  1. Overall I like how Drago outlines how the problems for IPCs pretty well and provides some solutions that are not just "Nerf Ion to be useless". I also like the idea proposed for customizable IPCs instead of heaving 5-6 "species" regarding different IPC models. The only problem I see with the customization of IPCs is how some models with clash with each other, but I am sure spriters can come up with non-clashing models. I also greatly appreciate the effort to pay some attention to AI and borg lore, and will anxiously await the results if they are accepted. @DRagO Can you provide some examples or an outline of how you plan to change/improve AI and borg lore? +1
  2. Were you there when the drone nation attacked? I like this, and it will spice up the ghost roles a bit. +1
  3. The Crown might be admins, to be fair, but the place is meant to be largely independent. Then what will CCIA do during these rounds? Why should Admins be doing what is CCIA's job?
  4. I like this idea of a time-based whitelist, it provides a more natural progression from borg to AI. If you can have it set to roles, I recommend having it set for hours, in case people abuse it to storage right after, or if a round is shorter or longer.
  5. I do not like this as a permanent map in terms of if we rotate, here is why: 1. Lets face it, not many people on the server know taj lore outside of the newscasters or forum news, should we expect the community to suddenly have to learn yet another element of lore in order to not get in ooc trouble? 2. I am just going to assume that CCIA would act as the crown, and this is yet another authority we will have to look into and determine how to respond for. 2a. Where will the "crown" be based? How do we have the round end? A fade to black? If they need to evacuate, how do we go about doing so? Are we just going to have TCFL, Cat edition when it comes to them needing ERT? 3. The idea that you will need a tajaran whitelist AND a head whitelist for commanding roles makes me worried about if this is a direction we want to go, having people have to trodd through 2 whitelists just to play a role they like. 4. As with others, I play this game for the sci-fi element, if I wanted to play medieval SS13, I would play lifeweb. Overall, this would be a great event map, but should not be a rotation map. -1
  6. Actually, violating your laws or "lawyering" your laws to bend them is against the server rules, and can get you AI banned. Also, bad ai play can also be punished by filing a character complaint. I do not see why there is only 1 AI supports the argument of a whitelist being needed, especially considering the multitude of other roles with 1 slot. What? AIs and synths have a multitude of standards they have to follow, which can be proven looking at how the administration deals with bad ai play and how people term ais "bad" in the first place. Because you can't have bad interactions if there is no AI to interact with in the first place. In all seriousness, better RP is not really a good reason to whitelist a role, yes, AI is powerful, but we have a sufficient system already in place to deal with them, as explained above. How does a whitelist change the mechanics of AI? Are you saying you plan to nerf AI after you lessen the player base via whitelist requirement? We should not force someone to play a role a certain way just because we do not like it. Exactly, so why will making it be behind a whitelist change anything except by making AI played less? Lets throw in a scenario: A non-whitelisted player has been playing for a while, and rolls malf. Now we expect them to not only be a master of AI mechanics to effectively play malf, but know the malf mechanics and how to play as an AI well enough to drive a good narrative. This will ironically reduce the quality of malf AI, as people who roll them would likely not be experienced enough to play them well. You cut to the major flaw in whitelisting, the severe reduction of players. The only solution you propose is to apply for something head whitelist with a character for another role, and then not use the character you applied the whitelist for and play AI instead. Honestly irrelevant, separate role, purpose, and power and can easily be spun to support not being whitelisted. Overall, A AI whitelist is not needed, as administration action and current routes of action to deal with poor ai play are sufficient, and making AI behind a hard-to-get whitelist will only serve to cause an undue hassle to play as AI. It is true that AI has more power than most, but that doesn't mean we should clamp it down just so our "elite" players can play it, and forcing people to either apply for a head whitelist or get malf and struggle to do anything. I will however support a AI whitelist (NOT including borg, there is no reason why borg should be included in this) or a time requirement, the later I highly recommend as an alternative. Since this suggestion is neither however, -1
  7. As long as some things relating to policy are addressed, I am fine with doing a test merge to see how this pans out, otherwise we will get nowhere anyways.
