Automatically make traitor AIs into malfunction AI types
ben10083 replied to Scheveningen's topic in Completed Projects
I like this idea, usually AIs when they go tator are forced to have to make up some excuse to start causing havoc since they lack the other options malfs are provided (borg machine, fake announcements, etc.), +1. -
I support this idea, if there were a message and a delay you are basically asking for people to bend the rules and screw over whoever uses it.

When the unstoppable force meets 4 movable objects
ben10083 replied to Arrow768's topic in Hall Of Fame
Glorious, my biggest regret is that I could not see it in person. These are the things that deserve the hall of fame. +1 -
Synnono CCIA is basically a meme, but we are too scared of you in the hard position where any memes we do are in an IC setting, so any chance of a meme would usually be at the end of the round so keep an eye out then.

"Alberyk put a warning on my pristine record, -1" I rarely see any interactions regarding religion, much less tajaran religion. Overall, I can see this becoming an excellent rp tool to help pass the time on slow rounds and to have the character engage with others and work her magic voodoo ghost powers. +1

I still do not see why AIs should have restrictions to certain exterior airlocks, and I believe that AIs should have access to all airlocks to they still have ways to deal with people who are against them, we must keep in mind that the AI is stationary and has little means to defend itself once the station is against them. The scenario that burger described is something that would likely violate our ooc rules, and we should focus on these incidents on a case by case basis instead of restricting external airlocks to all because an AI decided to open them.

Bauser ironically when miners fall that airlock is usually how they get in, and I still do not see a good reason to even cut ai access to airlocks even for "security" since they can just vent it via air alarms and all these other methods, and with this argument we should remove that as well. (Sharp ya forgot to format this thread to show that it was 2 dismissals reeee)

Gather around lads, let me drop some knowledge on you all... I saw a video about a ss13 review (you know the one) and decided to play it since I am a fan of spess. I go on a server the review was on and looked at my options. Being a good noodle I checked the rules and researched how to play security, only to my dismay it was agelocked. I pick robotics and get quickly bored and end up walking around. Towards evac I was waiting for the shuttle when a bomb goes off and I get sucked out into the void. I went to the server list to try to find a different server that would hopefully have no agelock and stumble upon Aurora, I picked security cadet and ended up watching the checkpoint until I got memed by mercs.

I remember when the omega clown decided to battle the crew at the EOR on the Odin, it was rather intense but then all the fun was gone when the wizard ran up and stoned the clown (the wizard was then gibbed due to "bluespace"). I have seen too many cases when the wizard would just run up and stone someone then run away, and it is just not fun to be on the receiving end. +1

Every time I have been AI the only time I use external airlocks is when a miner needs let in (which happens a lot more than you think), but even if some people do abuse external airlocks to space people, as long as it is in a manner that follows the rules I see no reason to stop the AI from opening external airlocks, -1.

I personally love the memes, we may be a HRP server, but we have a capacity to have human feels such as humor in the server. Overall, I was thinking of making more memes to expand the pool. If you want tips, look on the wiki, or forum, or ask ooc, or even ahelp. -1

BurgerBB's Developer Application
ben10083 replied to BurgerBB's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Burger does a good job at contributing, and although some think he is bad just due to 1 or 2 bad contributes food update, overall we must understand that no-one is perfect, and if every developer/contributor did their job perfectly we would not have a bug report form. Overall, I say give him a chance and let us see how he will fare. +1 -
I agree with a delay system for swipes, when command asks Central for ERT, especially early in the round, we usually check things such as what antags are present, what Central knows about the situation, and the time of the round. These factors usually have us either delay the ERT (Hence the announcement about ERT assets occupied), deny the request and recommend alternatives, or of course approve it. A delay will allow us to look at the situation and see if we should allow ERT to be summoned or not. As a side note: I said this before and I will say this again. Whitelisted ERT is a BAD idea. Here is what will happen if we add whitelists to ERT; 1. We will have times when ERT is called but no one can spawn as them due to lack of whitelistees (and no, staff are not an alternative if this happens) 2. We will have people quickly cryo and join ERT if they are whitelisted, since no one else can do it. 3. ERT will likely have less people (I am thinking maybe 1-2 on slowish days) and will be powerless against mercs or cult. Overall, whitelists for ERT will make them unusable, but delays to ERT would be a good idea for antags to properly prepare to either leave or make a stand.

