  1. I believe there should be a bit of an escape gameplay loop implemented through this. Currently the only options are to robust security, blow a hole in a wall, etc. With the removal of beepsky making a round that opens up the starboard security entrance gates, I imagine escaping is much more difficult.

  4. Hello, I am not sure if this ban is still active, but since I've returned after a year or so I'd like to appeal. I do not have the original account that received the ban/kick. Reason of Ban: If I recall correctly, I believe Garn and I were arguing regarding specist as well as direct racist remarks done in character, and whether or not people can create racist characters. Based on my interpretation of the rules, I stated within Discord that I would make a character that is racist and say the n-word in character. Once again, trying to recall and piecing together from talking to others, I was doing this in order to prove my point that there was no explicit ruling regarding in character racism and that punishments were being done as a matter of opinion rather than a measure. Reason for Appeal: I want to talk to frens and post memes but definitely 1000% will be muting and removing the thunderdome/serious discussions channel and trying to avoid certain conversations as much as possible. Inb4 "you can't come back if you can't handle it", in which I would say I can but am publicly saying I am declining to beforehand. Again, not even sure if I'm still discord banned. thx

  6. Now this is both quality of life and roleplay enhancement in one suggestion. Always wondered why this is not done, and my idea is that it is difficult to do in code. +1 for suggestion
  7. One thing that I like about our development, and the entirety of the SS13 community, is that each server is independent. The codebases may share some similarities, yes, but eventually they stray far enough that they are very unique in the gameplay and functionality. Yes, it's good to adopt some things that become popular such as the speech showing in the game window, but other things not so much. I believe this is one of the latter implementations. Where it does, for a lot of people, impact the game and feel negatively. Just because other servers have this implemented successfully does not mean it should be here, nor if it can be implemented will it be 'successful' as that definition is opinion. And I think it's a lot of people's opinion that this is unneeded and even disorienting, and the few benefits to stealth that we get from this we take away in other areas. I'll reiterate what I said a few pages ago regarding us trusting the player. We should trust the player to make the appropriate choices regarding appropriate vision cones and 'presence awareness'. For example, knowing that someone is behind you because you haven't heard them walking away, you're able to do so by seeing their sprite still in the same area. I don't think this is something that needs 'fixed' because it is not broken. We're adding a literal blinder to the horse that is the player instead of trusting them to make the right decision on what direction is straight. Once again, stating my own opinion, I think this is disorienting and extremely annoying in any aspect of roleplay, from chairRP to heavy combat.

  10. Hello! As you may see from my activity post, I was quite aggravated with some lack of development/documentation of certain lore pieces. When discussing them with a lore developer, I brought up multiple issues only to be informed that some of the examples I brought up were entirely removed? That's right- "ATLAS", an organization that has a large history within both official and player lore was apparently reworked / removed a few months ago? Despite there being many many posts about them within the newsfeed on the forum. Checking the wiki shows no documentation changes regarding this, and there's no disclaimer stating that the wiki entry is outdated or no longer lore. I thought that if it was on the wiki than it was good to go. Similarly, checking on the forums shows little or no documentation of his major lore change- at least, where one would expect to find it, within the Lore Diary. I was pointed to look at the lore channel within Discord. Yet I don't really like joining large communities on Discord due to Discord's recent policy changes. I can understand if Discord is the place for development and some official announcements, but could we for convenience post these to somewhere with more permanence? The Forums and Wiki, perhaps? I in no means wish to start up any sort of drama and am really just disappointed that this has happened a few times- major lore changes that seem to have no documentation outside of the Discord channel. Then again, I could be completely mistaken and misunderstood yet again.

      You're 50% correct. I did leave for awhile and then came back. I am not surprised that lore changed, I just expect for it to be documented somewhere other than a Discord channel.

      You know, considering the forums and the wiki have not reflected the changes all that much.

  16. That and a viscerator swarm is going to mess you up when they attack from all directions and you have to alt click in all directions just to find out where they are yet alone begin attacking. I've played a few more rounds with this on, as well as the most recent updates to it, and I still very much dislike it. It gives me a head-achey feeling from being so disorienting if anything reasonably fast paced occurs.

      This happened to me to--client just forced itself to stop working as it was loading. I cleared my cache and restarted my computer multiple times, reinstalled byond, etc, eventually it just began working on it's own. This was before goonchat on aurora, however

  18. I don't like it. I feel as though as with many things, we're trying to solve what should be minimum roleplay expectations with a mechanical fix. Realistically know someone is behind you because they ran full sprint in jackboots and you should be able to hear that in character? The player should be trusted with this decision. Realistically cannot realize that someone is just walking by you 6-7 blocks away, picking up a knife to eventually stab you? The player should be trusted with this decision. Those are just two reasons besides it being unaesthetically pleasing to me, but I feel erring on the side of player responsibility vs. taking away this responsibility to the detriment of roleplay scenarios. That's not saying that yes it would be neat and add some flare to stealth, but I feel as though those possible situations are more rare whereas the issues where the vision cones cause issues like the two above are much more frequent.
  19. Why would I want to, as a HoS main play, when my job duty is: Oversee the Warden, which is a minimal duty job that is getting the armroy together and documented and processing. Oversee investigations, which can run smoothly and optimally without much guidance. Oversee officers only during Red Alert. I would be doing what I do when I play that character as a visitor- sit down by the Kitchen speaking with Anya and anyone who wants to roleplay. This update kills HoS, and if you are of the opinion that this does not kill the HoS position, it severely numbs and nullifies it to the point where they do less leading than "the unofficial Command" aka Quartermaster.
  20. So- change Bandanna to be multi-slot type. I don't know if that is possible. When worn on face = covered, can be lowered like a sterile mask to hang around neck. When worn on eyes = blindfold mode When worn on head = headband mode (this is already an item so this could replace it.)
  21. Would be nice, I enjoy seeing cowboy-esque characters. But agree with others, roleplay is iffy and need to settle into a role.
  22. Make them better. Have them able to be used as an a blindfold, a headband, or on the earslot to have it look like neckslot. I don't know how to accomplish this nor will I code it. "Someone else do this."
  23. This was tested on 4/8. It was horrible. Security, when a situation was ongoing, lacked ability to collaboratively work. The addition of offices only meant even less roleplay, as they would sit around in their offices. On a non-dept security round, the security would typically be doing regular patrols through all of the department lobbies. Of course, there is some issue with certain department lacking any public lobby, and there is little roleplay interaction between security to those departments. Or, departments that have characters who are routinely stepping away to do other tasks. I feel as though there are better departments to split up for the sake of roleplay. Ones whose entire staff sit in one room location of the station, and not security (whose entire purpose is to walk around the entirety of the station during the duration of the round). Of course, an optimal choice for this would be medical. I do not like this.