  8. Maybe an intercom can be added. Not having a channel and a headset is pretty important to keep the officers from just doing their old 'patrol randomly and show up with the entire department to one stabbing.' Intercom still will have officers responding to situations, plus, of course they will respond to a situation, if they are confined in departments they are likely bored out of their minds already. I still do not see a good reason to remove the sec channel, just seems to be a further kicking down a already weak sec. What skills, exactly, are needed to say 'Ah. Officer? There is a man here with a crowbar inside research. He isn't a scientist. Sic 'em, boy.' Considering Officers can literally be a minimum age of 18, I'm pretty sure the RD/CMO/CE/HoP know what they're doing. Also, strange how nobody is concerned about the HoP being the weakest head right now. Edit: Also, the HoS still has a monopoly on violence. They have the entire armory, and control over who gets arrested. It's true, anyone can call for sec, and that's the thing. Why do heads needs control over sec, if all they will do is report crimes in progress to sec? HoS should still have control over them, and the department sec would still listen to the RD/CE/whatever when it comes to regulation violation reports. Security isn't about winning, it's about roleplaying. That being said, just coordinate with the rest of the crew? Get guns from Science/Cargo? Fortify the departments you work in? It's not hard. Most roleplay with sec regards in some way of protecting crew and assets, so I feel that the idea that sec solely exists to "stop da antags" is irrelevant, as someone has to be an obstacle for the antags, after all, there has to be some sort of resistance from the station against them. Also, it is a slippery slope allowing other departments to go milita mode, and fortification of departments and mass arming up can easily be seen as powergaming. Interesting to note however, is that the entire crew fighting against the antag is 100X worse than current sec doing so, and this would provide a excuse for crew to "interact" with antags by rushing them with weapons as if they are frontline infantry and engineering building a mega fortress every round Is this really what we want to do to sec? Yes, there are people in sec that power and meta game, but it is up to people playing the server and staff to curb such behavior, yet it would be foolish to say any system would be foolproof. I feel this will greatly lower playability for people wanting to play security, as now they are resigned to having a staring contest with the cargo tech or standing in the empty abyss that is engineering for 2 hours. I would never play as sec if that is what I have to "look forward" to, as it seems this suggestion will make the only enjoyment for sec is forced rp with others or chair rp watching cams and yelling in common about sec threats
  9. hmm today I will fight against departmental security

  10. I do not feel this idea is good, to put it simply. To actually provide context, here are the problems I see with this: Security channel is basically non-existent now, and communication is severely hampered, I have heard people defend it by saying "Just use the chat relay on laptop", but if an officer needs to be on a chatroom to be effective, just give them the darn sec channel access This follows on the above thing, but now HoS controls 4 people. max . And this is including detective and CSI. The HoS will become the weakest Head by FAR, and we already see with IAA that heads are sometimes unwilling to defer to someone who knows what they are doing. I will not change this stance until someone convinces me why the RD should be the boss of a officer than HoS, despite the fact that the RD never done security work, ever. Who does warrants? You can't talk to HoS due to no sec channel, so do all heads now have warrant authority? Will officers just have to do warrants themselves? This problem needs to be addressed before merge Security is now isolated and fatally disorganized, and due to this, any competent antag or sizable force of antag will find it laughably easy to overun the mall cops in each department since will have alot of trouble organzing themselves without a common channel to communication (COMMON CHANNEL DOESN'T COUNT) No clarification on department officer authority, are they only allowed to arrest in their department? Does this mean I can kill the RD in science then run outside of science to avoid the department officer? Officers found enjoyment in rounds usually via patroling, but since they are no longer allowed to patrol the station as a whole, they have to breathe down the necks of everyone in their department to give themselves something to do. Overall, I will be terrified if this PR is merged without these problems being addressed, and honestly, I do not feel this should be merged in the first place. This completely destroys a department and leaves with it a Neutered HoS, Every head having a officer despite having literally no experience regarding sec or how to use them effectively (ICly at least), and annihilates any organization against threats to the station, giving antags a figurative red carpet of sec they can just walk over due to them being unable to communicate to each other or have a common head to take orders from. -1
  11. I little known thing regarding synths is that we already have it at 3 slots, here is how: Robotics lab spawns with a posti and materials for a complete cyborg shell, so all they need to do is join as the posti and be inserted OwO to increase the borg count. However, I also would like there to be technically 4, so.... +1
  12. UPDATE: PR awaiting merge, also someone needs to add "wiki edit" tag to the github PR, followed by counseling for wiki maints after merge while they update the sprites
  13. This seems like a amazing event, but not something that could happen often as a gamemode, here is why: We see from rounds like crossfire that most of security would go military-like antag, so syndicate would have advantage The hack device does not seem to have a long duration (unless you didn't state it), so a round can end quickly if a single syndie just rushes sat or ai upload People would still have their memories of previous experiences, and would likely send most of the round freaking out about suddenly being in a new universe What will the other crew do? Will IAA just sit in their office and write complaints to the Sol Alliance? Every round would be a murderbone bloodbath, which doesn't really support RP. Overall, while I HIGHLY recommend making a event suggestion of this, this should not be a gamemode. @PoZe -1
  14. so such a feature already exists? If so, -1.
