1. It would help for people for you to describe what your gimic was, and game id (or at least time the round happened)
2. Please be more clear next time for others, In case people don't understand, he wants there to be a button in arrivals checkpoint which acts as a megaphone and says next, with the megaphone sound for it being replaced with the papers please sound. I love it. +1
3. The Odin is basically the command hub for all NanoTrasen assets in the system, I see no reason for Odin to have a minor research office in it's complex alongside the bureaucratic, residential, and commercial districts it has.
4. I will use an example (old but still viable) of what a typical fight with a cloaked ninja is. I was a CSI named I-AN, mobility frame. The AI spots the ninja in bridge and raises the issue to security, and they move there. I think I was told to come as well to gather some evidence once security chases them off, and due to lack of living security (ninja killed others who first responded) I was given a laser rifle in case I was attacked (once again example is old, so don't remember specifics). Me and the last officer remaining enter command and a few seconds later the officer suddenly goes horizontal, I ask him what is wrong then all of the sudden I get killed by a axe embedded into my head by an invisible ninja. Now I know what some may be thinking: "Why didnt you try firing at the tile you were being attacked by?" Thing is, I did . I saw the axe swing and fired at the tile, however by the time I fired the ninja already moved and was attacking me somewhere else. I died shortly after (mobility frames are weak). I agree that solo antags should be more powerful than regular antags, but being able to stealth kill the entire sec team with them having little to no chance to even hit you is not the way to go. I feel that the ninja should try to pick off people alone, with a surprise attack and uncloak, followed by a battle they will almost certainly win in. In conclusion, I feel that being able to stealth attack for consecutive attacks is OP, and should be nerfed or the ability to do so removed. Side note: No, the power drain is NOT sufficent, for reasons described in other posts.
5. I am worried about the implications about changing a map at certain times of the day, what if more people get on than expected? I do not like the possibility of an overstaffed station more than an understaffed one. If it could be clarified for a system to prevent overpopulation and to provide an easy way to change these maps that would be appreciated.
6. I love this idea, and can already think of things that can be said, such as: "Oh boy, the Aurora is in trouble again, why can they just operate normally like the NSS Upsilon". I never understood why the Aurora was the "best" considering how other stations were, so this fits that hole nicely. +1
7. Not sure about this, I can see this leading to people not readying up so they can see the "new map". I overall think we should not try to fix low pop issues with an entire map. I feel there are better ways to deal with the problem.

Turrets Buffs

I agree, I say buff the RoF, but if we add something like a laser minigun that will become unstoppable, we need to find a balance between how big of an obstacle it is.
9. Thank you, you have served this forum well o7
10. Me as well, we will miss you in charge Abo, and I hope you can fix the problems going on in your life. Godspeed o7
11. @Scheveningen Correct me if I am wrong, but I feel that the problem and why people began talking about the combat system is how security and antags usually are the culprits when it comes to improper escalation due to a mixture of both minor metagaming with knowing usual antag patterns and properties, and the desire to "win" in terms of succeeding in their objectives. I feel a good start to solve this is encouraging antags and security alike to interact more with the rest of the crew, and have security stop having antag stuck in brig for extended periods of time (unless with good reason of course.)
12. I guess the check from the eye doctors bounced so we switched to a non-lethal version.
13. @Arrow768 perhaps the industrial IPCs as well
14. Mech guns have to be attached to the mech for a reason, they are extremely bulky and powerful . Here is some examples: Laser Gatling gun>can fire so fast the server lags it a bit, you will shoot them to a crisp Electric cannon (can't remember exact name) Will hit everything and everyone in that room with a powerful electric shock Grenade launcher> self-explanatory Incendiary carbine> fires bullets that set whoever gets hit on fire There are many other examples, but the gist is that they are balanced since you have to operate them in a bulky, expensive mech. I feel that if this was to be implemented it should be more expensive than mechs, since it gives you a extremely powerful weapon with seemingly no downsides.
15. I understand which round you are talking about, so I will say what I saw in my point of view and why I gave you that Ion. I spawn in around 1 hour and a half (or just 1 hr, cant remember). I see the radio saying how a teleporting person has stolen items from vault. I figured that it was pretty far in the round so I ask for a status report. I get no response while I am heading towards the brig, and see security crowded by the ninja. I once again ask what is going on, and the FT tells me this person showed up and is mute. I was in the mindset that security was confronting the person about the vault contents, and I noticed that they had a hardsuit on. I felt that it would be ok if I gave an officer a ion rifle with orders to fire only if they are hostile. I explicitly tell then that it should not even be unholstered and that they should only ever use it if the person goes hostile (The person stole from vault, can teleport around, and to my characters eye god knows what else or more importantly what it took from vault). When the officer asked me why I gave them a rifle, I told them that the individual has been claimed to have stolen from the vault and had a high-tech hardsuit (hence the teleporting). After I learned more of the situation I went lax and started chatting with the ninja (via paper) and overall I felt the situation did not escalate unreasonably based on what I saw and heard when I uncryo'd. I apologize if you feel that what I did was not acceptable, and I assure you that if what I did was bad then I will adapt to accommodate to this.