[Dismissed] On Custom Items: Resonable Pet Restrictions
ben10083 replied to Kaed's topic in Rejected Policy
I think it would be wiser to focus on the danger it may pose to station assets and personnel than just size. For example: instead of carriers, perhaps simply say that only domesticated pets are permitted with restrictions such as dangerous animals are not permitted but pets like dogs (All kinds), cats, etc. are permitted, but animals such as carp, bears, lions, snakes, etc. are not allowed due to their capacity for harm. -
I see no reason for this not to be accepted based off the fact it is a dog, yes it is true it may shit on the floor, but thats just more janitor tears needed, and we have plenty of those it is expected for someone to be smart enough to clean up after your dog. I would love seeing more interactivity between friendly mobs, which is something we greatly lack. The whole argument about workplace problems is kind of redundant due to the fact you can get your own dog from cargo. I feel that if NanoTrasen really didn't want pets on the station it wouldn't give command their own pets nor would they allow you to buy your own. Overall, I see no problem with pet applications, as long as we do not get unusual pets of course.

Resilynn Roboticist is an actual job actually, its called robotics engineer, and they make around 64k-96k.

I love this idea now my B.O.B doesn't seem like a copycat of the floorbot hue hue hue. I never seen the floorbot used..ever. So making it a parrot would be much more interesting.
-
I am not really a fan of this idea, if this was implemented, what stops anyone from just starting the engagement with a tackle and getting some free hits while they try to get up? I can easily see this as a cheap tactic by sec or antags to quickly win, with security quickly cuffing the person or the antag beating them to death in that timeframe, overall, -1.

-1, I prefer it not being mechanical, as I can see people doing this constantly and never doing a good job, which will VERY quickly get annoying.

Merchant Station Can't be used for Cultists
ben10083 replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Completed Projects
I propose another idea in tandem, possibly an extra dock for ert, in those cases when merchant needs some corporate "re:education" -
I don't like that staff, both times when I was hit as a borg I suddenly become a character in Detroit: Become Human and have to start trying to find a way to rp my char realizing it doesn't have a shiny chrome exterior and how this even could work with a robotic chip turning into a brain. -1, it just causes more harm than good.

Remove the chance of failing an announcement as Malf
ben10083 replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Completed Projects
Yeah I remember my first malf round when I made like 8 fake announcements (when chances of failure were not nerfed yet) and managed to avoid getting downed by Command, I remember ooc flipping out about it after the round. TBH I see no reason for the AI to be able to fail when a tiny device to fake announcements is infallible (ic wise) +1 -
[Dismissed] Maintenance Drones Suck, Heres Why
ben10083 replied to Bygonehero's topic in Rejected Policy
Here is a good example: I was malf AI and it was that time of the round when sec and the captain went down to pop open a can of whoop ass on me, fortunately with the power of my magic AI powers I had them trapped outside my core and they were suffocating....that is until a drone unbolted the doors and fixed the air alarm. I set it back to drain only to find out the drone was fixing it as soon as I "fixed" it. I went over to blow it sky-high to find out the drone was glitched and wasn't on the console, had to ahelp to get it gibbed, by the time it was done by barricades was blown up and I was shot to shit. In conclusion; the current policy of drones are fine, although if the drone is actively interfering with the antag unreasonably, ahelp it and/or kill the bugger. -

And I don't want to interview children in the report, overall I feel uncomfortable with this idea, -1.