  15. @Chada1 But wiki maints love work! I like the new sprites, so it will be interesting to see them implemented.
  16. Smh, I thought this project was about drugs and I was interested to see what it was, but new pots are cool as well, so +1 over here.

  18. I would like to reference a previous situation that happened a while ago that is very similar to this: It was a malf round, and it was the part of the round where the AI was making moves and stopped security from accessing armory, so the Captain (or HoS, I forget at the moment, but for the rest of this I will refer as Captain for consistency, if @Arrow768 , who was the person if I recall, would clarify here, that would be great) ordered ion rifles from cargo. This is where the problem started. Willow from the start actively interfered with even ordering the rifles, and once the rifles were finally ordered by threat of arrest Willow Told the AI directly detailing how security and command was ordering ionrifles, and where security and command would be to collect them. Almost as a direct result, the AI escalated and started trying to gain access to SD, triggering Delta. It also started blocking surface cargo, to prevent security from collecting the rifles. Overall, due to Willow, the AI was notified of security's escalation in advance and was able to raise to Delta and started attacking security, risking the lives of the entire crew and the station due to her actions. I do not really see any IC reason to blatantly disregard security and command orders when they clearly need to do so, then directly help the antag by informing them of their plan.
  19. Interesting, but how will you be able to "defeat" the antag and have it purged from the station? Keep in mind that we can't have only the priest be able to do so, as if they are not present the crew is basically screwed.
  20. @DeadLantern Technically blood cults worshiping a blood demon is in the lore, so vampires are not a big stretch, just say its because of redspace. Also, even if is magic doesn't mean it can't be infectious. I am excited just thinking of these rounds if vamp worked like this, with the crew slowly being subverted until they go critical, then they try to take over. The priest and some other crew bravely attempt to take control of the situation as their past friends reveal to be enemies. However, I feel thrall should be removed if we allow people to turn into vampire, but that is another discussion. Overall, I support this suggestion. +1
  21. I am not sure if having another directive just based on assigning assistants is worth it, however having a CCIA notice about it would be more acceptable Regarding Assistant Assignments: The Head of Personnel is obligated to assist with assigning assistants to a department in which their skills will best serve them in, however, assistants may choose any alternative department with an applicable low-level job, but such requests are to be approved or denied at the Head of Personnel or Captain's discretion. Thoughts? @Zundy
  22. My only worry is that if someone dies it will constantly spam the sound, otherwise, +1.
  23. Here are the problems with this: 1. Once we do this, we eliminate the major benefit of using energy weapons, leading to a drastic increase in ballistic use 2. Even easier to shut down Sec early, just take away the power packs 3. This will be complicated to do for borgs, since some hacked modules and the combat module use energy guns, this will effectively break them, and it will be difficult to find a solution for it if we insist on them also using power packs 4. There are actually many more places to charge your weapon, if I recall you can use regular chargers (reduced charging) and surface checkpoint and some places in command also have rechargers, so it is rather easy to get to a charger. I feel that this addition will just make energy weapons become "Ballistics but fires lasers" and that, with regards of the sufficient amount of chargers spread around the station, that it would not be easier than heading to a charger. -1
  24. I could see this becoming a problem, and this is why: Lets say I spawn as a space carp, I head over to where mining is and attack a miner in eva and end up killing him, I then hide and attack anyone who tries to help them Again as space carp, I head over to bridge and try to vent the area, when I see the airlock open, I (swim?) away and wait for them to leave, then I go back and attack it. Rinse and repeat. Overall, I feel this will lead to alot of shittery and I feel that there are way better ways to entertain yourself on extended. The entire point of it is a break from all the antagery you expect in an normal round. -1