16. BYOND key: ben10083 Character names: B.O.B (borg and AI), I-AN (CSI), L.O.S.S (Merchant), S.A.M (Roboticist) SE-B (Security Officer), W.A.R (Warden)
How long have you been playing on the Aurora?: Around 2-3 years Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I wish to play roles such as IAA and HoP. Why did you come to Aurora?: I really like how this server deals with RP and I felt like this server is a good server to learn how to play. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Of Course. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Yes, a few notes and a temporary synth ban, they were a long time ago and I feel they should have no factor in this application since I have changed since then.
Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is basically people telling a story by acting as someone/thing else. Roleplay should not only be engaging for the person, but should allow others to help make it even better and to make a good experience into a great one for everyone. A good role-player uses the people around them to make a good story for everyone. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Heads of Staff guide the rounds in most occasions, they can change the course of the round by giving orders and other tasks a head of staff would do (varies by role), they can make or break a round usually, and are expected to help improve the round experience for everyone. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Heads of Staff are considered the most knowledgeable or their department icly and oocly, they will serve as a role-model to help new players get used to their job and learn the ropes, and are expected to be a rolemodel regarding server rules. They are held in a higher regard in the community and are trusted to make important decisions, they are expected to be a good role-model and help other players when they can. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Well currently the merchant conglomerate Virgo Transportation has arrived at the system, and I feel that my character B.E.N would likely make extremely sure that Directive 8 is followed to prevent any loss of trading for Nanotrasen and possibly Tau Ceti as a whole. I also feel that some crew members would resist the idea of a IAA IPC and may interfere it in it's job directly or indirectly (not antag-wise, like ignoring it and the like.) What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? IAA and HoP. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: A new one named B.E.N (IAA), they are a no-nonsense machine that is extremely thorough and hard-working. They however usually push people away from relationships due to it's obsession with work, and isn't very good with socializing in general. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I feel I do very well when it comes to roleplaying with synthetics, and can usually do very well with my Cyborg and AI characters. I feel I am doing ok with IPC characters although there may be some room for improvement. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Of course. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. Extra notes: I am slightly worried about my role as CCIA possibly being a factor in my application (unlikely but good to cover your bases), I would like to have anyone who reviews this application and providing feedback to not use my staff role as a factor for consideration of your response to this app, and I greatly encourage any and all feedback so I may better improve myself.
17. I am aware, what I am saying is to explain why this would be a option that would be a better alternative than a transfer fresh (besides just "dont want to end")
18. Why should we have this compared to just starting a new round? If we start a new round we allow people who are ghosted to get back into the round as the same character, the materials that are now expended would be replenished, and it would allow some people a good point to get off the server. Please tell me how this option is better than just transferring @Butterrobber202
19. I am ok with the EVA back entrance, as the normal way to enter the vault is too open for antags to even have a chance before security is breathing down their neck. I however agree with them being forced to trigger the motion alarm and reworking the layout of the vault itself.
20. This topic has gone off topic, it isnt about removing ion rifle, but removing it from armory, aka making it harder for sec to have it.
21. Idea Remove Ion Rifle (and subsequently the locker holding it) from Armory Why Ion Rifle is a massive thorn in the side of any antag synthetic Way too easy to possess such a powerful weapon Ends fights in one shot, ends the round for synethics in two Forces synthetic antags to be defensive or face a quick death Other reasons I have forgotten to mention How This Will Change Rounds Security will need to either buy an ion rifle from cargo or get one from RnD (Not sure if RnD can make one, but you get the gist) Buys time for synthetic antags to prepare if sec tries to get one Forces security to try other tactics instead of just running up to the synthetic with an ion Allows more freedom for synthetic antags Likely Arguments (And Counter-Argument) "Malf Rounds Will Become Too Powerful" - Borgs are still physically weak and can be trapped easily, it will just be harder instead of being dumpstered on by Ions "Ninja Will be Unstoppable" - Ion Rifle can still be obtained via cargo (and maybe RnD) Conclusion I feel that this change will allow for more dynamic rounds with synthetic antags and giving them a meaningful chance, but sec can still get an Ion Rifle if it orders one.
22. Good point, perhaps I am thinking this the wrong way, also, BurgerBB Will armor and/or other equipment in the armory be changed?
23. I don't see a reason to block OOC, if it becomes an actual problem just ahelp. Plus it allows peple to have conversations instead of just staring at the countdown for the vote to end and begin talking again. -1
24. As a side note to this, Emagged drones get the same laws as an emagged borg, so it can talk. I feel that we should not prevent drones from being emagged, instead, we should have them have to follow proper escalation and other rules like any other emagged borg does.
