't know. It may be expired. It's been awhile. Banning staff member's Key: I don't know. Reason of Ban: If I recall correctly, I believe Garn and I were arguing regarding specist as well as direct racist remarks done in character, and whether or not people can create racist characters. Based on my interpretation of the rules, I stated within Discord that I would make a character that is racist and say the n-word in character. Once again, trying to recall and piecing together from talking to others, I was doing this in order to prove my point that there was no explicit ruling regarding in character racism and that punishments were being done as a matter of opinion rather than a measure. Reason for Appeal: I want to talk to frens and post memes but definitely 1000% will be muting and removing the thunderdome/serious discussions channel and trying to avoid certain conversations as much as possible. Inb4 "you can't come back if you can't handle it", in which I would say I can but am publicly saying I am declining to beforehand. Again, not even sure if I'm still discord banned. thx

One thing that I like about our development, and the entirety of the SS13 community, is that each server is independent. The codebases may share some similarities, yes, but eventually they stray far enough that they are very unique in the gameplay and functionality. Yes, it's good to adopt some things that become popular such as the speech showing in the game window, but other things not so much. I believe this is one of the latter implementations. Where it does, for a lot of people, impact the game and feel negatively. Just because other servers have this implemented successfully does not mean it should be here, nor if it can be implemented will it be 'successful' as that definition is opinion. And I think it's a lot of people's opinion that this is unneeded and even disorienting, and the few benefits to stealth that we get from this we take away in other areas. I'll reiterate what I said a few pages ago regarding us trusting the player. We should trust the player to make the appropriate choices regarding appropriate vision cones and 'presence awareness'. For example, knowing that someone is behind you because you haven't heard them walking away, you're able to do so by seeing their sprite still in the same area. I don't think this is something that needs 'fixed' because it is not broken. We're adding a literal blinder to the horse that is the player instead of trusting them to make the right decision on what direction is straight. Once again, stating my own opinion, I think this is disorienting and extremely annoying in any aspect of roleplay, from chairRP to heavy combat.

What I previously wrote was not as articulated as I liked. I'd like to echo TrainTN's description of the issues that I have had and still will likely have as long as this is implemented.

Hello! As you may see from my activity post, I was quite aggravated with some lack of development/documentation of certain lore pieces. When discussing them with a lore developer, I brought up multiple issues only to be informed that some of the examples I brought up were entirely removed? That's right- "ATLAS", an organization that has a large history within both official and player lore was apparently reworked / removed a few months ago? Despite there being many many posts about them within the newsfeed on the forum. Checking the wiki shows no documentation changes regarding this, and there's no disclaimer stating that the wiki entry is outdated or no longer lore. I thought that if it was on the wiki than it was good to go. Similarly, checking on the forums shows little or no documentation of his major lore change- at least, where one would expect to find it, within the Lore Diary. I was pointed to look at the lore channel within Discord. Yet I don't really like joining large communities on Discord due to Discord's recent policy changes. I can understand if Discord is the place for development and some official announcements, but could we for convenience post these to somewhere with more permanence? The Forums and Wiki, perhaps? I in no means wish to start up any sort of drama and am really just disappointed that this has happened a few times- major lore changes that seem to have no documentation outside of the Discord channel. Then again, I could be completely mistaken and misunderstood yet again.
